Heh. Better than 3 am and 35 °C... Has definitely happened where I live, and this place is a concrete+plant jungle. Not a good combination. -
Do you have winter season at all?
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Dude, I live ~100 km away from the Equator... What's 'winter'?
We have a few options: bloody hot and dry, bloody rainy and still hot and humid, bloody rainy and humid and slightly cold. -
Ah. Sounds like me

I love hot and even humid weather... but there needs to be a beach close by.

Grass greener on the other side, I suppose. Let me assure you that hot weather gets extremely tiring when walking in office attire, let alone when you have to march dozens of kilometres in the blazing sun with a backpack full of water and food, and with body armour...
I'd rather London weather. -
Cant agree more! Love SF and London Weather!

Well, Romania gets from -20 to +45 C to you're going to not only get roasted but also frozen in the same year

My account was wrongly banned for spam the other day. Reinstated quickly but every thread and post of mine is gone so every thread I had some posts in is all screwy. -
Yeah, It's all your fault. I can see this. Regarding your info, You have posted only 3 posts in almost 9 years. Hopefully they fix it. Stop posting spam. J/K

can you do an AIDA64 Extreme stress test for 4 mins and survive it?
or are these clocks just for casual benching?
-
Those clocks are for real benching and they're super easy. Even 5.2GHz is not too hard. But, that is is too much for normal everyday use. I run at 4.7GHz for that.
Here is my personal take on extreme stress tests like that. Maybe I am a big weirdo, but this is how I look at that. I don't mistreat my employees to see how much abuse they can handle, and I do not torture my computer components just to see what is going to happen to them. I don't toss a brick onto the accelerator of my parked car and run a stop watch to see if the engine can run wide open redline for 4 minutes without blowing up. I treat my people and my things with respect and kindness so they enjoy their jobs, but I do expect them to work hard, achieve excellent results and follow all of my orders explicitly.
wPrime 1024m and Cinebench is about all I am willing to do in terms of CPU stress. But, yes... I could put it on the AC unit, as I generally do with all benching, and it would run through that 4 minutes of AIDA64 agony without issue. Once the test finished I'd have nothing to show for it. No meaningless points, nor leaderboard ranking... no personal pleasure or entertainment value... no claim to victory... nothing but a stressful 4 minutes that served no real purpose. So, for that reason I just don't do them.Last edited: May 3, 2017 -
Yeah, stressing parts for the sheer "look at me factor" is highly over rated. I will not be burning up 1500 dollar cards so I can say I benched it on air in a 100F room while sitting on the bed with vents covered in the middle of summer. Only to hear....Did you have the door closed or the window cracked because that might have undermined the testing. Can you do it like this. Turn on the furnace and the central heating unit.....Yeah, I don't think so.
But on the other hand...My system will run perfectly fine at 5.0 ghz and no ac or extra fans.
-
I'm 110% sure Kaby Lake in Clevo P870 series can run nicely with 4.9-5.0 or even 5.1GHz in Aida64 Stress test over longer period. Skylake is a worse binned i7 but run nicely with 4.6GHz in Aida64 with my U3 and maxed fans. But I do not intend to push my machine unnecessarily. Aka put on higher clockspeed for long term stress testing. Maybe P775 series can run cooler in Aida64 due the shared heatsink with no load on graphics.

Annnnnd... I have run out of thermal materials in general, I get some more delivered tomorrow.
Also Saturday is penciled in for more work on the stand. I have fan grill on the way for that too

Oh yeah. I'm just happy it worked; I know some users have plainly stated they cannot hold 5GHz.

Maybe not so relevant but I put it here Gamers Report Core i7-7700(K) temperature spikes

Yeah it's sweet being able to finally break the 5ghz barrier. I've wanted to for ages.
Although some of us have had some harsh things to say about these machines, they certainly did get a a lot right. But I guess we complain because we care. I really hope Clevo step up and take on what I view as 'top notch feedback' from members here.
I wonder if it has something to do with static voltage not really behaving as static?hmscott likes this. -
I dunno about *THAT*.
Ha. Yeah. I still have many issues with this thing but the motherboard is generally solid as per usual.

I see you changed the original thermal pads below the cpu... what measurements are those? did they make any impact in cpu temps? -
Seems like Eurocom dropped the price on the MXM 1080's -

.5 on the inductors and I think 1.5 on the chips, whatever to bring it to the same level as the .5. -
Do u remember seeing any difference in CPU temp? Trying to tweak mine as much as possible to lower my temps. -
That's Canadian.....Which is still 1500.00 USD

1250.00 USD, but 30 days warranty. -
Eh, that amount translates to about 1095 USD.

Not sure what you are trying to point out , but their prices are in CAD, not USD not Euros.

Yeah you are right. I had the wrong conversion up.

So, testing new GeForce 382.05 drivers ( @j95 mod as always). Mixed results. Some good and some bad with new driver.
As for the DM3 and SLI it was an improvement. SLI is working now, so that is very good. SLI was 100% non-functional before and had to be disabled in the Global profile in NVCP to play GoW4. Nice that this is fixed now. See screen shot.
New problem, RTSS OSD causes the game to freeze at the first screen with menu selection options to start the game. I tried all three rendering modes (2D, 3D and Vector), tried stealth mode and custom DX support and all have the same problem. If I shut down RTSS the game launches normally. So, I cannot monitor thermals while playing. The problem with RTSS OSD causing the game to freeze happens with SLI enabled or disabled. I will test Gears of War Ultimate and see if it is only GoW4 that has the problem.
Another problem, but not for me since I do not use v-sync. After updating to the new patch from the Redmond Mafia, v-sync was changed to enabled by default. I was having really horrible screen artifacts on menus in GoW4. I found v-sync enabled. Turned it off and artifacts were immediately gone. For those than feel v-sync is good and wish to use it, this will not set well. But, but for me it’s fine since I hate v-sync and always have it disabled.
On the Tornado F5 the screen backlight turns off like all other drivers after 378.78 do. I may end up going back to the 60Hz G-Stink screen until MSI and NVIDIA can work out their issues.

New isn't always better
The full list of OS-specific issues is below:
-
@D2 Ultima - RTSS OSD works fine with GoW Ultimate Edition, only messed up on GoW4. (I know people ask you for game help in other forums as well as here, so that's why I am tagging you.)

They always have something, LOL. Good ol' NVIDIA. I wish the known issue with the black screen on Pascal requiring a reboot actually meant something with the 120Hz screen on the TF5. Rebooting doesn't fix it. Stays black until you boot into Safe Mode and DDU the cancer drivers.
I don't understand why they are listing updating the drivers requires a reboot as being a bug. Not rebooting after installing a new driver seems kind of stupid to me. I've always kind of thought of that as a best practice, LOL. Seems like you would want overwritten files and those pending deletion to be taken care of immediately rather than waiting for something to glitch out. But, I know some of the silly kiddos hate rebooting for any reason. Maybe that's why it was listed.
@bloodhawk - look at the second to the last bullet point in the list of GeForce cah-cah that @Papusan posted. Are your issues with HDMI or internal screen, or both?
Well, that's a nice drop in price from where it was. Once it drops to the price that 980M was selling for it might be considered "kind of good" pricing, LOL. Still way too much money for an MXM card. Should be same or less than the price of a desktop 1080 if things were as they should be.Last edited: May 4, 2017 -
Unfortunately i have not connected it to an external display since it came back. So its all internal display.

Here, try this version of RTSS. Use it with this version of MSI AB. Let me know if it helps!Mr. Fox likes this.
