I had no problem installing the 195.62 and the beta that came right after it. Did you use driver sweeper is safe mode before you installed the new ones? What specifically happens when you try to install?

dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
nice. i'm reading up on this machine. and i'm thinking about getting this one. i have the np9262 so i know what's up but i have 4870's in crossfire right now and maxing out every game. so i'm alittle worried about that.
-
Yea, dondadah, it would be nice to have the best of both worlds....the D900F's cpu power w/ ati crossfire. That would simply be unstoppable. At some point in the future we'll get something like that...for now, we have to struggle with our choice.
You know the 280m well (285m now, but not much different), so you might be disappointed with the graphics capability.
I use mine for work, so I need faster cpu 90% of the time. This notebook is my first experience with SSD's, and I have to say it makes windows snap. It has a much faster feel than my i7 quad-sli desktop rig. Gotta get some ssd's for that too! It's just $$$$.......
I've been benching my desktop (trying to keep up with johnksss, you know) and get some points for the team, so I haven't had time to try the vbios yet. I'll let you know.
Been having a hard time getting vantage to run on this note book, and just isolated the problem tonight.....some application processes running in the background were causing it to abort mid test. Disabled them, now I'm good. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
fraps will mess up vantage.
i know how the 280m is yes. i just dont want to disappointed in my choice thats all. -
New poster here that has been seriously considering pulling the cord on the D900f for some time now for FSX. With the I7-980x around the corner and perhaps a bios update or two , 4GHZ+ stable on air should be the norm. I see that a few folks run FSX in its basic form, but would be curious as to the impressions of the folks that run it with some of the heavy weight addons such as REX HD clouds, GEX, Ultimate Traffic, Ultimate Terrain, PMDG 747 & MD11 etc. Are you folks able to get anywhere close to 25 FPS at busy airports with weather?

do you have any games. i'm looking for gaming runs to see if a single gpu would make my happy. as long as it can play games decently.
-
I can load Crysis if you want? Or I can DL a demo game of your choice.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
crysis is good.
nfs shift has a demo
re5 benchmark
sf4 benchmarkand just john stranghold.
sorry for so much work. -

BTW if you have not read the whole article i recommend it. Its a damn good read -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i'll look into it more but i wish they did runs at 1920*1200.
-
yes, but to be fair...bench the games in high mode, because very high under 30fps is not considered fluent play...
-
ok, gotta dl these suckers first!
1hr 23 min remaining............
I can't promise it quick, but I'll get to them.....
I have my i7 920 in there now, so that will give you the worst possible scenario, ok? -
opps...looks like my HWbot sig just got canned, LOL! Guess it was too big, oh well.
Edit: correction: HW bot site down tonight, that's why no sig. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
take your time.
i know... it seems it is to big for nbr for some reason. -
I see when looking for hdmi cables to hook my np9280 up to my flatscreen that there is a wide variety of cable, from good to better, also offering a wide differnce in range in bandwidth and color depth and max hz.
So my question is in this laptop, what are the max outputs our hdmi port can give?
MAx bandwith
Can it exploit fully :
Deep Color:16-Bit
Video Refresh Rate: 480Hz (probably a vcard factor instead)
HD Bandwidth: 21.6 Gbps
I hope my question makes sense -
I got the 920 cpu -
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10240&cs_id=1024004&p_id=4967&seq=1&format=2
Maybe that's not your question, now that I re-read your post. -
yeah I was thinking of the output limitation of the laptop hardware
-
Speaking of HDMI cables.. Just picked up a 12' Belkin for $50!! ordering Monoprice tomorrow and returning the Belkin. Thanks for the link..
On a different note.. I hooked the D900F to my 47" Samsung 1080i 120hz LCD and started messing with Google Earth. Looked pretty good with the GTX 285m but I was a little disturbed by some stuttering in the motion.
I'm not sure about this but I think it may be that the system was set to 60hz. The LCD supposedly runs at 120hz but I don't have a setting in Nvidia control panel to get there. Running win7 pro.. I would like to mess around with Nvidia's 3D glasses and I'm wondering if there is a way to push the output to 120hz.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
IC -
IF so,
Did oyu look under the CHange Resolution tab of nvidia control panel? DId it not list different hz you coul dselect there in the refresh rate box? -
I did look through the list of all available rez and hz settings.. They max out at 60hz.. I checked to show settings that were not supported.. All of those settings maxed out at 60hz as well..
I did a little research on the matter of supposed 120hz LCDs.. Turns out that the 120hz was not a true 120hz but more of a sales trick.. Im a little disappointed in that but oh well.. Kinda funny that Samsung just released news of its first REAL 120hz 50" 3D ready panel this month.. Slap in the face.. So much for Nvidia 3D for me..

Ok Dondadah, I ran SF4 & RE5 benchmarks:
i7 920, GTX 280m (no overclocks)
SF4 1920x1200 59hz Score: 8720, Grade: A, FPS: 59.26 (default settings except resolution)
SF4 1920x1200 59hz Score: 7179, Grade: B, FPS: 50.93 (High settings, No anti-anal)
RE5 1920 x 1200 32 bit Static test, FPS: 48.9, Grade; B Avg (default settings, except resolution)
RE5 1920 x 1200 32 bit Variable test, FPS: 54.3, Grade; B, stage 1 58.0, stage 2 58.4, Stage 3 46.8, Stage 4 55.2. (default settings, except resolution)
How would you like me to test NFS shift? That's a blast... -
-
-
That's probably because it's now showing up on all 8,486 post of yours, lol!
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah. Just run threw a level and see what you get.
also can you max out re5 and sf4 no aa and see what you get. -
What do you mean, run through a level. You mean just eyeball the fps?
Also, by max out, do you mean oc the vid card? I already pushed the resolution and settings to their highest, except for AA setting. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
oh. That's what I meant. But setting all the settings in the games on high. I just are about stock runs.
also for nfs. Just do a race with fraps and see what you get. That's all. -
STOCK RUN (HIGH SETTINGS)
SF4 1920x1200 59hz Score: 7179, Grade: B, FPS: 50.93 (High settings, No anti-anal)
OC (630/1050/1550)(HIGH SETTINGS)
SF4 1920x1200 59hz Score: 7753, Grade: A, FPS: 59.80 (High settings, No anti-anal)
I'll do the other one now -
RE5 Fixed Bench
STOCK RUN (HIGH SETTINGS)
DX10 1920x1200 32-bit Grade: B, FPS: 49.1 (Highest settings, No anti-anal)
OC (630/1050/1550)(HIGH SETTINGS)
DX10 1920x1200 32-bit Grade: B, FPS: 52.3 (Highest settings, No anti-anal)
Looked pretty smooth to me. The longer bench test (variable) looked real good too. Takes forever though. 54.3 fps, highest settings, no aa, 1920x1200, no OC's. -
Here's NFS Shift Benchmark with FRAPS:
Frames:10542 Time (ms):265402 Min: 27 Max: 61 Avg: 39.721
All highest settings, no aa, 1920x1200, stock (No OC's).
I crashed alot -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
ok. thanks man. i can't rep you. it says i need to spead the love.
-
np, donda. Hope it helps your decision.

Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Q56_Monster, you need to have anti-anal when you play, man. You never know when your opponent is going to get behind you in SF4.

Opps..hold on...I just dropped the soap.......

have any of yall purchase a barebone through rjtech?
-
i have. what's up?
-
just wondering of they have good customer support... looking into a barebones d900f and was hoping i could find out if they are as good as say malibal in the customer relation department!? how are you liking your d900f? they look like some beastly mobile rigs!
-
i dont have one at the moment, but i did buy my d901c from them.
it had 9800m gt's at first...for about a week. and they we're acting stupid. so i rma'd for 9800m gtx's...had it for another week and one of the gtx's started acting funny. they sent me another box to ship it back to them..replaced the cards and sent it back. there is a little language barrier thing there, but all in all..service was quick and they gave me no hassles. -
Good to hear.
I just rolled the dice with rjtech for the W870. Was a little skeptical at first, but heard plenty of good comments here so that settled my nerves a little. -
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
I ordered my D900F from RJTech. Quick follow ups to all Q&A, accurate time tables, quick shipping.
-
i wouldnt want to pick one up then come to find out they dont cover something becuase its a barebones... Id really like to build my own... i can save some money and hand pick my hard drives, i7 960 cpu and my memory
-
I asked them that and they said for the 1 year warranty you just go thru them (rjtech).
-
rjtech is the best place to buy for the home building laptop guru...
and if they have the newer cards...they will sell them to you. -
great, sounds like i will be going the rjtech route now... I know malibal is awesome in the CS department, but i want barebones... i dont like the seagate hdd's they use... nor do i like paying 800 for shipping when rjtech does this for free...
[crosses fingers for sli d900f after cebit]
