I plan to have the maximum power in the Clevo x7200 !!!
You can overclock the CPU Intel i7 990X in Clevo x7200 at 4.5 ghz ???
is this possible??? -

yehaa my two 485 is finaly arriving to morro bin stuck in customs for a month
started preping via lapping one of the GPU coolers to morro the other one is going to get lappedonly down side is dont have any IC D at home and its a B to get in Poland so i have to go with AS 5 but thats ok to
Have taken some pics will post them when im done with the other cooler and the cpu cooler and the shims -
Hi guys my pics and benching will be delayed a little ran out of sand paper for the lapping of the GPU coolers since i calculated that i could use the ones i had but i got new ones with the cards with a dif GPU stamping in them so the old ones wont due since the stamping is placed in a dif place so it can interfere with the cooling i think dont kill me if im wrong havent done proper mezurements but just looking at them there is a small dif so getting new paper to morro and trust me they arent straight any where alot sanding to do

might not be able to give valid online scores on 3dmark11
but you all are just going to trust me and the screen snip i will do a full screen snip so you all get the time and date as well if its more trustfull il make a pic with a cam insted -
Sounds like a great score! Congrats...
What´s the GPU score of that run? Did you turn off PhysX? -
did you take a shot at gpu core? curious about your batch -
i ran about 30 benches with Vantage all documented i was running the CPU at 3.9ghz to get this score 33016 with a 60994 CPU score
But CPU scores eyrlier was much higher top i think was 66682
here is a link to my score 33016
im not on my BBy wright now other wise i would load ia pic directly but -
Give us some 3dmark11 scores, Torment78!!! But 33000 in Vanatge seems like an overkill, sometimes i forget it was ran on a laptop)

Great job, Torment! 28.6k GPU score - wow!

here is the Heat zinc Like it comes before i remove any thing
By torment78 at 2011-06-17
the thermal pads are very fradgile so be careful when removed put them on a clean plastic film and dont remove the green plastic put so its facing up
the preaplied Paste you need razor blades for and alcohol to clean of dont scrape to hard so you scratches becouse they are hard to get out

The striped area is where dip is and the paper havent started to take yet or on starting to take

Started with 240 grit and just do the movment like when you lap a CPU up and down in 40 reps den turn 80degree do 40 more untill almost flat then go with 320 grit just do the same but this time untill its compleatly flat then go for 400grit rotate after 40 then when you see there only markings from the 400 paper and its still flat keep on going to a higher grit count you be ok to stop at about 1000 or 1500 grit then you just get your polish paste and a cloth and start going at it when done clean with alcohol to make shore that no paste resedue or finger prints left on the heat zinc bada bing your done

I also have a question for you have you heard any thing regarding the Bclk multiple
becouse its eating at me since if it is Bios locked then its possible to unlock it
But if its hardware locked then its a dif story
and if the Mobo cant handle it the we are scruwed -

So here are my new and last Benches with the 6970m CF - too many problems and so I will change them to GTX 485m SLI... cards already here, waiting for the heatsinks...
The cards are great when they are working, but since just too many programs are causing trouble with crossfire that I would like to use, I am back to nvidia...
So here with 11.6 the last and highest Benches I could reach - and with the I7-970 overclocked, doesn´t seem to make a difference now to 990x(going up to 3,8 GHz). I didn´t try to push it to the limits, there maybe still is room for some more OC with the I7-970, I´ll try later with the 485m...
Vantage
3dMark11
3dMark06 -
Good luck with your 485Ms and I hope they serve you well. -
Hi ichime,
thanks!
Wow, that´s interesting about your M17x-R2... Did you post some Benches anywhere?
I think one card can not overclock the memory that well, it did get a little better when I changed the master/ slave. But of course, if one card can´t go higher than it´s the end of it.
I don´t have that many issues as with the ES ones before, and in many cases I can get work something out like using RadeonPro etc., but that get a little bit exhausting after a while...
Most of it seems driver related or has to do with the programs... like in Shift 2 unleashed, I now get 50-60 FPS since 11.5b but nevertheless sometimes after a race I get a black screen.
Or in Red Alert 3, still get BSOD´s with high shaders.
They solved the C&C3 problem with 11.6, that´s one.
And with Dirt 3 I had no problems since the Patch. That almost made me forget about the trouble, but as soon as I "dare" playing one game from the ones that didn´t work properly before, I get more than reminded...
I will see what I can get going with the 485m cards and if I get similiar problems, then I think SLI/ crossfire ain´t for me for a long time starting now... and I had to pay a good bill for that knowledge.
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...6970m-your-m17x-r2-single-gpu-crossfirex.html
I didn't go any further because I only have a 240w PSU and the overclock was close to tripping my system.
I have a feeling though that things will be better for your system with the 485M cards since Clevo's dual GPU systems are always built around nVidia cards. But if you do have the same or similar problems, my next venture would be to look at the RAM modules because those have been known to cause some issues in EA published/developed games. -
Finally! Heatsinks for the GTX 485m arrived...
Did some Benches, stock and with "GTX 580m" stock clocks... should be interesting to compare them to "real" GTX 580m.
And did some OC with the i7-970 up to 3,8 GHz... and some more to the GPU up to 700/ 1600 (mem)/ 1400 (shader) with 1V - will do some "serious" oc with the 1.03V vBios I found and post again!
So, my first impressions, and I think I maybe one of the only persons who switched from 6970m to GTX 485m in X7200...
1. Stablilty: So far, NO BSOD´s, black screens or other with 485m... Shift 2 Unleashed runs great in SLI in highest settings without crash - other than 6970m... NO crahses with Red Alert 3 in highest settings anymore... can run "Assasins Creed brotherhood" in highest settings - couldn´t with 6970m CF. Crysis 2 with Patch 1.09 runs great in DX11, Ultra settings. 30-40 FPS average. No flickering or slow downs as with crossfire.
2. Benches: The stock benches are LOWER than the ones with the 6970m except in 3DM Vantage... but not too much. And if it can run games more smoothly, it is worth it...
3. Temps: The temps with 6970m were good - but idle was at 250/900 at 50-60°, and with GTX 485m it idles at 40° and lower clocks WITHOUT problems.
Highest temps were 80° with Furmark running about 4 minutes. I think if I can do a better paste job, it will even go down...
4. Overlocking: The GTX 485m seems to be a good overclocker, better than 6970m in the X7200... but I am at the beginning right now, will do more after I played some games and get some real game experience...
From what I´ve learned about the 6970m in another chassis, like P170HM, or from what I´ve read about the Alienware M18x, 6970m runs much better if not in X7200! I don´t know if it´s just my X7200 or in general, but my conclusion is: Go with nvidia in X7200 - if you have a P170HM or an Alienware, the 6970m might serve you well...
Now this thread is about Benchmarks... here are some: Of course with physx disabled!
STOCK CLOCKS - 3D Mark 06, Vantage, 11
Clocks of the GTX 580m - 3D Mark 06, Vantage, 11
Stock clocks GPU, but I7-970 overclocked! - 3D Mark 06
GTX 580m clocks, I7-970 overclocked! 3D Mark 06, Vantage, 11
Overclocked the GPU (1V, not 1.03 yet!) and the i7-970:
-
Better try driver tweak to install 580m driver on 485m.
That could not increase benchmark scores but may be helpful to gaming performance.
BTW: I always speculate nvidia would turn to 580m and stop optimizing 485m's gaming performance. -
Congrats with the results, Tirenz!!! It's better to have stability rather than performance in certain titles. Seems like you've scored both with Nvidia cards. Hope you'll achieve better results with the next 280.xx drivers (probably official for 580M) and 1.03v bios) x7200 rocks!
-
So does it get lower than 30 fps in Crysis 2 DX11? did you bench with the system stock or OC'ed?
-
485m and 580m should use the samer driver, or am I wrong?
One Framerate got as low as 26, but all other were 30, highest 60 FPS.
Runs great! -
However, I checked the nvcv.inf in 580m driver on clevo site, only 560m and 580m are included. -

? what reason??
me 280.19 too
vantage no improve at all
3d11 gpu score rise to 61XX -
The 280 Beta driver seems to be a real beta-beta-driver
.
Not only that I didn´t get any improvements with that driver (Benches, games I play, though I can finish them all with my 485m), Dirt 3 stuttered a little bit here and there and then and I got my first crash/ black screen with a stuck sound at the end of a Dirt 3 replay...
It seems to let the cards run hotter, too.
So I rolled back to the 275 drivers... -
yeah the bf3 alpha i was doing crashed a few times as well.
-
wondering how many bot can bf3 add -
