Can someone from Xotic tell me if the crucial m4 MSATA ssd's are the same speeds as the normal crucial m4 SSD's?
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The limitations of those drives will result in the controller itself. Msata in this system is limited to 3gb/s vs Sata III which is 6gb/s. The normal Crucial M4 will result in much better performance. -
thanks!
I am debating on whether to get a large HDD and small SSD Msata, or to just get a medium-large SSD as my only drive. A pity there isn't room for 2 normal hard drives in there like in the 15 inch MSI. Of course with the msi you sacrifice an entire fans worth of cooling to do that though (not worth it imo). I may just go for the 17 inch sager now instead.
Is the speaker and headphone audio better on the NP9170 than the np9150? I have heard the 15 inch's main weakness is in the audio department. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Same situation on the 9170 actually. They use the same audio chipset. The 9370 features the newer version and pretty good sound in my opinion. -
Does the Sager NP9150 bypass the sound problems if I use 2.1 speakers?
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
It wont because you're using the same sound card and speakers. Really the only way to improve the sound is to get a USB sound card. -
Hover over "Gaming Notebooks"
Hover over "15.6 inch blah blah blah" then scroll over to the Xplorer X6-9650.

I'm using 8-year-old Creative 2.1 speakers and the sound is good. Only when you plug in a headphone that the bass is gone.
-
Dang. I guess thats alright though.
I would love to get the 9370 and I was originally, but some things came up and it seems I need the portability of a 15 inch laptop, or at least a thinner 17 inch. -
Got mine yesterday, first addition was a 120gb msata ssd.
So easy to do.
Love it so far! -
Congrats on your new rig sir!
still waiting for mine.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Ah the waiting is the worst part, I like your configuration by hte way, looks like a great balance of price to performance.
I could not hack the onboard sound of the Clevo though.... I am too spoiled by MSI *shakes fist* -
Yeah Meaker, the wait is totally killing me!
-
Anyone have any luck with 15mm hard drives in the optical bay adapter?
-
Doubt it, the optical drive is 12.7mm high so even 12.5mm drives are pushing the limits.
-
Hey guys, I just got the Sager NP9150 and so far I am loving it. However, I am having a problem with the touchpad scrolling. Two finger scrolling works flawlessly, however, when I enable one touch scrolling, it doesn't seem to work. Has anyone else had this problem or does anybody know how to fix it? It isn't exactly a huge issue, but I much prefer one touch scrolling to two touch.

Going to be ordering one with a 7970 this week since school finally required me to have a laptop instead of just going home to do my work.
I missed out on the 100 off 1500 over christmas tho
Sent from my Transformer using Tapatalk 2 -
I'm gonna order one from Scan next week with a 680M, 3740QM, 16GB of RAM, 240GB SSD for £1450.
I have an old C2D desktop at uni but I went home for a month for Christmas with a thinkpad T60 from 2006 with only integrated graphics. Lost the ability to play most games, 720p video required that I wasn't doing anything else. I never want to be in such a dire situation again

Once the promotion ended the base prices all dropped $100. Same price as the promotion just without the promotion bit. -
Talk about a quick turnaround, given all the discussion in here I thought I'd be waiting 3 weeks for a shipment.
Just got my Tracking Number today! 5 business day turnaround time from order to shipping, definitely impressed so far with Xotic. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Glad to hear it! Production times will vary with time, but we're always going to get you out as quickly as we can. Let us know how it turns out for you. -
Just a weird question... how much time will it take for a Sager Laptop to ship to let's say Hongkong via sea freight?
-
Depends on a lot.. but I am going to shoot out a number: as little as 3 days - 3 weeks
-
Oh i see i see. Derek which config would you recommend when looking at hard drive. 1 big 256gb ssd and an external 1gig. 750gb standard and a 120msata. Is it better to have the msata as a xache or boot? I would like to avoid removing the optical drive as i might a use for it
Sent from my Transformer using Tapatalk 2 -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
I'd definitely recommend the 256gb SSD internal if you aren't needing more room than that. I personally think that is plenty of room but it differs from person to person. Are you really thinking about a 1gb external or was that a typo? -
It says graphic card upgragable on getech pc site for model - Sager NP9150 (Clevo P150EM) Special Edition GTX680M.
Does this mean like desktop, I can just replace with newer graphic cards ? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Assuming no bios issues the card is fully removable and upgradable.
-
Hah ment to be a 1tb external. Seems like I have everything in place maybe beside the whole 675mx 7970 or 680m
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Always get the largest amount of space on the SSD IMO, you will also get a faster drive with the larger ones too.
The 675MX is a very good contender and value for money while the 680M offers peak performance, especially to tweakers. -
will it be necessary for me to remove the 750 gb hdd out of the sager 9150 to ensure that no windows 7 ultimate 64 files get installed/placed on it?
i got the ssd preconfig'd to be the os
and obviously it's coming to me with no os. -
No it won't
as long as you select your SSD as the OS main base, the HDD is not relevant
-
Where can i download the THX software for the p150em?
-
@Blair,
The software is available in the P150 download list here: Software Upgrade -
cheers thanks all i can say is this laptop is 10x better than my m14x r2 apart from the sound but its not as bad as i was expecting.
do i really want to install intel rapid start and intel rapid storage?
i tried overclocking the 680 but the memory keeps reseting itself back to stock every time i click apply the core will apply correctly why?
Ive also noticed the subwoofer is making a clicking noise when not in use why? -
The Intel Rapid Start and Intel Rapid Storage will benefit you if you're using both an SSD drive and a HDD drive in RAID configuration. If you only have one of the two installed in your system, or your running the drives in ACHI mode then you don't need to bother with installing the Intel Rapid software.
I haven't tried overclocking my 680m (since it has handled everything I've thrown at it in its default settings), so I can't comment on that at the moment. What software are you using to try to overclock?
I didn't notice any clicking with my built in subwoofer. What are your speaker configuration settings in Windows? (Have you turned PC Beep to 0, and muted it? Having PC Beep on caused other people sound issues, so its possible that could be tied into the subwoofer noise. In Sound -> Speakers -> Configure I have mine set as folllows: 5.1 (next->) subwoofer checked (center and rear unchecked) (next->) Front Left and Right checked (surround speakers unchecked) (next->). If you don't have subwoofer checked in your Windows speaker configuration area adding it may help correct your issue. -
i can finally call myself a owner
woo
the laptop is great so far...
had to turn down the saturation -10 with the 95% gamut but other than that it's amazing
just finished optimizing for the ssd.
?'s
i installed Nvidia Inspector but i see no info displayed :\
how do i check temps etc.
also i guess i can't do any overclocking with a, 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM
also i'm getting a 7.3 score in windows is that taking into considerationn the 7970 gfx card? -
Solved it had to flash a modded vbios
I'll have a look at the sound options now. -
Hello owners!
A friend of mine has had his P150EM for about four months now. It's been working wonderfully up until today. It appears the PSU has died, but I want to make sure by asking here.
Once plugged in the wall, the blue light on the PSU does not light up, and the laptop refuses to power on. Sometimes--seems to be about every 45 min to 1 hour--the blue light on the PSU will light up, but it flickers and goes away shortly thereafter.
Solutions attempted:
Plugged in without battery in P150EM
Tried various other wall outlets with the same result
The machine itself worked on battery until it ran out of juice.
It's worth noting that we had some nasty rolling power outages yesterday followed by some brown outs due to weather. This could be what killed it off, although I just wanted to be sure and also check to see if anyone had any ideas/soluitions.
The machine specs are:
Core i7 3610QM
GTX 680M
- 16GB RAM @ 1866MHz
- Intel 520 Series 240GB SSD
Nothing is overclocked. It's all running at stock. Any input appreciated. We'll RMA the PSU if necessary.
EDIT: The same PSU worked in Ireland a few months back without any adapters, and I know they use different power source there, so hopefully that did not cause the issues. -
If anyone who has the Killer Wireless 1202 WiFi card in their NP9150, can you please confirm that the WiFi LED indicator does not not light up?
-
followed your sound option advice think it made a slight improvement in the sound cant hear no more clicking maybe its all good now, i can tell the speakers arnt as good as some other speakers ive heard on laptop but i was expecting a lot worse judging by what people say about them.
-
The blue light not being on is definitely an indication of the power supply brick failing. If the power brick is pulled into a wall outlet/surge protector/UPS then the blue light should be on regardless of whether its plugged into the notebook or not. (The light on the power supply could possibly die without the power supply dying, but that's highly unlikely after only four months, and your tests are indicative of the brick not providing power to the system as well). Most of the resellers I've seen of the p150em/np9150 have a 1 year hardware warranty, and the power supply brick should fall under that policy. If he contacts the person/place he purchased the system they should allow him to send back just the brick, and he shouldn't have to worry about sending the entire system away.
If he currently isn't using a surge protector or UPS to plug the notebook into then I'd recommend he purchase one since it will help protect against power outages shorting it out in the future. (I've seen power outages take down desktops and notebooks in the past that weren't connected through surge protectors or uninterrupted power supplies). -
Yep, my wireless indicator does not light up.

Hello Everyone!
I seem to be having an issue with the Control Centre on my 9150 (version 6.0056).
Whenever I launch it, it gives me this .NET framework error code:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
If i click ignore, the control centre works, but the brightness sliders (and brightness hotkeys) don't work.
From a google search, I read that this can be caused by a Microsoft office installation (which I do have). I tried to re-install the hotkey driver, but nothing changed.
Also, another problem i have is that the control centre does not work after resuming from sleep mode.
Does anyone know any solutions?
Thanks in advance. -

Have you tried making sure you have the right .Net versions installed and make sure you have the latest versions (they are not backwards compatible so 2.0 .net programs need 2.0 and wont work with 3.0 for example.

im having issues with my CPU it does not seem to want to turbo really its at 68C running BF3 and it sits at 2700Mhz its a 3740QM, running prime95 makes it dart around from 3.1 to 3.5Ghz
My old 3610 turboed to 3.3 and stayed there when playing games.
Edit: seems to turbo to 3.5Ghz most of the time in crysis 2, Prime seems to jump from 3.1-3.5 still temps are fine strange as most laptops ive had they just sit at max turbo clock unless they overheat.
Also got the issue of the gpu fan never spinning down until opening something like GPUZ -
mine isn't lit
pls someone let me know how to choose my 7970 card
set max on ccc and high on the laptop i still don't see it on skyrim launcher. -
That's odd my 3610 only turbos up until 3.1 GHz across all cores
Try forcing it with throttlestop -
I've got a 9150 due to arrive on my doorstop sometime Monday. Since I'm going to want good sound, a USB soundcard seems like just what the doctor ordered. I notice several here like the ASUS Xonar U3. I like the form-factor of that unit, but notice that it can only do 16/48. Since I have a number of 24/96 audio files, that would be a problem. Does anyone know of a "USB stick" type of sound card (not a desktop box like the AudioEngine) that would handle at least 24/96?
-
@ettorino,
You might want to check the output side with a Digital Multimeter. You can usually find a cheap one for less than 10 bucks that will do a good enough job to check something like this. If you're seeing any voltage, double check to see it matches the output on the bottom of the brick.
It sounds like your power-brick likely burnt up due to the brown out power situation. Less voltage means more amperage through the adapter to maintain the output spec. If it happens repeatedly, that will cause damage. -
Hey guys, has anyone had experience hooking up the laptop to a bluetooth wireless speaker using A2DP? I am using an N-6235 adapter.
