Thanks everyone for answering my questions about Clevo p150EM.

I am planning to place my order in the next 2 days at XOTICPC. However, I am still feeling uncomfortable about the dead pixel policy. My total comes up to 2300$ after customization. I will be pissed off if i see any dead pixels on such an expensive machine. The customer care guy suggested me to take 60 day insurance, but that is 60$ extra, which is an unnecessary expense considering they can easily check the display before building it. Even if i take the insurance, i still need to send the machine back for replacement which is a hassle. I never had dead pixel issues with any of my older laptops. Am i worrying too much?

What to do? any ideas please?

On the same note, I always consider myself an unlucky guy. :(
What if i get exactly 5 pixels which is well within the acceptable standard dead pixel policy? I will be

too many questions....too much uncertainty...lot of confusion and anxiousness. is this common before ordering a clevo :D

I am pretty sure that if you buy the dead pixel insurance they test it when building it.

I got the 95% Matte with the dead pixel insurance and I have zero bad pixels :)

60 bucks for them to just test the screen is indeed ridiculous. I payed 2000 bucks to get a completely scratched up screen with serious ghosting issues, then my reseller sent me a new screen for 150 bucks, which has failing back light on one side, a dead pixel and a very grainy/oily/dirty look... yea, better be safe and just pay them, although it's a total scam.

Now I'm stuck with a very expensive machine that has 2 very ty monitors, you don't wanna get in that position.

Atleast I learned something... Clevo? Absolutely. Sager? Never again.

Don't get me wrong, everything else is great, but how can they ship out computers with screens that have multiple faults? I also find it strange that my reseller would send me a this much ****ed up screen too...

Yea thats why we inspect every screen and laptop before it goes out, our Dead Pixel policy just covers if there are any issues in the first 30 days of owning it (We've seen them develop after getting it), but yea we aren't going to send out trash screens at least from us, one of the benefits of building :p

It's really luck of the draw. My system has been pretty much perfect. I had a small hiccup with my Vertex 4, but that had nothing to do with the laptop.

I bought it from a Canadian reseller reflexnotebook.ca, they are a nice bunch of lads ready to offer support, they even offered me the 30$ warranty shipping coverage, I didn't have time to wait for my laptop to get to California and back though... This was a week before my return to Europe. So they offered to sell me a panel they had lying around, this sounded promising, but my view of the company definitely changed for the worse when I saw the condition of the panel that it was in. My fault for not acting sooner, but I find it unacceptable to sell something in such a bad condition. I jetted off next day so I didn't have time to deal with them either.

All in all, in the distant future, I'll be sure to go directly with a builder. Schenker and Mythlogic look good, depends where I'll be in that time. In the meantime, I'll have to live with this crappy LCD, when I'll save up some cash, I might decide to get my third panel from someone who actually checks what they are selling and offers warranty.

Bf3 has terrible under utilization issues with enduro. On ultra your looking less than 28fps I think. And it doesn't improve when you lower settings cause utilization goes down. Some people have hopes for drivers soon though :)

    Hey guys,

Anyone here has Mythlogic Pollux 1612? how is the LCD display on that? I am seeing some low scores for brightness in the anandhtech review. everything else is good(contrast, black levels, gamut..etc).

i am concerned about this because i am opting to go for matte screen which is already a little dull compare to glare type.

    Any suggestions?

Just wondering about Sager 9150, any owner is running Samsung 830? being 7mm, and thinking on how the 8130 that i bought my brother is simply just a top cover... idk if a slightly less thick drive will be fine. I know there is a spacer version, but it doesnt attach, its just like plain spacer... so just wondering how been the experiences for 9150 owners with Samsung 830.

Quick question for you P150EM owners: Is the AC adapter 240v compatible without any step down switches? A friend of mine recently got his P150EM but he is going to be leaving for Europe in a few days. I read the back of the AC adapter and it said it supported 240v, but I just wanted to get confirmation.

By the way, the P150EM is awesome. My friend got it with the 680m and it's one very capable machine. Truly amazing.

Well I sure as hell love my matte screen on my NP9150 (same as the 1612, I believe). I don't believe in the brightness issue as it is bright enough for me at least

The Matte screen is still super bright. I love it as well, or are you talking about the default matte? The upgraded 95% is phenomenal, really bright.

My Mushkin Atlas mSATA failed on day 1, kept BSODing. Couldn't use it for more than 30 minutes at a time. Last time I buy anything with SandForce, even if it is advertised as the fastest SSD. Since it's been back from RMA for about 2 months now, no issues with it.

Anyone know where I can see the performance of the GTX 680M maxed out on ULTRA settings in BF3 muliplayer 64 w/tanks and explosions?
That's what really matter and I wanted to see the 68m run with that at the most intense game dynamics.

So far, all I see are ultra with a few online players and nothing more then the open maps. The CQ maps where it matters most especially(i know its dumb) where they 64 players in the CQ maps.

Or do you have experience with the frame rates with what I am talking about? I want to knoew what th real FPS in BF3 is, not single player or i a smaller server on low settings. Ultra 64/ smoke/explosions/CQ maps

But for laptops, it rivals the best IPS displays for both viewing angles, color accuracy and contrast. I think one NBR who has used some of the best screens, ranks it in the top 3 after the HP DreamColor and Dell IPS displays. Dell no longer uses that display either, so it would be after DreamColor.

Hogwash. In the dark you can't even tell it's matte, even when compared with other glossy screens, it just looks better in bright light. Speaking of bright light, you should see this thing on full brightness, it looks awesome.

I've been off RP'ing on Gamefaqs and decided to check back to see if anything new has come out that I might want to upgrade to (don't care about the 680m, 675m is already plenty for me).

I'm getting about 5hrs on battery with the IGP, no wifi/BT, keyboard off, no sound, and screen brightness 2nd lowest setting. Maybe a little more. Is that about average? I get 3hrs with everything but sound on high, and IGP. Most of my cores idle at ~45C, but one of them is around 37. I haven't cleaned the dust out of my heatsink for a while, though, so it may be time to do that.

However, my keyboard keeps dropping keystrokes like crazy. I think my y, f, g, and n keys are very bad, and the rest drop strokes occasionally too. And then there's my Lshift, which often stays pressed one more keystroke than I wanted. I'm considering just fixing my old thinkpad for long essays and stuff, because this is lame.

So, any new stuff I should know about? I've almost filled my 1tb so bigger HDD's are definitely in line.

How can you make such a statement if you haven't seen how bright the screen is? This matte screen is brighter than most glare type I've seen. This is a very bright display, far brighter than the glare screen on my G73JH. It's a lot brighter than any other glossy screen my friends and relatives have.

The reason i made that statement:

i was checking the pros and cons of matte vs glossy on Google, a lot of those articles say that matte screen is somewhat dull compared to glossy.

I apologize for my ignorance. you guys have cleared that for me now, thanks :)

Hey guys - I've been looking into emulating some of my Wii games on my laptop (see sig), and apparently this is very CPU intensive. I have the IC Diamond Thermal Compound, but heard that PK-3 is much better. First, what is the best thermal paste for keeping temps as low as possible, and is there a tutorial somewhere on these forums? I've never done this myself and don't want to make a mistake. Thanks!

Tell them McDave sent you -- 27" WQHD 2560x1440 for under $400 --I just got one after confirming that HDMI and Display Port on 9150 with 7970m will work. The X270ME is the one for the Sager 9150/7970m. Using HDMI. Has speakers too.

    Displays

Ask for Dave if you call (not me, another Dave). If you order online, put McDave referral in notes. I ordered this am, estimated arrival 2nd week of Oct.

SPECIAL ($25 off) enter code "LOVIN1440" and get "pixel perfect" one year no dead pixels for a year. YOU CAN'T BEAT THIS DEAL, I have looked :) Ebay from Korea is too sketchy for me :)

    *** You're welcome ***

That looks awesome... What's its color gamut, it it an IPS, and does it have analogue inputs?

Not for me, unfortunately. All glossy, and it's so bright where my screens are that even most matte screens can't get rid of it.

It is IPS, only DVI-D on two of the models, and HDMI/DP/VGA/DVI-D on the one I got. The one I got is the only one with its own scaler built in, so if the input can't support the resolution, it will still display it -- unless you get an active connection adapter (that is what I learned through my q&A, but I am now exiting my area of expertise ;) )
    No analog.
    Checking on color Gamut.

Not sure if those things will do HDMI 1.4, so you may be limited to using only displayport, which wont be a problem unless you want to use two.

FWIW, those are the exact same monitors you get on ebay from korea.

Also, does anyone know what the max height for a sata HD in the optical bay is? Can you squeeze a 15mm tall drive in there? WD has a 2TB 2.5" drive out, but it's 15mm tall. I want to get it, if it will fit.

    Sager directly as well :)

I bought my clevo from MALIBAL and they were great to work with. I've also talked to mythlogic and they are very professional as well :)

Sorry for imposing, but I'm having a tough time choosing between the NP9150 and the NP6350.
I am leaning towards the NP6350 but until reviews tell me if the keyboard is better/worse/same than the NP9150 - I'm really stuck.
The NP9150 has a problem where in games multi-touch does not respond (space bar + 2 other keys for example) and that sounds damn annoying.

I have a thread laying out my thoughts here.
I'd appreciate if any of you Sager dudes could have a look!

(posted this in the NP6350 thread too, just to get the most of everyones knowledge!)

Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking these forums for a month or so; it's been an awesome source for information and inspiration. After deciding on a Sager, I ordered an NP6165 a few weeks ago. I was so impressed by it that I knew I would regret not getting a higher-end machine... so I filled out an RMA and placed an order on a new NP9150 :). I got it with the 675m (avoided the 7970 bc of enduro) and 12gb 1600MHz RAM. I ordered the 750gb hd, but I'll upgrade to a ssd soon. Anyway, I'm excited to be joining the club, and thankful that I found these forums. Cheers!

Great to hear, the 675M is actually plenty of power too.. don't mistake it for being mediocre :D

And welcome to NBR! Great to see new 'faces' every day

you can always do that afterwards if you don't feel like the stock is your kind of taste... people tend to have lots of opinions, some love, some hate, some order the MSI keyboards too

Thanks jaug. The 675 might not compare with the 7970 or 680m, but it sure beats my old vaio with integrated graphics :) lol

Has anyone tried coolers yet? Got a coolermaster u2 that did absolutely nothing noticeable. I still was around 90C with/without cooler (I just raised the back with an object prior).
