I picked up an HP 8800M off Ebay. The 570RU had a 7950 that: 1) has vertical hash during boot up, but has a clean screen in WindowsXP 2) will not complete a Nvidia Device driver install and 3) of course, will not go into 32 bit video.

Card installed. Laptop powers up and I can hear the Windows welcome chime, but does not display. Bios and EC are the latest, EC at .11 and Bios at .13a

I have not tried a second Monitor as that would require cables that i don't have on hand.

    Ant thoughts? AlanP

I tried an external monitor and got nothing on it. I tried various Fn+keys without any change in the utter blackness. Not a flicker... AlanP

Can you provide a picture or direct link to the Ebay listing?

The copper GPU cage for the 7950 on the m570ru does NOT fit the 8800m...

Using numbers marked on the GPU, I think this is a 8800M GTS, and not compatible. But I have found and ordered a FX3700M. EC already flashed to .11 and bios at .13a

I contacted the dealer to se if it can be swapped out for credit or ?

Hopefully the 7300 will get the Laptop going again. AlanP

    What numbers on the GPU?

I have had both compatible and incompatible 8800m GTS, the incompatible are from the HP HDX dragon.

Like I said, your 7950 copper GPU cage will NOT fit the fx 3700m. You will have to modify it.

I have a Machine Shop and I am a Mechanical Engineer by trade. I already used an Endmill to fit the 8800M board into the copper. It machines very easily.

G92-200-A2 was the markings on the GPU.

The FX3700M from Notebookparts.com should be here on Wednesday.

We have two D900C Laptops, one with 8800M GTX SLI and the other with GTX280M. The NP5793 [570RU] had a 7950 GTX and is the unit that needs help. But I will try to pick up a couple spare Video Cards along the way just in case.... AlanP

OK, a wrap up for anyone that might follow through this thread. My NP570RU with 7950 GTX started showing vertical lines of dots, clustered in rows of four across the screen at the boot and Windows loading screens. It refused to take the Nvidia drivers, including the original Sager drivers. The Laptop would boot and display. But the Screen was severely handicapped at 32 bit max resolution settings.

I downloaded the .11 EC and .13a bios from this site and using a boot CD that I created, flashed the bios. I tried a PcCard Drive to flash that I created and used on my D901C, and although it would boot to DOS, it refuse to read files on the drive.

I received an HP 8370x FX3700M 1gb NB9E-GLM3 MXM Video Card -488125-001 from NotebookParts.com. I popped the metal bracket off the base side of the Video Card and check the board to copper heatsink fit. It would work as is. So I installed the Video into the heat sink and then completed the install. Booted up perfect and recognized the board as a FX3700M. Life is now good... AlanP

Haha, and I was telling YOU about clearance issues :p

If only you were cursed by [slightly] lesser knowledge and had the blind faith necessary to machine some giant copper heatsinks and do some overclocking like us techies :D

About the other GPU. g92-200 is not something you should ever see on a mobile GPU. You could have something like a very early release 9800m GTX.
    Did you return it?

BTW, you realize you could have taken out 1 8800m GTX from your d900c instead right?

Hopefully those machines will last you a while, maybe you can get some 3700m in SLI in the future.

Ummm, taking out one of my 8800s to put in my son's Laptop was not an option... Unless I could find a GTX280M to drop into it, freeing up two Video Cards. Probably would be a small drop in performance. But the heat levels would also drop allot.

I plan to be on the hunt for a GTX280M. Are there better/worse versions of the card for using in a Sager/Clevo?

Speaking of heat or rather drop in heat, I am also getting a T9500 cpu to compliment the FX3700M. The Laptop should get him down the road for at least a couple of years.

Btw, the 8800 SLI in my D901C are getting a X3380 to warm things up a bit.

The Vendor allowed me to return the other Video for credit. We will see how that goes...

I guess that I need to do some searches... I didn't think that the FX3700M can be run SLI in a D901C.... AlanP

They were run in SLI on the old Alienware area-51 m17x.

Apparently the cable is not necessary and there are particular vBIOS that can do it.
Since the 9800m GTX was run in SLI on the d901c you could potentially find the vBIOS and flash 2 Lenovo cards with it.

What do you estimate the chance of success at? And would the resultant heat be too much compared to the current 8800m GTX SLI in the D901C.

BTW, I apologize for this brief off subject... AlanP

Does anyone here know where I can find 9800ms gs vbios ? or a vbios from another card that be the same as 9800 gs, and be compatible with M570RU.

I got one that was pulled from an Asus W90vn, but one I installed in my lappy and it shows boot video, but sound 30 senconds beep as some guys said and when the beep stops the lappy turns off.

I think I only need to flash a vbios from a clevo VGA card.

    Another resurrection... ;)

Just wanted to let you know what I found out randomly:
The M570RU CAN TAKE the GTX 260m at least with the latest .13 SAGER BIOS version...
I just sold my GTX 280m from my old M570TU (no need for it since it is at my work now and a 8800m GTS does the job there good) and the person couldn´t get a screen on his M860TU. So he asked me if I could flash a GTX 260m vBIOS for him to try to make it work and I agreed.
Put the card in my old M570RU (hinges are broken, not in good condition anymore), it beeped the 30 seconds and I then I flashed the GTX 280m to GTX 260m.
Reboot... Guess what - yes, no beeping, the computer boots fine and in windows is detecting the card as GTX 260m.
I don´t know if this only works with the very latest BIOS that was never officialy released, but obviously my version of M570RU can take the GTX 260m without problems. Have to say that I didn´t go any further and did not try any games or benches, though.
Maybe this could help some of you...

That sounds great. This might help other people that want to use the 280M. They could flash it to 260M and have it work with no problems.
