    Will do, thanks.

Also another question, would be be smarter to run Vista Ultimate as an OS or just Win 7? I've seen the benchmarks from Win 7, and the current build seems stable enough for daily use.

If so, how much do you think I could sell the Vista Ultimate key for? It's just the key that I'll have (it will be reinstalled, and I can see the key but won't actually have it) , the guy isn't providing CD's or the actual serial. I was hoping for ~$100 or maybe less, but it would save me some money since I don't need the features of Vista Ultimate and would actually prefer Win 7 RC.

He has everything and will be shipping it along with the laptop (driver cds, ac adapter, carry case that came with xotic, 3 year warranty). I was also able to speak to him over the phone, and he has been more then helpful through texts keeping me updated. The only thing is the vista cds he's not providing, because he claims he installed it with his friend's copy and did not purchase the OS through xotic. I'm not so worried so much about the OS as I planned on using Win r7 for now anyway, and a 2 month old sager for I paid $400 less then a brand new one I think its worth it.

I feel like I can trust him, and he has decent rep. Of course, I will be running every test possible as soon as I get the laptop.

Guys, I am looking at a M860 from a German re-seller, and when I asked him if it was the 860TU or ETU the guy said this:

"This is the newest Model of the m860tu Board rev. 3.1 (nö Quad Core Support)"
I don't speak German but I presume nö (with those two funny dots above) means no... this has me confused about whether it is an TU or ETU.

I will contact him again, but any ideas about what he means?

He has replied saying it doesnt support Quads, so i guess it is the original 860TU. I don't know which is called rev 3.1 etc, I havent heard those terms used, but anyway, that seems to be my answer. It just confused me the fact that he said it was the newest model 860. No English keyboard available so it's a no go on that re-seller anyway.

    Cheers for replies :)

Strange, on M860TU which is not supporting quads is written v.3.0... So it's mean they did more then one revision... OMG!!11!!!1

    I have V3.1A-1... So it's like A-1 a revision? Jizz!

Morning every one. I just bought a Sager 8662 and currently using window 7 RC. My laptop's HDD temp is around 57~60 degree when i use it to surf web or any light work. I haven't checked the temp under heavy load but i would like to know what service to disable and how to config KIS 2009 to lower my temp. Thanks

I just bought this laptop last week and its in phase 2 over at Xotic. I'm estimating a Thursday/Friday arrival at my house (got the 2 day production service on it =] )

My first choice was the G71GX A1 but due to the delays and me not being able to wait for it any longer, I jumped on this. Got 6GB ram in it, upped the screen to the 1080p version for movies, and got a 320gb 7200rpm hdd. I figured I wouldn't update the processor because in a year/few months I can get something a lot better, 10x cheaper.

So question: I bought a NZXT Cryo LX for the G71 back at the end of June when I was expecting it but I was wondering if this cooler will work well with the np8662?

edit: lol mistyped the product name

I paid extra for a Rush Assembly, instead of the 3-7 business day estimate they give you(M-F), I paid for a 2 day assembly. I need this laptop ASAP so I was willing to throw extra in, since I already am paying a boatload.. :\

Xotic. It wasn't a visible option. I was speaking to my sales rep about the absolute necessity of getting my laptop before the 13-15th of August and he explained to me that he can put in the Rush Assembly for me, which was less expensive than the overnight shipping they could've provided. Either one of those options were available to me but since I already chose 3 day shipping I asked for the RUSH.

    =]

So does anyone have an idea whether or not the Cryo LX will be compatible / beneficial to the NP8662?

Make sure M2.04 (HotKey.exe) is set to launch on Startup (run msconfig.exe -> Startup)
    and
Make sure the PowerBiosServer service (PowerBiosServer.exe) is started and set to start automatically in Services (run services.msc)

Slight tangent but kaltmond, it seems like you raised the FSB from 266 MHz to 333 Mhz with the M860TU. How's the stability of the laptop now? Did you find yourself having to adjust any of laptop's heating system to handle the increased heat production?

The GTX 280M will exceed the thermal budget of the M860 so it should not be used. If you do use it your warranty will be voided.

Minor work means rendering the other card useless, so it cant be sold, because you have to remove the backplate on your original card and put it on the GTX 280M. A bit risky process and, if unlucky, there is a possibility to destoy your card.

The backplate is specific to the M860TU, normal MXM cards don't have them. So the card is still quite sellable.

So just to make sure I have this right, if I order a M860ETU and order a 280M that came from a M570TU, can I expect to have no trouble fitting the 280M into the M860ETU?

There are some threads about this, one in particular, but I dont remember the name or the name of the user.

You have to force the backplate off using some kind of tool, flat screwdriver or something. It is a risky process and it will void your guarantee. If you heat it up by using a hairdryer, the glue will come off easier.

If you are a little handyman, then I guess it would go painfree, if not, I`m guessing your heart will pounding like hell when doing it.

Performance gained from a 280M is about 10%, in my opinion not worth the trouble. The 260M GTX is a very, very good card.

Is it somewhat possible to overclock the 260M so that it can somewhat match the 280M in performance or does that 10% put the 280M in another league?

Whats the driver that shows the volume bar thingie when you adjust it with fn-f5/f6? I like if you adjust the mousepad with fn-f1 or birghtness fn-f8/f9 a bar will show up at the top showing the progress. I know it showed the volume when i first got the sager, but it doesn't show up now, i've reformated once and now the HotKeyDriver doesn't show the volume progress.

Hmm, well my notebook is down for the count. There appears to be some sort of electrical problem, because it lights up but doesn't make it to boot. I tried booting with each component removed, but no dice. The only piece I didn't take out was the GPU.

Oh well, back to R&J it goes.
