    What is muxless?

Has anyone successfully done this using a 6990m and the AUO 95% screen on a NP8150?

Should work fine with the CRU application. Though I am curious if that program works on the igpu.

I asked my friend on his y430, and he said he overclocked the lcd with CRU. So it should work here.

I couldn't get it to O/C the igpu, that's why I was asking for documentation.

Just tried this with a 7970m and an LG Philips LP156WH2-TLEA 60hz 1366 x 768 screen, seems to be running at 120hz just fine, please see my screenshot to see if I'm not mistaken.

Hwinfo should detect the frequency correctly right?

Or is there another way to check if it really has been overclocked?

looks good, you could also try enabling vsynch and playing some game that will run at over 120fps.

Looks like it doesn't work because the frame rate is 60fps so I guess that means my refresh rate is still 60, will try to change it with other software.

It looks like refreshlock actually works, but only if I set it to 120hz (anything between 120hz and 60hz just doesn't work, still remains at 60hz).

With 120hz the screen goes black so it can't be stable.

    That's a shame.

You have optimus so your nvidia chip has nothing to do with displays.

Wouldn't u generate more heat from your LCD if you OC'd it?

considering its such a large and thin area that can dissipate heat pretty efficiently,i dont think that the extra generated heat (if there even is any) would be a problem :)

sweet, guess I'll try this out when my 9150 arrives sometime next week. Though I didn't get the gamut screen but it's worth a try. I do have an asus monitor that can do 120Hz & i can tell the difference when it's set to 120Hz.

@scerate: which tool do u use in order to OC the lcd on the 7970m?

btw, u can always use the -xcl afterburner trick and force the idle clocks in overdrive when u dont need the powah :)

Tool i used was the "Custom Resolution Utility"

Using CCC with my own modded Profile.xml and yeah using it with the -xcl so that i am even able to OC via CCC, in terms of idle i'm running @ 62hz now which idles now like it did with 60hz which are my custom 150/200 Mhz, anything above 62hz my idle clocks jump to 300/1485. I already tried to make a 3D and 2D Profile with Radeonpro linked with my CCC Profiles but it never goes back to my 2D Profile.

@aduy: sure thing buddy, except in your case u can just use nvidia inspector, make custom clock profiles and use them via shortcuts :) thats what i used to do with my 485M

wait, were u talking about forcing idle clocks or about LCD OC? :p

@scerate: yeah, im on 13.1 WHQL as well

maybe this helps - this is how im using CRU:

in total, it shows three "AUO11ED Generic PnP Monitor" selections in my case. the first one I just leave the preset detailed resolution. in the second one i deleted the preset detailed resolution and left the box empty. the third one i used for my custom resolutions (deleted the preset resolution first). I chose "add detailed resolution" / automatic timing - best for LCD, typed in my specs, pressed OK and then rebooted my machine. after that, the custom profiles showed up in CCC in my Desktop Properties and I could select them as active profiles :) idle clocks didnt change, they stayed the same.

    cheers

I only had 2 PnP Monitors, but i cleared the second one and used the "add detailed resolution" / automatic timing LCD thingie" like you said (i copied the 60hz settings before) and now it works, big thx for that :D

I tried customizing some specific resolutions on my hdx and I can get to 85Hz with no issues, 90Hz will blank the screen with half black and half white/color before displaying the desktop after a 5th of a second, not sure if I want to try going past that :p

I'll try seeing if I can figure out what panel it uses.

I don't have much of a reason to keep it at 85 though, I doubt I can run any games that would truly benefit from 85Hz at 1920x1080 on a 9600m GT anyway.

That uses optimus so the intel chip is driving the display so this wont work on those machines.

Certainly a nice benefit to those machines which can, it's a shame there are not quite the choice of panels as for desktop users getting theirs up to the 120hz range in some cases.

You can overclock a mouse? Do you attach a motor to it's spinning wheel? (JK)

But seriously, how do you overclock a mouse? And what are you overclocking, the polling rate?
