The random freezing is not present in High performance mode.
-
-
Well leslievw said he was having it in all modes. Anyways from what I remember I wasn't getting it in balanced mode either. Ill switch back to balanced mode for a bit and if I get freezing I'll let you guys know.
-
The hardest part of this is, that it happens random, so I can't predict when it'll happen.
The last time when it froze in High Performance mode was while playing a movie through HMDI (on the TV), I always set it to High Performace when playing movies on the TV. After rebooting it usually doesn't freeze the rest of the movie (sometimes it doesn;t freeze completely..)
I mailed my vendor this afternoon to ask them to look at the problem, but my problem is, i can't miss the laptop for too long (that's the reason for not sending it in earlier..) -
What CPU do all of you have with the freezing? When it was first happening, aka the initial BETA release, I thought that it was tied to the overclocked CPU (X9100). I was able to run longer without overclocking between freezes than with.
-
Had it at 2x a long time, but I don't know if it has anything to do with it..
Maybe I should keep a log with date/time when it freezes, a week on 3,06Ghz, and after that a week at 3,45Ghz...
I did not fully understand your sentence about BETA, probably my english.. If you were reffering to a X9100 ES version, I don't have the ES version (if there is any), but a 'OEM' version.
Everest CPUID reports:
Physical CPU reports:
-
P9500 and no freezing. Been playing music and videos and no freezing yet in balanced mode so maybe just an x9100 issue.
-
leslievw, I was referring to Windows 7 BETA. I have been running Win 7 since the initial BETA release. I did not have any freezing issues with Vista but I do remember having some stuttering issues with my mouse cursor. If I rebooted the stuttering would go away.
-
I had stuttering in Vista too (actually in any OS), but only when the power was plugged in. That was another problem (returned the laptop, got a whole new one). It did go paired with audio stuttering and crackling, something that has been fixed in the 'new' laptop i recieved. -
i need some help... my sager has been fine but lately its been acting up
it keeps restarting for some reason it happens at random times but mostly when im on youtube very weird well i went to the event viewer and it said
Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power event id 41....happens usually once or twice a day...if any1 can help i will greatly appreciate it -
-
They'll pick up my laptop tomorrow to look at the problem.
Will let you all know if I hear any news about the problem.. -
-
Any suggestions as to which driver I should try next? -
just found out that 5797 has been taken off of sager's website??!!
That's too sad, such a shor life-span??!! -

I have just got and installed a q9200 proc. It does show up as a extreme edition and is overclockable in the bios. The stock speed is 2.4ghz and 1x overclock is 2.67ghz and the 2x overclock is 2.93ghz. Other things that I have noticed are that it requires less voltage than a x9100. The x9100 I had required 1.2v, the q9200 only requires 1.1625v. I will post more on the thermals once i have had a chance to break the proc and its fresh paste in some.

Very nice, akaltenbach. It seems my theory is right. The BIOS cannot recognize the half multipliers and will only overclock it by 0.5x and 1.5x bins on the QX9300 to equal 10x and 11x, 2.66GHz and 2.93GHz respectively. Because the Q9200's base clock is 9x as opposed to 9.5x on the QX9300, the BIOS overclocks as it should unlocking 1x and 2x bins on the Q9200 to equal 10x and 11x, or 2.66GHz and 2.93GHz. This is good news for M570TU users as they can save money and skip the QX9300 and pick up a Q9200 instead.
-
So does the overclock work on all q9200's (unlocked multipliers) or only ES?
I'm hoping they'll replace my motherboard with a newer one at the repair center, so i can put a quad in it. I was looking for a qx9300 for some time, but q9200 sounds good too.
-
Alle Q9200 should be overclockable, QAJF QAVR QAVS.
-
I don't see the Q2000 anywhere on-line. What's the deal with that?

Offhand I don't know which version my mb is. I know its most likely the latest tho. It was purchased brand new in april'09.
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
You probably have V3.0B. Check under the RAM modules.
-
Wait... if the Q9200 can get to 2.93 GHz and the QX9300 can also reach a maximum of 2.93 GHz via OC... then there is no point in buying a QX9300 for the M570TU right?
I am thinking of maybe getting a Q9200, but I will loose by 2H of battery life... -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Yes, that seems to be the fact now. Both the Q9200 and QX9300 can overclock from their base frequency to 2.93GHz. It's a real heartbreaker for those who dumped more money for QX9300's after the launch of the M17x.
-
However, undervolting and underclocking kinda kills the benefits of having a high clocks quad core... -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I was able to pull two and a half hours with my M570TU using it as a notepad and an internet kiosk. Surprisingly, I achieved so without a CPU undervolt.
-
Ok I popped my ram out and checked my mb version. Suprisingly it is a v3.1b-1 with stickers saying apr'09 in the chassis so apparently I got a chassis right off the assembly lines. The bios is version 1.00.12

Intel never released the Q9200 as a production unit because it was too close in performance with the QX9300. It was a marketing decision to not send them to manufacturing. But fortunately for us, we get dibs on all the leftovers.
-
Yeap, and I am very happy with that leftover!
-
I think the first type that support quads are the one's with the -1 on the end (V3.0B-1 / V3.1B-1) or the V3.1B without the -1 at the end. Still a bit of a mystery to me wich mb does and wich does not support quad cores.
I know for sure that V3.0B doesn't -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Damn, I keep forgetting that one. Yes, leslievw. You are correct. The M570TU motherboards are really quite a mystery.
-
-
So maybe the mystery is solved
-1 indicates it can take quads, or am i missing someone that has a quad without a -1 mb? -
-
Does anyone know where is the BIOS Flash chipset on the motherboard? I just need to know in case I have to replace it due to a bad BIOS Flash. I've looked in the service manual and it doesn't write anywhere.
-
Leslievw, any updates on your laptop?
-
Not yet
I will mail them monday, see if they had the time to begin. Sure hope I get it back this week -
please guys. give me some help. blacky, adorex, leslie, akaltenbach, every m570 owner. -
Did you buy yours second hand? -
-
i purchased my laptop brand new. the oficial answer from sager is that rework was done by clevo to all motherboards of the m570Etu
thanks for your help guys. -
Evening all - been awhile since i've been back to the forums. Suffice to say, my np5797 works like a dream. I do have one question - does anyone know if i can run WinXP on this system? I had read somewhere (not sure where) that there are compatibility issues with 64-bit systems and WinXP... Not sure if this is true.
I love w7 but the stability issues i've been having are forcing me to consider WinXp.
Thanks! -
hi EL Suave. can you please take a picture of your motherboard?
thank you very much.
by the way, you can run xp in that machine, just go to the bios and enable windows xp mode and legacy os. -
So I've finally sold the Sager and found a worthy replacement. I walked into Best Buy unsure of what I'd take home, but the dm3 really caught me by surprise. The Neo X2 is by no means a speed demon like my QX9300, but it's enough for keeping "tabs" on things. 3GB of DDR2 is plenty for the basics, and the HDD is even same as my Sager, a 320GB 7200 Hitachi. I'll give the HD 3200 a whirl on some basic games, but that's no longer important
The best part is of course the portability, it's less than half the weight of the NP5797. Build quality for an HP is well above standard, and there's a reasonable amount of aluminum surfacing. It's very macbook-esque I guess. The 13" LED is a very nice screen, vibrant and good contrast, better than the LCD on the Sager. And the chiclet style keyboard is almost perfect. Windows 7 is a worthy upgrade from Vista, I really like the aero functionality with the new dock. -
My avarage GPU temp without cooler is 82C and with cooler 73C...are these good for a GTX280M ?
