Yeah it sure it great... as I emphasized on it in the review.. :) Honestly, I was thinking it would be cheap quality since it's free :p But I was wrong! :)
And isn't that a XoticPC bag ? Not a Sager bag....

Dude, Xotic PC are just resellers. They just carry out the order to Sager.
Sager is the one making the system and putting it together.

I think it's the exact same bag I got from Sager when I ordered a gaming system from them about 7 years ago. I still have that thing, hard drive crashed, kids ripped off the screen from the base.... I'll get home and flip it over to see if it's a Clevo. Now you guys have me wondering if it might be a bag that Clevo sends out with their barebones systems.

I'm with Nirvana, I also ordered from Xoticpc but it was shipped from Sager.

OMG side note... I've been battery only here for about 20 minutes, on power saver mode and I'm down to 73% battery life! lmao that's sad! I didn't want to pull out the car charger....

    Hi Guys,
I have been intensely studying all the laptops out there for a while and finally am going to buy the NP5793. I thought it is time that I joined the forum :)
I must admit that the last doubts I had where blown away reading this thread.
I do have a question though. Its a long time since I really played games now, But I would like to get into it. I am thinking of buying a more entry level system with the 8700 card. The thing is, wherever you go, people discuss only the maxed over versions. Will I be able to stroll along with a less mind-blowing configuration?
    Regards,
    Govind

Tis' good to know the review was convincing for you! :D Anyway, post your config and we could advise you from there.. :) If you bought a slower CPU, and the 8800M GTX instead of the 8700M that'd be a better investment in an overall MUCH powerful system. :D

Well, you'd still have a kick-a__ system, and you'd have the ability, should you so desire, to step up to the 8800 at a later date. As far as walking around goes - who'd know the difference (ok, so it's a bit of a pose, but not really because the potential is already there :D ).

    Hi Guys,
First up I would just like to say that its a great feeling to know that once I get the machine I will be among a strong active community.
I would briefly like to explain my situation - I am a grad CS student - so I spend all; and I mean all my waking hours on my laptop which is currently a very ordinary presario V3100. So I began looking for a new laptop to buy and honestly the NP5793 just seems to me, after quite a substantial look see, to be among the best out there. I have always liked games but could never find the time to get heavily involved in them for the past few years. So I wish to take a dip although I know I can't be hardcore experts like you guys. I will be buying this system mainly because I have been smitten by it and am now getting excited by the gaming possibilities.
Prasad - I can only go for the 8700 now coz although like you said a lower CPU with a high end GPU will perform way better, the GPU upgrade is $465 but the CPU upgrade is only $135 to make the jump from 2.1 GHz to 2.5 GHz and more importantly from a 3 Mb to a 6mb L2 cache - so I am gunning for that - and of course I have to go with the WUXGA ( I know it doesn't make gaming sense, but I really want the beautiful screen and for now am willing to play games at a much lower res though I hear that they look best when played closer to native res). Hopefully like Shyster said, I can make an upgrade to the 8800 later. I already have 2x1 GB RAM with me so I am ordering only a single 1 GB (I am ordering from powernotebooks.com and they do not offer a single 2 GB stick else I could have gone for that). As for the hard disk I am going with 100 gb at 7200 rpm.
My main question is - I am sure that I won't be able to blaze away, but will I atleast be able to play the new games like Crysis, UT3 etc; albeit at lower settings?
    Thanks again guys,
Hoping for a long and fruitful association,
    Govind

I wanted to bring something up - I was disappointed that during the time I was still undecided, I scoured the net but couldn't find a single video - review or otherwise of the NP5793 or the Clevo m570RU - although I was given a link to this delightful review by Tim Childree of powernotebooks:
    http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=3196&p=2
gave me lots more pics to drool over too :)

What sort of video reviews were you looking for, and in what time-frame?

I wanted to wait till I heard back from you guys but I couldn't resist while I was on the phone with powernotebooks :) but thanks Prasad007, hkman, nirvana0001 and Shyster1.
Regarding the videos, I had only found the "fan noise" ones and the "problems with", I hadn't found the viewing angles one or the boot up time one - I was looking to find one which would give a good idea of the finish and the looks - which was what I was worried about the most at that time

didnt spring for the 8800 huh?? the 8700 is still very nice..imo get more ram in that sucker.. id get at least 2gb but 4 is better....for right about 2400 you could have a 320gb hdd (just as fast as a 7200 rpm because of the larger density), 4gb ram, 8800gtx...just a thought. the reason i say this is if i had the choice to go to the 8800 from the start i would have .. i paid for the 8700 when i bought mine and then decided later to upgrade and spend another 750$. figure in the extra 3gb of ram, the 320gb hdd and the 8800gtx for just over 400$....again just a thought.. but good choice overall with the 5793 though

You know I started out thinking I would buy myself a thinkpad for 1 grand :). Ya so no 8800 but you read my mind about the RAM. I should have mentioned it in my specs I forgot - I ordered a 2GB from newegg to make it a total of 3 GB (I am sticking with 32 bit OSs for now).

Hey milkshake, how much you want for your 8700? Take $75?

Can anyone explain what this means:
That second part does not make sense. Is this just another Winduhs limitation? (Will be running Debian 64 bit)

And what kind of video card fits in the M570RU-U? Obviously it's not this one. Is it a miniPCI?

The 945 chipset is before santa rosa and was limited to 4gb of allocation memory. So if you installed 4 gb RAM, then even if you have a 64 bit os, you won't be able to use it, since the chipset can't utilize that much ram, since memory would be reserved for bios, video card, etc. The santa rosa chipset doesn't have that problem.

Penryn is just the name of the processors refresh for santa rosa, the chipset (before it was merom processors). The m57ru-u is the np5793, which only differs from the m57ru because of better cooling for overclocking the extreme processors.

Any idea about the M570TU? How is it different from the M570RU-U? When is it due?

Pfft... There's a fan ?? What noise ? :D Well.... using my desktop this thing feels like it's not even there.... And I don't think even the "Daredevil" could hear it... :p On automatic, it's very pleasant.... and on full blast it's a bit noticeable but I wouldn't categorize the sound as annoying, infact it's quite a silent hum.... And when gaming, whether with internal speakers or headphones, either way, I wouldn't hear the noise one bit, so doesn't affect me at all! :D

Also about the fans, I've been reading over Chaz's review and I have a question. It says that fn+1 = max and fn+3 = med. Is the medium setting the same thing as the auto setting? I feel that most of the time I'll be using this thing I will just be leaving it on auto..so is fn+f3 the correct combo for that?

The 5793 is loud, no doubt about it. It has two blower type fans in it kicking out air constantly, and they do a good job but the decibels of the room suffers for it. It's not necessarily annoying, but it commands attention. At a LAN party with headphones or an otherwise loud place it's not a problem, but I would hesitate before taking it to say, the library.

I leave mine on auto. The original shipped 5793 in February had a weird fan pattern, it would speed up and slow down seemingly at random, but since then they updated the firmware and it's more consistent now. I'm not sure under what conditions you'd want to have the fan on max really, since the auto seems happy to crank itself up to max when it thinks it needs to.

    fn+F1=full blast, press fn+F1=auto
fn+F3=med, will speed up when necessary
however, mine never fully rotated by auto no matter what
