    Hi gents,

Any tips on memory overclocking in regards to secondary voltage (pll + uncore and the like) tweaks on a prema powah P87 dm1.

Been playing with 2x 8gb gskill 3200mhz sodmims (samsung B-die) which i can happily get to run at 2966mhz with timings of 16-17-17-38 (421 rfc) on 1.2v. For the life of me i cannot seem to acheive a meaningfull improvement even when running stupid memory input voltage of up to 1.5v. And thats with lots of slot swapping, training time and a tons of CMOS resets.

Best i could acheive was 3004mhz 15-17-17-38 on a single dimm @ 1.4 - which makes me feel im doing something fundementally wrong or its just the silicone lottery.

The most annoying thing being that the sub $100 second hand 2133mhz rated samsung OE ram i run in the P75 happily does 2800mhz 15-15-15-36(374) @ 1.2 and when doing the old latgency test of freq / cl it comes out on top!

It has fun playing with thaiphoon burner and have learnt alot so thats the +ve thing :)

I got rid of Windows 10, so I can't run it. No longer dual-booting. Only using Windows 7 at this time.

Getting ever closer to that rated speed though your latencies are going to be about the same as the stock speed and timings so only 5% bandwidth off. That's probably hard to even benchmark the difference.

That's not really why I'm doing it. It's more of a being first to get the ram as close to the rated speed as possible. Along with getting it to somewhat function. :)

    Side note:
The bandwidth is already higher than 100 percent of any other laptop at the moment. :)

He's also using CL 17-18-18 while default at 3600Mhz would be CL18-19-19... ;)

Exactly so latencies about the same, just a bandwidth deficit of around 5%.

i donno man in overclocking term that extra bandwidth and lower CL is pretty impressive tbh. when it comes to few points in OC everything matters

I'm not criticising the speed, I'm saying he is getting the stock overall nanosecond latencies of the kits rating it's just the throughput that's slightly down.

Latency = speed/timings which is roughly the same for his settings and the kits rated.

So it is just the peak bandwidth that's down just a tiny bit which will be hard to even measure with benchmarks.

Considering that CL16 is the default speed for our 3200Mhz RAM I think running 3600Mhz at CL17 is pretty darn good.

i just went back and saw your message again and you have bioshock in there.. if you're only playing for the sake of good story i can understand why you included bioshock but honestly, the game play of bioshock is just trashy vs DX, thief and SS2. bioshock is too similar to modern game, more linear etc, bioshock infinite is even worse.. not like the small open worlds of thief.

New version released today Futuremark 3DMark + TimeSpy v2.4.4254 (February 5, 2018). The latest version forces hardware monitoring information to be sent to Futuremark for validation of scores (and not just a general hardware and drivers probe).
    v2.4.4254 (February 5th, 2018)
    Improved

    • The installer is now available in Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.
    • To meet our improved score validation checks, hardware monitoring information is now required for competitive submissions to the 3DMark Hall of Fame.
    Fixed

    • Restored the 3DMark splash screen when starting the application.
    • Fixed a crash that could occur when the system returns unexpected values for the amount of video RAM.

Does anybody the exact settings for an oc for the P870TM1-G. Id like to get 8700k at 5.0ghz and my memory at 3000mhz. I have the corsair memory variant rated at the 3000mhz but is being read at 2666mhz even when i use xmp profile.

If not then an undervolt with 4.7 all cores would ve just fine. A point in the right direction is fine is well. Please and thank you everybody. Btw its for the bios not xtu.

Man...though life for you and for honest modders who tried to get the most out of their Clevo's, maybe it's too late now to show some support and maybe you are already over it, but hope everything is better and to see you back on track helping people, good luck with the Prema project, I'll keep an eye on you if you don't mind. I'm just getting into modding so that's why my reply is this late :p

so after almost 1 yr of having the shunt mod i wanted to give a little feedback and undid the mod just for the sake of it + wanted to look what happened so far, removing the liquid metal was quite easy and was still relatively liquid and looked good even after transportation cold/hot different humidity etc. but yeah it seems the gallium in the LM eats away the solder, the RS3 shunt actually came off after i slipped a bit and without much of a force, don't worry the card still works after i resoldered the shunt. What i immediatly noticed was that my 1911-1923mhz clocks dropped to about 1730-1780mhz and they moved up and down like mad according to MSI AB, i expected that yeah but damn after all this time with that mod i never thought it would be that bad but seemingly i was wrong :D so i think i either stay that way and hope Volta MXM get's here or i just do it the right way and buy a programmer to flash the vbios chip like some of you did, with quite good results, cause so far the book still runs like a kitten after some magic sparkles.
