HI,
I've been thinking about getting the 9150 & have a few questions about adding a 2nd drive. To add a 2nd drive, I would have to use the optical bay right? If I don't want to use the optical bay, I would have to get a SSD mSATA right?
Regarding the optical bay, I see the option for
If I pick that selection, does it come with a HDD caddy or would i have to get this
Can you haggle with a rep from XoticPC or Mythlogic to get a better deal? If you call in with Exotic & talk to rep mention that that I'm a NBR member, I'll get another discount on top of the 3%?
Does Mythlogic have extra discounts for being a NBR member?
With Mythlogic's upgrade lifetime upgrade plan, does that mean I get a discount for upgrades & what happens to my old part? Do I get it back or can I resell back to them & use the $ towards the upgrade?
Does ExoticPC have a lifetime upgrade plan? if so what is it?
I'm really looking forward in getting a new Sager 9150 but still researching to make sure I get the best deals possible since this will be a huge investment for me.
I'll be running Ubuntu 12.03 & using Wine for gaming. Would ATI or Nvidia be better for me with less hassle?
TIA
-
You're best bet is to contact the companies directly and see what discounts (if any) they will offer in addition to the cash/check/money wire form.In the past some of them have sated that Sager ties their hands as to what they are allowed to offer discount wise. (If there are other promotions - like the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Holiday sales they often say that limits what they can offer you). Mythlogic describes themselves as system builders instead of Sager resellers, and put together and test the systems themselves as opposed to providing you with Sager built hardware, so they tend to be more expensive then the resellers, and don't offer the same discount programs. In addition to Mythlogic LPC-Digital also offers a lifetime hardware upgrade plan. As to if they let you keep the old hardware part, and resell it yourself that's again something your best off asking them.

Anyone know if there's something like a "battery placeholder" ?
I normally use the laptop with battery taken out, but I feel like the battery slot should somehow be covered.
-
Yes, the control centre runs off 3.5, which comes with windows 7. Any other ideas?
-
I got a buzzing noise coming from around the cpu its defiantly not the fan any ideas?
Also does anyone else's that has a 3740Qm only go up to 1.8Ghz whilst on battery and no higher? -
Go back a couple of pages or do a search on this thread. There's been a few people who have mentioned about the buzzing noise. I can't say I can hear it on mine though.
-
Tried everything this guy said still got buzzing on battery,
when i have gpuz open i get a clicking noise as well from the cpu area. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's something that has been requested but does not exist yet.
I doubt it as it's added cost, games are more likely to be downloaded. -
sweet, thanks for the info. I'll be doing what you suggested in a few days once I get done with my researching. thanks again.

Ooh, bad news

Hello.
I just received my P150EM barebone from EUROCOM. All is well but I would like to know in windows 8 how can I change the way scrolling is done. Despite having selected in the control panel for the scroll to be done only with the side with one finger, I cand only use scroll by using two fingers and in natural way(like apple first introduced in OSX a year ago) like on the iPad. Also I hate that when ever I swype the cursor from right to left the quick shortcuts from the right side come up. How can I disable all multitouch gestures? I already did so in the utility that synaptic provides but it does not help me. Also when I am on battery windows does not show me how much battery I have left. How can I turn this feature on? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I would install the latest synaptics drivers and that will give you gesture control.

has the 7970m issue actually been fixed yet?
I have read a lot and seems the newest driver seem to fix most of the issue. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Its not 100% yet, most DX11 games seen to be working as they should but DX10 and DX9 games people are still reporting some issues.. Official drivers are supposed to be released Wednesday so we'll see how those work. -
Yay, just joined the P150EM owners club, 3740QM which I intend to overclock, GTX 680M which can stay at stock (it's far better than the GTX 260 216SP in the machine it's replacing), 240GB Intel 335 SSD, 16GB of RAM. Should be here in 2 weeks. Sorry I didn't order from one of you american resellers with your fantastic customer service, but taxes and claiming on the warranty would've been difficult for a brit like myself ;D
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It can be close with taxes, they are basically just VAT and a small import handling fee since they are not subject to duty, but you are right that the shipping becomes an issue, but it sounds like a really nice config there, you should be able to enjoy that

Think i may have to return mine i have buzzing coming from the CPU area and GPU and when the GPU is in use i get a clicking noise all are fairly audible.

Just pulled my new NP9150 out of the box and got things running. So far my first impressions are pretty good, was definitely surprised to find a free small laptop bag in the box-- not sure where that came from. The 95% gamut screen is utterly beautiful. =)
Benchmarked the GTX 675MX card and got a pretty solid result with no tweaking: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P4204 3DMarks -
Finally got my NP9150 on Friday, finally got everything set up yesterday. I started noticing the space wasn't working all that great during Battlefield 3, look down and notice that it is completely lifted on one side and off its hinge. Called Sager (a person immediately answered!) and they have an RMA request in and are sending me a replacement keyboard. Will keep everyone updated with how they handle the return/exchange.

Anyone else have a buzzing noise coming from the cpu area if you put your?
-
What was the end of your sentence going to be? (Looks like its missing).
I did a search for the buzzing on the forum again, and turned up the old topic on it here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/682199-np9150-sound-problem.html
It looks like at some point muting the PC Beep became setting the PC Beep to 0 (which I've seen written elsewhere). Its possible setting it to 0 still keeps the problem item turned on while muting it may set the flag for it to disabled. If you haven't muted PC Beep (setting a red circle with a strike through it) give that a try and see if it makes a difference. If you don't use your built-in microphone for anything then you may want to mute it too for good measure. I never experienced the buzzing myself (I muted the volume for PC Beep and Microphone when I first received my system which may be a possible reason). -
I have had my NP9150 (Holiday Special) for a few weeks now. I am currently running Windows 8 Pro on it. Overall, great performance... I love it! The one thing I've encountered is that when I resume from hibernating or sometimes when I reboot, the screen will show whatever the image is, but with a teal/blue tint. It's almost like the red and green haven't kicked in yet. Pretty sure it's a hardware issue given that it happens both with a windows image and with the bios screen. It's only for a brief moment, but it makes me wonder if I should worry about any potential hardware issues down the road. I just got the machine, so I'd like to take care of any problems right away! Anyone noticed something similar?
-
Nope, don't have that issue on mine so it looks like a hardware problem, sorry to say.
-
I keep running into hints in the other forums about if you get a Sager np9150, don't get Windows 8 unless it's the pro version or stay with w7. Why is that? I'm trying to buy this evening, and I don't see anywhere specifically that explains the reasoning behind this, and I've been searching through the threads.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Hello and welcome to the forums!
I actually haven't heard this reasoning before. I don't see any performance based reason behind this personally. I'm using Win 8 base version and no problems whatsoever, not on a Sager though. Along with those hints you've been receiving, have you been given hints as to why as well? -
No, which is why I'm kind of irritated. I realize there are a lot of reviews on both sides about how they like/don't like w8, but I'd like to know whether any of them ARE performance based, or just biased opinions.

Hi all,
I was asked by an AMD representative a few days ago about whether the display signal in the Clevo P150EM is shared between the DVI and HDMI ports. I heard some people said the signal was shared. But if the signal was shared then it wouldn't be possible to light up 2 monitors at the same time, right? Can anyone help me in this?
ryuu -
Read the differences between Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro and decide for yourself. The only reason I wouldn't install Windows 8 (not pro) is because it's missing Remote Desktop feature.
-
Just finished doing the wire transfer to LPC-Digital for the 9150 Special Edition 680m model. Can't wait to receive & mess around with the bad boy.
Thanks again to Larry@LPC & Derek@Exotic, you guys rock & were so helpful to me. I would recommend either of them to anyone that is looking to buy in the future. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You should be able to but you wont be able to use your internal display at the same time as it's not a problem I have come across, worst case is you get a passive DP->HDMI converter. -
Has anyone tried the AMD Radeon 13.1 drivers on their HD 7970? I installed them on my desktop HD 7970 and it cured all the issues I was having, however I'm scared to try them out on my P150EM after all the agro it took me to get this thing working correctly!
-
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
Yeah, the mobility driver works pretty well. I still have to play FC3 in DX9 to avoid the black box glitch though. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Just make sure to install them over the current driver and not mess around with any driver cleaner type apps.

I'm looking to get a new blu-ray drive for my P150EM, anyone know if this one will work?

Yes, you will just have to switch the bezel over.

Hey guys, my wireless seems to go into "limited" mode from time to time. This means I am connected to my router wirelessly but there's no data coming through, even though there's nothing wrong with the router itself (ie. I can load pages on my phone but not on my PC).
I need to go through the W8 troubleshooting wizard and it fixes it until the next time. I've updated the drivers but it doesn't seem to have fixed this intermittent issue. Any ideas guys? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
This is an issue that I experience myself pretty commonly on my desktop, but not on my laptop. From what I've gathered it's a problem between your wireless card and the router. Not exactly sure what happens to get everything bogged up, but some event occurs that puts that specific computer in limited mode. Given enough time, it'll correct the issue itself, or you can go into the trouble shooter and it'll go through its steps. On my computer, the only way the problem is resolved by troubleshooter is the disable/enable of the card itself. I have never had this problem occur on any other network than my home network, so I'm led to believe it is indeed a router problem.
If anybody has any specific information on this, I'd also love to hear it as I haven't been able to turn up a solution myself. -
I'd go for interference. It could be your phone, your iPad, your friends phone, your neighbors electronics. Basically anything.
The one thing I know eliminates this is basically if you use a ethernet cable (d'oh.. you know this already).
Try disabling the safety encryption (WPA etc) it might help. If it works very well as a unsecured network then yeah, weird. But it might be the cause.
A very old problem, possibly related to this (above): Windows Vista: Getting WPA/WPA2 Wifi 802.11 Security Working | Dan Matan*
Good luck, I hope I've somehow fixed a problem of yours, if not.. then I at least tried
(reply back if you want more info, I've got a bit left)
-
If it is, in fact, interference, you could also try using a network in the 5GHz band, if your router supports that. Doing so would avoid many of the most common sources of interference.
-
Anyone tried the latest Windows certified drivers for their Nvidia card? (specifically, the 675M)
Cheers! -
Thanks guys for your input. I do have 2 mobiles next to be fairly often. My partner's laptop would be fine when "limited" comes on on mine. Oh well, luckily it doesn't happen too often - around once every 3-4 days. Like you've mentioned Derek, it just requires a disable/enable action to get the card back up and running. I've reinstalled the drivers for my wireless card last night so I will monitor how it goes.
-
Hi Meaker,
What I am trying to do is actually light up 3 external monitors on the P150EM with Eyefinity, something the MSI GX60 does with the same GPU.
In the Eyefinity setup all 3 ports at the back would be used - DVI, HDMI, DP (thru active DP-DVI adaptor). I was wondering if anybody had tried this before and if it worked for them because apparently if the DVI-HDMI signal is shared, you can only light up a max of 2 external displays.
ryuu -
The key difference between these two machines is the MSI uses an AMD CPU/iGPU which has fewer limitations, the Intel HD 4000 iGPU plus whatever internal configuration is going on limits the P150EM to two monitors including internal. So if you want eyefinity on a laptop you'd need that MSI laptop or a P370EM (not sure on that one but it's not limited by optimus so should be ok)
*edit* good luck getting games to run acceptably across 3 monitors though, notebookcheck's review seems to suggest it's limited pretty badly by the CPU, to the point where Intel's cheapest core i3 would be better for games. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
You can only power two monitors at once. Two external or the internal and one external. To do 3 external you do need an adapter as Meaker mentioned. -
Dear all,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
@Hutsady: Would 3 monitors work if I got the adapter as Meaker mentioned? What about what CampGareth mentioned about the intel HD 4000 limiting the maximum number of displays to 2?

Well I just got the shipping notification on my "CyberPowerPC Xplorer-X6 9650" which is a rebadged np9150/150EM. 7970m, 16gbRAM Samsung 840 250gb SSD. I think it'll take about 10 days for it to get to me.

Congrats on the new machine! Be sure to let us know how it turns out and how your experience was. -
Hi!
How can I save the changed options on Control Center?
It only saves configuration changes if the mode select is User Defined. If it is Performance, when I star the laptop again, the configuration is the default and not mine.
