That's too high. 82-84C should be the maximum you would have after a couple of hours of gaming.

For example my GPU used to hit 77-78C after hours of dragon age.

Looks like they finally released my Intel 160GM SSD. Woohoo! Should have it this week.
    Hopefully firmware is solid.

Now, any suggestions as to how to install this thing? I have my unopened Win7 upgrade retail disk awaiting to be freshly installed on this baby.
I don't believe I need to format or anything right? I should be able to pop out the old drive, put the SSD, then pop in win7 to install? I'd hate to have to put Vista first then upgrade to Win7.

Suggestions on how to do this efficiently is appreciated.

On another note - I have been having gfx issues since i upgraded to W7 - already have had two card crashes; i'll try to get an export next time it happens... Has anyone been having trouble since switching over to w7? I'm running nvidia's latest driver by the way (8.17.11.9562).

I had a mishap with my Sager NP5797 - an audio cable plugged into the line out (headphone) jack accidentally got yanked on, which broke the connector in that jack. I'm wondering if this is a modular item, repairable by the user, or would this be something I would have to send the laptop in to the distributor or an authorized repair center to take care of?

    Thanks,

    Hello Guys,

I have been using m571tu for 3-4 months and I have been suffering at the same time. I bought the computer from my home town and went to abroad. Luckily I will turn back at the end of year but I want to share my problem with you and ask for opinions.

1- I have never played game without freezing. (only far cry 2 interestingly) It freezes and doesn't move. 2D files appears sometimes on the screen and nv4_disp.dll error appears and either computer restarts itself or graphical card stops working and screen turn to 256 color, etc. I did the upgrade of nvidia recently (04.12.09), nothing changed. I tried rams 1 by 1, still get error. what do you think guys about it, anyone lived such problem? What can be wrong with the graphical card?

2- Also another problem is about noise from ram or hdd. Generally when I restart computer or if it stays open a lot, one sound comes like 1 time clapping hands and computer freezes 2-3 seconds. Both sound and problem irritating. I think It is from HDD but I don't know which error it can be?

3- Lastly I want to ask you if anyone has done something about fan? like changing it with silent one or last firmware creates a hotkey like working 30% performance for fan and it is still cooling while not disturbing?

    Thank you,

    PredatoR_TR

It looks like your video card is overheating? Are you overclocking your video card? Where are you from ?

No, I haven't done anything about overclock. I am from Turkey and I am currently living in Finland. I am just waiting to go back to Turkey and give my laptop to technical service. Just this 3-4 months were quite irritating for me. I have lots of games, i could have never played... Even tales of monkey island from telltale games freezes. It is not a demanding game. My computer is working like a plane so I don't know if it is heating problem :S

I have done it. When nv4_disp.dll stopped working while playing crysis, it showed that graphical card id max 70 C. I think it is normal, isn't it?

Yeah, that is a good temperature so something is really funny with your laptop. What are the temps. of the other components?

GPU should stay most of the time below 90C
    CPU below 80-90C
    HDD below 55C

I hope the problem will be solved when I will turn back, if not, i will demand for a brand new one.

Also thinking to give my Q9100 (also can sell to anyone else) and buy QX9300. since it is extreme one and can be naturally overclocked, it looks charming :)

Which desktop graphical card is equal to gtx280m? and by your OC, does the performance greatly increase and which desktop card has become the equal one?

ps. I have done firmware and bios updates. thank you again. just when I finished firmware update, I couldn't quit from Dos and just switch the comp. off by button, do you think that did it cause some problems at firmware?

You could also check your ram. My first two sticks of ram were terribly flawed even though the ram tests seemed fine. Now my second pair of ram aren't as bad, but do sometimes cause me to freeze at startup.
I'm thinking about getting better, high quality ram.

I wonder if 8GB would work.

As long as your computer booted up normally after the flash, then you are fine.

Yes, the QX9300 is a very good CPU.

The 280M without OC is roughly equivalent to a 9600 GT or an ATI 4830, with OC, you would make it about 10% more powerful.

How do you OC the Graphical Card? how much dangerous is it?

Also want to ask you guys who are using windows 7 64 bit. I have XP 32 bit. After formating, may I install win 7 64 directly? Will there be some conflicts between 32 and 64 bit?

    Just format using a Win7 64-bit DVD.

Considering your current HW problems, OC is out of the question until you get back to Turkey.

It is good if there won't be any conflict between them. When my laptop will be fixed, first I will pass to win 7 ultimate 64-bit and then I want OC if it is not really dangerous for graphical card. may I ask you now how to do it? Or is there any tutorial or preview about it?

    Thank you

PS. I will say something very very interesting. games of Ubisoft does not freeze :S Far cry 2, Assassin's creed and call of juarez :S All other games freeze. Just can't get the logic...

Dunno, this sort of things happens to M570 series, usually people buy Creative Sound Blaster and shove it into the PCMCIA slot. When my jack (or whatever was wrong with the sound card, because Realtek HD manager was not responding when i was plugging in my headphones) was broken I took my laptop to a Clevo reseller in Germany, they repaired it, but a few months later the sound card went bananas and now I have ty sound over headphones and also from notebook speakers.

It is reparable if you have good soldering skills, zfactor should be able to tell you which jacks you need to buy. It may be reparable with the current jacks, depending on what exactly has broken.

@LAZAS - Yes, alot of ppl (including me) use a creative X-Fi card, but to avoid confusion it is NOT PCMCIA, it is ExpressCard

Is there alot of others who has the same freezing problem with windows 7 on their system? My laptop has been acting weird lately especially after I started plugging an WD esata external drive(which frequently gets disconnected). There's been a few times where my computer just simply doesn't respond and even to shut down command, it will just freeze and display the desktop screen. The temps were fine, similar to predator_tr's.

    will flashing the bios help?

There are a few of us with this problem. Using the "High Performance" power plan should get rid of the random freezes. One user has sent their machine back to get "fixed" and hopefully we will all get our issues resolved once they get their machine back.

I have tried a ton of different things but I still get the freezes. I would recommend just using the High Performance power plan until someone posts the fix in this thread. It will save you time and a lot of frustration.

Got my laptop back from repair, they were 3 weeks behind schedule..

They only replaced my RAM (and that was 3 and a half weeks waiting for a 5 minutes repair..). Altough I tested it with MEMTest86+ with no errors before they picked it up, they said both the modules were bad. I only tested it with both modules in it, not apart from each other, maybe that makes a difference.

Reinstalled everything, Win7 64 bit, drivers from manufacturers etc. Had no freezes yet (2 days normal usage, gaming and watching movies). I think they really fixed it with the new RAM.

Using Balanced mode all the time now (except when gaming). Before I only used High Performance because it reduced the freezing.. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I did not check inside the laptop yet to see what kind/brand of RAM they put in it, but everest reports:
    DIMM1: Team Group Team-Elite-1333 2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-24 @ 666 Mhz) (8-8-8-22 @ 592 Mhz) (7-7-7-19 @ 518 Mhz) (6-6-6-16 @ 444 Mhz)
    DIMM3: Team Group Team-Elite-1333 2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-24 @ 666 Mhz) (8-8-8-22 @ 592 Mhz) (7-7-7-19 @ 518 Mhz) (6-6-6-16 @ 444 Mhz)

I can't recall that Everest said Team Group Team-Elite-1333 with the previous RAM, but it could be the different version that I am using.

Does anyone have experience with Team RAM? Some say it's a 'B' brand. I never heard of them before now.

I just installed 2x2GB Crucial DDR3 8500. I will keep my fingers crossed that this is the fix. I am still waiting on XoticPC to call. If this is the fix then the wife's laptop will get the Crucial once the XoticPC replacement RAM shows up.

Don't worry about checking. The BIOS update did not fix the issue with the original RAM in the laptop. I will put the Crucial RAM back in and see if that fixes the issue while I try and RMA the original RAM.

Bad news, had a freeze yesterday while watching a movie on a tv (through hdmi) of a e-sata drive. I was on balanced mode, laptop wasn't doing anything else.

    @jking.triaxis
    I'm using 19 bios and 12ec/kb

I'm not sure the 19 BIOS is official from Clevo though.. It's not on the Eurocom website.

I'm planning to keep the event files of Windows to look if there is a pattern in the freezing.
For those who are interested, the eventlog of yesterday is located here:

Thanks for the input about my output. :D

I'll open the case up and see if I can get to the headphone jack. I have no problem with soldering a new jack in there, if I can figure out what to put in. I'll check with zfactor as you suggest.

[oh well... zfactor doesn't seem to have contact information here.. maybe he'll see this. --db]

    Hey guys, Happy Holidays :)

Last night I had a strange experience with my m570TU. I purchased GTAIV on Steam and I started downloading it and I left the laptop. When I came back to check how is the download doing, the screen was black and no matter what I did (with mouse/keyboard) nothing happened, so I turned off the laptop.

-The first try when I turned it on, fans spinned up, but screen is still black and after a few sec the laptop shuted it self down.

-The second try I got 3 beeps, still black screen, but the Vista booted up (I heard the welcome sound)

So I checked the VGA and all of the screws were loose somehow. After I was done fixing that problem, I tried again and laptop booted up without a problem. The resolution reseted from 1680x1050 to 1280x1024, so just in case I runned 3DMark06 and played L4D2 for a few hours, but didn't have an issue. What do you guys think, what could have been the problem?

    -motherboard or VGA failing
-the screws holding the VGA were loose
