Sounds like quite a conundrum :-( could well be dodgy card I reckon. Bit of a long shot but might be worth doing a reformat and install as you described before but using 13.1 whql. If it works happy days if not could be going back to your reseller.

I just updated from 13.2 to 13.3 beta 3 and removed ccc via amd's uninstall utility. After system reboots and Windows login comes up the screen flashes black, where I assume a part of the driver is being installed. However, my laptop doesn't crash it just goes back to login screen.

Also, maybe it would be worth looking in the event viewer for more details on what went wrong if you can boot into safe mode?

Right click on My Computer and click Management. In the left side there should be an Event Viewer...click on that and have a look through the events. Could be under system tab but look in other sections 2

After downloading and installing the 13.3 beta 3 catalyst mobility, i rebooted my laptop, 1 second after the login screen appears the screen went black with a small dash on the top left corner. This occured at around 1:56pm and i did a force shut-down at 2:00pm.

The only "warning" level event in

"systems" was: The Intel(R) Management Engine Interface is being disabled.(at around 1:56)

    and "application" errors were:

"Faulting application name: atieclxx.exe, version: 6.14.11.1143, time stamp: 0x5147c5bd
Faulting module name: atieclxx.exe, version: 6.14.11.1143, time stamp: 0x5147c5bd
    Exception code: 0xc0000005" (at 1:57)

"Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected." (at 1:58)

*note the application errors occured a couple minutes after the screen went black with the flashing dash on the top left corner.

    thanks in advance.

    Derek,

I've been having major issues with a Sager NP9150 I received 2 days ago. If you look at recent posts in this forum you will read about all the issues I've been having. I have gotten 0 responses from XoticPC to aid me with this issue and yet I see some employees are active on some forums during the weekend.

Is there a number or e-mail I can call to get immediate assitance by any chance?

I have already e-mailed support about my issues on March 22nd.

    Thanks,

    Rafael

    Hey Rafael,

I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles. We're actually closed on the weekends which makes it pretty tough to get a hold of us at the office directly. We do have a 24/7 phone support line that is available @ 1-877-645-9312 and if you're needing immediate help is your best bet. With 7970 issues I'm honestly not that much of a help as the issues tend to require different fixes on different machines and what the weather is like at that time and how vindictive your machine is feeling like being. I'd shoot them a call and see if they're able to assist, otherwise our service team will be in the office in the morning and should be able to respond to your current messages.

Would you mind summarizing your issues?

From what I could gather, you tried installing drivers from the Sager CD and it booted into a black screen with a flashing dash in the corner?

That's usually a sign that the operating system could not be found.

Could you give us any details like what HDD you are using, what OS, and did you make sure to use the correct driver CD? There's both a windows 7 and windows 8 CD.

    Hey guys,

During a repaste on the GPU, the screw that holds down one corner broke off inside the hole. I wasn't over tightening or anything, just popped right off.

    IMG_20130324_203722.jpg

Is there any way to fix this? Can this be covered under warranty by chance? :(

    During crysis 3 gameplay:

My temps were 93c originally with the sager ICD7 installed, repasted and then about 71c, wanted to repaste again to see if I could get better still, and then this screw broke.
Now in 1 minute furmark it hits 90c again, and I'm scared to do any heavy gaming with it.

You can ask for a new backplate and screws since the backplate (which the screws screw into) is easily removable.

71c after repaste is damn good. I wouldn't have messed with it further. Another repaste may have netted you another 1 or 2 c off at most. Stock paste my 680m peaks at about 75c in crysis 2. I believe your icd7 paste has a minor cure time before it reaches optimal cooling abilities. Not sure but I believe it does. But anyway try to achieve that 71 mark again, that's pretty good. If it ain't broken dont fix it

I spoke with Derek who was very nice and instructed me I'd have to contact sager most likely. Called them and they said to send them the picture with my serial number. Hopefully they can just mail me out the new backplate.

Update: Ty from Sager called me back and sent an email with a picture to verify the right backplate. Took it apart and verified. He told me I would have to mail it to them to repair, but when I asked if they could just mail it to me with a screw he agreed. New part should be in the mail tomorrow and headed my way! Great experience after the horror stories I heard from their customer service.

Side note: Made a temporary fix with some foil tape to help hold that side down. Only maxing around 80c when gaming, good enough for now.

PS: Bought this laptop from a guy on ebay. 3630qm with 7970m, cooler, carrying case, and a few extras such as SS keyboard and HDD caddy bay. Got it all for 1100 and it is in mint condition. Loving every moment of it!

Ugh Meaker, you were right. I downloaded one of the vbios from TechInferno and it seems to work much better than I expected. It's a simple flash with a DOS usb drive and nflash.

Went from 5800 in 3dmark11 to about 6200 with just the flash, with 915/2125 I get about 7100. It's really impressive. Also I highly recommend that anyone who has an older 80.04.29 vbios to at least update to a stock 80.04.33.

Where are you finding the bios? I didnt find anything on clevo website. Ive seen a few that seemed modded/custom floating around. I have the 7970m though, dunno if that changes anything.
    My ME FW 8.0.4.1441
    Bios 1.00.05LS1
    EC 1.00.055A

Also, can anybody give me the best way to remove the old backplate from the gpu when I get the new one? Just gently pry it off the adhesive I am guessing?

I have a problem that the pc is booting from hd2 when it should boot from hd1.

    HD 1: SSD 240gb with Windows 8

HD 2 (from another pc): I have mounted it where the cd/dvd should be.

When I boot the pc and choose "boot options" I choose that it should boot from the SSD (HD1), but still it boot from HD2.

    What can be wrong?

If you have everything in the BIOS set right as it looks like you do then there could be a problem with the SSD or the OS installed on it. Try taking out the HDD in the ODD bay, does the SSD boot properly if you do?

If I remove the HDD with OS to another HDD without OS the SSD boots.

It's like the slot2 overrides the slot1 if slot2 have OS.

    Or is the CD/DVD-bay slot1?

Make sure you are changing it in the BIOS so its permanent. F2 during start up, then go to the boot tab. Set your boot #1 so it boots from a hard drive, then go down a couple options to Hard drive BBS and make sure your SSD is the first one.

Yup, you sure can. You can disable the built in monitor in the display settings or you can use the keyboard FN key shortcut to shut it off. I don't recall what it is off hand though. Be sure to change your power settings to adjust what happens with the laptop lid closing too or you'll put your computer to sleep doing so.

I have had my 9150 which I ordered from xotic for almost a week now and I love This thing. The only problem/annoyance I have with this machine is the keyboard. The left caps, shift, cntrl keys all have a raise on the left side of the keys. Also the red led light doesn't even turn on in the middle section of the keyboard while all the other colors work fine. Meh I guess the last part annoys me since Red is my favorite color

So the cord coming from my power adapter has started unsheathe itself, I had a feeling this would happen eventually :( It's not quite exposed yet but it's getting there, I figure copious amounts of some silicone sealant would do the job but I also found this nifty stuff called sugru ( https://sugru.com). I think I may give the latter a try since it's only $10, but if anyone else has any experience with this I figure it can't hurt to get you opinion first!

It's my understanding that the mic port typically has lower audio quality due to amplification of the input to make the voice in it coming in louder. The Line in would be more of a straight audio input.

Thanks for the reply. So the microphone port is kind of redundant, unless I can use two input sources at the same time, like dual mics?

Definitely could be seen that way. If you're doing something that you're using dual mics on though you might want to look into an external sound device to handle it better than both of those would be able to do. I honestly haven't used a mic input on any sound device I've had in the past ten years. I always use line-in and it works fine for me.

    SSD is the first one.

Is I remove port2 from boot options or leave the port2 empty (ejected the hdd) I get this:

"Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

It seems like port2 is overriding port1 and need to be present. I currently have a 1tb hdd without an os, that works fine. But the problem occur if I leave the port2 empty or insert a hdd with os.

How are you determining which is port 2? Where is the SSD located inside the system? I believe the primary is the one located under the optical drive if I remember the schematics right. It's possible you're removing the SSD from the boot options.

In BIOS it says that the port1 is the Samsung SSD which is right.

Port2 is where some have the cd/dvd.

Sounds like you might just be having problems with the SSD. Do you have another computer, even a desktop, that you can plug it into and see if it works. You may even have to reinstall Windows on it.

The SSD works fine. I have Windows 8 installed on it and it works perfect. The SSD boots when the disk inside slot2 don't have OS.

I had the same problem when I had another SSD with Windows 7 inside slot1.

    Guess it's a bios/hardware problem.

I just put my old 500gig HDD in my bay, made sure bios was set for the main bay with stock HDD, and it wouldn't boot. Stuck at loading windows. Will boot both when used separately, but together it hangs.

Yeah seems like its defaulting to the cadsy bay if it has an os. When I get back home I'll put my main drive in the caddy bay and see if it boots it even though bios says for the main bay.

So I got my new 9150 last week. And I got the keyboard with the Windows key on the left side. Is that the new keyboard or old one? I see pics with the win key on right side.
I keep hitting the stupid win key currently when playing games so I was wondering.

Who did you buy it through? It's possible that they're still working through inventory on the previous keyboards but the new ones are going to be with the WIn key on the right.
