I was talking to a eurocom represenative about a few things and i asked him about the new graphics cards! ATI 5870 will be in this machine, and also the new GTX 285M! Just a backlit keyboard and its all good.

Wait, so they'll be offering both the ati and nvidea card?

    That just doesn't sound right..

Well, it is the most customizeable line of notebook on the market. Why not? Dell has 'em beat with the M6500, far as GPU selection goes.

Yeah the options of what you want to put in this machine is limitless no holds barriers. Dell does have a hold on them with the quadro fx3800m but wait they already have it for the machine on eurocoms website!@. But sorry to have you excited March 2010 is the ETA! Oh well until then The precision Reigns unless the 285M comes out soon. Eurocom is charging an arm and a leg, he told me that they will match sales with xoptic pc but how about that 3 year labor and parts warranty standard? Just wow so many options and so expensive.

In the M6500, the standard Ati Firepro M7740 is a strong card as well, and that has been available since September. Why has Clevo remained stingy with the D900f GPU selection? Clevo can't possibly have that many GTX 280M in stockpile... It's the king of workstations, and there's money to be made

could they not have just done away with the battery and insted put in a desktop GPU card?

I guess that would just be too good to happen :D :D

Yup you would need a power supply twice as big, and it deff would not bee a laptop workstation. Clevo needs to stop being so stingy with this amazing machine time for an upgrade, which will be in two months and how about the 980x core i7 sheesh.

you can do that, you will need a e-SATA cable to connect to your HDD. And I believe you will need to power the HDD externally since the eSATA port might not be able to power the HDD.

inside of Vista/Win7 its plug and play
for XP, you need to plug in the eSATA device before powering up the system.

In about two months the ati 5870 will be ready to be released. Damn that card only runs at 50 watts lol. I am very close to ordering it through eurocom they price matched me very well from xoptic pc. Only 2,430 something around the price.

if your thinking of putting the ati card in the 9280...not sure that's going to work....the bios has to support the card...and not sure clevo is going to be going for that....speculation of course...and that's if you we're talking about the 9280

It says right on eurocoms website when you go to configure it. Man I am stuck between this and a m17x or m11x I am just so sick of buying machines so much. I am more interested in a m11x anyway. I just want something that will last and man I don't like sloat loads much even though two of my machines have them. This seems to be able to last for a few years and totaly upgradable.

Well I do play games hardcore on a quadro fx 3700m for most of the time I get some pretty high frame rates mass effect two stays steady on 1600x900 at 60 frames. Gta lv is also good. I do a lot of video editing etc.. I am getting into running vmware etc... The alienware 17x and this machine are about evenly priced I can get the m17x slightly cheaper though but with a core i5. I just would like to have a led panel on these sagers but I am told it is good and I once had a lg philips screen which is what I read this one uses.

nothing wrong with the i5 cpu...
and the reason for good fps is because your resolution is 1600x900
it's quite a bit different when running at 1920x1200 or 1920x1080.. you wont get anywhere near those numbers maxed out. :)

m17x:what is the screen size/gpus/and cpu in it?

But then the m17x is a bit more powerful i just feel a quadcore is not worth it dual cores still rock and the i7 has a lot of probs with throttling.

Consider yourself very lucky, considering the horror stories I and others have had to go through dealing with that company and it's president.

My next Clevo will definitely not be from them.

Just got my 9280 on Monday. Man this thing flys.....I can't believe how fast it is. I really had my doubts, even with a desktop i7, that a notebook could keep up with a comparable desktop rig. No doubts now, lol.

I did some tests comparing my desktop i7 920 oc @ 3.2ghz to the 9280 i7 960, and the 9280 is just as fast as the desktop (work chores that is!) Of course it can't compete graphically, but that's not why I bought it.

What's really amazing is this notebook is just as powerful, even graphically, as a top end single card desktop rig from only 2 years ago. I get almost the same type of 3dmark06 on the 9280 as I used to get on my Q6600/680i/geforce 8800 rig. Pretty darn nice!

The only complaint I have is the noise the ac adapter makes....sounds like a hard drive clicking away. I thought with ssd's I'd have a quiet system...I have to put the adapter behind my printer so I don't hear it...really bothers me. btw, fans aren't loud at all to me.

Yea, I'm there...trying to get up to your 3dm06 result. About 80 points away...time to get this lappy cooled down and maybe do a volt mod flash (if I figure it out).

Power keeps going on and off tonight as I live on the US east coast and we got hammered with a wicked snow storm...benching doesn't look too good for tonight.
