Try uninstalling, rebooting and then reinstalling it.

So i think im finally going to have the m260 in my m860tu original revision, any info i should know?....also i've had some issues with the machine, in some occasions it suffered some constant hanging...it was identified by the sound and mouse stuttering too......but for a while with xp this didnt happened, yesterday happened with windows7, so i upgraded the bios to the 15 version with ec to 12. Seems to be fine now, but usb thing with my external keyboard still happens....
-
You will need BIOS 16 for the GTX260M to work properly.
Find it here -
I thought all you needed was bios 14?
-
Well now the main store which is in another city wants my laptop for a week to test if the m260 doesnt overheat in my original m860tu.....while they could just mount it here in the store in my city....i thought that there wasnt any heat issues with the m60tu.

I just bought a Pro-star M860ETU...super excited. Anyone ordered their's from Pro-star? I shouldn't be concerned right?
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
ProStar is a good company. You'll be very satisfied with their service.
-
I've just read some bad Pro-star reviews that's why I am a little worried...should I pay more for a Sager or Clevo?
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Where did you read these reviews?
-
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Pro_star
and in various other forums... -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Wow, those reviews are over four years old, haha. ProStar has turned around for better recently. But I understand your point. You can try buying from any of the big three: XoticPC, PowerNotebooks, or PCTorque. All of them are resellers that dropship your notebook from Sager to your front door.
You can also try RJTech. I have bought three Clevo's and many parts from them over the past six years and they have never failed to satisfy me. -
Yeah, I was thinking about XoticPC and RJTech, but they are more expensive and I can't prepaid the tax with them (since I live in Canada and will not be able to receive the package myself)... also Pro-star offer shipping free both way for repair while the others don't...I have a headache.
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Oh, okay. It doesn't hurt to go with ProStar. They aren't going to bug out on you like Eurocom or Sager.
-
I guess I'll be crossing my fingers hoping for the best that I don't get a defective system lol...although now the Asus G51vx-A1 is looking more appealing hehe (being $200 less as well).
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
The G51 is a very budget friendly gaming system, but I would suggest avoiding it, Illyria_xl. Go over to the Asus forum and see all the users that are complaining of overheating GPU's with temperatures in the high 80's and 90's. Atleast with the M860TU, you have some leeway to overclock the GPU, while on the G51 you need to keep the stock clocks, which are lower than the M860TU's stock clocks, if you want to stay out of the red zone.

Yeah, I know about the overheating problem...but I also read that Asus didn't think it was a big deal? (I guess they would say that)...did not know about clocking though...
I wouldn't be able to relax till I get my system which is in about 2 weeks - the wait is killing me... -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Just take a deep breath and relax. There's nothing you can do right now except play the waiting game. Be happy about your purchase. The M860TU is quite an amazing system. If you need a veteran ProStar customer to hold your hand, you can PM Kevin_Jack2.0.

Thanks Soviet, I'll try not to be too paranoid..but it's going to be hard
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I hear you. Waiting for a notebook is always a nerve wrecker for many of us, especially when it's our first time buying from a small company.

I have an question what is anybodies exact setting for l4d cause I'm having performance compared to all the people claiming they play it max on 1600x1050
-
I just did 2 simple cooling mods on my M860ETU, I applied a thin aluminium frame around the die to allow it to reach the heatsink, and I added a small fin heatsink to the cpu heatsink.
My idles have not changed much, but my maximum temps have dropped by 10 degrees.
I'll upload a pic, that properly illustrates the 280M mod.Attached Files:

Fixed my problem, I ended up using a different notebooks hotkey driver, and now it says its version 1.03 instead of 1.00.

I don't know if anyone else gave it a go...
I was just playing around with the Hotkey programs from different laptops. I'm now using (succesfully, it seems) hotkey drivers from the Clevo M980NU (version 2.0527). Appart from the graphical improvements, there does not seem to be any difference!
In any case, it looks better, so M860TU owners might want to give it a go. -
Hello,
Could anyone advise me some good laptop cooling pads i can use with M860TU - quite important it would have to be suitable for using it on my laps - so the best if the air intake would be on the sides or rear, not the bottom ) I often use the laptop in bed etc.
I cannot find a right one on my own,
I have bought recently M860TU from a German reseller - notebookguru,
I have some problems with the heat in the right palm rest area...
downloaded intel chipset and matrix drivers but it doesnt seem to improve the situation a lot...any suggestions ?
Thanks,
Thomas -

Where would I be able to grab a new back plate and bluetooth in europe (ship to Germany), I would rather avoid emailing a dozen shops

Ask Schenker or Notebookguru, maybe NEXOC also.

I'm surprised you missed X2P's notebook cooler buying guide in his sig. But I'll help you out. Are you looking for something portable that you can partner with your M860TU wherever you go?
-
The closest one to somtehing you are describing is the Coolermaster X2 which intakes air from the bottom, front and back. You would have to keep it cleaner though (dust).
The X2 also works quite well with the 8662, my review (use search top right corner) uses the 8662 and it actually worked wonders if you ignore build and noise -
Ive read the guide now, but still dont know which one to choose,
I wouldnt travel with it or anything it would be simply lying under my bed, or i would take it to other soom so doesnt have to be extra light or anything, it has to be quite comfy and work on my laps, and cool the notebook well.
X2P - the Notepal X2 looks really interesting, I try to find some place where I could purchase it online in Europe ( Poland / Germany or UK ) but no success so far. Any help ?
The one that is available to buy here is the notepal infinite.
THanks,

Hi,
I'm planning on buying an M860TU from notebookguru.de, but have 2 more questions concerning what hardware I will be putting in:
- I have the option to choose between "15,4 Inch WSXGA+ 1680x1050 Pix NonGlare" & "15,4 Inch WSXGA+ 1680x1050 Pix Glare" ... What's the difference ? And what is pix(el) glare ?
- I will be placing a 500gig HD in this bad boy, but I'm not sure if I should go with 5400rpm or 7200rpm. What are the differences in performance and does the 7200rpm version have heat problems ? (note: the 5400rpm version is a WD scorpio and the 7200rpm version is a Seagate momentus)
/Prophex -
1. At a guess it's their way of saying Glossy and Matte, though the matte screens are normally WUGA+.
2. The difference in speed isn't as big as most people were expecting and not that noticable in realtime. My WD-B 500GB 5400 is a cool customer in this notebook and I don't have any problems. Temps rarely go above 40, idling mid 30's.
To a degree (hah, no pun intended), I believe locale is a big part in this. I would guess that many people with this heat problem live in warmer climates than I do. -
I've got WD 500 GB as well, but while playing it nearly reaches 60 degrees ( around 59) any good advice on lowering it ( tried new drivers etc )? so far it is my biggest and only big concern about this laptop.
P.S.
I'm using the laptop in Germany at the moment, so it is normal European summer. -
-
I do have an NC-2000 but it rarely gets used. In fact it's in its box and is looking to be sold. -
Could you post the link to this driver. I downloaded the one from Clevo's website and the keys work but I dont get any graphic. -
Did you restart?
I just downloaded directly from Clevo website, from the Download section of the M980NU.
ps: You can remove the lightshow from the startup, as these is (I assume) reserved for controling the lights of the keyboard in the M980NU. -
Yeah I got it to work now. I downloaded it from Clevo's website where its labeled as v 1.5 but when I installed it it says v2.0527 so I guess its just mislabeled there. But my main problem was that I simply tried to modify the existing driver as opposed to uninstalling and starting fresh. When I did that I got it to work and I do like the graphics much better

I FINALLY got my NP8662!!
But I have a couple of problems...
Played counter-strike source at all high AA:16x AF: 16x
I got 160fps approximately. My problem is... isn't a GTX 260M more superior to the 9800M GS? If so, then how come he gets just about the same FPS?
My specs: Q9000 2.0GHz
GTX 260M Stock clocks
4GB 1066 DDR3 RAM (using only 3 because of 32-bit windows XP).
It's kind of a downer because I was expecting SOOO much from this laptop. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
What the hell is wrong with you, boy? You're getting around triple the fps that your screen can display at native resolution and all maxed settings and you're saying that it's a downer?
