As much as I enjoy my machine I have to agree. I have friends that want what these Clevo DTRs offer but don't want to have to tear it down, inspect the pads, and deal with crappy heatsink that will cause the machine to go nuclear unless it fits properly. For this QC inconsistency I can't recommend the machines until this issue is addressed seriously.
It's such a shame but what would really move us forward as a whole is the problem actually being recognized as a problem, so it can be addressed.

Well, I can see both sides. There is no question that the P870DM3 with 7700K and 1080 SLI is the best current technology high performance notebook available... period. It has no match in terms of performance. Once the KM has it's firmware problems fixed by @Prema, the same comment will most likely apply to that model. With the stock Clevo BIOS, that is not true because the EOL DM3 is still the boss. Every Clevo I have own has been a product that I would never want to own without Prema firmware. While this is the only high performance notebook that I would spend my money on today, contingent upon having Prema firmware mods, the direction things are headed I anticipate that it may also be the last one.

The hit or miss thing with lousy fitting and/or poorly designed heat sinks is totally inexcusable and it's not a new problem for Clevo. The crippled system BIOS and EC stuff is also inexcusable. The stock firmware truly sucks, and having to fix all of the messed up stuff to make everything function as expected is just becoming way too much hassle at this point. I will probably just use what I have until it is dead and too obsolete to be worth fixing when it breaks and go back to building my own desktops. Also kicking around the idea of selling it while it still has value and using the money to build a desktop and getting out of the notebook scene sooner than later. Will decide once I see how the Prema vBIOS turns out. Since everything he does is excellent, it might be too awesome to sell and I might want to keep it. If there was not going to be a Prema vBIOS it would already be up for sale or sold.

Days like yesterday I am glad that I have it. It's an excellent product after the factory defects are corrected. I love how it looks and how big it is, too. It's a wonderful beast after it has all of the kinks worked out. Without the kinks worked out, not so much.

    hey @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER

I tried the latest version of testmem5, the program runs really briefly compared to hci memtest that I'm used to

usually with hci I would let it cycle through 800% (overnight) to ensure that ram is fully stable, am I doing something wrong with tm5?

    already run as admin

    Thanks in advance.

I just recently bought a (crazily OP) HTPC mini itx box and everything in the uefi gui bios was unlocked, took about 20 minutes to dial in and test a moderate OC (3.9 @ 1.2V on the 5775C on its tiny low profile aluminium heatsink), the xmp profile for the ddr3-2400 loaded straight away, custom fine grained fan curve was easy to set... Everything just worked. Boring little black cube.

I can do 4.8 but temps start to reach up to the 90c's while gaming.

So I started with Mr. Fox's settings from his YouTube video to get to 5.0. I then went to 4.9 and -50mv. I currently have a delidded 7700k with the c-clips removed and I'm using IC diamond until I do the big teardown for paint and putting on the bitspower IHS. I was thinking about machining my own IHS out of copper but I haven't had a lot of time. I'll start modeling one based on the bitspower soon.

I have a friend with a delidded km1 and his won't run 4.7 with any less than -80mv. His settings are 47,46,45,45 and runs about 10c warmer in the exact same a/c environment.

I thought damn near all DM3 owners are. :D

I am able to do 5.0Ghz in cinebench, TS bench, and 3DM11 @ 5Ghz by increasing the power limits and multipliers alone. Haven't had time to test higher much yet.

Are you referring to this one?

I was thinking of getting the skylake version for my 7700K.

Yep that's the one. I wish I ordered 1 of each since I still have to use a shim anyway. I tried to change the order but Bitzpower suck in the communication department. It really seems what works for one machine to another varies wildly. Such is the state of Clevo's half a$$ and frankly disgusting QC.

If you or anyone else wants to swap a 7700k for a Skylake version let me know. I'm not keen on paying that shipping price again just for one part. They need a snail mail option.

    Right there with you.
I'm pretty close to a perfect contact setup with the Bitspower SKL IHS', I'll post my finding in a few days. The GPU setup however is all over the place.
    Flat heatsink - 15 C Delta.
    Slightly warped Heatsink - 3-4 C Delta :/
I just dont get why we need to have so much wiggle room with such a spacious chasis and good frame.
I do understand that the heatsink is heavy and the GPU dies need to be protected, but that can also be achieved using extra screws "AROUND" the GPU area, to make sure it doesn't move around or squeeze down too hard.
But the way things are it's just plain sloppiness.

It has to be ran in administration mode.
So you would need to set compatibility to admin and save. Then reboot computer and it should run as expected. Unless your time spent running the test is of something different based on size of memory installed. How long does it run?

Also got my heat spreader from bitspower. Still debating if it's actually better than my stock one. This one looks different from what was posted in this thread.

So I'm looking at this new 7700 IHS from bitspower. I don't like the machining on it. There seems to be an unfinished pocket for the die and I don't know why there are threaded holes on the bottom. I don't think the IHS is going to sit flat on the die. Does anyone else have one that looks like this one.
