But you didn't say if it was delidded though.
-
lol its a SL chip, its delided. i have had years of gambling lottery with silicon and i dont exactly have good luck. this time since i got a barebone i went for SL chip and just paid extra be done with it, just wanted a decent clocked computer i could use, and to feel a comparison against 1680v2 clocked at 4.2ghz
-
ok, fair enough
-
have to say though, though 2 cores less, the extra IPC bonus + clocking it at 4.9ghz for daily usage with 8700k makes up that difference of 2 cores, in multi threaded scenario its similar to that of 8 core and in single threaded area, which is like 90% of my software PLUS OS itself, its like 25% faster, definitely much quicker and snappy.

Hello everyone,
I was playing crysis 3 last night for about 20 minutes when i started to get some throttling. (it does not seem to happen in other games, however crysis 3 is very demanding so this might be the reason) I have prema bios on my p870km1 and 1080SLI. Temps are not the issue here since both GPUs stay under 89c, CPU also stays mid 80s. I saw the CPU frequency graph under msi afterburner and you can see like a 1 second or 2 second dip in the frequency of the CPU and not the GPUS, after the dip it goes back up to 4.7(oc frequency) and everything is back to normal for maybe another 10 minutes then it does it again. I notice it happens during heavy gun fights.
It seems like the system hits a power throttle wall there.
I got 780w Eurocom power supply so I can read the wattage and crysis does pull 480-500watts.
I got 7700k @ 4.7 Static Voltage 1090V
Dual 1080 In SLI
p870km1 with Prema Bios.
Nvidia released new driver recently so I will try to update that.
have any of you experience anything like this ?Last edited: Jan 10, 2018Mr. Fox likes this. -
Hi Brother @Juang1985 - happy New Year.
I love Crysis 3 (actually all the Crysis franchise is awesome). I would say it is probably my favorite game of all. The behavior you are seeing is normal for Crysis 3. I have this video (below) in my YouTube channel and it does that at one point on my P870DM3. My desktop does it, too. I honestly believe it is something with Windows trying to manage power and it just glitches out once in a while. If it is not that, who knows. I think your hardware is probably working correctly since the temps are good. It never stays throttled like that for me for more than a brief moment, so if that is all you are seeing I would not worry.
-
Thanks @Mr. Fox and happy new year to you too. Okay seems good then. This is the only game that causes this type of behavior. I can bench all day and I don't get throttling. Wont worry about it then.
Thanks Again !Ashtrix, Prema, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Do you remember more or less at what point it does it in your Crysis 3 Video? I would like to compare it to mine. My goes like slow motion for like 2 seconds FPS drop to probably 30s then jump back up to 100+ -
Around 8:20 or so it drops from 4.7GHz to 4.2GHz and stays there for a while, then goes back up.
I have c-states disabled in the BIOS, which may minimize it some. If you have it enabled, might trying disabling c-states.

I showed six months ago a much cheaper option of two MSI 1070s fitting in a $400 P370EM shell with 10mins of dremeling and held 60MH/s eth. 295-300W wall draw off a single 330W adapter
Still a retarded option compared with desktop hardware prices for the same setup if space isn't a limiter -
Those clowns are ruining everything for the rest of us... buying up everything they can get their hands on and leaving us with leftover garbage. Go ahead and sell it to them for 25% more than it's worth, because it seems like these idiots are willing to pay extra for their precious mining crap, LOL. What we are witnessing with today's crypto-currencies are just the first baby steps, a 'purposefully leaked public beta' to test the waters.
In the long run, none of those crypto-currencies you are seeing today will last. At this point it's just a huge waste of electricity and more of a pyramid scheme than anything else.
In the near future I see the combined end-user computing power being used to get some actual work (AI, folding or even on-demand calculations) done and this computing power being 'rewarded' through a coin-ish system maybe even by governments in the way of a world-wide digital currency to "save us all" from the 'great collapse' of what we call money today. (I am aware of systems already doing that, but at this point they all lack implementation, standardization and the backup of those 'in power').
But what do I know? I am just a guy with a Notebook...Last edited: Jan 12, 2018StormFalcon, Ashtrix, electrosoft and 8 others like this. -

It depends, there is still lots of money to be made. I've made more money from Crypto in the last 3 months than I make in a year at my salaried job. Just mining XMR or ZCL overnight when you're not using the machine would more than offset the depreciation of the machine over 6 months. There are a lot of "Scam" coins out there sure, but trust me, some of these Blockchain technologies will change the world. Mining coins with Proof of Work general consensus algorithms are old tech. Soon most Blockchains will move to Proof Of Stake which relies on Master nodes and staking without any physical mining of blocks.
Unlike the general consensus I know Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology is going to be the next large step in networking technology. It's just a matter of time before decentralized peer to peer based smart contract exchanges replace traditional ones bound by governing laws and regulations.
I apologize for going outside the scope of this thread, but I thought it needed to be said.Last edited: Jan 12, 2018 -

Nope. No room in my life for worthless garbage like that chintzy Heinz 57 soldered abortion.

As we already know, just because stupid people document their stupidity in print, doing so doesn't make them any less stupid.
Indeed. A direct result of making things up as you go along and telling lies one day at a time. Probably also safe to assume they don't know what they don't know.
Clearly, they have limited knowledge and speak from an ordinary consumer's frame of reference. Compared to a smartphone or tablet... yes, that is high end. Compared to a real computer, it is below average and unacceptable. Move the decimal point one place to the left on the price, and I'd say they have a real winner, LOL. I'd pay $80 USD for that, but not much more than that. -
Not only call it “High end”. “High Performance” Must be on top
Reviewers is some Strange animals.

That's the stupidest comparison I could ever hope to make, though. By that logic, the Apple Watch is a computing device and any old phone is very high end, and even the weakest possible desktop you could purchase is high end.
Besides... are phones REALLY that low end compared to such a computer? I'd like to see an actual multithreaded benchmark on one of those snapdragon 8-core CPUs versus an i5-7200U. Since as we know, Geekbench 4 tests are skewed to the moon, with an i5-4210M beating an i7-4960X in the tests they tried to pull claiming that the new Apple A11 CPU was "faster than desktop chips"Ashtrix, ole!!!, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -
Of course, stupid comparisons for stupid people that make stupid choices on hardware. They deserve nothing less than that. I think they have to rely on flawed products that produce erroneous results which allow them to successfully process their lies and deception. They can always blame it on the benchmark if they are questioned about accuracy.
What do you have against animals? Seems kind of harsh to reduce animals to their level, doesn't it? At least the animals do not lie. They probably have a similar IQ, so in that respect the comparison is accurate.
Edit: Seems fitting... we are the boulders and we are outnumbered.
Speaking of animals...

For most people coming from a 1st or 2nd gen core series then it is different, always worth keeping in mind that's the majority of people.

Doesn't make it high end. By this logic, a 1050 is high end to someone upgrading from a 560M... but this is simply false; 1050 isn't even using gaming class silicon according to Nvidia. You never saw those geekbench tests? The tests were skewed so badly to make the Apple chip look so impressive when it was non-sustainable and ignorant of multiple cores. By that logic, the iPhone 8 is faster than an i9-7980XE CPU-using system with it's chip clocked to 5GHz

I feel that there is a market for a lot of different products and if sold at a reasonable price tag I would also get some slim BGA system with NVIDA card for family members who are casual user.
BUT, some ODMs clearly have to stop advertising their underpowered and overpriced trash as being the fastest Notebooks in the world, because they are not, have never been and never will be as long as they don't use LGA chips and keep limiting their firmware.Last edited: Jan 13, 2018 -
There's a market for a whole lot of things, I agree. May not be for me or you, but definitely for many. As you say though... it's ridiculous. I've not found a single review of the predator 21X that DOESN'T claim it's the fastest notebook of its time, for example. It's not even close. Unless you use it in overclock mode it basically ballparks a single 1080Ti in synthetic tests.
Media outlets don't help the matter either. -
Thats way i have chosen P6 from Clevo. It can act as multimedia notebook (with some tweaking for CPU for battery usage (lets cal ULV profile in TS) as for powerful gaming machine (not extreme). The successor PAXX looks even better...

Pretty much. I personally would want to replace my current heavier 16L13 with a MBP/MB Air/XPS 13 in the future. I am a pretty big fan of Apple's designs and their products nowadays. It does make some sense to have a powerful desktop but I am no longer seeing the need for powerful laptops for me. A lighter machine can easily handle the tasks of watching Netflix for me.Ionising_Radiation likes this.

To elaborate, what I mean is that everyone have different products they desire and a choice should be given to everyone.
Thats all.hmscott likes this. -
There are more than +50 different choices if you want mediocrity, but only a single choice if you want something decent in mobile computing. Pretty scary numbers. And more will come... Even weaker mobile processors than we already have today is ready to enter the notebook market (Snap Dragons). What a choice given to everyone. From worse to even worse.
-
Until they actually stop making A high end notebook, it's pretty much irrelevant. And If you do not have the best of the best in every single last thing you do, then again it's irrelevant. And that is literally everything you come in contact with that you claim as your own.
Examples:
If you don't have a phone over a 900 dollars
Your car isn't a minimum of 180K
Your home is isn't a minimum of 1.5 Mill
Your watch isn't in the 100K range
Your TV isn't over 75" and oled Last years model.
Your car stereo if aftermarket isn't over 1000K
And if you are a true gamer, you had better own every game damn near made. Including the ones you don't like.
Headsets over 1000K
And so on and so on.
This bashing kind of really needs to stop. Really.Ionising_Radiation, ssj92, hmscott and 1 other person like this.
