I'll check this right away, but as a side note I've restarted my computer a couple times now, which is normal with a new computer. It seems that during each session my internet connection either works or it doesn't, with no way to fix it other than restarting and hoping for the best. For example, this post IS from my Sager.

Would this apply even if I had Windows preinstalled?

Yes it does. I received my laptop today and had to get the driver from the disc for my wireless card too. I had Windows preinstalled too.

Power supply specs for anyone who's interested in DIY modding a 3rd party PSU:

    Output
    19 Volts x
    9.5 Amps =
    180 Watts
    Tip = 5.5mm, 2.5mm (5.5mm outer diameter 2.5mm inner hole diameter)
    Outer tip -ve
    Inner hole +ve

I picked up several cheap HP and Toshiba laptop PSUs and fitted them with new cords which included ferrite beads (removes high frequency interference) similar to the following...

5.5x2.5mm 5.5/2.5 DC Connector W/ Cord Cable 4 Gateway HP Compaq Laptop Notebook | eBay

I'd not recommend going for a cheap unbranded PSU as you don't know how poorly its been made or if it will damage your laptop when something goes wrong. The HP and Toshiba ones I picked up included fuses inside the PSU for the outgoing cable to ensure that the current to the laptop was limited and the PSU was protected against short circuit currents (If the cable, tip or laptop is damaged then the fuse blows and no smoke or fire (always replace a fuse with the correct size for the device as many fires are caused by negligence to do this)).

I also just tried to cut the old tips of the PSU cables and change them for the correct size but even soldered the tip separated from the cable due to accidental tugging. This was because soldering a co-axial cable into the plug that was not designed for a co-axil cable and had a small screw on cap and tight gland was not easy even considered I'm pretty experienced with a soldering iron.

    PSU was £16
    New cord £2.80
    Total Price £18.80

I've never had a gaming rig and therefore have no clue what MSI Afterburner does. Nor do I know what Kombuster is. I will download it as soon as I can and run it. But can somebody explain to me what these two programs do? Do they come together or seperately? Will they actually overclock my GPU? Or just tell me overclocking stats?

After I installed the AU Optronics b156hw01 v4 screen into the laptop Windows update downloaded Lenovo ThinkPad LCD colour profiles and I'm pretty happy with them and the quality of the colour realism. The file name was TPLCD95.icm... I'm not sure if it can be found of the net.

    Afterburner overclocks the GPU
Kombuster stress tests the overclocked GPU to test its stability...

If you have never overclocked anything before then read up first. You can kill your GPU doing this or get blue screens!!

Clevo/Sager don't officially produce a matte version of this laptop... its actually a retailer upgrade.

Lol... I changed the tips for complete new cables after pulling one of the tip ends off the cable! The tips just aren't designed for a co-axial cable to be fitted in them. No smoke as I picked fused PSUs for safety.

I feel so special, I have taken my place among the Sager/clevo owners in this forum. My laptop comes this thursday! wahooooo. I did not order from xoticpc though. I bought it straight from the Sager website.

Should I upgrade to 16gb ram later? Does it really make that big of a difference?

Hello guys...does the Clevos P15xEMx have any restrictions for VGA upgrade?

I bought a laptop built in Clevo P15xEMx, with GTX 670M. I asked the manufacturer if i can upgrade my VGA, and they said i just can't =(...because the motherboard will not recognizes any VGA instead GTX 670M!
And this restriction is just for VGA..i can upgrade my CPU with no problems..

Is this a problem with the BIOS? My notebook is exactly like Clevo P150EM, Sager NP9150...

    Any ideas?

By vga upgrade you meant gpu upgrade, and by p15xEMx you meant motherboard version p150EMx? If all the above stands true, then yes you should be able to upgrade your gpu just like the rest of us. Btw who is your reseller?

Hey guys, every time I play a game only certain sounds work while playing with headphones.

Example: Minecraft damage sounds work, but digging and walking sounds don't.
In Tribes, everything works but the gun shooting sounds are extremely low, almost non existent.

Yet when I play these games with the headphones unplugged, the games work fine!

Any ideas on how to fix this?

btw, the in game settings to these games do not change when heaphones are plugged in, they stay the same headphones or not.

Also. the Tribes promotion code gives VIP status, meaning you get the 50%xp bonus just like those who have purchased something :D

You say P15xEMx as if the numbers that go in the "x" spot are interchangeable... they're not. it's important to note that if you bought the clevo P151EM1 (Sager NP9130) you can NOT upgrade the video card. Not really sure why, or the details on it, but that's why it's cheaper and resellers don't offer better video cards in them. Well, that and a few other things like a plastic shell instead of rubberized, cheaper speakers, etc. P150EM and P151EM1 are similar, but they are not the same machine.

they do NOT recommend upgrading the GPU in the P151EM, but it's possible aright, no hassle and it's the same machine as the P150EM with a slightl difference in mobo limitations and charger size

Sager assemble the laptop and build with the LCD you choose in the configuration page unless it specifically states a reseller feature. Likely the Clevo chassis that Sager orders are without LCD and they build according to order.

P151EM just gets the 120W PSU and they remove the backlit keyboard power from the motherboard, and the P151EM has a plastic chassis, where P150EM has the rubberized finish, that's it. Otherwise they're identical machines.

Well.. i'm using HWiNFO 64 here, and it says my MOBO is a Clevo P15xEMx...
I don't have the backlit keyboard...

    So i think it is a P151EM1.

Is there anything else i can check to be sure what model it is?

So the difference between them does not makes impossible an GPU upgrade?

    Thanks all for replies =)

EDIT: By the way, the reseller is Avell.

I know it's been done on the HM models. Just need the beefier PSU and heatsink that comes with the larger GPU, which usually ships with the GPU.

Not to rain on your parade, but from what I've read it's universally accepted that you're not supposed to order directly from Sager because their customer service is crap.

Hey guys, every time I try to run the amd drivers from the cd that came with the computer, it starts out fine then my screen flashes black a couple of times an then it just stays black for a while. While the screen is blacked out, a flashing horizontal bar is on the top left, just like the bar that pops up during boot. But the screen just stays blacked out for a while and then I get a blue screen.

How do i check to see which version of the gpu driver that I have?

Also what is normal gpu temperature for a game like battlefield 3?

Which driver is causing this? If it is the AMD Driver download then instead of selecting express install, select the custom install and see if the components of the driver are already downloaded. And simply check the ones that aren't and download those only. If none are downloaded, select one component at a time and download it that way. I had a similar problem and kept getting BSOD but this solution worked for me.

85c is fine. I would stop at 95c, typically they are rated at 105c.

No, as HTWingNut meant that they remove the connector for the backlight from the motherboard. You can swap keyboards and it will work, but it won't light up.

Something that has been annoying me as I have been gaming on this PC. They put the THX and HDMI stickers right where the base of your palm rests when you have your fingers on WASD. As a result, I get a lot of sweat on those stickers. I expect they will fall off eventually, and the sweat gets them dirty until I wipe them off.

Did you use 3m wrap for that? I ordered the booklet with all the samples and just waiting on it to see what I life and if I want to wrap anything on mine. I actually don't mind the rubberized finish all that much, but I am thinking I might want to wrap the glossy bezel instead of sand papering it.
