Just look at the F3 and F4 keys (in daylight) at videos from Prostar.![]()

It is not likely that any reseller would have tested it since the P150HM was sold out long before the nVIDIA GTX 675M 256bit w/2GB GDDR5 become available.
Although, I leave it as an open question for anyone who might have both available. -
Oh yeah... wait a minute, what the hell is that? Are those keys glued to the keyboard..? That's utterly retarded.. I see it now.. My god +1REP for noticing that
-
Just got an email saying my machine has shipped from XoticPC. I'll have it tomorrow when I arrive back at school! I'm looking forward to testing the machine out and installing a few games.

yay!! let us know your thoughts for sure, I bet alot of people are waiting on hands on reviews -
Tell us how the keyboard sounds like
-
-
What is it? I can't see those vids because 3ds doesn't have flash...
As a matter of fact, yesterday and the day before P150HM was for sale on the sager website... -
Hi Heihachi_1337, thanks for the info!
-
So, it's been a while for me...as you can see by my sig, and I've decided to bite the proverbial tech bullet and purchase one of these tomorrow. Per earlier suggestions, I will have to wait to call customer service tomorrow to place my order, rather than use the online ordering system. I want to ensure I get the NBR discounts, free shipping, etc...don't trust the "leave in comments" method.
I would wait for Ivy, but a sandy bridge upgrade would still be HUGE for me, and I really don't want to wait another 2-3 weeks. Plus, from my understanding this current chipset is compatible with both Ivy and SB?
Curious to know how you guys feel about the Dead Pixel policy though. My last sager only had one dead pixel, but it was bright, in the top right quadrant. They seemed pretty common in the older builds...has this changed at all recently with the new HD screens? Or just harder to spot maybe?
Also, with regards to screen type. I'm really on the fence with matte vs. glossy. Every laptop I've had so far has been glossy...but my desktop has always been matte-type. I've always found the laptop matte to be significantly worse than the desktop counterparts...does anyone have anything thoughts on that? I will be using this for both work and gaming...even the occasional netflix/bluray watching. -
What reseller are you buying from? And might your decision to postpone until tomorrow be due to the fact that this is friday the 13th?
Your understanding of the chipset is correct, but if you wish to get ivy later, you may want to buy from a reseller who can help you with this.
The dead pixle warranty actually also gives you added QA for the screen (there are reports or resellers having multiple people scour the screen with a magnifying glass), so there will be less hassle in the event that you would have gotten one. I belive that you may also get a higher grade panel (this is sort of hard to explain, maybe someone else can chime in).
Well, these laptop screens are very high quality. A lot of lower-end laptops have terrible screens. In general, two otherwise identical screens where one is matte and one is glossy will have a similar relationship to any other such pair. If you feel more comfortable ordering glossy, do so, but if you like the matte desktop displays more than the glossy laptop displays, get matte. -
Oh yes, those two keys are for some reason stuffed upon the others keys. I can screenshot them for you.

Enjoy
or don't.. it's quite awkward
EDIT: thanks for bonnie.clyde for noticing
-
Thanks for the response...sorry, forgot to mention I'm going with Xoticpc, as I used them for my first Sager system. That's interesting about the dead pixel warranty...I was going to add it either way, seems like a win-win investment, peace-of-mind added.

with a %20% overclock on the gtx675m that means a max of 744mhx on the core. Paladin44 do you know what paste was used to obtain that 20% overclock? If standard I wonder if applying icd7 or 24 would result in maybe 25%-30% overclock? Or is the issue due to voltage cap/ bios or both?
-
lolwut
You're welcome... The only drawback to the dead pixle warranty it the price. If you can afford it and do not have any higher priority upgrades, buy it by all means. Also you should check with xotic about aftermarket cpu upgrades, I don't know what their policy on those is and thus how much they will be able to help you. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
We used IC Diamond applied to the CPU + GPU.
Just for clarification, IC Diamond 7 or 24 is the same thing. The 7 and 24 only signify what size syringe it is in...either 7 Carat or 24 Carat (weight). -
does anyone have an actual ETA for the 9150 (or the 9130) will be available with ivy bridge? i know the official release date for ivy bridge is april 23. but does that mean sager already has laptops manufactured with ivy bridge processors installed and they're ready to ship on april 23? or are they gonna slowly be phased in over the course of a few months?
desperately need a laptop right now but would be willing to wait a few weeks for ivy bridge. but i can't wait months. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
The embargo lifts on Ivy Bridge on April 29th, not April 23rd.
Sager will begin shipping Ivy Bridge in the Sager NP9130, NP9150 and NP9170 on April 30th. -
I thk he may have been referring to rumblings that the date got moved up, though I am not positive they are accurate. Would love for them to be. -
Thats... what? lolwut whats the point of stuffing those keys? Might just add that to "reasons to get teh P170EM instead of P150EM" because the F4 key is stuffed on the P150EM while the P170EM has the F3 stuffed... gotta do my Alt + F4 ragequits ;P
-
What do you mean by "key is stuffed"? Can someone explain what wrong with those two keys?
-
Haha so true, got me thinking.. although some of the others videos do NOT show this kind of problem, odd..
Have you seen the pictures? I cannot clarify what the problem is, but my brain tissue has made me think towards a conclusion as such: The keys were probably inserted wrong or stuffed in for some weird reason. -
yeah, its only the prostar computer o.o
-
My brain is thinking that you have been watching too much Madagascar
-
It looks like Intel goes ahead of schedule:
Intel Accelerates Launch of Ivy Bridge by Almost 1 Week -
Finally got mine ordered today, just sent to production Phase 2. It should be in my hands by next Monday, hopefully. Specs are below for those curious. I will likely install my own OS and eventually add an mSATA drive at some point, likely when I refresh to a new IB proc. I wasn't really sure about my network card choice...but figured any of those options would be better than the stock card?

I am about to purchase an NP9150 and would like to know the quality on the stick displays. How good are the viewing angles? And would you recommend the upgraded display for gaming?
-
Bensmack, just seeing your sig, how's that 260M performing on today's games? Just wondering how future-proof what used to be high end gaming cards four years ago perform today.
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The stock screens are nice, pretty much industry standard screens. If you can upgrade to the 95% matte screens thats the way to go. Everyone on this board who has gotten one in the past loves it. -
lol, it's actually held up pretty nicely...though I don't really game on it much anymore, for various reasons. Just an example, I was able to play BF3 with a mix of med-high settings at 30+ fps. Rift was a disaster until they updated the client...otherwise it's held it's own for what I've needed. Though I believe my proc was holding me back on some of the more current gen games.
-
260M is actually just three years old
and when u take rough estimates based on 3dmark gpu scores (i know real life perf would be better than synthetic benches, but its just a rough estimate here) into account, ud get around 33% of the 675M performance. not all that bad for such a long time span and considering the 260M wasnt even the top gpu of its time!
cheers -
Oh and big props to Justin@xoticpc for making sure my order wasn't mistakenly cancelled! You guys rock!!
-
*Hops from foot to foot while clapping hands over head and laughing maniacally*
So, does this mean one more week? -
None of the resellers have confirmed the April 23rd date yet. Although it would be sweet to see Ivy Bridge get released early, it would be sweeter if I can get the 660M together with Ivy Bridge.
-
Does anyone know if it's possible to output 3D movie/game through the HDMI to another monitor/TV even though the laptop doesn't have 3D screen yet?
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Yes it will, to do so you need HDMI 1.4 which the NP9150 does have. -
Thanks. Will it work with ATI card as well?
-
AMD 3d is considerably less... polished than nvidia's. If you want to watch movies in 3d and have a b/r drive with the appropriate software, that will work. I think some games may work, but don't count on it for gaming. Even if it did work, though, single mobile gpu's just aren't good enough to run modern games in 3d with settings maxed very well.
-
I'm thinking of buying this laptop, does it handle heat pretty well with ic diamond? I'll mostly be playing games while plugged in
-
Yes indeed, no problems should occur if you paste correctly
-
figures that ivy bridge is dropping now. Just ordered my laptop and I frankly really just need it now. the sooner they make it, the better off I'll be :-/
-
Will the 660M, if at all, be offered on the 9150 any time soon (before May, perhaps)?
-
Last news for GTX660M from China says May...
-
Oh well, guess I'll have to go with Fermi.
And how different will the performance be between these two options (I need an optical drive):
- Seagate Momentus XT - 750GB as Hard Disk
- 500 GB 7200rpm HDD as Hard Disk and a MyDigitalSSD mSATA 128GB in the mSATA Drive
And how much difference in battery life will I see if I choose 670M or 675M? I know the 9150 is a gaming laptop, but I want to get the most out of battery life in my purchase, and for that which card should I choose? -
If you put the OS + a few programs on the mSATA then it will be far and away faster than the first option as its a full SSD in there.
For power draw, remember there is optimus, so the numbers will directly depend on how much you use the nV GPU the more you use the GPU then the 675m will use more battery. But non (Intel only) battery numbers should be similar. -
Upgrade to 750GB is a $115 extra and a 128GB mSATA MyDigitalSSD is $180. So is the difference of $65 really worth it? I do play graphic-intense games occasionally, but mostly web-browsing and programming.
So for my needs above, the $100-extra 675M should be a good buy if I'm only going to game when plugged in and only code/browse web when on battery? -
I have a mSATA in my current laptop (128GB) with a storage HDD, and I love it, kind of the best of both worlds as the HDD gets spun down if I'm not using it. Especially if you can fit your IDE / Games onto the mSATA SSD
And yea you are correct on the 675m. -
Great! I guess I'll get the mSATA and the 675M. Thanks for your help!
EDIT: This would be the mSATA SSD I would have to buy, right?
http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/mydigitalssd-128gb-50mm-bullet-proof-msata-ssd/ -
Yes, but we also offer them as a configuration option
-
So I just recieved my NP9150 from XoticPC, but I can't seem to find the drivers/program for changing the keyboard LED color. Any idea where I can find the software?
*edit*
Just figured it out; gotta install the function keys software, and LED controls are on the numpad -
We can has pics + review?
