Hi @Meaker@Sager, sorry to bother you again but I've found that post in a thread dedicated to the P650RS-G line. Is the same true for the HS-G line? If so, do I need to install any drivers to get it working? (When you have some time to spare could you please check my question above?)

I've also noticed an Texas Instruments logo. So, Sabre for the headphones and TI for speakers? I'm confused about how to get it all working properly.

@Galm, found that you were interested in Dacs on the P650 lines as well. Care to share some info?

Lol I just want to say every time I see an alert and glance at it I see "Anthony accidently mentioned you".

Yeah so I took mine apart to look at it. The chip is the SABRE ESS 9018 chip. So that's honestly quite impressive. It sounds far an away better than any laptop without it. I've used it with ie800s and HD800s. Gotta be fair, the HD800s are still a bit much as those things need a real amp. But the ie800s sound great out of it.

You don't do anything to make it work. It just does. Also I'm not sure which DAC was going to speakers, but they suck frankly, so it doesn't matter.

@Meaker@Sager my P650RS has the DAC... Did you mean desktop models + the P650 and P670 HS models?

And also yes, by nature Meaker is right, USB and bluetooth can't use an internal dac. It needs to be the thing pumping out an analog signal.

Yeah, I'm annoying a very enthusiastic member of the forums that very often summon random people into random threads.

Something is off about my sound though. My earphones are sounding much, much better in my old laptop (Realtek + THX). For some reason the sound in the P650HS is mostly going to one side at once (really Mono)... Plus, I might be fooling myself but I think that the sound was louder and better when I first tested it. Not sure if I managed to broke the audio installing SB drivers or updating old drivers. I've since uninstalled SB software but the audio is still weird.

Interesting. It's possible there could be drivers, but it shouldn't be needed because it's embedded in the headphone jack. Like I don't even think the jack should work without it.

That sounds wrong. Mine is immediately noticeable as improved on my iems. What headphones are you using? Maybe they are really hard to drive or something.

Shure SE215 (20Ohm, 107 dB). They are generally very loud, even when plugged-in straight to low quality mobile phones

I'm pretty sure that when I first received the laptop it sounded better, both on speakers and earphones.

Still, I've already completely uninstalled and removed all traces of Sound Blaster and Realtek audio, then reinstalled Realtek (Got Realtek HD Audio Manager Tray Icon and it correctly recognizes my earphones when I plug it in)... No joy. It sounds like a Walkman playing some home made cassete tapes recorded in the 70's if you get what I mean.

Out of curiosity, do you bother with the Sound Blaster in your P650RS or are you using only the onboard Realtek?

My post was from back in September, since then we have had the P650 and P670 models with the Sabre DAC.

It could be the driving circuit having issues if it's struggling, do other devices still sound ok? Any other higher impedance devices you could test?

I mean my machine is from August... You should have had it then, but as long as you know it's their it's fine.

High impedence works on mine, so that is a good test.

Sorry to interrupt but I need assistance please!
I just received my P60HS-G from Hidevolution and first off I want to say how phenomenal the customer service was. Donald was the one who helped me and he even recommended a few other options to deduct the overall price. VERY satisfied with the company and their product!

But now however, I'm having trouble getting my gpu to work. I'm fairly new to computers but I know some of the basics. I installed and updated all the drivers using the Obsidian Utility Tool. For fan control, what software will I be using? CCC? I've read it's been buggy. I'm using MSI Afterburner to get in game benchmarks. But I can't access my fan profile nor my undervolting and overclocking.

What benchmark engines/softwares do you guys use to stress test the gpu/cpu?
I've also had an issue where loading in to say League of Legends I will get 0% GPU usage and it wouldn't load into the game? Why is that?

Also, I didn't know how to post the specs on my profile so i'll put it here instead.

    P650HS-G
    7820HK
    16GB DDR4 2400mhz
    GTX 1070
    512GB X400 Sandisk SSD

I apologize for the absurd amount of noobness but any help would be great to get me going on my brand new spanking laptop! :D

    EDIT:

Upon further meddling, I managed to fix everything by reinstalling the driver and MSI Afterburner. Amazing how some tinkering managed to fix it all. Although my temps on more demanding games hit mid to high 90C which definitely isn't good! Undervolting and repasting soon!

Any backpack (+sleeve) recommendations for the P650HS-G? Looking for a backpack that can carry the laptop, charger, mouse, headphones plus other accessories and maybe a change of clothes.

Also, what tools would be recommended for the complete maintenance of the notebook? I am looking for recommendations on toolsets, respasting tools, dust removal, screen and body cleaning etc.

Lastly, anyone use an air cooler and/or clips (to raise the back of the notebook) for improved thermals? Any recommendations?

Improved thermals: plastic bottle caps, lift the rear.
    Laptop sleeve: wenger legacy 15.6"
I personally use a standard logitech 15.6 backpack, because I do think there are not that differences between high end models.
As for maintenance, a set of small screwdrivers (even the cheap ones on amazon are ok), a can of air duster, a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, lint free cloth (I use coffee filters, same principle and cheaper), and a piece of microfiber cloth for cleaning keyboard and screen, no chemicals.

Yeah, its changed since the new CCC.

However, one thing I find strange is that once that the dGPU awakes (say I connect an external screen), then it doesn't shut down after I disconnect the screen. Any setting that I need to change?

Honestly kinda sounds hardware related... Maybe a Windows reinstall would help or trying the drivers again.

It was working immediately for me after I installed Windows and drivers. (I never tested before)

Doesn't work. The dGPU stays on.

I also get artificating when playing youtube. It then extends to other tabs. I am in part sure that this is because one of the two GPUs is not shut

Trying. In the meantime, when I just disconnected my display, and was typing here - the system completely froze. No pointer movement - no key response. I waited a couple of minutes before hard restarting

then that sounds like too much of an undervolt. I would do -60mV or -70mV max

I am currently having 2 issues, any suggestions are highly appreciated:

    1.

I am having problems with bluetooth on my NP8157.

Around 50% of the time upon freshly turning on the laptop, bluetooth is not detected, I cannot even see it in the device manager.

I had to reboot the laptop just to make it reappear.

This started happening right around the time I updated the bios and / or i moved to the Win10 Creators update.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetooth drivers and the issue still remains.

    2.

Closing the laptop lid and then opening it again seems to stall the laptop.

I already tried different combinations on the power settings, e.g. "do nothing" on lid close etc etc (Shutdown on lid close seems to work, but then I dont want that, I just want it to stay put when I close the lid).

This one however started happening right after Creators Update.

    Edit:

Was able to fix issue #1 by disabling "Fast Startup" in Windows 10.

Issue #2 was also fixed after a couple of restarts and reassigning the laptop close lid behavior repeatedly.

The only bug remaining is after opening the lid again, the screen brightness is set to maximum.

    Any other users experiencing this?

I found the same issue from another brand was resolved thru bios update:

    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkP...max-brightness-after-opening-lid/td-p/3451774

After struggling with it for several days I've finally found the culprit. I had previous disabled HotKey.ink (CCC, Flexikey and friends). As a last step before fully reinstalling Windows (trying my best not to waste @Phoenix amazing work) I've reinstalled CCC... As soon as I restarted the laptop with HotKey enabled sound problems were gone. Disabled it in startup, restarted and sound went all "mono" again... Enabled HotKey.ink again, restarted and everything was grand. So I retract my previous statement, looks like it is not safe to remove HotKey. May be CCC be with you!

USB issue on P650HP6-G : I recently took delivery of this laptop, but I am having some problems with the right USB port on this model, USB 3 devices such as HDDs work fine, but the majority of the USB 2 devices I have tried are not detected at all, such as keyboard, mice, USB pen drives. I have confirmed that it's not an OS issue: in EFI shell USB 2 devices are not visible when plugged in. Top and left USB ports are fine.

I'm just wondering if this is a general problem with this model, if someone else has seen this? Initially I was thinking that it was just a dodgy cable problem, but the system builder told me that all of their devices behave in this manner, they are still investigating.

We are finding this on pretty much ALL models.
One of the USB ports only works fine when we attach a USB3 device. We are now trying to find out why, if this is a Windows/Drivers thing, BIOS or just a CLEVO design which makes little to no sense. Even models like the P775 are doing the same.

My Problem was that some of my USB 3 harddisks and USB 3 pens were slow and did not copy with full USB3 speeds but only ~28MB/s (USB 2). I did a little research and i am now using the modded Intel Drivers from Fernando instead of the Microsoft from the Winraid Forums (look here).

Since then all of my problems with USB 3 devices have disappeared and are working fine now.... Maybe you wanna give it a try but be aware that during installation you won't have any USB working at all on some laptops (I suggest to install only via Teamviewer/VNC ;-) to keep the controls). Nevertheless my touchpad and Keyboard worked fine even i had not installed any USB Controllers - which let me think it may be PS2 based and not connected via USB.

The 120hz is great for fast action and fluid movement, this helps most games.

Try moving the brick (placing it the other side of the machine), if it's still coming out lots then talk to your reseller.

Clevo release the main files to the resellers who might request tweaks to the file.

Hello lucky Clevo owners, is BIOS MsHybrid and discrete graphic hardware switching present in all P650HP3 models?

The reseller I am interested in told me that it uses Optimus so discrete only mode is not possible. This is in conflict to what I understand about the Clevo laptops, that for the GTX 1060 and above models there is hardware mux for graphic switching and you should be able to do so in BIOS.

Was the tech I talk to misinformed or am I?

Also the GTX 1050 models do not have this hardware switching capability, right?

    Thanks!

Yes the entire range of that chassis can flip via hardware between optimus and dedicated mode.

None of the chassis below or above do that.

Someone asked to see my stuff today so I made an imgur album. I rarely share my set up, but have some stuff people might like here. It actually starts off with my own and my buddies custom laser engraved Clevo P65RS's from Evoc, so if anyone wanted to see what that looks like (because it's really hard to find pics online of laser engravings) check this out:

Betcha can't guess which is mine.

S/O to @Donald@HIDevolution for letting us know HID offered laser engraving well before it was on their site. I think they turned out awesome!

I love the map idea for the etching :)

Do you run software that lets you span the mouse across all the systems?

Yeah it came out really well. @Donald@HIDevolution and @Tanner@XoticPC you guys should take some pics of laser engraved systems so you can show em off on your sites. Donald knows I was super nervous about doing the engraving blind, I was literally like excited out of my mind and also terrified when my machine arrived.

I've messed around with sync software like that before. I move my laptop around a lot and have three displays already though, so I don't use my set up like that at all really. Was more to get a good photo of everything. (The map P650 isn't mine either only the one that's clearly my logo lol) I actually like a program for audio even more called airfoil that syncs every device to be speakers. So like my phone, laptops, speakers and other peoples can all play audio in sync of the same song or movie or whatever.

Hi Guys, I am thinking about a small upgrade from an 6700HQ to 7820HK. Which means I would exchange 650RS to a 650HS. Anyone tried it just to exchange the SSD? Basically it's only the CPU and chipset changing.
Another questions, how about the noise in idle of the 650HS? Any issue with the CCC?
Are there any other issues? I read for example about the USB-port problem.

Anyone having issues with wifi not working after switching airplane mode (Fn+F11) on and off? I don't think I had this issue before creators update.

Basically I press Fn+F11 twice and the wifi card is pretty much dead until I restart the pc. I can't even access change adapter settings and there is no Wi-Fi menu in Network & Internet Settings. The issue doesn't happen with airplane mode in windows 10 settings. Only the keyboard button causes the issue.

Hey John@OBSIDIAN-PC, I did notice that you are now offering the 120Hz AUO Panel for p65xHS on your website. What is your opinion about it vs the stock IPS screen? Any information on eventual limitations it has, for instance prohibiting the use of MSHybrid mode etc?

Do you know what kind of connector the stock panel uses? I would like to know if I go with the stock screen, what may be my upgrade options in the future...

    Thanks!

I'll have to see if we've got good pics, but there was this one that was a desktop and they painted over the clear panel, then etched a design through the paint and backlit it, looked wild.

Cool setup! I'm jealous :). You just need to drop that Razer keyboard for a Topre RealForce or Filco. Then you can start engraving custom keys (or buy them at Massdrop).
