Recently when my laptop / external monitor turn black from inactivity and I return, all the windows from my secondary screen have moved over to my primary screen. And the windows on my primary screen get warped (not sure if this is the correct term to describe it). Anyone else facing this?

I wonder if the Schenker P506 bios will work on the Clevo/sager P650RG. They have a downloadable bios dated 1/28/16 ver. 1.05.12a

On any Clevo model, the 0 and 1 is just going to be cosmetic as it is mentioned. It might be whether a lid is plastic or metal, if it has a rubberized finish or not, or if there is some kind of design on the lid. Otherwise the specs would be the same basically.

Got it last January, started that way around February. RMA is an issue since I can't afford to hand over my laptop since I need it.

As for the mic, ever since I had it, I haven't found a single headset that had the inline mic work with it.

I think what you need is a splitter which connects to the 3.5mm plug on your headset and output 2 stereo plugs, one for the headphone jack and one for the microphone. I haven't tried to make an inline mic work so let us know if you find a solution.

inline microphone are generally for cellphones. That is why there is a jack for a microphone on a laptop.

Hey everyone. My machine finally arrived so I'm working at getting it all set up. I've seen talk about a battery utility I should have where I can set it so it doesn't micro-charge? How do I go about accessing that? And is there anything else I should know about during setup?

    Thanks!

I was kind of hoping that I would not need a splitter since on my previous laptop, inline mic works even without the splitter.

One thing I have in mind is wether the number of rings would make the inline mic work but I don't have one to test it.

I think you can access the battery flexicharge through the Clevo control panel, if you install that ... or, in the BIOS. You'll find it under "advanced chipset instructions".

Hey everyone.. I bought one of these a few months ago and I'm having a weird issue with it now. I have a USB thumbdrive that works fine in all other computers but when I put it in this laptop it connects and disconnects over and over again fairly quickly. I read a bunch of stuff online about it and implemented a few changes to make sure power saving wouldn't affect the process but nothing has resolved this. I was going to update the BIOS and maybe some of the drivers to see if that helps but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this. I'm running Win 7 on it.

    Thanks!

Yes it's not a combo port you need a MIC line. Does the machine react at all? Do you hear boot sounds? Have you tried flipping between dedicated and switchable graphics and if that impacts it?

    @ReDuNZL
I personally use Control Center to manage my system and change settings. It doesn't add much control but it's certainly worth installing.
It would be great if there are more customizable alternatives (especially for CPU/GPU fan speed, keyboard, and backlighting controls) or there are any that we know of.

    @moviemarketing
Here are some more benchmarks to add (i7-6700HQ/970M):
3DMark Fire Strike (stock GPU speeds): http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8260933
3DMark Sky Diver (stock GPU speeds): http://www.3dmark.com/sd/4024263
Cinebench CPU test (locked CPU speeds @ 2.6GHz stock/3.5GHz turbo): 669
Cinebench OpenGL/GPU test (stock GPU speeds): 110.08fps

Does anyone have all 4 ram slots populated and working? I did a bios update to 1.05.12 and still cannot get it to post with 3 or 4 ram slots in use. Even disconnected the internal battery and the cmos to wipe any remaining values.

Have you tried just changing the ram around in different slots or testing them one at a time? Just to rule out a bad stick of ram.

Install the control center program maybe, or other type of useful utility programs. If you need them, they are available on Sagers site. But otherwise, yeah, time to enjoy the computer.

So I just realized that my webcam isn't working.

Every program I try to use (such as Skype) says that "No webcam was detected."

How do I enable the webcam? I can't seem to find any drivers on the Clevo website or anything like that.

Did you try Fn+F10 key combination ? It is supposed to toggle the webcam on/off.

Also, do you see it in the device manager?

Can someone post a video of how long their boot from shutdown is and how it looks like. I think mine's a slower than how it should be and the Sager logo appears twice. Not that there's any problem. I'm just curious

I'm thinking of purchasing a P650RE-G however I'm a little bit concerned about the battery life. Basically I'd like to be able to play games on the train ride to/from work, which for me is up to an hour. I'm fairly confident it would last that long to start with, however as is typical the batteries tend to get worse over time so I'm wondering what kind of buffer I'd have.

I've seen reviews indicating battery performance under load is 90-100 minutes, however the reviews generally don't indicate what kind of load that is, and I generally get the impression it's CPU load. Does anyone have an indication of what battery life is like when gaming, using the 6700HQ and 970m (1080p G-Sync screen ideally)?

Edit: Actually, looking more into it it seems like my assumption about the battery test (at least for notebookcheck) was wrong and they are testing the GPU as well. So 98 minutes with maximum brightness when maxing out CPU and GPU seems enough for my needs. Even with only 60% of the maximum battery capacity I should have enough battery life to get me home.

You can use the nvidia drivers to also peg performance at a certain level to get more out of it.

It's long, although my logo appears once and stays on for initial uefi/windows boot. Wish there was a fast boot option to minimize bios post testing

For a performance laptop, BIOS hang time is unacceptable.

Hey guys, have a Sager NP8658-S (P650RG-G) and was wondering if the SIM card slot on the right was functional. I saw no info on the website, and the guidebook that came with it only said that "Model A" has it, while "Model B" does not. There are no identifying marks on the laptop to distinguish if it is either A or B.

TLDR; does the Sager NP8658-S (P650RG-G)'s SIM card slot work out of the box?

    Thanks!

Not out of the box necessarily...

You would need to disassemble the laptop and place another 3rd party 3G or LTE module in "Model A" in the M.2 combo slot. EDIT: You would also need a separate antenna cable for it, or you can temporarily take the cables out of the WiFi card (not recommended) if you want to be able to connect to a network.

Even then, it might not let you connect depending on your carrier that you use. Some don't allow cellular use on laptop computers, like Verizon, because it has a whitelist in place that only allows certain devices that can give out their OEM features or have a way to connect to 3G or LTE in a small form factor. You would need to buy a Micro or Nano SIM to full-size SIM adapter because carriers usually don't give out full-size SIM cards.

You could also just tether if you need to, again, depends on your carrier.

    My thoughts exactly.

I tried searching for the "best" Nvidia driver for g-sync, which is 355.82 based on what I've read, but when installing, it says Nvidia could not detect my graphics card. Tried googling for answers but none of them worked. I tried installing my other driver, 362.0, and it installed correctly

I don't think so. Sager doesn't list the functionality of it on their specs, while Clevo has some of the LTE specs listed as a "factory option" which means that the reseller would need to have it included. I also don't think there is the proper antenna on the inside to be able to pick up the signal.

A lot of times having a tethering option might be cheaper than getting a separate mobile hotspot or individual data plan. Really nice if you have an unlimited data plan you can use somehow for tethering.

Just got myself a new P650RG-G from Aftershock PC in Singapore! Just wanted to make sure, the 980M version can fit a 9.5mm + 7.5mm 2.5" HDDs, like stated in Notebookchecks review of the equivalent Schenker?

I've seen a lot of conflicting info on this, and HTWingnut's video on a naked SSD + 9.5mm HDD seems to be based on the SG.

The models with the 970m have a thinner chassis compared to the 980m models. So the SE/RE models don't have the option to do the HDD and SSD at the same time, while the SG/RG models should be able to do that.

FWIW I managed to mount an HDD and an SSD on my SE with 970M by only mounting each disk with one screw per side in a cross pattern. The metal bracket is a bit "bent" (it is very flexible) and both disks fit without stressing the SATA connections on the motherboard at all. One disk barely touches the bottom cover so no problems there as well. Note that I didn't remove the case on my SSD. If you do remove it, then you will have no problem fitting the drives because a naked SSD is very compact.
