Since it is still under warranty, best to return it for repair? Anyone have experience with R & J Technologies service?

Hi all members... just bought PC Specialist Defiance II/Clevo P640RE and must say i am happy with it.. my previous laptop was Gigabyte P34g V2, so was looking for something simillar size. Choise was between MSI GS40 or this Clevo... Didnt really like the build of the MSI, so Clevo was the winner, but no TB3 and USBC, but can live without them... BUT my MOBO has the 3rd m.2 slot for WVAN :))

wait, so you actually have the M.2 slot that is located on the top side of the board and runs up under the battery? (thats where the WWAN is supposed to be located)

If you were skilled or had access to a good shop with the slot and passives you could get it added if you were brave :)

Isn't the M.2 slot for WWAN card available by default in the P640? In most Clevo laptops the slot is always there, all you need to do is buy the LTE module and plug it in, which is quite simple. I did the same on my P650SG with the ME936 card at around 60$.

It's not available at most resellers. The PCB for the module is unsoldered:

Looks like a camera not found message, make sure it's turned on via the FN keyboard shortcut.

I have some weird wavy screen burn on my 6 month old XMG, never had screen burn on any IPS display before.

Anybody else suffer from this, and is it a warranty issue? Screen auto-dims after 5 minutes, plus the pattern is unlike anything I'd have on my screen.

I think any m.2 LTE should be ok.. for example in my spec of PC Specialist version i can buy the HUAWEI ME936 and i can get it from PC Specialist uk for i think £67 ?

but i just thinking to upgrade my WIFI to Intel AC18260, the one with WIFI Dock, or what it is, bu it needs 3rd areal... just wondering where can i get it from and where do i have to put it in my laptop :))

oh well.. just bought a Sierra EM7455/Dell DW5811e and i think i've made a mistake .. was thinking that i am going to download drivers/connection utility from Sierra webpage, but no... if you want to download something of them, you have to register yourself.. not a problem, but you cannot use any free email provider, it has to be a company one... tried install dell/lenovo utility but because of the vendor not a chance.. damn it..

Typically, I would recommend getting the OEM charger for it. You probably won't be able to find a compatible adapter that has a smaller brick on it that still runs the same watts.

Just a follow up. R & J Tech was right on the ball with communication, an RMA number and replaced the internal video cable under warranty and had my laptop back to me in a couple of days. Two thumbs up!

    Hey all,

Just wondering have you run into any issues connecting the NP8640 with a TV via HDMI? I tried it and I'm only getting "No Signal". My desktop flashes on the TV for a second then it goes back to "No Signal". I know the cable and TV is working because the other laptop in the house works on the TV. The other laptop is Windows 8 while my laptop is Windows 10. Could this be why it's not working?

Have you gone into your display settings to see if it's detected and if so what resolution/refresh rate it is trying to use?

Thanks for the reply but I got it to work.

What I did was to reinstall the Intel Graphics Card driver in compatibility setting for Windows 8. This is just in case some poor soul encounter the same error I get and this page pops up in Google haha.

Knew it. disappointed that they waited than just changing it up to fit a 1060 tho. It's just a side grade. I'd prob rather stay with a 970m than 1050 ti. It just sounds less tier.
But I'm not hating the laptop. I'm not even sure if they changed up the design or not. But they usually keep a design for a while so I doubt that.

Laptop won't boot. Powers on, blue led on power button, fans spin up, green light on the front turns blinking yellow. Nothing on the display. Nothing on an external monitor when connected via HDMI.

I've tried reseating the ram, m.2 drive, ssd, disconnected the battery and CMOS battery with no change.

Sits on the table and was working fine when I shut it down. Never dropped, spilled on, etc. Was fixed under warranty from R & J Tech a few months ago (bad display cable) and has been working flawlessly since.

    Suggestions?

    Thx!

EDIT. Now it booted fine with no changes from what I types above.

It could have been a memory configuration issue and it eventually retrained the link.
