You could have bought a new mb for that! Also, many times the pins can be bent back into place

Ikr? A new mobo from rjtech runs is at 355usd i think. Add shipping and i am looking at a higher figure than 400. They tried to put the pin back in its place but it wouldnt post as per their(helixph aka local sager distributor) email. I hope they were telling the truth bec if i find out nothing was replaced i will lawyer up on them to get my money back.
Here is the email quotation they sent me.
"Your charges would be:
1. Freight to US Estimate Php2900
2. Freight back to Manila Php3000
3. Helix Service charge (Php3,500 for this kind of service)
4. Repair Clevo Php8,000
Total = 17,400 (Estimate)"
Php= philippine peso. -
I bent a pin on mine, it crossed another pin (obviously bad news, luckily not a power pin). Tweezers and very patient moving it back, and I was in business, although sometimes it can't work (short cpu, board, wrong height of pin after bent back, or connects wrong because slightly off, including sliding to touch 2 pads). More than likely, they rma'd the board and got a new one installed, with them eating labor and you paying for part. But maybe it was repaired. ..

Very often actually. I messed up my LGA 775 pins so many times and moved them back with a needle without issues.

Anyone knows a good fan controller that uses 4 pin connectors for 3 12V fans? thanks

Use a SATA to MOLEX converter and hook it up to a 12v 2A (Preferably a 5A) MOLEX power adapter.
There are controllers out there as well, but not entirely worth it for the price they go at. Might as well get a fan hub like won above and hook up fans to it.
Or you can get one of the sinlge fan controller and hook up the PWM cable from the hub i linked to, to that.
OR you can use a fan controller with a power input and split its fan out using this : https://www.amazon.com/Phobya-Y-cab...467326829&sr=8-13&keywords=pwm+fan+controller. -
I bought the SilenX and that crap is only for 3 pins while the fans have 4 :/ is there anything like that but with 4 pins regardless of the price? It seems easier for dumbos like me since it has an AC/adapter and dont have no connect anything to the mobo.
-
I really haven't come across 4 Pin controller yet. Other than the ones for desktop cases. might as well just convert the fans to 3 pins

Dont know ifits a good idea or if it even works... damnit. Now im stuck with 3 fans and a controller that doesnt work for them.
-
If the controller is for 3 Pin fans then why wouldn't it?
Im sure it should, please correct me if im wrong. -
I have no clue about that im just guessing. The fans have 4, the controller's have only 3.... how can i make the fans a 3 pin? breaking 1 of them? isnt that risky?
Hopefully @Papusan can help me here, since he recommended it to me
maybe he did not know the vadar's i got were 4 pin :S
If not so i can return this 44usd dollar piece of uselesnessLast edited by a moderator: Jul 18, 2016 -
LOL NO.
Use an adapter.
And all high RPM fans are mostly 4Pin. Specially if they are PWM.Papusan likes this. -
those are the fans https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-furious-vardar-ff5-120-3000rpm
-
I have those as well, and they are amazing 3000rpm PWM fans.
Just get adapters or a 4 pin fan controller. -
Help me here what adapters can i get to get this fans working with this controller ? I like this controller because it has an ac/dc plug better than plugging it in the mobo... can you guide me and thanks
Maybe @Phoenix knows something,Last edited by a moderator: Jul 18, 2016 -
I'm curious if anyone has overclocked the screen to better refresh rates?

My FHD goes to 105Hz no issues. The 4k AUO however goes to 63Hz tops.

Well I guess I need @Papusan

I can get 120hz but Nvidia only seems to save 100hz in the Custom refresh settings. It will pass the test but not save the profile. Anyone experienced this?
-
I am at 100hz. I would love 120hz but my screen goes black on me rofl.

I have 3 modded U3 coolers. Here's what I used on my last U3 mod:

For me the 105hz saves , but anything other than 1920x1080 in games and the refresh rates clocks down to 75Hz. Weirdly enough if the panel can do FHD at 105hz it can do better at a lower res. (im talking 1280x768 here for CSGO)
-
Lucky you. Yeah I don't know what the deal is. I do the test at 120hz.. it says it passes then doesn't keep the profile.. It's really annoying. I'd love 120hz. If I use EVGA pixel overclock that seems to work but I don't want to have to manually do that every time.
What drivers are you using?Georgel likes this. -
Right now im on the 4k Panel, and i barely use it since i have a 144Hz BenQ hooked up. But when i was using the FHD panel on the laptop, i think i was on 362.XX drivers.
-
the fans that i have are 4 pins.. https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-furious-vardar-ff5-120-3000rpmv
The silenX controller i got is only 3 pins... Is there a controller for 4 pins? with ac/dc adapter? i dont want to use the mobo to supply the power. Or if theres something i can buy to adapt to the Silenx 3 pin outlets and make them 4 pins? -
Even if you wanted to, you cant supply power from the motherboard like that (and USB ports top out at 5V , those fans are 12V). Easiest way, as i explained earlier, just get 4Pin PWM to 3Pin adapters and use the existing controller. Much easier and cheaper than hunting for a controller with 4 Pin connectors. Also AFAIK most external controllers dont even use PWM, its only used for connecting to the motherboard and curve/temperature based control. (something along those lines)Papusan likes this.

couldnt find what you told me or i really dont know wth im looking for
-
-
so if i buy this one https://www.amazon.com/Phobya-4-Pin...7399040&sr=8-2&keywords=4+pin+pwm+to+3pin+fan
I connect those to the 3 pins from the controller and the fan on the 4 pins and just use the ac/dc adapter to power it on? -
Those are female connectors. You cant lesbian up the controller and that cable. That cable is to power 3Pin fans using a power source with a MOLEX connector.Last edited: Jul 1, 2016Georgel likes this.

USB hookup for full control.
-
why can nobody understand me or help me on this endeavor :/ Ive said I am a total ignorant on this... I got a controller that only takes 4 12V fans with 3 pins I have 3 12v fans but they have 4 pins. What can i do to make that work. Bloodhawk gave me some link but that got me eve more lost. The controller is with an ac/dc adapter.
-
Get these or something made like them... http://www.moddiy.com/products/Fan-4%2dPin-PWM-to-3%2dPin-Sleeved-Adapter-Cable.html
The second link that @bloodhawk gave you included an adapter like the one in the link above.
Plug the 3-pin end into the controller. Connect the 4-pin fan wire to the 4-pin female socket on the adapter.
If you don't want to use an adapter, the easy solution is to buy fans that are 3-pin. You can buy new fans with 3-pin connectors for about the same price as the adapter, which would be a cleaner solution.Last edited: Jul 1, 2016 -
Got the fans already... they are 3000rpm... i want them... ill check the link
So i guess ill need to buy 3 of those. since there are 3 fansLast edited by a moderator: Jul 18, 2016 -
Then your only solution is to buy adapters like those bloodhawk and I provided or buy a controller made for 4-pin fans. Or, eliminate the extra wire and replace the male end connectors with 3-pin connectors. The extra wire is not needed for the fan to function. It should run full blast without it.
That should be really easy.Papusan, Georgel, Terrablade and 1 other person like this. -
cant find controllers with ac/dc adapter that have 4 pins... but ill buy the 3 little thingies if that does the trick...

I actually posted in the wrong thread once XD
Niow that I posted here, might as well ask this XD
Anyone around here, managed to compare how much it's felt in real day to day activities to have a 6700k instead of 6700 vs 6700hq? I mean, can one feel the difference? -
You can buy 3 of these for less than the cost of one that I posted. There's nothing special about the expensive ones so don't waste your money... go cheap... won't matter.

For me, specially when gaming and doing the type of 3D Rendering / Simulations work that i do in Houdini and 3DS Max, its night and day. What is the clock speed difference im running here , like 1Ghz per core?Last edited: Jul 1, 2016

You can probably run a Core2 Duo, i3 or i5 for doing ordinary day-to-day activities and not feel that much different. I guess it would depend on what one's daily grind looks like and how they use their system. If they do a lot of CPU intensive stuff all day I'm sure it would be evident. For doing stuff like web surfing and email, a bottom-end Atom, Celeron or Pentium CPU is adequate.

Thank you!

Seems like these might be affected by CPU performance. What I'm curious is how much? Synthetic benchmarks show an improvement of 25%, is it this how much, is it more or less? -
If you do it once with evga it should save it's own profile to the nv control panel list....That doesn't happen?
-
Nope
