So this is a long-shot, but has anyone used Connecitfy and gotten it to work with the Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC? I have the Pro version of Connectify and have been corresponding with their tech-support for help, but they didn't really offer up any advice other than "update your drivers..." which of course I have. Windows is up-to-date and the WLAN drivers are the most current.

Now, I can create a hotspot and connect my iPhone/iPad/other Laptops without any problem (and Connectify reports that everything is working), but for some reason I can't send or receive data. I've tried disabling the power management setting on the WLAN card, but that didn't fix it.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated!

I just got an email from UPS; my sager has arrived at my house so I can't wait to get off work :D
I am debating whether I should put up a review or not to help inform anyone who is thinking of potentially getting the NP9150 but maybe that is not necessary seeing as awakeN already has a great review. If anyone wants to hear what my thoughts are on the laptop tell me and I may do a video or text review! (if I am not too busy that is :p)

    Congrats zeb323!
If you have some time people are always interested in things like fan noise, sound qualify, keyboard, and of course benchmarks. You can also update your signature like so we know what specs you got.

My W530 CPU's average is 35-40 celsius under light use (wifi, web surfing, youtube, music..) and that's even with the stock thermal paste..

I just tried plugging my mouse in my USB port today and noticed that all the USB ports on the left side of my laptop (assuming you are facing the screen) are REALLY stiff. I have to force my USB mouse in and I feel like I am going to damage something...is this normal or are mine messed up?

Mine idles at 40 - 45 degrees after all possible temperature mods.. but this is just because my cpu and gpu fans do not spin at all when in idle(nice fan policy clevo :s ), so I think those temps are normal then..

btw how did you get fn+1 function on p150em, it is normally not there..?

idk, fn+1 works in some laptops and doesn't work in others. I recall there was a huge thread about it a while ago and it was because of a BIOS version or something. I was just one of the luckier ones who got a laptop that came with the fn+1.

    Correct.

If you want the FN + 1 option to work, update your BIOS to the newest.

My laptop came with the 1.04 bios and I flashed the 1.05 bios from the clevo bios thread here succesfully, but that didn't change anything, it still doesn't work..

You need the latest Sager BIOS, not the Clevo BIOS. They are very similar but not quite the same.

For 50-60c CPU temps, that's not really an issue, the CPU temp really is controlled by the fan slope in the Clevo EC. For example, if you put a slower cooler CPU in the fan would run even less and the temps would be ~similar. Mine is generally between 50-60c, thats with MX-4. It was pretty similar, maybe a couple deg more with stock paste.

Is it safe to flash a sager bios on the clevo p150em? and backwards is also possible? I'm just asking since there is a remark in red in the bios topic stating that it's very hard to go back or something?

Also where to find a sager bios? I can only find clevo bios'es here on the forum

Sager doesn't post BIOS on the interweb. You'll need to contact their support department directly.

They'll tell you that Clevo BIOS and Sager BIOS are not interchangeable and you use Clevo BIOS at your own risk.

You can call them: (800) 741-2219 (West Coast Business Hours)

    Or email them: [email protected]

They are interchangeable, it is the same hardware (Sager sells Clevo machines) however you need to know what you are doing and follow special steps or you can brick your machine. Your machine probably came with the Sager BIOS on it originally. Where did you buy it from ?

Those special steps are more than just what I did earlier to upgrade to .05? (flashing EC and then bios)

I think I had an original clevo and not sager model/bios, I bought it from Clevo P150EM game notebook hardware online webshop

Btw I just did a 3dmark bench for those that are interested. I got a score of 6442 which is pretty good I think ? This without any vbios mod or voltage mod, just raised the clocks to 950/1400.

    Max temps running 3dmark: cpu 78c & gpu 75c

Result: AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P6442 3DMarks

The special steps are simply to flash both EC and BIOS with no reboot in between.

That bench looks good, just where it should be!

EDIT: I just ran the Windows Experience Index, (to make it run on the GPU you need to add c:\windows\system32\winsat.exe to the apps that run on GPU) and here is what I got:

Use Throttlestop and bump your score even further. I was getting 7400 with stock voltage with speeds at 900/2400

No, he's on a 680m and so that is 2400 which is 1200 clock, 4800 effective.

nVidia still goes by the double rate.

When did that happen? Right when you started the benchmark? Or part way through?

I would say yeah, reinstall the drivers, make sureyou have both the intel and nvidia drivers, and then try again.

I just reinstalled the nvidia drivers, but not the intel drivers. The nvidia card seems to be working in actual games.

The error only occurs about 20 seconds after pressing "Run 3DMark 11", when it says "Please Wait".

Also, does anyone else's stock keyboard's space bar not really register when you press it with your right hand on the right side of the key? All the other keys are fine.

this is what itlooks like if i don'tcorrectthe spaces. it's really annoying because i'm aprogrammerand i have to go back andadd thespaces.

I ordered a Steelseries though, so I guess I'll see if that fixes the problem when I receive it.

I think the right side of the spacebar doesn't register as well because your right thumb naturally rests on the very edge, while the left thumb is almost in the middle of the spacebar. I wish they hadn't included the Windows key and just extended the spacebar or put the Windows key on the left side of the spacebar..

I have no problems at all with the keyboard, i dont do the missed keys or the space errors. Though i been using a VAIO Z for the past 4 years, so im used to typing on small keyboards. One thing that does get me is that on my keyboard, to the right of the space key, theres the '\' and '|' key, and a duplicate of that key above 'enter'. I wouldve though it logical to throw out the duplicate and indeed extend the spacebar to the right. If that at all makes sense o_O

There seems to be another odd issue.
My laptop does not boot up when I press the power button, unless it is plugged in. After that, I can remove the AC adapter and run on battery power. I think I read about this issue before, and it was resolved by manipulating the battery in some way.

EDIT: It appears that if I press the power button for 3 seconds without the AC, it turns on...weird.

Can someone recommend a good case for Sager NP9150 (Clevo P150EM)? Either leather type or even hard case for most protection. Price is not issue.

How about a good sleeve? Like the one the dell XPS m1530 came with? The size of this laptop seems just a bit bigger then all standard 15 inchers and smaller then 17s. It's really annoying trying to find a good sleeve.

Its a 'Case Logic XNS-15' reversible sleeve. It is quite snug, in length its spot on, width its a bit more than the laptop.
I just went to a local bag store with my laptop, and asked if i could try out all the sleves if they fit.

    Quick tech question:

I was thinking about swapping around the 6970m I have in my Alienware M15x and the 7970m in my 9150. Will I get better performance from the 6970 in my 9150 since I won't have to deal with the under-utilization issues of the 7970? Is it worth it do swap the cards?

I got both sleeve and case on both my m1530s but they were ordered only a short time apart. The sager np9150 "fits" into the XPS sleeve but it's really tight on width and stretches the neoprene sides.

I went on amazon looking for sleeves that are similar to the XPS one and can't find any!!! I don't want a total neoprene because I use the XPS one as a lap desk when I travel do the damn computer doesn't burn me and it's a reasonably stable platform to allow airflow. Neoprene. I would just see getting melted or blocking the air in takes.

Can people put links of decent semi rigid sleeves that fit this model?

I dont think this would help at all cnduffey, as your still useing the mother board switching of the video cards and the ATI driver. you cant disable this on the P150EM as it does not use a Mux like the Alienwares that can disable this function.
Maybe it will help if the 6970 driver are working better have to see what the guru's say on that.

So I'm wondering does anyone else's 9150 make a LOUUUUUUUUUD beeping noise when it gets low battery? Mine has only done this a few times, and I'm wondering if there's any way to make sure this thing is turned off? It would be pretty obnoxious for it to go off like that during lecture or something.

    Thanks

You can turn it off in Windows. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Sounds Tab > the select the Critical Battery alarm and change the sound to None or something more desirable.

hi guys, i think a problem with my internet connection and i think it's cause of my wireless card bigfoot 1103.

i contacted my isp 3 times telling them i keep getting a lot of disconnects on my network.
The first time, i think they changed some internal setting or w/e with my internet..
The second time, told me to reset my modem router....
Last time, i went to and swapped for a new router.

Now i'm still getting these disconnects. Could it be the drivers or is there some sort of problem with the card? Had the np9150 for almost 2 weeks.

I've heard of Antivirus programs causing these issues. If you're using one disable it in favor of a free one like Avast to see if it continues to happen.

Also try new drivers directly from Killer Gaming :: Support :: Driver Downloads

There are two fans and for what its packing the system does an above average job at keeping it cool. In a 15" form factor with this kind of firepower you won't find much better cooling elsewhere.

There are threads and posts for user mods to improve cooling, but as it comes it does a good enough job I think. Just be sure to get upgrade on thermal paste or do it yourself later.

Coming from Dell and HP, my clevo cooling wise is topnotch :)
