Hm. Since the store in which they tested the machine revealed no problems at all regarding hardware according to them, I'll test the different modes in the Control Center to see the difference. However, you mentioned a "Dedicated Mode". I only have "MSHybrid" and "Discrete". Is it the same?

Yes dedicated = discreet.

What I would recommend is downloading the drivers off the clevo website and installing them. They're outdated yes but could help.
Also disable the updates for the graphics drivers from Windows.
Let me know how this goes. I am out of town for a while and will attempt this myself when I get back. -
Thanks for the support, really appreciated!
I made yet another fresh install, with the drivers from the Clevo repository I found somewhere on this thread, replaced some of them for newer versions (Chipset, IRST and VGA), and the problem persists. What's funny is I left BattleField 1 running on its own, just the character standing there while all hell broke loose around it, and it ran fine for over an hour. When I went to control the character it crashed a few minutes later. Later on, did the same thing, this time exited the game gracefully, a few minutes on the desktop and another BSOD.
I might believe you on that Creators Update thing, I opened the dmp's on WinDBG and they point out respectively :
dxgkrnl.sys ( dxgkrnl!DxgkSetPointerPosition+2f7 )
dxgmms2.sys ( dxgmms2!VidSchiInterlockedInsertTailList+27 )
And all this happened in Dedicated Mode. Guess I'll try that older NVIDIA driver. Is it good practice to use DDU (Driver Display Uninstaller)? I've used it so far on all my computers, but you never know... -
I'm using the latest Intel drivers from Clevo and latest nvidia driver. Windows is 10 FCU with all the latest patches. Running in hybrid mode, on a clean boot the nvidia will go to sleep when not in use (can notice in GPU-Z the stats disappear for the nvidia). However, after doing something that uses the GPU, like playing a game, the nvidia will stop going to sleep on desktop when idle. Instead it will stay awake but on the lowest clock. This still consumes way more battery than sleeping the GPU. Any idea why this is?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Are you using the Nvidia GPU activity monitor? (GPU control panel, desktop tab at the top, GPU activity icon). What does it say?
-
Edit: doesn't seem to matter either way, I killed everything that was showing in the monitor and tghe GPU still doesn't go to sleep. Stuck on 135/162 until I reboot.Last edited: Jan 7, 2018 -

What is your preferred GPU set to in the nvidia control panel? It's odd everything is being piled on the GPU.
-
Weird thing is that it's fine at boot, only starts happening after playing a game/plugging in a monitor on displayport.
Edit: just confirmed it's not from running a 3D program, it's from plugging in the displayport monitor. The GPU obviously doesn't sleep while plugged in, as nvidia is needed to feed the displayport, but after unplugging it continues to not sleep.Last edited: Jan 7, 2018 -
So far I've been messing around with DriverVerifier. I found some problems with KillerNetworking drivers, but now the Verifier seems to be stuck on
BugCheck C4, {2004, ffffa40af160d5d8, fffff803545301f0, fffff50d104075c8}
Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!VerifierBugCheckIfAppropriate+df )
upon boot, it just keeps BSOD'ing until the Verifier is off.
Since this is Windows Kernel, some 3rd party software is messing the memory space of the Kernel, leading it to BSOD for safety reasons. Any ideas why this should be happening? Or tips for WinDBG, my knowledge is pretty basic.
I'm on Windows 10 Pro, which has more security measures than Home edition if I read right somewhere. Could it be related to these issues? -
-
Just made a fresh install, and within an hour of trying to run DiRT Rally benchmark mode 3 Orange Screens (?) happened, all related to system files (kernel). Not to mention various times it just crashed to desktop. I'm completely lost. Could it be the BIOS? I have it on the latest version I found on this thread, however the EC Firmware is still on its original version, therefore they don't match. Could it cause this?
I'm attaching logs of this fresh install, in the hope someone can point me in a direction. Sorry for being inconvenient.Attached Files:

Were you having issues before?

Sounds like it needs to go back to your reseller for investigation if it's misbehaving after a fresh install.
-
I've been having an awful lot of NTDLL errors lately and I've tried everything from reinstalling drivers to a new OS. I'm thinking of upgrading my motherboard but I don't know how where I can download the latest and how I should do it
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Did you mean motherboard BIOS? Again you should speak to your reseller.
-
Hi guys, new here! I've got a Medion Erazer X7849 (6700HQ 32GB GTX1070) which basically uses the same chassis as far as I can tell but after doing a BIOS update (to v1.05.08RME3) from Medions support site the laptop no longer POSTs and just sits there, black screen for 2 mins before turning itself off. Does anyone know a way to recover from this situation? Can you manually reflash the BIOS?
On a different note, has anyone successfully used an NVME m.2 drive in their machine? It appears to support it but just wanted to check!
Many thanks in advance.... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes the NVME will work in the right slot.
As for the BIOS speak to your reseller as its not an easy to recover issue. -
I was hoping there might have been some usb drive Fn+B type recovery option like it appears there was on previous Clevo models. If there's not then why wouldn't they design some kind of recovery protocol? It's outrageous that updating your BIOS should require some kind of high stakes gamble....
Surely I've not bricked the entire motherboard...if that is the case does anyone know the ballpark cost for replacing the mobo? I'm in UK if that helps.
Cheers -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's why we hand out the files rather than letting users download them, there are so many variations and you have to be sure to get the right file. A new motherboard will be expensive as it also has the GPU and CPU soldered on.
Worst case they should be able to get a new BIOS chip for you and flash it or program it for you so long as it was the BIOS part that was corrupted.
The EC is stored on the keyboard controller and that's just not recoverable. -
I shouldn't have fallen for the temptation of 'improved overall system stability'! Although some random keyboard lag was driving me mad....I was hoping this might have helped.
From Median's support site:
" BIOS UPDATE MEDION ERAZER X784X/X785X
Version: 1.05.08RME3 - Win 10 64bit
This driver accordingly this software improves the overall system stability due to an update of the CPU nmicro code and is compatible to the following product series:
- MEDION ERAZER X7847
- MEDION ERAZER X7848
- MEDION ERAZER X7849 <- thats me!
- MEDION ERAZER X7850"
I contacted Medion customer support yesterday and their official UK service dept today and await their replies....
Thanks for your help Meaker! Making me wish I'd bought a Sager now... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's soldered but it's a standard 8 pin SOP package so pretty easy to work on.

A Sager bought from anyone can go straight to our support team with their serial number. -
I was looking through the USB driver that came with my laptop, and inside the folder containing the factory drivers there was a folder called "efi_sata" with a bunch of files, mainly RaidDriver.efi and some Intel tests. How do I install these? Could the fact that I didn't install them be causing errors? I know how to get into EFI Shell, but that's it...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Usually these drivers are used in raid mode to allow the OS to see the hard disks during installation. If you are booted into the system then they are running.
-
Something like this should do the trick? Will have to dig out my solder sucker....

Is there a way to download the sager control panel? I can't find it on my 8658-S. Thanks!
-
Long (and hard) pressing my 'W' causes it to continue to be pressed for a few millisecond. How do I fix this? Do I need to replace the whole keyboard?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes you would need to replace the whole thing, you can't get spare pieces. The CCC should be on our download page.
-
Does the P650RG have a display port? Planning to buy an external monitor and don't have my laptop with me right now....
Can someone send me a picture of where the port is and what it looks like? Never used the Display Port before..... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It has two mini displayports both capable of 4k output. They are on the left hand side with the HDMI and single USB3.

anyone know where I can find the latest drivers for the synatics touchpad? I got a bluescreen while playing a game earlier. I've tried downloading some drivers but all the ones I found are oudated.
Stop Code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
What failed: SynTP.sys -
Try this.

My laptop gtx 970m , i have problem bsod, when i check the problem in nvidia vga card, the fan is broking, i want ask , can we disable nvidia vga and only use intel
-

-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can also set the Nvidia driver to IGP only in the power settings.

Not in the regular bios no. I'm not sure about an unlocked one.

Hello, I tried to search for newer bios for my P650RE3G but saw there is a lot of versions. Can someone please point me in the right direction as I am unable to talk to my reseller (got renamed and not responding anymore)?
-
Is there a BIOS update with the Spectre variant 2 fix for the P650RG-G?
-
Hello everyone,
Sorry for the odd question, but my laptop was sent to the seller and when it came, it lost one of the rubber stands on the bottom. Is there any way I can get one? Tried eBay but no luck :/ -
Or ask your local service center http://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_contact.asp?lang=en -
Will do, thank you for your time!
BTW, I installed a fresh copy of Windows as soon as I got it and I noticed the brightness hotkeys aren't working, but I can change the brightness both in Windows and ControlCenter. What could be the issue? They used to work. I have the ControlCenter version in this site: http://www.clevo.com/en/e-services/download/ftpOut.asp?Lmodel=P6xxRx<ype=9&submit=
Thanks in advance! -
Is there a way to disable optimus? I want to use G-Sync but that would mean disabling my CPU, and it really affects my FPS
-
I noticed the same bug. Did not find any good solutions yet... Looks like clevo should step up their game and make driver updates for their products -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Does brightness control not work in hybrid or dedicated modes?
