I had no problem installing the 195.62 and the beta that came right after it. Did you use driver sweeper is safe mode before you installed the new ones? What specifically happens when you try to install?

nice. i'm reading up on this machine. and i'm thinking about getting this one. i have the np9262 so i know what's up but i have 4870's in crossfire right now and maxing out every game. so i'm alittle worried about that. :(

Yea, dondadah, it would be nice to have the best of both worlds....the D900F's cpu power w/ ati crossfire. That would simply be unstoppable. At some point in the future we'll get something like that...for now, we have to struggle with our choice.

You know the 280m well (285m now, but not much different), so you might be disappointed with the graphics capability.

I use mine for work, so I need faster cpu 90% of the time. This notebook is my first experience with SSD's, and I have to say it makes windows snap. It has a much faster feel than my i7 quad-sli desktop rig. Gotta get some ssd's for that too! It's just $$$$.......

I've been benching my desktop (trying to keep up with johnksss, you know) and get some points for the team, so I haven't had time to try the vbios yet. I'll let you know.

Been having a hard time getting vantage to run on this note book, and just isolated the problem tonight.....some application processes running in the background were causing it to abort mid test. Disabled them, now I'm good.

New poster here that has been seriously considering pulling the cord on the D900f for some time now for FSX. With the I7-980x around the corner and perhaps a bios update or two , 4GHZ+ stable on air should be the norm. I see that a few folks run FSX in its basic form, but would be curious as to the impressions of the folks that run it with some of the heavy weight addons such as REX HD clouds, GEX, Ultimate Traffic, Ultimate Terrain, PMDG 747 & MD11 etc. Are you folks able to get anywhere close to 25 FPS at busy airports with weather?

It says it cant find the card for my system. I tried to do an .ini hack I found on a forum but it bluescreened my machine so I had to roll back the drivers. The "have disk" method doesnt work either for some reason! It says there was an error and it couldnt install the new drivers.

You shouldn't have to mod the driver...did you get it from the nvidia site? You are probably trying to install a newer driver, but not for the 280m. Even though the desktop drivers have the same number (185.85, 195.62, etc), they will not work with your mobility vid card.

Here is the 195.62 mobility driver link for Win 7/Vista 64 bit: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_x64_195.62_whql.html

And the 32 bit os driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_195.62_whql.html

Flight simulator is supposedly CPU heavy, so I would imagine the D900F would be the notebook to run it well. I've never used it, so I can't comment for sure.

yes, but to be fair...bench the games in high mode, because very high under 30fps is not considered fluent play... :)

I see when looking for hdmi cables to hook my np9280 up to my flatscreen that there is a wide variety of cable, from good to better, also offering a wide differnce in range in bandwidth and color depth and max hz.

So my question is in this laptop, what are the max outputs our hdmi port can give?

    MAx bandwith
    Can it exploit fully :
    Deep Color:16-Bit
Video Refresh Rate: 480Hz (probably a vcard factor instead)
    HD Bandwidth: 21.6 Gbps

I hope my question makes sense :p

Just get one of these. Monoprice.com is the only place for cables. This is an 8ft cable, the 15footer is $15 bucks.

Maybe that's not your question, now that I re-read your post.

Speaking of HDMI cables.. Just picked up a 12' Belkin for $50!! ordering Monoprice tomorrow and returning the Belkin. Thanks for the link..

On a different note.. I hooked the D900F to my 47" Samsung 1080i 120hz LCD and started messing with Google Earth. Looked pretty good with the GTX 285m but I was a little disturbed by some stuttering in the motion.

I'm not sure about this but I think it may be that the system was set to 60hz. The LCD supposedly runs at 120hz but I don't have a setting in Nvidia control panel to get there. Running win7 pro.. I would like to mess around with Nvidia's 3D glasses and I'm wondering if there is a way to push the output to 120hz.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    IC

I did look through the list of all available rez and hz settings.. They max out at 60hz.. I checked to show settings that were not supported.. All of those settings maxed out at 60hz as well..

I did a little research on the matter of supposed 120hz LCDs.. Turns out that the 120hz was not a true 120hz but more of a sales trick.. Im a little disappointed in that but oh well.. Kinda funny that Samsung just released news of its first REAL 120hz 50" 3D ready panel this month.. Slap in the face.. So much for Nvidia 3D for me..

    Ok Dondadah, I ran SF4 & RE5 benchmarks:

    i7 920, GTX 280m (no overclocks)

    SF4 1920x1200 59hz Score: 7179, Grade: B, FPS: 50.93 (High settings, No anti-anal)

    RE5 1920 x 1200 32 bit Static test, FPS: 48.9, Grade; B Avg (default settings, except resolution)

    RE5 1920 x 1200 32 bit Variable test, FPS: 54.3, Grade; B, stage 1 58.0, stage 2 58.4, Stage 3 46.8, Stage 4 55.2. (default settings, except resolution)

What do you mean, run through a level. You mean just eyeball the fps?

Also, by max out, do you mean oc the vid card? I already pushed the resolution and settings to their highest, except for AA setting.

also for nfs. Just do a race with fraps and see what you get. That's all.

    RE5 Fixed Bench

    STOCK RUN (HIGH SETTINGS)
    DX10 1920x1200 32-bit Grade: B, FPS: 49.1 (Highest settings, No anti-anal)

    OC (630/1050/1550)(HIGH SETTINGS)
    DX10 1920x1200 32-bit Grade: B, FPS: 52.3 (Highest settings, No anti-anal)

Looked pretty smooth to me. The longer bench test (variable) looked real good too. Takes forever though. 54.3 fps, highest settings, no aa, 1920x1200, no OC's.

i dont have one at the moment, but i did buy my d901c from them.
it had 9800m gt's at first...for about a week. and they we're acting stupid. so i rma'd for 9800m gtx's...had it for another week and one of the gtx's started acting funny. they sent me another box to ship it back to them..replaced the cards and sent it back. there is a little language barrier thing there, but all in all..service was quick and they gave me no hassles.

rjtech is the best place to buy for the home building laptop guru...
and if they have the newer cards...they will sell them to you.

great, sounds like i will be going the rjtech route now... I know malibal is awesome in the CS department, but i want barebones... i dont like the seagate hdd's they use... nor do i like paying 800 for shipping when rjtech does this for free...
