It's a bit sad that's now the "value" option.Falkentyne likes this. -
When a community member such as @Prema does what he does, adding incredible VALUE to product lines such as our BGA-killing Clevo systems, we show appreciation.
I cannot even fathom him flashing a BIOS for me, or consulting his services, without paying him for his time and skill. And even if he fully commercializes the Prema Mod BIOSes, that is up to his discretion.
What I f*cking HATE is the entitlement I see around here. No, really, f*ck that ****. Pay for value that you use, simple.
Stealing intellectual property is still theft, and that bullshitting cannot be overlooked. We know who you people are, going behind Prema and Co and reselling their work. If you're one of them, choke on a pound of steel.DreDre and electrosoft like this. -

Stop tolerating intellectual property theft.
Funny, how someone can "afford" a ~$3000+ Clevo system and still come here to beg for BIOS and EC mods.
Disgusting filth.

How would you live with the knowledge that your life's work is being peddled like a whore for high coin with no credit or attribution to its' creator?
Even if these BIOS mods were "free and 'open source'", you'll still get swine **** selling them , or removing Prema's name and signature from them and taking credit for "BIOS haxxxs".
And I know that there are some resellers that peddle "unlocked BIOS option" systems to this day and quote Prema in their marketing departments for a sweet surcharge (The $200 crew) and if you're one of these c*nts, get f*cked. I only found that out because I was like...How the hell did I miss this nonsense! And had to go pretty far back to find the original post.

Because not every store has a contract with Prema..
In Portugal Clevo Center is a scummy company that is using the Clevo name without permission, that sells their Clevos at a higher price and offer a crap of a warranty service where the owner will always end up paying for new parts..
And they have an exclusive contract with Prema and no other shop can ever sell a laptop with Prema mods in Portugal, there is both Obsidian-PC that decided to do his own mods, and there is Inphtech that ships stock BIOS as far as I know.
Not a lot of people will be willing to buy a laptop from a shop across Europe that will hinder warranty in case its needed instead of buying from a PT shop that you can hop on your car and drive there if you want it as fast as possible, or to see the laptop in person.
People beg because they dont have another option, and because half the value of a Clevo is having a modded BIOS, heck they are only as famous as they are due to BIOS modders that turned them from turds to decent pc's.. -
Well, right now is not a good time to build a desktop unless you already have a GPU to avoid getting screwed on pricing or you love paying 200% of MSRP just because you can afford to be a fool with money. There's no way in hell I am spending more for a FE 1080 than a Kingpin 1080 Ti or Titan GPU is supposed to cost. That's mega-retarded to say it the nicest way I can. Damned miners have screwed up everything as far as availability, but it's not the miners' fault that retailers are shafting us. If NVIDIA were actually sincere about trying to stop the price gouging they would start completely shutting off distribution to the retail channels that are rectally molesting customers and start giving preferential treatment to those that are not. This is what the prices are supposed to look like: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-store/
BUT, you don't have to stop being part of this community just because you have a desktop. I didn't. (Not sure why you're still part of T|I pirate bay community though. Scratching my head on that part.)
The worst thing that can happen is that building a desktop will make you less tolerant of crappy laptops, and if more people were less tolerant of garbage and would let the castrated and broken filth rot on warehouse shelves that could have a positive net effect of laptops getting better instead of staying on the path to the dung heap that they are headed down with the throttle stuck wide open.Last edited: Feb 28, 2018Ashtrix, DreDre, Vistar Shook and 2 others like this. -

yes very true. i was already thinking about getting a cheapass GPU just for the system to be working, my focus would be on the CPU and RAM anyways ^^
and yes again, i would most likely be following your example and contribute more to the desktop section of NBR
to be completely honest, im not as active on TI as I am here, but visiting here and there for hardware mods by @Khenglish or driver mods by @j95
whats that thing about TI pirate bay? mustve missed that! please enlighten me...
as for being less tolerant of crappy laptops: thats actually what i want to avoid, because desktop users tend to just all out ignore laptops, even Clevo-like DTRs and just repeatedly state crap like: dont overclock a laptop, it will burn/explode/cause a black hole to form, blah blah
prefer to keep my ignorance level in check
@Meaker yes thats always a possibility. although id probably downgrade my laptop hardware wise once a desktop system is assembled... -
TI is running coin-hive in the ads for one..

iirc @Prema and @svl7 are (or were?) actually part of the TI crew and thus supported that system so the statement "not giving them anything back" is kinda superfluous in that regard? correct me if im wrong though! just remember both of them directing / informing new users in that regard whenever complaints were coming up...
coin-hive in their ads? lol, seriously? javascript based mining? well im glad i always got an adblocker switched on
Scerate likes this. -
Their files are still there, Prema already complained about them, svl7 retired a long time ago, files still there.
I also frequented that forum, and I also run adblockers, doesn't counteract the fact that the owner is doing it, and not everybody uses adblockers, and you see newbies there everyday..
For more info, ask prema about that. -
Nope. Khenglish, Prema, j95, svl7, johnksss, Nando and I am no longer part of their "crew" because of the sketchy stuff that has been pulled. We all decided to distance ourselves from that nonsense. Three million graphics cards were sold to cryptovalutors in 2017. Worth $ 776 million in 2017 (Includeded AMD and Nvidia - And Nvidia ain't the big one is this game). This small amount money in the whole, is the reason you have to pay up to 200% of MSRP, Nice. This smells like willed price policy. Nvidia or AMD ain't interested in increased production (Not willing to pay more than necessary for vram - And they aint interested compete with the Mobile industri). Why should vram manufacturers use their capacity on something that will give less earnings?
Remember AMD who who argued for all too high price for HBM2 vram. AMD's move was to keep low production and try to push down component prices. This won't work with gddr ram. And both know a crash in the graphics card market will come if and when the miners suddenly stopped buying their cards. GREED!!Last edited: Feb 28, 2018 -

re laptops vs desktops
I personally have no need for a mobile pc, reason i like DTR's is the concept of amazing performance in a compact form factor. The challange of tweaking/modding and acheiving good results in such a compromised engineering package is where i get the enjoyment.
Desktops are easy mode
-
haha i think thats a good sign that ure enjoying ur travels
thats true, and one of the main reasons why laptop enthusiasts are so much more knowledgeable than their desktop counterparts. they have to dig way deeper in order to achieve similar performance numbers, whereas on desktops u have all those "automatic one click overclocking" functions and thats it (at least for the majority of desktop users... as if most of them would have the nerve to actually do manual tuning
)

Very true... desktops are easier and generally less expensive unless you go with HEDT parts. Things being unnecessarily complex and complicated by flawed engineering and manufacturer incompetence in laptop world is not a flattering reason for having more advanced skills and technical knowledge.

waiting too till April/May to see what Zen+ really does, my 3770k still packs a punch for gaming, when adding streaming to the mix well, yeah you notice that some "optimizations" aren't there, but about the GPU thingy you said some posts back, i would absolutely have no issue to borrow you my 980TI if i can get hold of a secondhand 1080TI (discussing that already with a friend) or a 2080.
And yeah i know about the notebook stuff was super fun to tinker and find the throttling stuff the applied everywhere lol, for me personally my p775dm3-g is mostly used as a console now on my TV, and for occasional LAN parties, but it still wrecks everything and most PCs even when mine is the handicapped counterpart of the mighty P870DM series

Hey fellas! I'm about to embark on the process of downgrading my Haswell CPU microcode from 0x1D to 0x06 using this method, so that I can overclock my 4720HQ to hopefully 4GHz or higher for more frames in PlanetSide 2!

True, if you are a bling-monger you can go nuts spending money. But, that is optional. It could also be viewed as a plus that you have that capability, should you choose to do so. Some people enjoy customizing their desktop and it can be done in stages as cash flow allows. Or, not at all.
It is AIDA64 Sensor Panel. It is included with AIDA64.

The RGB stuff did not even exist yet so yes it is even more tempting now (if you have the cash).Mr. Fox likes this. -
Yes, I agree. And, RGB usually jacks up the price considerably. I really like RGB stuff, although I do not care for the animated lighting. I like having the ability to set different colors. Having the option of only blue, red or green LEDs and no ability to change it to a different color is worse (to me) than having no LED lighting. I like red, blue and green, but not 24/7. Variety is really nice, but white light I like best. Most of the time I have everything set to white and I could live with white LED permanently and no ability to change colors.

[QUOTE = "Sr. Fox, publicación: 10689269, miembro: 213711"] Es verdad, si usted es un bromista, puede volverse loco gastando dinero. Pero, eso es opcional. También podría verse como un plus que tiene esa capacidad, si decide hacerlo. Algunas personas disfrutan de la personalización de su escritorio y se puede hacer en etapas según lo permita el flujo de efectivo. O, en absoluto.

@Mr. Fox @Johnksss so got my 1.8v adapter yesterday and sadly i think my SOIC Clip is a dud, the tool only recognized zeroes, tried a different usb ports, 5 times checked if everything sits correctly :/ wasted about 2h checking out everything but no dice guess i have to RMA it, i know there is a DIY clip but i didn't find anything yet to deliver to austria and no i don't have ebay and maybe i should get a multi-meter to check the connections
-
Right click and extract it. With AIDA64 running, right click the system tray icon (down by the clock) and start to sensor panel. Once Sensor Panel is running, right click it and choose the Sensor Panel Manager. From the Sensor Panel Manager you can change everything as far as selecting sensors and layout. Choose the option to import and select the backup file you downloaded.
it could be a crappy clip. I have worn out a couple and one I had was no good brand new. The connection can be flaky since it only hugs the legs on the chip. Does the programmer ID the chip correctly? If you have not selected the correct chip, it will not communicate properly. It could be either issue. Also, check in Device Manager to be sure the programmer shows to be functioning correctly. You may need to manually install the driver for it using the "have disk" method and pointing to the INF file in the software package. -
Hello, no the programmer can't detect the chip at all, i don't know the exact error right now but it only said 0x0, device manager seemed to be fine cause i looked at it too, took your advice to the heart.

Edit: yeah it seems that el cheapo thing is just trashtier, i remembered i had a old defective 780M here and i thought, great way to practice just with that, but yeah after trying trying trying the max i only got out of it was 256KB of random Code "25" "2D" etc. even when using my notebook i got the same, guess i have to get the good stuff then
to get my 170W

Maybe it does not have the code for your chip. If you look it up manually reading the numbers on the chip, do you find it by browsing for the chip in the software database?Scerate likes this.
-
You don't need to rma it you just have to be very very patient.
First make sure you installed the driver for the programmer and it does not have an exclamation point over it.
Then make sure you have the number 1 pin in the right location. That is in three spots. The clip that plugs into the 1.8V adapter and the 1.8V adapter that plugs in to the programmer. And the clips end on the chip.
When using the cheesy clips it can work first try or take a day to get it just right on the chip. Best to use a magnifying glass to see exactly what you think you are clipping too. All 8 legs have to touch solid. You can actually hold the clip on to find the right spot at first. Then once you get a feel for it....Then you can just do it by feel.
Side note: Best to get one of the better clips. They will save you many of BS hours trying to get things to work. -
thank you very much I got it ... xd..Mister Fox
-
just noticed there is another page lol, i edited my previous post but the TL;DR version is that i'm quite certain that the clip is just a PoS, i found a defective 780m i had for a while now to practice but even there no go, just some scrambled bits at most. It seems like 1 pin doesn't have any contact at all and the plastic is pretty thick, maybe i cut the plastic away and bent the contacts more inwards to get the proper contact i need. Oh and @Mr. Fox yeah sure sure the Chip is in the list, i even tried finding the chip when using my NB now cause i thought "maybe i have just some USB Issues" but nah, already shopping for the good clip right now, want to get the 170W going, Shuntmodding was fine for almost 1 yr but i noticed the solder got pretty bad and soft (?) so yeah the Gallium in Conductonaut isn't that great, i first thought maybe i should just apply some hot glue over the liquid metal but then i thought, like now, i want to do it the proper way.
-
I would check the wires then. On those cheapy clips that is what breaks first.
And you will either get a good read or no read. Nothing in between. Unless of course the clip slips off...
