Hi guys,
I'm new to these forums but seeing how I have ordered one of these brilliant Sager NP9130's, I decided to chime in. So far the people at XoticPC have been extremely helpful and are very apt to give me information when I need it. About 10 years ago, I bought a PC from IBuyPower and they were just horrible. They sounded annoyed with questions and never really like to answer them. So thus far, Roland and Melissa from XoticPC have been brilliant!
I do have a quick question for anyone who has ordered a Sager in the past month or so, how long did the build process take?
Just wondering because I just got back off of spring break and my programming classes are now getting more difficult and could really use a portable not taker (ipads work great for math and science notes, but not so good for programming noted). Thanks for any info provided in advance.

Glad to hear Roland and Melissa have been taking good care of you, they dont frequent NBR though.
Sagers average build time has been 6-10 business days however if you've ordered a NP9130 there is going to be an extended wait on it. Sager is currently out of them with more expected on 3-22. Once they are back in stock then production can begin but we do have to wait for more stock to arrive. -
Would it be faster if I upgraded my laptop a little to the NP9150 or something? I know you guys aren't allowed to talk about certain things, but I would gladly upgrade to get it quicker. Thanks again for the help!

Hey guys, just joined to forum and wanted to say that everyone that posts here helped me decide to buy a 9130. I wanted to give my thanks here to Hutsady @ Xotic Pc for making the order process pleasant and easy. I'm on a 3 year old HP Dv7 with an AMD Turion 2 and HD 4200 so I'm pretty excited for this Sager. Can't wait to get it!

Guys, please, help me out...I've googled this issue with no real solutions to exactly what I have in mind. I've seen this phrase in technical specs a lot of times...
"Dual-View capable Supports two different applications open at one time; one on the External Monitor, and one on the Laptop Screen. Multi-tasking has never been more convenient."
How do I do that on my Sager NP9130? I want to run...say SSFIV:AE on my external monitor and then run...say my browser on my laptop monitor, simultaneously! I don't want the game to minimize when I click my browser window. Please how do I make this happen? -

Prema Mod BIOS now available for this model.
ENJOY! :hi2: -
Would appreciate it if there are reviews on that. -
Hi Guys,
this is my first post!
I just bought a used 9130 (HUGE step up from my crappy dell inspiron)
I was wondering - if I post my hardware could you guys tell me what upgrades i may be able to do as far a processor etc?
I figure you 9130 gurus might me able to tell from the specs. I assume the I7 is second gen and so it may not be compatable with 3rd gen i7, however there may be a faster second gen avalable etc.
Sandy Bridge i7-2670m running at 2.2GHz, can go up to 3.1GHz (6MB cache)
15.6 inch LED screen, 1080p (HD 1920x1080)
Geforce 670m 1.5GB DDR5 Graphics cards
8GB DDR3 Ram
500GB 7200PRM
802.11 B/G/N Wireless with Bluetooth
Integrated webcam with mics, fingerprint reader, HDMI and DVI , SD card reader, 2 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0, headphone Ports, mini firewire 1394, Express Card Slot.
any info on whether I can add memory to the Graphics card and what is the fastest i7 I can drop in it would especially be appreciated.
Thanks! -

Your system will be compatible with i7 3rd gen but the TDP rating will limit you to the fastest being the 3840qm. Not much use going up to that point though and the best bang for the buck will be the 3740qm and then OC'ing via XTU.
As far as the Vram, you're stuck with what's on the board, can't add more to it. You could bump up to a 670mx though which is a 3gb GPU. Vram won't play a huge role in game performance though so if that's what you're basing the choice off of, may not be necessary except for the increased performance the MX card provides. -
Thank you, that is exactly the kind of info i was seeking!
I am amazed by this machine. Battlefield Vietnam ( an OLD favorite) run smooth as silk at max settings, Minecraft Feed The Beast is child's play for it and even the Witcher 2 blazes on it. Can't wait to wade into some of the great games I could never play due to low performance machines in my past. Could you tell me what Ram I would be looking for if I wanted to max it at 16 gigs (window 7 mome premium limit)? -

Hi guys, new member here. First time post
I've been looking at getting a new gaming laptop and came across the Clevo / Metabox P151EM1 ( Metabox P151EM1 overview - Gaming Enthusiast and 3D Design Laptop)
The particular model I was looking at is the P151EM1B with the following configuration:
Processor: Intel Ivy Bridge i7-3630QM 2.4-3.4Ghz Turbo
RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz
Hard Drive 1: Plextor M5M 128GB SSD mSATA (540/320 Mbs)
Hard Drive 2: 750GB 7200rpm Hard Disk Drive
Optical Drive: Bluray Reader / DVD Burner Combo
Screen: 15.6-inch Full HD LED 95% GAMUT MATTE BACKLIT (1920x1080)
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce GTX670M 1.5GB GDDR5 Dedicated Graphics (DX11)
Networking: Standard 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth
Power Supply: 120 Watt Genuine Power Supply
Keyboard: Standard Australian English Keyboard
Other Features: 3x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, E-SATA, HDMI, DVI. THX TruStudio Pro Surround Sound & Subwoofer. 2.0mp Webcam, Onkyo Speakers, nVidia Optimus Technology v1.2
Condition: Brand New in Box with 8 Cell Battery
Warranty: 3 Year RTB Warranty + 90 Day 100% Pixel Guarantee
TOTAL: $1,386 AUD (+Shipping)
There are options however to upgrade the graphics card and the wireless/bluetooth with the following options:
nVidia GeForce GTX670MX 3GB GDDR5 Dedicated Graphics (DX11) [+$149 AUD]
Intel Advanced-N 6235 Wireless Card + Bluetooth v4 [+$49 AUD]
Intel Ultimate 6300 Wireless Card (No Bluetooth) [+$99 AUD]
Bigfoot Killer N 1103 Wireless Card (No Bluetooth) [+$129 AUD]
Now for my questions...
1.) Is 15.6" screen going to be too small for a Full HD 1920x1080 resolution? I would think 17" would be the minimum?
2.) Should I stick with the Geforce GTX670M 1.5GB or upgrade to the Geforce GTX670MX 3GB for an extra $149? I'm not sure if the performance improvement from the MX is worth the extra $150 – anyone know?
3.) Should I stick with the "standard" wireless + bluetooth (I'm assuming its at least Wireless-N?) or upgrade to one of the other more expensive options? I dont really see the point paying extra if the "standard" is Wirelss N + Bluetooth? What advantages do these other more expensive options have over the "standard" wireless + bluetooth?
Thanks guys -
CQBMan,
1. Typically you won't have an issue with things being too small with high resolutions on smaller displays. Windows, and I'm sure other operating systems, have good DPI controls that automatically adjust and can be manually changed. It definitely should not hinder you in gaming, graphics design, or whatever else.
2. I wouldn't say the 670MX is worth that upgrade cost from the performance differences. However, you should check out XoticPC's (and other distributors) free upgrade to the 670MX if the international shipping costs and any other taxes you may have to pay ends up to be cheaper (I believe the US keyboard should not be different from the AU one either).
3. Yeah, the default should be 802.11 b/g/n. I've never had any issues with stock wireless, but if you have any personal problems with the quality, speed, or drivers, it may be worth the extra money. The upgrade options will give you access to newer technologies like Bluetooth 4 (compared to stock BT3.0 which is still pretty standard), inter-device connectivity options, faster speeds if your router and provider supports it, and such.
Anyways, I'm looking to pick up a Sager notebook soon likely from XoticPC. I'm rather busy at the moment though and have no issues with my current desktop replacement, so I'm wondering when the latest time to take advantage of the current gen prices would be. Because I'm assuming the next generation (P151SM/P150SM) will be bumped up in price compared to what they are now. Thanks. -
1.) Warranty: Warranty usually isn't "international" and so if I do have a warranty issue, I'd have to pay postage there and back again, not to mention the longer postage times.
2.) Power Issues: The US uses a different power system to us (120volts vs our 240volts) not to mention different wall-socket plugs.
3.) Shipping: The shipping costs for something like a laptop from the US to Australia would be pretty high I would imagine. And could be a bit risky with how fragile the laptop and its components are- so unless its properly packed and padded and handled with care, I don't want to risk getting a DOA or otherwise "damaged" product. Especially considering I'd have to pay shipping again to send it back to get fixed/replaced.

Hi i just got my sager np9130. im really enjoying using it. great laptop. im wondering if anyone applied a screen protector on your np9130. is it okay to put a clear screen protector on top of the matte screen? will it affect viewing angles or reflections? hope to hear your answers thanks!
-
It's been a while since I applied a matte screen projector over the display, so I can't make the comparison to what it was like before. Personally I feel that the screen looks as good as it was without the screen projector. If you need tips on how to apply just ask.

I used to use screen protectors on my laptops, phones, and such until I realized how absurd it is. As long as your mildly careful, there shouldn't be much reason for the screen to get scratched or scuffed. As for keeping it clean, I imagine you're referring to fingerprints or dust. Fingerprints can be easily cleaned with some cleaning alcohol or water but more easily prevented by opening and closing the lid by holding the bezel, keeping your hands decently clean, and not making a habit of touching the display otherwise. I find that I get far more fingerprints on the back lid than I ever do on the display itself with notebooks that have glossy lids, anyways.
But if you're really intent on using protectors as I had been, probably due to the brainwashing marketing that sells protectors and cases to people who don't need it, I have used clear protectors on matte and glossy displays alike. You likely won't have any issue with clarity, because that's typically associated with matte protectors on other displays. But I did notice with the protector I used for a matte display that it did reflect glare a bit more, which matte screens are otherwise pretty good at diffusing out. -

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of getting the P151SM1 which doesn't seem too different from this one, since the Clevo models this generation are pretty much carbon copies of their previous gen counterparts. I have found it very difficult to ascertain what the battery life on this laptop is, can any give me some input? The page on Xotic says 2+ hours which seems really low considering this has Optimus. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It will be a bit longer than the 151em.

No one has done detailed power comparisons yet, though haswell does improve idle power numbers which will help web browsing figures.

Just bought a horize P151EM1B (basically a clevo assembled by another company). Two problems :
1.Every few minutes the cpu fan will rev up to a high speed, then down again after a few seconds. It doesn't seem capable of maintaining a low steady speed and is MUCH noisier than my old lenovo laptop. CPU cores are 40-45 degrees on average. This happens even when doing just web browsing.
2.GPU fan gets insanely loud when running any 3d applicatio, temps at 49 degrees under load (according to gpu-z).
I realise the fans are supposed to increase speed to prevent overheating, but there's no overheating here and they are pretty loud. Any idea what's going on here? The noise level is driving me nuts....great laptop and built quality, but the noise is crazy.
CPU is a Intel Ivy Bridge i7-3630QM 2.4-3.4Ghz Turbo and the GPU is a GTX 670MX. -
Guys, Please, I need some help with this.
I'm experiencing a challenge for the 2nd time. Games don't run with my 670M, no matter how I force it to. It always runs using the Intel 4000
The first time this happened, I reinstalled my Nvidia drivers and that fixed it. But I don't know what is causing it. Is there an alternative fix to reinstalling my drivers?
Thank you. -

I think what caused this was because I put the computer to sleep while a game was minimized. I'm not so sure this is the cause though. But I can't think of anything else. -
Normally the standard fix if your dedicated gpu isn't being used is to specify it manually in the nvidia control panel. although if it happens and you have a custom d3d9.dll in your game folder you may want to look up optimus fix on the skyrim nexus.
Anyone Over Clocked their GPU? mines a Nvidia GTX 670MX and gets a 4729 total and 4532 gpu score on 3dmark with 940+ Memory and 131+ core using nvidia Inspector, temps peak at 71*C. Not sure how people are getting 6000's with similar specs but the oc has given me a 5-10fps increase in skyrim so not complaining. -
I got mine around feb from lpc digital and it cost 1500 with shipping so unless you're sold on the warranty issues I would go somewhere else if your also paying for shipping and a less powerful gpu, I can play skyrim on ultra settings and get about 31fps 60 in doors, but you start adding texture pack and visual mods and you drop about 5-10fps, with tweaks and overclocking though I'm up to 35-45fps.

So, is there any word yet on the possibility of upgrading it with the Nvidia Geforce GTX 770M?

Sorry, got here through a google link. The FAQ addressed most of my concerns except the power supply. Just wondering if it's possible to use the 180w brick on the 9130 or not. I found a sweet deal on one, but I'd like to be able to upgrade the gpu in the future.
-
The GTX 770M uses the same amount of energy as the GTX 670MX according to notebookcheck, so what would be the limitation? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
-
So the issues are the BIOS and higher TDP rating from what you remember.
I thought the P151SM1 and the P151EM1 had the same heat dissipation capabilities, from what I have seen they seem to have the same fan sizes, heat sinks, and air input and exits, all positioned the same way in the motherboard. Did I get it wrong? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's the same issue as stopping the EM series in general running the 770M or 780M.
-
I thought the graphics card wasn't the issue there... -
hey, does anyone know if i can upgrade my i5 2450m to an i7 3720QM, it said it was one of the available upgrades in the manual, i am just really looking for some guidance on how to approach/do this

No, you won't need anything of the kind.

Temps over 90ºC in the processor are bad right?
I was getting some freezing while watching a 1080p video on youtube and when I checked the temp it was over 94ºC, with the maximum reaching 98ºC.
That means it is time to repaste right? -

so ifi wanted to put a 770m to replace my 670m would i be able to just take out my 670m, and put the 770 in considering they are both 75 watts?
