Dunno if it depends.. I am now test running 670mx in np9130 AND my clocks are at 1080/[email protected]. Calculated TDP is way above 160W. My current bottleneck is PSU, but Delta 240w is on the way.

I doubt its 160W lol, not with that many shaders and ROPs dissabled, will be more along the lines of 130-140W.

No reseller is going to give anything like that a greenlight as safe, it's simply not tested, any testing or faults are entirely off your own backs.

It was just a test and TDP was calculated by only online calculator i found. But the temps on 100% fan were around 75 degrees.

edit: here is the formula, dont know if it is possible to use it to calculate TDP of GPU - OC Wattage = TDP * ( OC MHz / Stock MHz) * ( OC Vcore / Stock Vcore )^2

That assumes the card uses it's rated TDP.

i've been getting BSOD after putting this baby to sleep for a couple days now, it happens about 15 minutes after sleep. the failed code is
    DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

now, i dont like bsod, as i'm sure many of you can agree it's unsettling getting a bsod. so does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello everyone, I seem to be having somewhat of a situation with my np9130. While i was using it today, I heard a loud grinding and a click emanate from the fan on the right side of the computer (I believe this is the GPU fan? Its the left fan when the computer is upside down.) Shortly after this, my capslock and numlock indicators began to flash in unison, after that, the laptop shut itself off. Upon restarting it, the lights continued to flash, with the addition of a loud constant beeping, after which it turned off again.
I figured this is now a problem with the fan, so i opened the bottom cover, and turned it on to see if the fans are spinning, neither of fans spin on startup, HOWEVER, if I press FN+1, both fans will function properly, albeit at maximum speed, and the computer doesnt shut itself off. Does anyone know what could have gone wrong here? I would rather not use my laptop with the fan maxed out at all times. I will appreciate any input.

That is very odd, have you tried doing an EC reset by removing the battery and AC?

Has anyone had this problem? My touchpad has lost is matte finish and is rubbing away. Sometimes when i use the touchpad it doesn't even work now. Is this something i can replace? Who would i contact for a new part? I'm a little disappointed i paid this much for a laptop and in just around a year this is how bad it is.

Definitely can happen with heavy use. Best bet would be your reseller for replacement parts, otherwise you can contact Sager directly.

Contact the shop you got it from as you should have got a disk and liscence sticker.

There are legal downloads of windows 7 isos too.

So, the P151SM1 can handle both the 770M (uses 75W) and the 860M (50W) Geforce GPUs.
So the P151EM1 should be able to handle the same...

But Eurocom is saying that the P151EM1 can take 100W GPUs too? (See Post 874)

If that is true it is great! I wish they were selling Geforce 800M Series Kits for P150EM and P151EM1 already...

The 7 series cards are not currently working in the EM and earlier machines, the 8 series is as yet untested.

Hmmm... Any idea why the 700 series doesn't work on it?
Eurocom seems to be selling both AMD HD8970M and Geforce GTX 680M Upgrade Kits to the EM machines (P151EM1 included) at least, so the TDP 100W seem to not be an issue to upgrade the P151EM1...

And on another subject, do I have to upgrade the BIOS and EC of my Sager NP9130 if I want to install the Windows 8.1?
PS: I still have the Windows 7 in it.

    System bios incomparability.

The EM is not officially rated to take 100W cards, some have but there has been no testing on the long term capability so it's up to you to decide.

The OS is bios and EC agnostic.

Ok, I asked because in the list of BIOS and EC versions for the P151EM1 that are available for download here in the forum, it mentions "Support Widnows 7 and Windows 8" in the list of changes of one of the versions.

    Hi everyone!

Does anyone know if its possible to change the GPU in the Sager NP9130? I would like to change my GTX 670M to a kepler based card, because it doesn't support the Nvidia shadow play feature which is a great disappointment to me.

    Thanks.

Officially that's a non upgradable model. I seem to recall though that the model did support the 670mx as well though. Might want to contact your reseller directly to look into that for you.

    Hey all,

Booted up my laptop tonight and I am hearing some strange noises from the CPU fan. The fan is working, but I'm not sure if it's working as it should. I have no data on what is the average heat of the NP9130 running a i7-3630q, and the CPU temperatures on my 4 cores go from 50c (usually the temperature when there's nothing demanding going on) and 80c (when there's something like a game running) and usually averaging at 70c. I'm aware that the maximum temperature is in the 100cs and that anything under that is not bad, but I'm concerned that this CPU fan problem is not limited to making weird noises.

    Any advice?

Has anyone had any issues connecting their pc to a tv monitor via a hdmi cable? I'm using Windows 7. When I connect the pc and tv, I get nothing. I've tried to mess with the display settings, but nothing happens :(

    Few suggestions:

    Try a different HDMI cable
    Try a different display
Swap what end you're connecting between the display and source.
Try doing a clean install of updated drivers

If none of Derek's suggestions work, you can also try making sure the HDMI is plugged in before turning the computer on.

Hi all. I have a couple of questions.

I have a P151EM1 laptop, but plugging it in I got some pops and a burning smell. Now I need a new motherboard. Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement HM77 or whether I can put the HM87 in instead and still keep my GTX670mx? If you have one for sale or know what I can upgrade to, send me a PM.

Also since my P151EM1 died, I just picked up a P150SM-A (Sager NP8268-S). I haven't received yet, but the two computers look similar. Will my power supply and battery from the P151EM1 work in the P150SM-A?

    Thanks!

You want to plug a power supply that may have killed your old motherboard into your brand new machine?

    Contact your reseller for parts.

Sigh. No. The power supply I was using at the time was an aftermarket one I was using, not my original power supply... The one that caused the problem is in the trash.

I took out the mother board and see three little exploded chips. I can't get the numbers off of them. Does anyone have pictures of their motherboard? If all it needs is a couple bucks in parts and soldering, I'd rather try that first before I buy a whole new board.

If it has blown several chips there is no telling what invisible damage has been done to the rest.

    I could use anyone's help.

I have an NP9130 and my power adapter recently died. I want to buy a new one (in store, preferably).

Will one of these be OK for my unit? FRYS.com | F.C.S.

If these don't work, does anyone have any suggestions of placing where I can pick this up in store?

Meaker, I know. It would be a project and it may or may not work. If it does, great. If it doesn't, it doesn't matter because the new laptop is on the way.

But my questions still remain. Does anyone know if the battery and power brick that came with the p151em1 work with the p150sm-a?

Yes and no, the 151 comes with a lower rated brick so it will plug in but can not power the system reliably at full pelt. It could be used if you do not power up the gpu though i suppose.

You could try to check the P151EM1's Service Manual and see if you can figure out what were the components, you can find the service manuals in Prema´s bios mods website.

The problem is that 3rd party no name bricks rarely actually meet safety regulations or FCC regulations for noise. You need to look for a brick made by the likes of delta electronics/FSP/flextronics etc.

    Example:

    OEM Asus Delta 120W AC Adapter for Asus Z81K N80Vc N80Vn N81VG N81Vp N90SV W90 | eBay

This is in no way an endorsement of that listing or that seller, it is for example purposes only. The picture is the type of thing you are looking for, if the listing is actually the exact part they claim then you are best checking via messaging. How quick they respond is a good test of the seller usually.

There are fake liteon bricks out there so I could not say.

At 120W there are 3rd party named alternatives out there from the likes of coolermaster which have to meet safety regulations.

It's a sad state of affairs with bricks, manufacturers charge a bit too much for replacements so you get this grey market opening up of cheap and dangerous knock offs.

Its never recommended to update the system BIOS if you aren't having issues since you can brick the system.

Clevo generally stops driver support on end of life machines, what driver do you want to update?

Sager stopped updating drivers in 2012 - http://www2.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/download.cfm?ProductType=9130

    Thank you for the info
i'm interested in updating bios only if i have some benefits from it (not overclocking)
i see that intel have application for instaling best drivers for chipset, Intel Management Engine Interface... (i download NVIDIA newest drivers from their website) so i suppose that is the best option for acquire best and newest drivers.
Guy from xoticPC told me: If it's the Clevo branded P151EM1 then Clevo's site is best, If it's a Sager NP9130, Sager's site is better. http://www.sagernotebook.com/drivers.php?cat=556

i'm interested in buying SSD something like (SSD Kingston mS200 mSATA3 60GB)
Because my i7-3610QM is ivy is it better to use SSD as cache?

    tnx
