Congrats on the new build and the fast turn around time! Being in CA definitely helps out things with shipping time.

We are actually located in Lincoln, NE and as long as it ships outside of Nebraska there is no sales tax collected. That's about as far as I can discuss in terms of pricing though due to forum rules but if you wanted to shoot me an email ( you have one more post to do before you can PM but that's an option as well) with any questions on that I'd be happy to help.

It helps, but you can't get the best audio without a sound card device (like USB headphones).

    Hey Guys,

I wonder if you could help me with my problem: I'm on the market for a new laptop and basically all US-based resellers provide exellent options. However, since I live in Europe, if I go with a custom barebone from the US, any warranty-related business would have to go through the reseller in the US, right? For example, there is no MSI global warranty for an MSI barebone customized by one of these resellers - once again, is this correct? This is what I have figured from the warranty disclaimers, but maybe you know better..

I know that I can browse from a ton of European resellers, but they are considerably more expensive, and I could do the ordering and shipping from the US without the import duties and other BS through an APO address, which makes it a viable option.

I believe only the MSI retail machines come with an international warranty (1 year).

Yeah, I'm seriously considering coughing up a tad more for a branded MSI from the US. (APO shipping is merely 35-40 bucks..) In comparison they are not that expensive and I have the peace of mind with the global warranty. My only problem is that 1700-1800 is pretty much the theoretical limit for me, and the gt60-0NE only fits this with the mail-in rebate, that is certainly not an option. Oh well, looks like I'm gonna wait for some sale or something. Meaker, thanks again for your swift reply.

One quick question though, won't the shipment of the laptop battery cause some delay/problems? I know they have lifted the full-ban on the air-mailing of li-ion batteries, but some restrictions still apply.. Anyone with experience on that?

The USPS just lifted the shipping ban on Lithium batteries in November. I had no problems with having my laptop shipped to Iraq. Also, If you're looking for a laptop under $1700 the Clevo P150EM is a very great choice. Nothing against MSI laptops but they're too flashy (unless you like that sort of thing) Sager/Clevo laptops are a lot more professional looking. Attached is a side-by-side of my Clevo and my MSI. I know the new MSI laptops don't have the flashy lights but the laptop body is identical to the GT683/GT783 laptops of last generation.

Yeah, I hear you, but shipping to Europe and planning to stay here too means that I need the global warranty that a Clevo-based machine just would not give.. (By the way, take care and I hope that your notebook gives you many nice hours otherwise spent homesick and such.. I know I have re-discovered my gamer persona in Afghanistan :D )

Plus thanks about the info on the battery-shipping!

Re-discover? Can't rediscover if it was never lost my friend! Starcraft 2, League of Legends, and plenty other games on Steam have been keeping me quite entertained..also..emulators. :D For what it's worth, my laptop was $1,417 using a seller through AAFES. I can PM you with more details if you'd like.

    Word!

Sure, but being at a desk job, playing powerpoint-ranger all day, go home and stare at the monitor again is not that rewarding like sitting your a** down after an 8-hour guard duty and make some terrans run for their lives.. The unknown benefits of deployment, right? :D

I would be very grateful for the seller's info, I'll look into it.

You can get one from ebay, but it's US only. MSI really don't want them to get out. I found that a lot of replacement parts sites required your computer sserial number to even sell you one :(

Due to the fact that some resellers were selling parts in machines they should not MSI clamped down hard on them so unless you have a machine with one broken and it needs a replacement it can be very hard to get one.

Does anyone here have the NP9150 with a 680M and play League of Legends on it?

I don't know why, but I noticed a small difference in how the game runs fps-wise in comparison to my friends with similar or even worse setups. I don't know what it is, but even though the game claims to run at 60fps consistently, I've noticed a barely noticeable difference in smoothness in comparison to others running at 60fps. It doesn't hinder gameplay much at all, but it is very noticeable to me when we LAN up and I watch their screens and compare to mine. It's almost as if they are actually running at 60 fps and I'm only running at 45, even though it claims 60.

Only reason I'm even bringing this up now is because a couple day ago I started up the game and noticed that the effect I just mentioned had mysteriously vanished and the game ran smoother. My friends could barely tell the difference but to me it was like night and day. i also noticed that the game seemed sharper visually, as if before there had been an almost imperceptible ghosting effect that was now gone. However, the game reverted back to the described issue the next time I ran it. I don't know what the deal is.

    Any ideas?

It's possible that Optimus is acting up and you're running off the Intel HD4000 iGPU instead of your 680m. Have you manually set the game to run off the dedicated card in the Nvidia control panel?

well.. I got my sager on friday.... Its monday now, and I'm trying to track down what the heck is wrong with it. I installed Win8, and have had nothing but problems with the install, with the keyboard missing strokes, and the Fan for the GPU not turning on, causing it to shutdown and thermal..... all at desktop --- i actually have a burn on my hand from the thing. Right now, i am on it, and i'm having to go back and find missing letters when i've typed.. I'm also forced to Fn+1 the fans to FULL SPEED in order to keep the damn GPU from thermal shutdown.. I'm planning on blowing out the Win8 install ina few minutes, once i get my documents and settings that I need back, and reinstalling. I'll say one thing -- I havent tried Tech Support with Xotic yet, as i've been busy with other things, and have been working on this Off and On for the last few hours. If this doesnt fix it, I'm totally going to give them a call (unless anyone else has a better idea) and hopefully track down the issue. If not -- this thing is going back from whence it came....

Does anyone know where i can get the latest update for the 7970m with the np9150? I'm running the stock drivers Sager gave me when I first got the computer. Sager's site doesn't show anything new either.

hey guys, i posted a while back about my problems with wireless and well here i am again (posting now cuz i was on wired before and i didnt want to tackle the issue at the time, but I have to now). I tried using atheros drivers, but im still getting disconnected from my games, unless im using the wrong drivers, I got it from here: Atheros & Zidas drivers, 2nd last one. Max temps when gaming are in the low 90's. Should I RMA it? or is there something else i can do here.

Have you installed all the drivers yourself?

Did you install amd drivers from clevo first?

I had trouble with my computer going max temp before I got the right drivers working.

My solution was getting the ones from clevo first, then installing the latest amd drivers over that.

Derek and sistergodiva --- Looks like a strange anomaly... i went and reinstalled Win8 ... but reset the bios, and configured it to not be Win 8 (left the OS type as OTHERS) -- and during the install, allowed Win8 to install the drivers it wanted by itself. I then updated all the drivers via what Sager has on their website EXCEPT: Intel Chipset, NVIDIA, Killer Wireless, Intel RST, Realtek Audio, and Synaptics Touchpad. For the ones i Just mentioned, I installed the brand new 314.07 nvidias, grabbed the rest from Station-drivers... wound up using the 11.5.12 Intel RST's. The one thing I did leave Windows update stock was the Intel video drivers.
I also didnt install the Intel Management Engine stuff that I installed the first time either.

Now, on a side note --- and this might help people who game with the touchpad like I do (only when i am being lazy and in bed)... in the synaptics driver configuration for the touchpad (not the touchpad buttons) the palm sensitivity setting is listed under SMART SENSE --- turn that down to one click above OFF, and turn off all the rest of the options in that page.
I also turned off Gestures and enabled Scrolling and also left Tapping enabled.

My impressions, other than my mild hiccup posted earlier, are quite positive... The machine feels SOLID. It also seems VERY well put together. The keyboard is really nice, almost feels as nice as a mechanical keyboard (though i am still adjusting to it, its going to take a while after having a worn out keyboard on my old dell). The backlighting is pretty decent as well... with the minor exception of the Fn key -- it isnt lighted too well, and does look kinda Dorky (as someone else had mentioned previously).
The machine is PLENTY fast. the 675MX, now that i got whatever Win8 bug kicked out) runs VERY cool. Its Idling at about 36*c which is really REALLY nice. The one thing you DO have to do, is set up the profiles for each game you want to play in the Nvidia Control Panel. Its something that I was already doing on my desktop computer, and tested it both ways on the laptop, and things look outstanding when you do that yourself.
I upgraded to the not special Matte screen.. and This matte screen is SUPER nice! The colors are nice, the clarity of everything is amazing.
The speakers arent too bad... they're a bit better than the stock ones on my old Dell m6300. I havent tried the headphone jack yet -- but it is what it is... the Dell had a horrible static crackle to it, and I cant imagine this one being any worse. I use a USB headset for chat, and listening to music anyways. And if i ever decide that isnt enough, i'll pick up a decent usb hoojie card for sound.

Now, I am assuming my previous issues are related to the immaturity of the drivers for Win8, and Win8's own immaturity. Which actually makes sense. I'm glad I was able to "figure it out" without having to call the tech support for something this .. well.. silly. I'm happy it wasn't the hardware itself, and i am 100% convinced everything would have been fine had I jsut installed Win7 from the get go. but then again, I am happy with Win8 on my desktop, and figured why the hell not do it on the new laptop.

I am jsut glad there is Derek's (and an Xotic) presence here, as well as the other resellers, and a great community of people who will help when needed.

Derek -- I will either Email you or Call you about what you might think about the machine thermally shutting down, whether that is BAD news for a brandie new laptop, when i get a chance. I've got Daddy Day Care duties, and might be able to get a call or email in later when he takes a nap.

YAY Sager... YAY XoticPC, YAY NEW LAPTOP!!!

Hey all, I've had issues regarding my backlit keyboard. The keys that open up the program no longer work and the keys just change colors whenever they feel like it. If I press down on the left shift key hard it changes colors, so I think the wiring is messed up. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks.

You can take it apart to take a look if comfortable doing so. Just pop off the speaker grill then you'll see 5 screws. Undo those and lift up and out to clear the plastic tabs which hold it in on the bottom. Unplug and plug back in the cables to make sure the connection is secure. And of course turn your computer off before doing this.

Yah that whole top area. You just need to give it some pressure and it will pop up, do be careful though as any damage wont be covered under warranty.

Amazing! just ordered my NP9150 with xoticpc on 02/18/13, received confirmation on 02/19/13 and it's out for shipping on 02/21/13 from california.

I only upgraded the screen and ram.

If roland from xotic had anything to do with this, thanks alot! Hopefully you know who this is!

I'm so very excited for the arrival of my new laptop!

I've tried that and that doesn't seem to resolve the issue. Really not sure what else to try at this point

Did you do the global settings or did you manually assign that game .exe file to run on the dedicated? It's not necessary for every game but some still have an issue with doing so.

That'll be awesome of you to do that. When I tried to contact xotic through live chat the second time, I am 100% certain that I was connected to you. But I clicked exit chat on accident cause my mouse was over the button while waiting. When I began to type after being connected my thumb slid over the trackpad to click exit :(

And I just realized that the laptop was actually picked up at 5pm on the 20th! Shipped in two days, so excited for the arrival.
