So, I flashed Prema BIOS succesfully and now when I try to install the vBIOS, I run update.bat as stated in the Readme file but I get an error that says: 'No NVIDIA display adapter found'' What do I do now :) @-Jinx-

    I haven't flashed vBios yet....still on stock.

But last I heard you need to run GPU-Z and keep it running before updating vBIos due to the fact that the desktop is running on iGPU

So I did as you told me and it recognised my card but told me to uninstall any nvidia drivers so I did, rebooted, ran gpu-z and ran update.bat again, it did some things on the console and then terminated. :) Is it done now or what do I do, install the nvidia driver again? Anyone have a suggestion? :)

Yeah you should be golden now. Just get 344.75 and OC to your hearts content.

Take care if you overvolt though. You can fry your card with that.

Just a question...why do you giys go so low on memory(+200/+225)....for me the sweetspot seems to be +445 on memory...anything above or bellow that and my scores drop.

    @derkeysersoze

Did you overvolt your system? If not maybe it's because the core(being overclocked more than mine) sucks more juice and not enough is left for the memory.

Then again maybe I just won the silicon lottery :)

Most people do use the Intel card and also correlates as to why when issues are reported you see more issues with Intel than Bigfoot. Intel remains my recommendation as they are much more reliable with driver updates than BF tends to be. In my experience they tend to be the most reliable option and percentage wise very few issues with the card altogether.

Hello crowd. I have been reading this forum thread for a few weeks now and I figured it was time that I join the conversation because I just ordered my first Clevo. I went with the Clevo P650SE from Prostar. I know that isn't the most popular distributor on this page but it was a good price and their reviews seemed decent enough.

I got a free upgrade to a 256 P600 SSD. Went with the IPS 1080p display due to the lack of quality reviews on the 4k panels. They seemed mix. And I figured if I ever did want 4k (most likely in a year or two) that I could just buy an external monitor and do it that way.

I went with no OS to save a few bucks as I have a MSDN account that I can get an OS from. I read a previous post in which someone was having trouble getting all of the drivers to work on a machine that didn't have an OS installed. Is this a common problem?

Seeing how this is my first "customizable" laptop, and definitely first that didn't come installed with an OS, are there any tips that I should know? Any order of steps that are preferable to take when I finally receive my machine to set it up?

Either way just wanted to reach out to the community and let people know it's one stronger now :)
    Hope to see some replies.
Thanks for all of the information provided in this thread, and I simply cannot wait!!!

Hey there, can anybody give me a quick hint for Throttlestop please?
I just want to disable Throttling while gaming (BF4) with a good amount of Heat headroom left.
And, is there a function to just search this Thread? When i use the search at the top it searches the whole forum which is super inacurate :/

    Thx

Yeah I never install GFE. It's very bloated, adds a bunch of background processes and startup items, uses a chunk of RAM and CPU, and increases boot time. I don't need automatic driver updates or game optimization, prefer to do all updating and tweaking myself. For local recording I use MSI Afteburner instead of ShadowPlay. I don't stream.

I'm trying to flash my BIOS with PREMA MOD, but no matter what I do, I can't get the system to boot off my USB 2.0 Flash drive.

I followed the PREMA instructions carefully, I created a bootable USB drive using Rufus using MS-DOS (not FreeDos - or would that be better?) and copied all the BIOS files to the root of the USB drive.

I've disabled Secure Boot in the Bios, as I understand this is necessary?

I then turn off the computer and restart and spam F7 - 90% of the time the machine will boot straight into Windows, when it doesn't I get the screen where I can select the USB drive to boot from, but nothing happens, it just boots into Windows.

Where am I going wrong? Thanks

I did, I have the USB drive as the first item on the list in the Bios, the machine still boots into Windows every time :-(

Am I missing something obvious? Should I try to installing FreeDos on the boot USB drive?

Can I use a USB 3.0 USB drive or even an SSD drive? If not, I'm running out of options, unless I buy another new USB driive (have only just bought 2 Sandisk drives, one USB 2.0, one USB 3.0!)

    Welcome
Welcome on board, I own the same model :) Mine came FreeDOS too but I didn't have any problems with drivers. Just get the latest ones from the clevo website and you are ready to go :)

I think you prepared the flash drive right, but you didn't say anything about disabling UEFI boot that's the problem I think :) Make sure you don't turn off the computer and start, but directly restart from windows. First go into BIOS with F2, disable boot logo and UEFI boot(at least that's what I did). Then follow the instructions in the readme file very carefully, take a photo of it with your phone or something and do exactly as written. You have to choose your keyboard layout at first and you have like 2-3 seconds to input your choice. Just choose english to avoid any problems. Hope this helps :)

In addition to disabling secure boot, you need to go to the boot tab and disable UEFI boot.

Edit: Nvmd, saw this was answered in the previous post...

I just want to confirm that I installed 345.20 and I can now use software to overclock, so the vBIOS I posted earlier is both newer than the one Prema has on his website, and it is not OC-locked.

Okay great, I know have Prema Bios installed! :)

Can I re-enable UEFI and Secure Boot now?

Also, how do I now change my RAM settings so that it will run at 2133Mhz - I can't see an option in either the Bios nor XTU to do this, but may not be looking in the right place

Not just can, but must if you want Windows to work again.

I'm not sure about the extra settings, I'm waiting for the Premamod to catch up to 306/306 before I try it myself.

I am also waiting on PremaMod to catch up to 306/306. BTW, the locked down drivers won't matter b/c of the mod, correct?

No, even with the mod vBIOS you won't be able to OC with the locked down drivers, though hopefully this won't be a problem much longer. What the mod does is let you OC past the 135 limit if your drivers allow you to OC at all.

Yes the lock will be on the vbios side instead by the looks of things which gets in the way of the unlocked vbios much less.

The first drivers with the lock removed again should be in march.

Just got my NP8652 in from XoticPC. Upgraded from an MSI GT60 20c and I'm quite impressed by the quality of this laptop so far. Loving how much thinner and lighter it is in comparison (msi was 1.7" at 8lbs). After reading about how great the sharp display is, i decided to get it but my only concern is how grainy the screen looks (reminds me of the AG coating on my u2410 monitor). I'm starting to get used to it and it only really shows on lighter colors but I'd like to know if it is normal for this panel.

Okay, I found where to change the memory speed in the Prema Mod Bios, and have now got it running (and stable) at 2133Mhz:

The setting "Memory Frequency Limiter" is where I set this in the Bios (the screenshot is before I applied the change, which is why it says the current frequncy is 1867Mhz):

What I can't figure out is how to change the timings - the default timings for Corsair Vengeance 2133Mhz DDR3L are meant to be 11/11/11/27 not 11/11/11/31 (see: http://www.ramexperts.com/ddr3/cors...-pin-ddr3l-so-dimm-2133mhz-laptop-memory.html), but the Bios doesn't let me change these, nor to tweak the speed a little more than 2133Mhz only in larger steps e.g.to 2400Mhz - does anyone know how to do this? I know others have done this! Thanks

Don't know, just hitting "Enter" on the selected timing in bios allowed me to change it. I did not investigate that much as my sticks were poor (1866, no luck on tightening timings)

I'm very happy with the purchase, I received it almost 3 months ago.

However I'm experiencing some weird stuff with the battery level indicator (W8.1) which doesn't show remaining using time.

What should I do for reactivating that info?

Batterybar glitches switching power profiles when plugged in/on battery. For instance, if I turn laptop off when plugged in (and thus on high performance) when I get to school and turn it on it doesn't switch back to power saver. Powerplan assistant does do it correctly and looks a lot cleaner in my opinion

Okay, tried running Firestrike again using Nvida 344.75 drivers but no OCing (apart from RAM at 2133Mhz 11/11/11/27 - but that's stock for this RAM) I got these scores:

    6580 overall
    7515 graphics
    9618 Physics
    2734 Combined

    Sound okay?

I got a slightly better score using the latest drivers - if not OCing, are these going to be better then?

Alternatively, if just using a mild GPU OC (within Nvidia vBios limits), is it okay to leave the GPU overclocked all the time?

BTW I needed to do a fresh install of Win 8.1 yesterday and reinstalled all the drivers from the XMG Driver USB key in the correct order (and performed Windows updates), but I can't seem to get the fingerprint reader to do anything.

I did install EGIS WBF Driver, but can't figure out how to set up any finger print scans - is there an application I need to start? Swiping the finger print scanner itself doesn't seem to do anything. It did work on the initial Windows install I had when I received the computer, so the hardware is okay. Do I need to download some additional software?
