Well, and I may be jinxing myself here - ever since I switched the memory I havent had a single issue. All the other updates went ok, youtube streaming is working fine, no errors on reboot, etc. Getting ready to install Afterburner to see if I have any issues there.
Guess thats what I get for trying to be slick and get the higher clocked memory. Guess that gives me a reason to return it and grab a 16GB kit, which is what I wanted originally anyway since I will be doing a lot of video editing and photoshop on here too.
What seems to be the popular choice for 1600MHz memory for these? Theres a bit more to choose from on New Egg in that speed.

Was supposed to receive my laptop today, but UPS decided to troll and change their delivery schedules by 6 hours today. In the 12 years I have lived where I live, they have only ever come in the evening. Today, they came at noon while I was out at lunch.
-
Hahaha well thats better than being pushed back 6 hours later.

My Catalyst Control Center has started not retaining settings for the applications I set. I'll set an application to high performance (or power saving) and hit apply, and then it will revert as soon as another application is launched. On that note, my one application profile (specific settings to force AA in SWTOR) disappeared as well. Has anyone else run across this?
-
thats because you haven't got your 7970m yet and haven't experienced the BSOD's and crashes and useless tools that can't even detect the GPU... just stating a fact.
you can go with all these troubles with amd, or you can update drivers with one simple click with Nvidia drivers and not have to worry about BSODS/Crashes. I'm not hating on AMD and their owners, I'm just trying to warn people of what they are getting into with AMD, which I was not warned of and made me pick the wrong choice. -
Yes, Sager originally put them there in the P150HM but a few resellers asked them to change to make aftermarket upgrades easier and now they're under the keyboard.
Now, if only the speakers used that much... Does anyone know how that stacks up to the M15x?
If I were you, I'd send the 8GB back to Xotic and ask for 16B of 1600MHz instead, from them so it would be covered under your warranty.
Who are you talking to? Certainly not the guy you quoted, as he's having problems with his memory, not his GPU. And just so you know, trolling is against the forum rules. -
His problems are not GPU related genius!
TIP: If you want "warn" everyone about problems you should probably READ the problems properly. -
I think he is just trying to justify the hundreds of dollars he paid for a slightly better card.
Anyway, has anybody gotten their tribes promotion code yet? What exactly does it come with? Do you get double xp like those that have bought into the vip system?
Also Steam summer sale is on! -
The steam summer sale is insane. I just downloaded Tribes completely free and its a lot of fun. Skyrim is down to $40 which I'll be getting when my 9150 ships. Also, the community is voting for the next deal on steam's website. I voted for The Witcher 2 (60% off).
Sorry to get off topic
-
Just got my new 9150. How do you adjust the backlit keyboard?
-
Adjust, as in change colors? "FN" + Numpad "/" I think (don't own a 150 yet).
-
Adjust it with Fn+ some of the numpad keys. / takes you to the control software, * turns it on and off, and + and - control the brightness.
EDIT: ninja'd.
Hey, I'm still wanting to rep anyone who can confirm if the BMI intensity shuttle is compatible with the P150EM. -
Hello,
I had the same problem you had getting a hang in the installation process of the intel chipset and I was able to solve it using the method below.
If you're using an external dvd drive to install the drivers - make sure the usb connection is connected to the usb 2.0 port and NOT the usb 3.0 port.
Hope this helps! -
that's it! thanks.

Can I install a 32gb ssd msata into my P150EM (I already have 120gb sdd and 1tb hdd). Can I use the msata as a cache?...

I actually had trouble myself with the USB drivers on my first install. I made sure to keep those off and any USB devices unplugged (except my thumb drive with the drivers on the usb 2 slot) Also since your memory seems to be the issue, I also am using 1066 RAM so that's probably why I've never had an issue with crashing. Oh, and I have no page file, its disable. Really, RAM speed doesn't make that big of a difference unless you're using a really special app, since processors generally can't even saturate the full bandwidth in real world usage situations. Any brand with a good reputation should work for you. PNY, Kingston, etc... I have 32GB of G.Skill 1066 cause it was on sale and it's worked very well so far. Its awesome to throw all temp files, Photoshop scratchdisk space, and cache onto a gigantic RAMdisk. 4GB system RAM, 8GB page file, and 24GB scratch/temp should work well for just about anything. Hell, you can dump entire game images into the temp disk so you can load and play instantly.
Tribes is always free
I'm pretty sure that's the main reason for it other than a boot drive
Sound quality is great but the subwoofer is not a subwoofer. Its pretty much junk and only plays 300HZ and higher fairly weakly. Keyboard is awesome, but E+multiple key combos can cause a 2 key ghosting limit in games. I use EDSF cause that's how the original Starseige Tribes was laid out, but I have to change that to WASD if I want to game with just the laptop keyboard. Plus WASD is just lame, you lose a lot of easy access to adjacent keys with your left hand. Curses @ EA -
Hello everyone, I just received mine, went to plug it in and turn it on and nothing. Any ideas? Need help ASAP. The l.e.d in front came on one yellow and one green but nothing else.
-
Could you try re-seating the RAM on your system? Sometimes during shipping the memory can be jostled loose in transit.
Another thing you can try is removing the AC adapter and the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds and then reconnecting both items.
Lastly, and this is a bit tougher, you could try disconnecting the CMOS battery and waiting 30 seconds (AC adapter and battery removed prior) and waiting about a minute before reconnecting it everything.
The CMOS battery should be located underneath the keyboard and can be disconnected by unplugging the red/black twisted pair of wires that run from the battery into the mainboard. -
Winner, not exactly sure what happened but plugged into power with no battery in and powered on and worked then put battery back in and no work at first and it came alive, I shall call this one Frankenstein
-
Well, I found out how to solve this. I had to delete my C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\ATI folder. Unfortunately, this means that all the games I have saved are deleted as well. Has anyone else had this problem?
-
I have a question about catalyst and a game. So when i run league of legends at 1920 res and with everything on very high, i only get like 20 fps. Correct me if im wrong, but the 7970m should be able to tear this game up right? When i exit the game though, the Catalyst center prompt doesnt come up, even though it is set to (I checked). Does anyone know what to add to Catalyst Control for League of Legends?
-
When you run league of legends the first time it will run with the Intel 4000.
When you exit it "should" come up with a popup allowing you to configure that exe for High Performance. If that's not the right exe Browse to the League of Legends folder and select the one that looks like it's the right one.
Then set it to high performance. -
Lee, i tried that, i started the game and went into a custom match and then exited everything, but no popup came up, so I'm not quite sure. Does anyone know the right exe to chose?
-
For the 1tb drive? Yes.
Who did you order from and how much research did you do beforehand? This is what m keboard looks like when I'm not riorosl correcting mself as I tpe. Bad, I know, my G, U, and Y keys are very unresponsive.
Did your fans come on?
7970m sort of has trouble reliably tearing anything up right now. But yes, it should be able to... -
I guess what I meant wasnt directed at the cards performance, because I dont think im running the card on the game, but no pop up ever came up when i ran the League of Legends game and client and then exited out of everything.
-
Update #2: What causes the CCC to lock me out from adding any new applications to its list is setting a custom application profile in the 3D settings tab. I don't know why this is. Does anyone?
-
Bah you've won this one, but how about this?! I got Mafia 2 for $7!Beefsticks said: ↑Tribes is always free

Not sure I don't play it/have it but if you browse to the directory League of Legends is installed in you should find at most maybe 3 executables.CabooseMSG said: ↑Lee, i tried that, i started the game and went into a custom match and then exited everything, but no popup came up, so I'm not quite sure. It's probably just League of Legends.exe or LoL.exe or League.exe or something like that.
There aren't usually that many. Maybe one for the game and one for a benchmarking tool and one for a toolkit or something...
To find a directory that a game is installed in right click on the desktop shortcut and select properties that should take you to the path.
I install all my games to a separate partition and a games directory not the default C:\Programe Files\Name of gamexxx eg D:\Games\Starcraft 2
When you run the game you could also run Task Manager and then Alt=>Tab and leave the game running and check to see the name of the exe for League of Legends there...
Just browse to the directory and add every executable and set it to highperformance. Shouldn't be many. -
Well for like 5 months I've been looking for a high end gaming laptop I was choosing between the sager and msi gt60 but the sager had the 680m so I chose that and I bought it from sager's official website

It's just getting used to the way Switchable Graphics works at first that's a bit tricky.
I've only added one exe manually which is the Farcry 2 benchmark.
Most games the pop up comes up after you run the game first time.
Some games the driver "knows" already.
I am pretty confident it will only get better with time and further driver updates.
Right now everything is working fine for me.
-
Well, just to update on my earlier issues. Since switching that 1866 memory out I still have not had a single crash or issue. All windows updates done; Kombustor ran fine for 20 minutes and 3dmark11 is in the bag now. I think im good to go.
Now to RMA the ram to newegg and get some 1600. Thanks to everyone that helped. -
Also just a reminder anyone interested in trying to get some extra features into the P150EM/P170EM especially those with the 7970M there is a pre-petition call for information here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/676231-interest-check-possible-petition-4.html
The more people we get behind it the better. Even if you aren't having any issues it's great for some simple "extra" driver functionality like fan control in CCC or a switchable graphics icon in the system tray or the like.
I am asking for the following
I second all OP has posted and add my own
Requires Immediate Attention
1. Some sort of notification of which GPU is running in the System Tray or a small icon that sits in the top right corner or left corner (like FRAPS) while gaming that can be enabled like in the Nvidia Optimus drivers with the option to:
"Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area"
So many issues seem to be because people don't know that the game they are playing is only using the Intel 4000 because they haven't configured it for the 7970M in Switchable Graphics.
Requires Immediate Attention
2. Ability to manually select which video card is being used. 7970M or Intel 4000.
Not Required, but Ideally
* List of all installed apps in Switchable Graphics similar to the Add/Remove Programs area so that you can easily see at a glance all games and their setting.
*GPU fan control in CCC like in normal AMD/Ati desktop drivers
*More games in the drivers (less need to add games .exes to Switchable Graphics

Alright, Falcon has finally arrived. Tweaking has commenced, and I'm installing some games right now. 3DMark11 gave me 5735 after updating windows, etc, etc, which I think is pretty good. I'm sure if I did another run I would be in 5800+ range.
I won't know for sure how frustrating enduro is until my games have finished downloading/installing.
My keyboard and screen seem to be working perfectly, and my fn+1 does indeed make the fans roar.
The sides are extremely sharp, however. I'm even thinking about trying to sand them down in the front.
The only thing I've noticed is that my speaker cover/panel doesn't seem like its clipped in all the way on the top left by the power button. I'm semi-scared to just try and force it back down, as I doubt that would actually solve anything. Any ideas? -

Sadly, portal 2 is downloading at ~150 kb/s, Deus Ex will take even longer, and I work in the morning, so I'm not going to be able to actually play a game on this beauty until tomorrow afternoon.

I had to RMA my system due to getting a dud 7970m ... bsod every time ,no drives would work evenafter doing fresh windows and trying an SSD and normal HDd ... getting my beast next Monday or Tuesday, they gave me express shipping At least for my troubles

Thx!PopeJamal said: ↑As far as I understand it, both of the cards use it. The primary card in the Intel one by default, but whenever the dedicated card turns on, the Intel card sort of allows the dedicated card to "pass-thru". That's a very horrible non technical description, but I think it's close conceptually.
Basically, it all happens in the background, so you don't need to worry about anything. Just make sure the dedicated card is setup to run your game.Click to expand...

Anyway I've been encoding a video for about 3 hours now. My CPU temps are fairly stable at ~87C, with the back raised about 2mm. Should I raise it more? These seem a bit high. Really wish I had turbo fan mode. -
Raise the back a bit more, I've found that little bottle caps work great in creating extra air flow, and they can be found everywhere..E.Blar said: ↑= Edited out by Ryan to get rid of traces of deleted posts =

Yes my RMA got sorted out; took a while though >_>. I ordered this beast on May 1 for crying out loud and am just now getting a working one. It says it will be here next Tuesday [17th] but I'm hoping for Monday. Waiting for tomorrows FedEx Express update
I have work 6AM to 4:30 PM every day anyways so I'm not caring too much since I've been really busy. But I'd love to play a bit on my weekends
hah.
