Always good to post what solved it in case others run into your issue

its a bit embarassing, but I didnt notice a jutting screw that kept the caddy from going in all the way. 12.7mm btw

I have a little problem which I can live with, but would like to fix. On my keyboard, the controls for the keyboard backlight such as Fn+ - or Fn + + or Fn + / Dont work. They do nothing. They dont turn off the backlight, nor turn it on, or launch the keyboard backlight app. Also they hotkey app doesnt open up when i double click it. It launches minimized and doesnt show up when i click on it. I can live with it since the other keyboad shortcuts work and if i want to change the keyboard color i can do it by going to program files and searching for the keyboard backlight app.
I think this doesnt work because its not compatible with with Windows 7, which is the one im using.
Please correct me if im wrong. -

Did you download the right version for Windows 7 pil? -
Im using the one that came with the driver discs, since my retailer, hawkforce.de doesnt have a driver section... any ideas?

There should be no problem with Windows 7. You can try the ones Sager has posted, they should still work on your system custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks

hehehey worked perfect as hell
thank you very much Hutsady!!

I got Sager NP8265 (P150SM) recently with a 8970M AMD card.
It came with a 180W power supply - is that enough if I'm stressing it? I haven't tested it at max yet. I saw a thread talking about getting 220Ws.
Also, any recommendations for a light power supply for travel? Or at least thinner? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There are no good 3rd party options capable of powering the machine at full load.
The 220W bricks use a different connector for the 17 inch models.
Some have suggested using an adapter cable and I have modded my own power supplies by replacing the cable. -
180 watts is enough if you are not over clocking. I believe htwingnut's review thread on the NP8250 talks about the wattage limit, and mentions how he modified a power supply to give it 220 watts. I can look for it later if you can't find it.

You can replace the cable on any brick that supplies the right voltage. Of course this kills you warranty stone dead.

Hi guys!
About a month ago, I purchased a Sager NP8255, installed Win 7 x64, and all the drivers. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that when the laptop wakes up from sleepmode, it sometimes freezes on the waking up screen (the screen with the Win logo), sometimes at the beginning of the animation, sometime a little bit into it. At that point, it no longer responds to any keys and I can only long-press the power button to get anywhere. If I tell it to remove the cache and boot from scratch, it boots easily; if i tell it to try and wake up again, there is a chance that it wakes up alright, and there is a chance that it will freeze again. The same thing happens with hibernation. It's worth noting that after a fresh bootup, if i put it to sleep, it wakes up fine.
I read somewhere that there might be a problem with the video drivers, so I re-installed those. I duno what else to do and am wondering if you guys could recommend something. -
Could this be because of the Haswell bug when waking the pc?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The intel bug simply stops the USB3 ports from operating after sleep.
-
I thought that it was just that USB3 devices connected before sleep wouldn't be recognized when awakened but disconnecting/reconnecting would allow them to be recognized again... not really great for external storage I imagine, unless they do a sync before sleep...
Not waking up? Variation of maybe going into hibernation bug? Although from what I've read the hibernate bug doesn't seem to get that far when "awoken"... (I decided to just disable hibernate for windows on my notebooks upon reading that... too much of a PITA to deal with when the nbs boot in second anyways...) -
Man, waiting for my 157sm, is just killing me. But I do have to say that the team (might be just one person, I don't know) at Mythlogic has been great about responding to any questions I have.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Hibernating is just fine actually, it's just a sleep state bug and yes reconnecting the device will wake the port up again.

Which re-seller is the best(support, price, service etc) for P157SM or P150SM ?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'd check out the reseller experience sub forum in the sager/clevo section.
-
However, while looking for other information I did come across multiple mentions of notebooks failing to come out of hibernation properly, behaving almost as if bricked, and as I mentioned even with a mechanical hdd a boot takes seconds, and in my case all of my nbs now have ssd so it seconds to boot and to a fully functioning desktop, hdd takes a bit longer from login to loading everything at loging time/desktop but it's still plenty quick enough for me, and realistically probably just as fast as emerging from hibernate. The only benefit to hibernate would be currently running apps/whatever would just be there again v. starting "fresh". -
Can you guys say what AHCI driver you are using please? I'm having problems with my SSD and am trying to narrow down if its the laptop or msata.

So I just got my P150SM with no OS installed. Installed windows 7 but the Win 7 driver discs did not include the intel chipset drivers and other stuff like touchpad/keyboard drivers. Can I use the P150EM's windows 7 drivers from clevo website? I don't really want to force myself to windows 8, atleast not right now.
-
Cavell, what msata problems are you having? My new P150SM (mobo v3.5A) has (1) of the msata ports not working with a Mushkin 240g drive, but the same drive works in the msata port below the 2.5" drive bay.

Yay my 157sm should be shipped today. how do i put the specs for it in my sig?
-

You need 5 posts to make a sig.

here's what I posted to the 7330 thread after stabilizing temps, c. 5m of a 15m run 1920x780 no AA
GT725 was a weird beast, good stress resp. but ty crapalyst drivers hamstrung it into flaking out in very speciufic conditions, along with the WELL known video playback problems(issues are for fags, problems are for real people)...
[EDIT]
8250-s was @ 105% TDP, rest didn't disp that although admittedly I phailed to run gpu-z/etc. sympathetically monitoring...
[/EDIT] -
whats the difference between the 157sm and 150sm? which one has better cooling because I might OC the graphic card.
-
157 has one more 7mm 2.5" hard drive slot and somewhat different styling compared to the standard 150. -
The problem is the slot not under the HDD bay never shuts off. When I put the laptop to sleep the red activity light goes solid and the drive becomes insanely hot to the touch because it is in a never ending read/write stage for some reason.

They want the machine back...All I can guess is to replace the mobo. There has been no "technical support" given from NP or Sager, perhaps because they know there is a problem with that slot, I was hoping a bios fix could avoid the trauma of bouncing this machine all the way back to sager... -
Anyone know how to get a BIOS update?
Since upgrading to windows 8.1 my computer is sluggish (graphic demanding apps especially) -
I have heard some get better results by not upgrade to Windows 8.1, but instead just to install it instead. I would expect new bios sometime as they need to fix the secure boot issues. Mythlogic has confirmed they are working on bios for haswell and ivy bridge models.
-
AirplaneMode Miniport Driver HID doesn't work on Windows 8.1.
Secure Boot works for me: XMG P503.
Updated MEI FW from station drivers, check it if you have the latest: Station-Drivers - Intel (Chipset) -

Hey guys I just received my P150SM from the mail. I installed windows 7, put in the clevo win7 drivers disc and it doesn't have the intel chipset and video driver? They also gave me windows 8 drivers but I don't want to move to win 8 right now. Where do I get the chipset/video drivers?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Intel.com for the chipset, the GPU drivers from nvidia or AMD depending on the brand.
-
does anyone know how to make the font on webpages larger? with out having to just turn the zoom up to 125% on each individual page?
-
Depends on the web browser. But usually you can go in and set default text size, and/or a zoom level. Which browser?
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
There is an option in the acessibility/ease of access settings that will let you adjust the size of elements on the screen. It wouldn't only affect the browser though, everything on the machine. The browser itself will typically have options to do so if you go into the settings. In Chrome it's under the Settings > Advanced Settings > Web Content
-
that web content thing the text doesn't change size no matter what page I go to. it does change the chrome page's text buy not web pages. ohh and I use google chrome
-
On the web content page, adjust the page zoom. https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/96810?hl=en
-
thanks I was not useing the zoom function I was just chosing font size which does pretty much nothing for web pages.
-
Yea, font size doesn't work all web sites. For example, flash sites, or ones that have text in images will ignore the font size.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well text in images is totally fixed since it's not really text.
