Jep, was easier than i thought. booted the USB Stick go to the Biosfile-Folder and run the Update.bat that´s all. I din´t had a beep, i think it´s because i set the "Beep on Boot" to "off"

Hello. There are so many endless guides and tips on how to flash the BIOS of a 900F and ultimately none work. Could someone please precisely specify the procedure? I have successfully created a DOS bootable USN stick but from there I have no idea what to do.

There are suppsedly 2 steps needing to be done to update the 900F, first flash the EC/KBC first and then the BIOS... none of which I really understand what it means... I thoigh just the *.iso file conatining the new BIOS needed to be updated... anyway...

Step ONE is from a folder than contains the following files:
    D9F_03I.NS3
    ECD900F.03G
    ECFLASH.EXE
    PH1691.EXE
    STEP1.BAT
    STEP2.BAT

I placed all of these on the USB stick in folder I named clevo where I can easly go to at the prompt c:\clevo>

From there I was told to use the command "refresh" or "phlash16" NONE which of course works because there is no such file in there!!! If I type "ECFLASH" I do get a flashing utilty screen but then it asks me:
ROMFILE - Specify tge file to flash

From there I have no idea what I am doing so, it ends there.

    Next step TWO:
Step TWO (unless I am totally wrong) is supposedly burning onto a bootable CD the new 928BV03I.iso file. That I have not tried yet though I assume once properly burned the CD will boot into the flashing utility automatically... I have not done this yet because I did not do step one.

Basically, I have no clue what I am doing. Could someone in plain English provide a step-by-step guide on what needs to be done to update the 900F's BIOS and what files are needed or not?

This would be immensely appreciated specailly because if I do something wrong when flashing the BIOS, I will kill the laptop completely :)

once at the c:\clevo> prompt type "step1" (without quotes - this will flash the KBC/EC), then reboot again into dos, then type "step2" (again without quotes - this will flash the BIOS).

You could do the iso instead if you wanted, but as you've already got the USB stick done, you might as well use that.

Yes, the C:\ drive is almost always the boot drive, and as you are in DOS (a different operating system) C:\ is mapped to the USB stick

    Hi!
I've a Clevo m570ru (bios version 2) and I would like to update it to the current version 12. I've downloaded 57RU_12.rar and 57RUEC10.rar (I think the first is for bios and the second is for firware). When extracted both I get PHLASH16.exe, R12R10.WPH and ECM57RU.10 and update.bat.

I boot the pc with a pen drive and at command prompt I write update, and it gives me the error that it isn't possible to read 57ru_11.wph file!! I know the file isn't in the pen and I don't understand the situation, shoul I rename R12R10.WPH to 57ru_11.wph?

How can I update the firmware?

    Thanks ins advance

DO NOT FLASH THE BIOS BEFORE THE FIRMWARE OR IT WILL BRICK YOUR LAPTOP.

Gimme a sec and i'll try and work out whats going on with the files...

Edit: here is a fixed version of the bios files, including bios 12 and KBC/EC 11S (sagers .11 with fan control).

Delete all other bios files on your pen drive and use these ones then boot into DOS, run step1.bat, reboot into DOS again, then run step2.bat, and you're done :)

Thanks for the help therico, and thanks for saving me from bricking my laptop (bios is somehow only for pros) :)

I've downloaded your files and everything went fine, the only issue is that it did "recognise an unknown device" - is this the fan?

Can I download the driver an control the fan?

That is your bluetooth module, either install the drivers from your drivers cd (or clevo/sager's website) or turn it off using Fn+F12 if you don't use it.

Thanks - it is perfect now. Just to let you know the fan speed commands that you've written on the 1st page of the forum work perfectly as well :)

    Fn+1

    Fn+3 and

    Fn+2: the default

Thank you very much, I wouldn't be able to do it myself. It's too damn complicated! I owe you one ;)

I just used HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool on my external hard drive instead of my USB Flash Drive. I did everything up to step 5 until I realized the Drive Letter had magically changed when I plugged in the external hard drive and didn't notice. Basically I said yes to the first question but then it asked me if I wanted to format the drive and I said no. I didn't format it but I still cannot access the data on the hard drive.

    Edit---
I already found a solution by using a program called Partition Table Doctor that automatically detected that my extrenal drive's boot sector was mistaken and quickly corrected it in a quick reboot. If anyone else is having this problem I recommend using that program. Very easy to use and gets the job done with no hassle.

ok Hi everyone. Need a flash big time, new mobo and chassy, dropped my own parts in, bios is @ 1.07 and i need 1.08 at least to run my 8800m gtx at full speed.

Clevo m570RU-U phoenixgate(?) bios or something, says "Stylenote" at bootup.

Now i've the usb setup right, ive got the files on the stick to flash, but whne i get to dos i get a little flashing cursor and nothing else. I type and nothing happens, and eventually the damn thing just beeps at me whenever i type anything.

So i need help figuring this out.

PS will this keyboard firmware everyone keeps talking make my keyboard suck less?

@levito - download this file, it is the latest BIOS/KBC for your machine but with fixed filenames.

Extract all the files into the root of your USB stick. Boot into dos, then type "step1.bat" (without quotes), then rebbot into dos again and type "step2.bat".

This should get you through both steps without problems.

hey theriko, thanks for the reply. I grabbed your files and threw them onto the USB already.

Not working for me. Like i said, i get a flashing white cursor in DOS mode, nothing i type registers, eventually the machine starts beeping loudly at me when any keystroke is entered.

Does anyone know what's going on with this?

So you don't get the c:> prompt at the DOS screen?

For some reason your laptop is not booting into DOS properly, try reformatting the USB stick with HP disk format tool with the winME boot files and see if it works.

I have the three files on the USB although they seem to be totally invisible, like unhiding files doenst show them. Are those the winME files?

the bootme.zip at the beginning of this thread are the WinME boot files that the HP utility needs to make a bootable stick.

so you're telling me to reformat the USB rive again, the exact same way i've already done?

I get to DOS, i dont have a command prompt, reformatting the USB again, the exact same way i've done a few times already following the instructions, using all files and programs provided in this thread, isnt going to change anything.

I mean, will it? Is there some element of random luck here? I'm pretty sure i've done everything properly.

Strange, I don't know why you're not getting a command prompt.

What is your exact boot order?

Does anything come up on screen after post that doesn't normally appear?

USB is first in the boot order.

Basically, instead of windows loading, i get to an all black screen with the annoying white border, with a flashing white "_" underscore. Im thinking "great this is a command prompt" However, i type, nothing happens, i don see any characters on screen. I type "step1.bat" press "enter" (all without quotation marks) and nothing happens. No characters appear on screen, nothing happens when i pres enter. I try this again once or twice, and then my computer starts beeping loudly at me everytime i press any key.

This looks like a command prompt, but it isn't...

in the boot order, there may be 2 usb entries, are they both at the top?

If not, try that or try reversing the 2, otherwise try a different usb stick.

If you still have problems, try using the iso image version - I can upload it if you can't find it anywhere else.

i have been trying to use something like this to make a windows vista installer flash drive and do it from linux.
its silly, because there are programs like the one that comes with ubuntu (only for ubuntu images) and unetbootin (apparently only for linux images)
every guide i have seen references some windows program or a dos command which i cannot do because of linux. anyone know how to?
guess ill just have to try it on my moms laptop

As long as the files are actually there then even if they don't show up, it does not really matter.

Having said that, maybe you still have the ''hide protected operating system files'' box checked in windows explorer.

    M570RU & 8800M GTX.

Created boot USB, grabbed VBIOS (62.92.23.00.14) with GPU-Z, changed to 600/1500/950 with nibitor, boot to dos, find new BIOS file all okay

Won't flash with Refresh or Phlash16 command.

I get Bad command or file name.

I tried keeping the same file name and both .bin and .rom extensions.

Also, where can I get the best VBIOS for the 8800M GTX? Thought I saw 62.92.34.00.07 or something.

    Thanks.

    Anybody willing to help?

Yes, I bought an old laptop and you've all been over this for a couple years now, but I've searched and read and poured over countless pages of threads, posts, etc. I'm very close and I'm a quick learner. Just point me in the right direction.

I figured I needed nvflash so I extracted it to my bootable USB. Tried it and got "This Program cannot be run n DOS mode." I even put my newbios.rom and all nvflash files in root dir of bootable USB.

Please help. Yes, I'm a bit of a noob, but a quick learner; an engineer.

I just learned about OCing about 6 months ago and on the new desktop I built, I can go into the BIOS and change CPU clocks, voltages, etc. - easy. The ATI GPU is even easier with ATI Catalyst Control Center.

Also, this is the first time I've used anything newer than XP, so things like "Run as Admin" etc. are slowing me down.

I flashed the keyboard and BIOS with little help. Help me flash this VBIOS and I'll be done.

    Thanks.

I have been using this dos boot usb drive without any problems on my d901c and m570ru laptops for some time.

However, when I tried to use it on my desktop (Asus PT6 Deluxe V2 motherboard) it ignores the usb stick at boot time even if the bios detects it and the usb drive is the first device in the boot order list. I have tried to use both the floppy and the cdrom emulation for the usb stick to no avail.

Anybody knows if this behavior makes any sense?

It worked after some bios tweaks. It seems that Windows 7 (Pro) performs changes to the bios when after it installs the usb stick driver by replacing the usb stick after the hard disk in the boot order list.
