Most TN displays out there are 6bit and use dithering to simulate more colours.

Hi guys,
I'm starting up a company with my friend and we are building and selling computers and laptops. So for the laptops, I was thinking of selling this laptop for us. I also want to buy one. Do you guys think people will enjoy using this laptop and will people buy it? -

To be honest you should be doing far more detailed research than this.
Mr.Koala likes this. -
I agree with Meaker.
Thats the most ridiculous business plan/proposal I ever heard. In short... prepare to fail lol
Everyone is after easy money lmao -
??? I can't think of any brand, this or others, where either answer would be no. If any one buys it, then people buy it, and the ones that buy it seem to enjoy it. Same for HP, Sony, Dell, etc. People buy them and enjoy them.
-
I don't know how to say this politely but you got some tough competitors out there. Most of the people that are interested in sager will most likely buy from sager website, xoticpc, malibal, etc. You're better off trying to start a small hotdog stand business. If you're really passionate about selling computers, I'd say get a business/marketing degree.

It's a hard market to get into as you have to build up trust as these systems are not cheap and they can need support down the road. Asking users about what to sell is not going to build up trust, especially with people on this forum.
There are basic steps you would take in any market to judge if there is a gap and this would tell you the information you asked. Coming into an established market with no plan on what will make you different is not going to end well. -
Bought this product and fixed the static noise coming from the audio jack while maintaining laptop portability.
Amazon.com: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Go! Pro USB Audio System with THX SB1290: Electronics -
I would suggest this one HiFimeDIY Sabre USB DAC. Digital to Audio Converter 96khz/24bit (incl USB to optical converter feature) which is much better then XFi Go and has an excellent sound. The main disadv is that for headphones you will need additional headphone amp (even little small from FiiO - e6 - very good one) or just FiiO E7 or E10 which includes DAC and AMP
-
It seems like a standard mechanical HDD would fit in these things in the 2nd hdd bay but most resellers only have SSD listed for the 2nd drive. Any reason for this? I would prefer a SSD+Mechanical HDD combo and not use the msata
-
7mm 2.5" HDDs are not that common.
-
Just out of interest... why not?
In my opinion the best setup would be to have windows + programs and games on mSATA, then use mechanical HDDs for data storage. -
Been going back and forth on it really, I like to save 100$ since its usually $300 upgrade to 500gb SSD or 420$ish for 2x 256gb if do it the way I posted. Less I spend, = happier wife
-
They are, without problems you can get one.
-
I considered that one as well. But I ended up going with one by Andrea which works very well between its input quality and portability and includes a directional microphone which is also better than I expected.
Amazon.com: USB-SA Andrea External USB Soundcard / SuperBeam Microphone Bundle: Computers & Accessories
Other ones I considered--prioritizing portability and sturdiness first--are as follows, should anyone have issues with electrical noise and need to work around it (in the order of which I would have purchased first if my preferred were hypothetically unavailable, though they have all received very positive reviews on sound and build quality):
- Logitech: Amazon.com: Logitech USB To 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter: Electronics
- Turtle Beach: Amazon.com: Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Amigo II USB Sound Card & Headset Adapter: Electronics
- X-Fi: Amazon.com: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Go! Pro USB Audio System with THX SB1290: Electronics
- Buddy: Amazon.com: Buddy USB 6G Sound Pod: Computers & Accessories
While I realize there were preamps, DACs, and so on that I could buy from very prestigious brands among the sound community, I really just wanted an easy and quality (for the price and size) dongle to stick in and use the laptop mostly as I would normally. -
I just installed Windows 8 and it would be sick with a touchscreen on my P157SM.
Is there such monitor with touch features that can be replaced? As the computer is easy to disassemble it would be a cool project.'

Cant install touchscreens without proper motherboard support which unfortunately these don't have.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yeah there is no way to give the data to the system since it's not built into the display cable.
-
Well finally sent my 157sm back for repairs, hopefully they can get it fixed fast without having to order any parts that will make it take longer.
-
what happend with your 157?
-
I keep getting a driver error for my gpu and then it restarts. pretty sure the card is not running at all. not sure what else is up, even for basic web browsing it is significantly slower than my 3 year old dell it is replacing.
-
ohh I want to get 8790 also, but maybe I will be more lucky
-
yah everything I read about the 8970 says it is great and does not have the driver problems of its predecessor, I am sure I just got unlucky and will wait until i get it back to make a judgement, but for 2400 bucks this thing better be pretty bad when it works lol.
-
and with 55 bucks to upgrade from 770m to 8970 vs 350 to upgrade to the 780m, I would make the same choice again.
-
If you were just web browsing and still getting poor performance, either the CPU integrated graphics is bad or enduro is messing things up again because of the 8970m. idk.
-
Should have gone for the P370SM where Enduro isnt a problem lol
-
but this is 17" and 157 is 15"
-
Yeah I just realized there is no 15 inch version of the P370SM.
The 300 series is the only one where Enduro is disabled by hardware I believe. -
He might as well have gotten a 780m with the 15" clevo... about the same price as the P370SM with 8970m, maybe even cheaper.
-
Wow! Thank you for posting those findings on the speaker setup. Using those settings in the Realtek control panel (version 6.0.1.7027) and "Built in Speakers" in X-Fi, made my machines sound go from sad to good! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
300 and 570wm. The only modern ones yes. -
Yeah but you cant beat a 17 incher for gaming.
Hence why I MUST have the bigger screen, so personally thats why I'm going for the P370SM.
Right!
This will be my first time owning a Clevo, lets hope its everything that I expect it to be for such prices lol -
My laptop has to be mobile, so 17 is too big for me to my backpack etc... otherwise I will choose 17 of course but now I have external monitor at home and its fine
-
Ah I see, so portability is really important to you then.
I've gone for the P370SM because I already have a work laptop which I carry around (Lenovo W530) which is fairly light so I was mainly looking for a DTR machine for gaming.
-
Let's not turn this into why the P370SM is better, or why a 17" is better. The thread is about the P157SM/P150SM. Mine1, I also have read the enduro is much better now. So let's hope it was a one off problem, which happens to even the best manufacturers.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well both the 15" and 17" single card models are the same in the optimus and enduro aspect so it really does not make a difference as the dual card machines are not appropriate for many people.
-
Well I really wasn't. Everyone has their own requirements and views on what model is better for them.
I was merely stating that the P370 is better suited for me.
Oh and I wasn't focused on that model at the beginning, my attention was going all for the P177. Love those LEDs! However, since thinking about it for a little longer I decided that the P370 would be more suited for my needs.

Yah I hope it is something they can fix fast. and I really hope I don't have to send it in again. taking it 11 days just for the mail to get it back there and then a few days for them to fix it and then at least another week for the return shipping. in the end I will be out 3 weeks of a computer that I paid extra to have working correctly the first time.
-
Who's your retailer? try to ask for a compensation, maybe get a free hdd or something.
-
That's what I do as well. Bring the 15" to school, go home, plug it in my 120Mhz 24" monitor =)
-
+1
Overall though sounds
like he bought from the wrong reseller. :/
Lol I don't go to school.
Plus I've got a 15 inch work laptop which is a Lenovo W530, it's a powerhouse with bigger battery so that's my portable machine.

I found a BIOS update for my ONE K56-3N2 (P157SM), but in the web of XMG, anyone know if it is compatible?

I have acquired BF4. Everything on ultra runs about 15-20 fps.
EDIT: I lied. That was on battery. ON charger it's 30-50 fps

BTW, is mantle available yet or we'll have to wait until december? How do I use it? Hoping to get a stable 60
-
BF4 doesn't use Mantle yet. You need to wait.
-
Hmm that's risky, why do you want to upgrade your BIOS?
Generally, of something isn't broken there isn't any need to fix it.

Its good score for my P157SM ?
