It's been fixed on the 1070 versions for a month or so. Idk about the 1060 variants though.

Grab this bios. https://www.mysn.de/driver/XMG/XMG_P507_P707/BIOS/XMG_P507_1070_P707_1060_1070_BIOS_1.05.04.zip should fix your issues. It's actually newer than the one I'm using, but the previous one fixed external monitor issues, so I assume this retains this fix. The readme should tell you how to install it. I also have the 15 inch p650rs.

@Xileforce where does XMG fit into the Clevo world? Do they actually develope a BIOS, or are they getting it from Clevo.
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
They just get it from clevo and I assume stick their logo on it. Xmg is the same as Sager. They just resell and rebrand. I'm pretty sure they don't actually do any of the software.

If anyone can link the newest CCC, that'd be awesome!
The USA/Euro links are downloading an older version AFAIK.
-
Based on what people are saying, I would just stick to the older version of CCC. It works fine and doesn't have the Intel XTU in it. Unless there is some new feature of the newer CCC than let me know. Right now my biggest complaint is after two Xotic 8153-S's with different bioses, the flexicharger still doesn't work. Well it works the very first time you use it, and then never again, lol. So if Pat or any Xotic PC/ Sager reps are monitoring this thread, please, please link us to a bios where the flexicharge works. With a non swappable (click on battery), flexicharge is important to keep the battery at 80-90% if you are like me who is always plugged in, and wants my battery to last more than a year or two.

Do we know what was changed in these newer BIOS versions (after 1.05.04)? I'm gonna wait until they fix flexicharger. -
Thanks for this I had successfully removed any XTU stuff, although I haven't encountered any prob with it. But I'll just follow everyone's suggestion so I'll not ran into problems that it may cause.
Like @NomadFX said, you can remove XTU pretty easily. I have tried EVERY available CCC for my unit and there's always this XTU service. Except for .98 (latest). I'm still downloading it since yesterday!
About Throttlestop, I notice it still maintains the undervolt even after exiting the app. In FIVR, I just chose OK- Save voltages immediately, Turn ON, Save then exit. I just have to open and close TS every time I power On. Just for info those new to this (like me) because I don't like to see it occupying space in my task bar. -

Yes, deleting XTU works fine (it's under the program files directory x86 I think, then under the "Intel" directory you just delete the Extreme Tuning Utility directory. -
So, after playing around with the P650RS I have to say, the temps are amazing! I haven't done any scientific benchmarking or stress testing, but with an ambient temperature of about 21 degrees Celsius, just playing DotA 2 for four hours yielded under 50 degrees Celsius for both the CPU and GPU. I have yet to play extensively with other games, but Battlefield 1 for two hours had the temps go to around 65 degrees. I did opt for a manual (not factory) repaste with IC Diamond though.

Just picked my 650rs up today. Initial impressions are high. Except for one small minute detail. I paid for rush build and scheduled pickup. two days after I ordered the laptop was ready to be picked up. Big up to the people at HID for a fast job mostly well done. Good thing I bought a clevo BECAUSE I don't mind upgrading and what not. Anyways, I had to open her up first thing and attached the battery cable. Someone must have missed it when they did the repaste with cllu. No problem, a quick shove back into the connection and the battery is good to go. Now to settle in and see how everything else is. Maybe some games mmmm yes precious games mmmmmm.

What if I will have both Intel and Qualcomm combined, how do I route simcard connectors to M.2 slot with WAN inserted, or laptop will figure it out automatically.
I'm looking at Huawei for like 22 bucks from AliExpress instead of Qualcomm though.
So do I need extra antennas? One pair of antennas for Intel AC and one pair for LTE?
Should I just leave antennas just inside the laptop? or I don't need them at all?
And how is it gonna work? I guess sim slot is not directly linked to a certain M.2 slot or is it?Last edited: Nov 12, 2016 -
Guys i've already posted this in another thread, but only now i've realized it was the wrong one.. :/
So i repost everything here..
I own this notebook since a couple of week, in particular a Clevo P670 (RP6, i suppose) with the GTX 1060 manufactured by XMG (XMG P707).
Tonight I've started playing seriously for the first time, in particular Dirt 3 regularly downloaded from Steam.
After a couple of minutes playing, I've had a BSOD... VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (nvlddmkm.sys).
I thought it was only an isolated problem..
I tried again, same BSOD, same error after a couple of minutes..
So, reading that it could be a driver problem, I've unistalled the "standard" nVidia drivers (the one you can find on the nvidia website) and installed the drivers provided by my OEM (XMG).
This way i've been able to play for about 1 hour without problems, but right now, again BSOD
Here the info provided by the minidump:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d5nybd1n0rybr3a/Screenshot 2016-11-12 03.12.16.png?dl=0
Does someone have any advice to solve the problem? :/
The direct X are installed..
No driver or bios updates available..
I am terrified of being constrained to send it back because of an hardware problem..
PS: some "famous" temperature monitoring softwares, such as Core Temp and MSI Afterburn, totally freeze my PC every time I start the .exe...
Absolutely no feedback from the PC.. so I have to force the shutdown with the power button every time... -
No matter what I download I end up with .72 or .73 of CCC. It says .98 in download, but when I open zip its .72 or .73, not .98. I have .88 from earlier. This makes no sense.
-
Is it possible to put all the drivers, fixes, tips, and tricks in the first post of this thread so we don't have to hunt them down?

Try HWINFO64. @Phoenix has the link to it here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/phoenix-software-updates.794490/
Do you have CCC (Clevo Control Center) installed? If yes, the real question is do you have XTU installed? My system started crashing when I installed CCC and messed with the "performance" options. These change the fan profiles in bizarre ways that can lead to overheating.
Lastly you can try a clean install of the video driver. Use the " Display Driver Uninstaller" tool from Phoenix' list to do this (otherwise update doesn't do what you think it does)Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Hello, has anyone had experience repasting an 8153/650RS? I opened the bottom but when i compared it to videos of other model sager repastes it seemed much more difficult. Mainly, the gpu/cpu heatsinks and fans seem to be connected as one huge blob. Anyone have a video or any knowledge of how to remove them?

@Jared_T - Can you offer some advice here? I think you are the only one I know that has repasted a P650RS and also had very good results doing it. Any tips or pointers you can offer for those of us who have no idea what we're doing would be fantastic! =) -
Hihi. Yeap @sureoz the heatsink is one giant piece. You have to make sure that all the screws on both contact plates are loosened before attempting to lift them up. If it still wont lift, take out the screws holding the fans in. If memory serves that is what i did to make sure nothing will be holding it down. Regarding repasting, i used Gelid GC Extreme. The original paste that came was IC Diamond but it was a shoddy factory job and was pumping out resulting in little coverage on the die of the chips. I wiped it off and used the applicator that came with the GC Extreme packet. What i recommend is warming the tube up if you plan to use something like IC Diamond. It makes it easier to spread on the die if you plan to use the spreading method but YMMV. Personally i also warmed up the GC Extreme tube. The original temps on a 20 min heaven benchmark run on ultra were 80 plus celcius in less than 10 mins on the GPU . I repasted and it dropped down to at most, low to mid 70 degrees for both chips on the same benchmark AFTER i accidentally left it running for a couple of hours. I kinda forgot to stop the benchmark before i went for a frisbee game.
My advice would be to first look up what paste yield good temp drops. My personal favorite is Gelid GC Extreme. Other members on this forum use IC Diamond or Grizzly Kryonaut.
Next is the repasting. This is my own way of doing this so anyone else who has experience repasting please share how you do it =)
Clean the surface of the heatsinks and dies using isopropyal alchohol. 70% and above recommended. Or you could look for something called Articlean.
Once clean, for the CPU, put a thin line of the paste on the die. If you're using the spread method like i did, use a card of sorts like an old bookshop card to spread it evenly across the surface. Try to make sure the entire surface is covered as evenly as possible. Or you can just apply a thin line and move on to the GPU.
Regarding the GPU, my prefered method is a small blob in the middle of the die, using the pressure of mounting the heatsink to spread it across the die.
When mounting the heatsink, try your best to align the screws as best you can before putting it on the chips and screwing it in. Make sure the heatsink doesnt move around as it can mess with the paste if you have not screwed it down.
This is purely my method of repasting. It yielded me good results but i would think that this is a YMMV situation. So please keep this in mind. Anyone else who has experience repasting please add on. More help and knowledge about this is greatly appreciated =)

Liked and rep given for this. I bought a tube of Gelid a few weeks ago, but I have been a little reluctant to do the repaste having never done it before. I feel a little more confident after reading this and will give it a shot this week.FredSRichardson likes this.

Anyone got the latest Nvidia GPU drivers (also latest CCC) from Clevo's Asia Servers? Seems incredibly slow when I try to download from there (ETA 3 days+ to download).
-
FredSRichardson Notebook Groundsloth
So I installed CCC and deleted the XTU folder and disabled the corresponding service. But I notice that my temps are about 10C higher while playing Witcher. Maybe CCC on it's own messes with the fan profiles? I'm also running in discrete mode which could make a difference.
I'll try resetting the nvram to see what happens.
EDIT: Hmm... still in discrete mode. I tried to an nvram reset but I'm not sure if it worked and I set the CCC performance option back to the default "Entertainment". The temps have gone back down to below 70C. Hmm....Last edited: Nov 13, 2016 -
Why not just get the drivers from Nvidias site?
-
Got the .98 version after 2 days! But there is an error while trying to open CPU OC. After uninstall/reboot/delete leftover files/CCleaner, I install again but with error saying something like cannot install "XTU service", although the CCC installed correctly. Still cannot open CPU OC. I don't need it so I'll just let it be and never open it anyways. I still have to check what are the changes.
There is a "special" reason for this mentioned (here?) or some other forum. In short, nvidia drivers from Clevo has somewhat undergone some testing and slight modification before they publish it. Like they remove the 3D Vision Driver, added Miracast driver, etc don't know the whole details. The driver is tailor-made specifically for that unit. I, for example, is still using the Nvidia driver 369.26 from Clevo. Don't have any problems so far. Only caveat is downloading from Clevo's site is SLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO.... *checksum error.. the archive is corrupt*. What the f***!!! -
Good to know. Ill nab the drivers from Clevos site then.
By the way, anyone know where Sager/Xotic typically place the product keys of the Installed OS? Last time I bought a Sager, it didnt come with any Product Key... -
This. Was doing some testing today, latest driver from Nvidia website (375.70) seemed to be limiting my FPS to 30 when in full screen mode (Tested using Valley and Heaven), but was fine when in windowed mode. Even after manually setting V-sync off and triple buffering on. Rolled back to the Clevo provided Nvidia driver (368.83), FPS was now up at 60fps and fluctuating (like it should be).
Normally I'd be happy to stay with the old driver, but need the latest driver to play BF1. -
As far as I know it will only work on the uppermost M.2 slot. At least that's what is designated in the manual and blueprints. I think this is because the antenna wires only reach so far so you have to connect them anyways. Also I'm not completely sure if the antennas support 4G LTE/HSPA+ unless it was specifically manufactured that way. You are free to try, but I would go the safe route and get a USB SIM card reader.
Also be aware that there are three types of connectors to the M.2 standard: "B key", "M key", and "B&M key". -

Guys, undervolting this thing is the best decision I've ever had. 37º CPU 49º GPU idle. Never again reaching 80º under maximum load, staying in the 60s for mid gaming (WoW, HS...) and 70s for maximum gaming (Witcher 3). I just need to fix that annoying backlight bleeding and install an updated BIOS that fixes the awful fan profile. I was thinking in repasting, but having kryonaut and these temps, it's not worth the effort just to reduce a few degrees. I'll do it when the paste starts underperforming
-
Very good. Nice of you
-
Yes, those temps are amazing
Do you undervolt only the CPU ? How many mV ? And what is un BIOS/EC/vBIOS version ? -
@vicyuste1 same experience as me. I used TS to undervolt CPU and cache by -150mv. I have yet to hit 70C on the GPU during gameplay, although I do not have Witcher 3 or other super intensive games.

@NomadFX - CCC has the large buttons on the main interface for "Entertainment", "Performance", "Power Saving" and "Quiet" (right to left).
I fully remove XTU after installing, but I noticed clicking one of these buttons impacts the way the fans work even without XTU. Do you know what these are doing? I had selected "Performance" and my temperatures went up in Witcher 3 by about 10C. I selected "Entertainment" again and reflashed my nvram (I hope - I held Fn+D and power but I didn't get a message that I thought I did the last time). Anyway, temps are back to below 72C.
Any insight into what's going on would be great. I haven't tried the 0.98 version of CCC yet - this is with the prior version. -
