You should just set it up via windows. Type fingerprint into the search bar at the bottom left.

This is the power adaptor I got with my laptop. Would I be able to use the one in your link?

Have anyone connected a 144hz monitor through the Mini DisplayPorts? I just wanna confirm ports can handle 144hz output :) (pretty sure they do, but I can't find that documented anywhere)

    Hi there everybody,
this is my first post in this forum - thanks already for all the help and suggestions I've read so far.

I am an owner of a Sager NP-8658 S, which as I understand it should be a Clevo P650RG.
As you know, it comes with a powerful GTX 980M.

However, I am considering buying an eGPU case, and adding a GTX 1060 or 1070 (desktop, not mobile), assuming I can afford it. I have tried to find information on whether it works with it or not, but no luck so far.

What I am try to determine is which eGPU case will work with my laptop (or, is there no difference? Would they all work?), and if I need an adapter to make it work. Also, once plugged, do I need to install drivers, or else, to have the laptop take advantage of the extra GPU power?

Thanks a lot for any recommendations!

Thunderbolt 3 is required and it's not a feature your machine has so you can't do eGPU.

So I repasted the CPU (used Grizzly Kyronaut) which was way easier than I thought it would be. (6 screws and a few pieces of tape) and initially I had an issue where it beeped really loudly after running for a few minutes which I took as it not having enough paste so I repasted it a little more(thick line instead of a pea) and definitely running a ton cooler (going from 99C to about 85C under load) and definitely improving FPS in a ton of games. Swapped out the keyboard as well so that's working well (2nd time the W was sticking in the two years I owned it) so no complaints here.

Gentlemen, i am in need of a new keyboard for my P706, a clevo P671RG. Finding one is a bit troublesome. There are plenty to be found for a P670RG however. Does anyone know if they are compatible? Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi all,

Have anyone updated to the latest BIOS from Sager? If my memory doesn't fail, I don't recall seeing this behavior before...

Everytime I play and fans have been spinning for a while (cpu temp around 75c), once every 30 minutes -45 minutes, the fans suddently stop completely (as if laptop were idle) for about 1 - 2 secs and then kick back in to the speed they were spinning before. Temp doesn't go up during this short stop but I find that very intriguing.

Fans are on Automatic in the Control Center.

Funny detail is that it only occurs in Overwatch when I finish a match and before starting a new one. I haven't tried other games yet, but it does not happen during a match or any other moment rather that when match finishes

My keyboard is slowly starting to die in my P650RG (keys located above my fan quit responding when the laptop gets hot) and I was wondering if it would be possible to install the RGB keyboard of the newer models since they're pretty much identical except for the RGB.

Edit : Silly me forgot to search before posting. Consider the question answered.

RGB requires extra signalling pins (One for R, one for G and one for B) compared to white. This makes the cabling/connectors/firmware different.

I was forced to update to the windows 10 creators update and it messed with my usb keyboard or something. So I did a system restore to a point before the update but now when I boot up my laptop it just boots into a black screen. Anyone have any idea what to do?

    Hello guys ,

Have had my P650RG for about a year now.

For the past month or so, the laptop keeps randomly shutting down. I spoke to support at the place I bought it from and disabled all sleep options (sometimes it sleeps and sometimes it shuts down completely and restarts on its own).

Sometimes the laptop will turn on when I open the lid.

Temperatures are in the 70-74 Deg. C. range and seem to be ok (i6820HK).

Does anybody have any experience with this kind of a problem? Any tips/ hints would be greatly appreciated. I am also talking to the supplier.

Laptop's shut down twice now while writing this. Sometimes it keeps shutting down and sometimes its stable for hours on end. It's driving me nuts. Help!

Also, where can one download the latest Premamod Bios from? Have there been any updates?

Does it do this on both battery and AC? Does it do it both discrete mode and hybrid mode?

Happens on battery and AC yes. My laptop is in Discrete mode only.

I found this message popping up before the shut downs in the event log

"The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 0 seconds since the last report.", for processors 0-8.

Figured this could be a throttling issue? Went to the control centre. Laptop was set to "Entertainment" mode. Shifted to "Performance" mode. Although I've not really been putting the laptop through it's paces. Seems to have worked so far.

Any other ideas? Will report if this issue pops up again. Prefer fixing it quickly and by myself rather thru an RMA.

    That's just a fluff message.

My primary suspect is a bad VRM phase (some part of it) likely to the CPU that's making it detect a short and shut off.

What do you suggest I do next if the VRM issue is indeed the case.

I changed modes in the control centre on 14.10 btw. The issue hasn't repeated itself so far.

@madgore You will need the bottom and top part. Maybe your reseller can provide you the parts? Or go to the Service Manual and check the part number and search it ion alibaba or taobao.

    Hi, :)

I know this message is old but I'm planning to repaste my Clevo P650RE6 too.
My question is about the thickness of the thermal pads. Here is the only place on internet I found the information about what thickness to use. I wonder if 1.5mm is enough? It's hard to tell on the picture but the thermal pads don't seem to have the footprint of the different microchips. Is it because the foam went back in place or they are touching the microchips very gently?

If you did a repaste on the P650RE/RG/RA don't hesitate to share your thought!

    Thanks in advance ;)

Once again, nothing but disappointed with HIDevolution's service and timelines. They have had my laptop for a month for "repairs". Kindly do not buy your laptop from them (if you're considering it).

That's the top C-section of the chassis, talk to your reseller about that as that looks like an internal hinge failure.

You can try sending an email to helix.com.ph they are the authorized distributor of sager notebooks here in the philippines and i'm pretty sure they should have them. barring that, you can try looking at aliexpress. i bought a replacement keyboard from there. just make sure that the specs match.

on another note, i saw a post here about changing the GPU fan curve by flashing the EC. i found another method when i was browsing through the forums. in the hotkey folder located in the program files folder, there is a program called GPUOCv2. it is clevo's own GPU overclocking utility. it had an option there to modify the fan offset, which works exactly the same way as the EC rewrite method.

what i did is open MSI afterburner (to ensure that the nvidia GPU is active) and then opened GPUOCv2. i enabled GPU overclocking and bumped the core speed up to enable fan offset. i then set it to 24% and applied the settings. i then closed the GPUOCv2 program and restarted my laptop. i have an overclock and stock profile in my MSI afterburner and switching between the 2, i didn't see any changes in fan speed. currently, my idle fan speed is at 2500RPM, ramping up to 4,800RPM once temps hit 60C. in contrast, the stock fan curve starts out at 1,500RPM and maxes out at ~3600RPM. you can only go past that by hitting fn+1 which also brings the CPU fan to max.

as it stands, with an ambient temp of around 28C (cause the tropics be hot), my GPU is running at a happy 70C, playing witcher 3 for 3 hours with an overclock of +135Mhz to core and +450Mhz on memory (via MSI afterburner)

has anyone played around with maxwell bios tweaker to mod their VBIOS to go past the +135 MHz cap on the GPU core? looking for some pointers to help me out.

    Hi eveyone.

I'm the owner of a P650RG with a 980M. This laptop has been giving me nightmares pretty much since the day it arrived with BSOD's. Not even 10 minutes into gaming than BAM, there it goes.

I've already made fresh installs, resinstalled drivers, everything I could think of. Recently sent the laptop back to the store claiming "Hardware Fault" and according to them, they couldn't find anything wrong, with it being able to run Witcher for hours and hours straight with no errors. I'm lost on what to do, I paid a small fortune for a gaming laptop I can't play games on. Any suggestions?

This last installation of Windows I did what I usually do, install it with internet OFF, install al the drivers, and then reconnect it to the internet to install all the updates. Am I doing something wrong? Is there anything wrong with the drivers that is crashing the system?

    Thanks in advance!

Since I never knew for sure what those were and what they did exactly, I never messed with those modes. So it's safe to say it only ever happened in MSHybrid mode.

Hybrid: Intel graphics drive display, nvidia gpu set to slave in highnperformance and is passed frames to process, it then passes it back to the Intel gpu to output. Kept off when not needed.

Dedicated: Nvidia directly driving display. Intel graphics disabled, Nvidia always on so using power all the time.

Issues in hybrid mode commonly point to Intel driver issues or main system ram problems.
