What do people here think of Mythlogic? I know they are a fair amount more expensive than sager resellers. but I don't read alot about people having to send there's back to them like they do with sager.

I thought the old version would not run the second msata drive at all raid or not. I could be wrong though and I am sure someone will correct me

The old version could run some drives in the second msata bay. So some sellers said it couldn't at all, and others said it could as long as you used one from thier approved list. I wouldn't recomend raid with SSDs though for several reasons. First, it doesn't increase performance much. Second, if you want a bigger drive, just buy one bigger drive. You cost per GB is much better when you hit 500gb and above. Performance is better with one drive.

Mythlogic is a custom builder. So if you want more options than the basic Sagers, or want different colors or designs, then this is where Mythlogic shines. The price for this tends to be higher, as is nkrmal for custom. The basic Sagers still have lots of options. Mythlogic has a good rep.

As for Xtremecomputers, they only have one review on resellerratings. Xtremecomputers.net Reviews - xtremecomputers.net Ratings at ResellerRatings Who knows if the review is real or not...

Have a question to put to the group: After lurking around here for awhile, I decided to take the plunge and order a p150sm from Mythlogic ( Pollux 1613 Black). It came in yesterday and I'm quite happy with it (as well as with the service from Mythlogic - including advice and hand-holding as I went through and decided on the configuration I wanted).

The only issue I've experienced thus far is with the backlit keyboard. As in, the left zone doesn't work. At all. When I boot up the machine it lights up in the default blue along with the other two zones, but as soon as Windows loads (I'm running Win7 Pro), the keyboard switches to my custom configuration and the left section cuts out entirely. After reading about keyboard backlighting issues around here, I tried downloading the latest Hot Key Utility (7.0026, this machine is running 7.0020). Downloaded the latest version from Sager's website and tried to install it, but it gave me an error that says "Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Users\Michael\Downloads\7.0026\Hotkey 7.0020.msi." This was followed by another box that said "Feature transfer error: Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."

I also tried downloading a different backlight controller application. No dice. The application works exactly as it's supposed to. The left zone of the keyboard doesn't.

The guys at Mythlogic are looking for a solution for me, but I wanted to put it to the room and see if anyone here has experienced anything similar and/or has any ideas about how to get my keyboard working again. Thanks!

    Hi,

Im wondering where my last HDD bay is, as I cant find it.

I currently have one SSD beneath my Optical drive, one in the middle. Apparently there is a spot for one last HDD, and I can switch my Optical for an additional Caddy.
    Im running a Clevo P517SM(gtx 780m)

    Thanks in advance.

I think there was a few drives that worked, but Raid is out of the question. I don't think that's possible with that board revision.

So monday my brand spanking new p157sm should be in the mail. Bought from mysn.de so it's actually an XMG P503 model , I think. I ordered it with a qwerty keyboard, hope they didn't forget to put one as I can't stand the german layout.

ok so this is the system I placed and order for from mythlogic today. I still have a day or 2 to change it so if anyone can make a good case for going with the 4800 cpu over the 4900 one with the bigger cache. that would save me 211 bucks. I just figured that sense everyone is telling me that for photoshop I want the best processor I can afford and that is it.b also this is costing 49 bucks less than the exact setup from xotic pc.

As long as you are not locked in CUDA, the GCN card is usually much faster for video/picture editing.

So I got the laptop this morning.

It's not branded at all. Even though I know for a fact it was bought from mysn.de, it is not branded at all. No logo, no touchpad lights, no nothing, nothing on the box etc. The only logo I see is when booting up a style note pops up.

Other than that I got no clue where do I get my drivers from :)

For the time being, because I thought that it will be an XMG (mysn.de brand) I downloaded and used those drivers.

Nvidia installed latest drivers, intel gpu works. From what I can tell all is ok The issue I cannot get around is the sound card. I installed the soundblater drivers, they install ok, but upon restart I get the error that no compatible device has been found. What should I do next?

Further mention, the laptop was sold to me as barebone so the cpu was not mounted as was the gpu. I used AS5 on the gpu and the kept the stock pad on the heatsink, which I say does a fine job until so far.

While stressing with XTU for a bit I noticed the cpu stays @ 3.2ghz @ 4 cores max temps of 81 degrees.

During the first run of 3dmark11 (results here: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4700MQ,Notebook P15SM ) the gpu did not go over 78 degrees. I will be posting pics I managed to take it of it while mounting etc. BTW, the mobo is rev 3.3A and the msata slot under the primary bay is covered by a metal plate (with 2 screws). More info soon.

Someone help me out with the sound blaster thingie. Thx.

LE: +135MHZ on core and +400 on memory http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7240103 (79 degrees CPU / 82 degrees GPU). BF3 gameplay incoming next :)

To fix the soundblaster issue, you first have to install the generic Realtek sound drivers, and THEN install the soundblaster ones :)

I was thinking the exact same thing about 30 minutes ago and am now downloading at the staggering rate of 60kbps the audio drivers from clevo website. Hope those work.

LE: The Creative app now works but is it just me or the sub is hardly "there". Is there any special setting I should be using?

Is it a common issue that the dgpu remains active even though no 3d activity? And along with it, the fan stays on @ around 1500-2000 rpm even though the card is in its 40s...?

You probably have a program running that is set to use the dgpu only. I have seen some people who had this problem when they run Steam. Take a look around the NVIDIA control panel and see if any of your normal programs (browser and such) are set to use the dgpu. As for the fan problem I have no idea.

Well apparently it's a bug that some friends of mine also have on their p170em and p150em so I'm thinking it's a legagy bug :)

Don't really care much, it can be solved with a reboot. It could be due to the fact that it's rather cold in this office here (around 20 degrees), but running bf3 on ultra settings (64 players metro map) with +135/+400 the card never went past 74 degreese. I think that's pretty impressive.

is there a way to turn the discrete GeForce graphics OFF and use the Intel graphics? Will doing this also prevent the fan from going spinning randomly?

It's off by default and turns on when the system needs it. If you're running something to monitor the GPU temps for example, it will turn on.

Try using the Nvidia software to use the intregrated gpu for the software, i.e select it manually. Also try pressing Fn+F1 twice to turn the fan on max then back to normal. Lastly check Prema's site to sed if he has a bios that fixes the fan yet. Also make him a donation. It would be nice to have a fan that ramps up and down smoother, and more quietly.

You could always go with a single 480GB M5 just now if you are worried, raiding SSDs is not really necessary.

Agreed, RAID 0 or 1 with SSD is not the best. You don't get much performance increase, as the drive is not the bottleneck. If you are doing it to get a bigger drive, it is cheaper per GB to just buy a bigger SSD. With mirroring, with the same drive, both drives tend to fail at about the same time. And this assumes that Trim and others things are working fine with RAID.

My personal experience with Raided SSD. Went from a 10-15 second boot to a 4-5 second boot. There is a difference, and in day to day ongoing usage not going to notice it, but to me it's totally worth doing in regards to OS boot. Really helps when I'm running late to get into the office, open up the laptop and hit the power key. Up and running in seconds. Really impresses the yokels who've never heard of SSD either ;)

Lol, well getting a single drive now means you can up the storage later as the prices drop more easily, that's if you can wait for the 10-12 seconds for the machine to boot :p

I think the decision comes down to what you need in your notebook. I have the same set up as Derek and get 4-5sec boot times with RAID 0 and dont need any storage space for my notebook so I'd rather have the speed.
For my desktop I use a single SSD and 7TB HDD space (hence the reason I dont need space on my notebook) 10-12 second boot times on my desktop is lame though

Haha, each their own, but for the way I use my system I'm glad I have a Raided SSD configuration. Saves my face when I stroll into the office late and only have those 5 or 6 seconds to login before I'm late ;)

Six seconds, serriously, you guys are argueing over six seconds.

I don't have a computer in the house that boots in under a minute, most take over two minutes. Yep, start the computer and go get coffee. And I don't even drink coffee.

It's kinda strange that RAID-0 two SSDs can get the boot 6 seconds down. Most system files are small files that don't benefit much from RAID-0.

Maybe the system is archiving lots of small files in big packages?

    @ajnindlo
When you get used to 2~4s GUI boot into a netbook Linux environment, 6 seconds faster in Windows boot feels like a huge step forward.

I do agree that it doesn't really matter in practice though.

WEI Really means next to nothing. They're comparing the 780m to the high end desktop GPUs as it doesn't make any determination between desktop/laptop. Your system is perfectly fine, just get out there and gaming!

got my laptop set up with 8970m from xoticpc, it got here lot sooner than expected. so far so good.

@sniper probably it used your integrated instead of dgpu make sure you have updated drivers i think.

also fan gets load really fast, with almost no middling between low and high fan speed. is there a fix for this?

Can you hear whether it's the GPU or CPU fan winding up? The 8970 isn't the coolest running card.

seems both cpu and gpu fans run at the same time, at least while im playing tera and watching a stream.

cpu load around 30% and openhardwaremonitor displays gpu at 99% whenever dgpu in use:
cpu avgs 5-10 C below gpu temp with max fan 75 C max for both so far
fan gets load pretty fast >70ish C ithink fan ramps up for me
no worries so far though, this is about what i expected in fan noise buying p150sm from reviews.

ive got the p150sm and the fan rumps up to max (same as fn+1) when the gpu tems go above 75C on some games i think it is. if you let it cool down for a bit itll go down. Also happens with Battlefield 4 beta and D&G Neverwinter.

This is to help keep the GPU temps in check :) I wish the EM did that with the 680M and it would have let me tweak it more.
