But he was asking for it to be done while he was gaming, I believe. If he was stressing a single core, it would have clocked up to his single core max frequency anyway XD

I heard some people using PK-3, but I and other users that have tested multiple pastes have not done that in a round-up, especially with mobile hardware. So I can't comment yes or no.

If you keep chasing the "easy", you're going to run into some issues. Sometimes you just gotta buy some paste and try a couple times till it works right.
GPU is a dot in center. CPU is a line across the die, as it is long and rectangular and a pea or dot will not work.

Okay, thanks. Does anyone have a photo of how much paste you need for the line of paste on the CPU?

BTW can you re-use the original thermal pads for the vRAM?

Not having much luck achieving stable OC settings above what I am currently using. Anyone using the larger power brick using the P65XSG managed any higher? What clocks and voltages in Nvidia Inspector?

Yea. Eurocom is the cheapest route. I used my Paypal Credit account and everything was handled by Paypal. Their fee was built into the exchange rate as it as slightly higher than market rate. But regular credit card companies usually charge around 3%. Most travel rewards cards have free foreign transaction fee tho', the Capital One VentureOne card come to mind.

When you place an order, put it in the Note section that you are a student and requesting a 10% discount. After you place an order, you'll get an order confirmation email, just reply to it with a picture of your current student ID. They will adjust the price of your order to reflect the 10% discount. Profit!

Yes. Pick the ground shipping outside Canada. Although I suspect that if you ask they may even give you free ground shipping since it actually ships from NY. YMMV.

Don't forget to quote and pay in Canadian Dollars for even more saving. Go Canada! :D

It's the exact same machine, just different branding. Plus Eurocom uses ICD so it's probably better than stock Sager. :)

Just a few minutes after I placed the order from Eurocom, I received a call from them claiming that I cannot purchase using CAD. When I mentioned your order, they said it's a promotion ended last week. LOL, I will wait to see what my new quote is. Has anyone else encounter the same problem?

Try to email John Shore of Eurocom. His email is [email protected] with your order detail. He might just put your order through. YMMV again.

Yeah. There are guides that will show you step by step, but basically, you grab the Windows download from the internet, and use a freeware tool to create an ISO image on a USB drive. Then you plug that drive into the new computer, and it should detect it on startup; from there, it should be simple to install.

I'm having an annoying problem where by my biometric (finger print) scanner doesn't work if my computer has gone to sleep. I use it to log onto windows- so it not working means I have to reboot my lappy. It only happens sometimes (50% of the time).

    Anyone else having this issue?

The trick was to order in Canadian Dollar. With the exchange rate, it is actually cheaper than ordering with US Dollar. But I think Eurocom might have caught on and started to reject order ship to US in Canadian Dollar. :)

There is no way they can reject the student discount. It's outlined on their website.

But they can reject you paying in CAD with an American credit card. In that case, you will need a Canadian mail buddy.

Yeah I was in the same boat looking at the reintroduced Alienware 15 but it is a sore disappointment. The build quality has really tanked and Alienware are now more akin to beats audio than anything else. I got the P650SG instead and have no regrets. You can get a much more powerful P650SE than an Alienware 17 for the same price.

Permanent bulge because of flex??? Will it get really so bad???

At 5:30 you see a huge gap between lid and palm rest, when it's closed. It implies that frequent opening/closing of the lid will produce a permanent bulge at the spot where you grab it.

Simple. Dude's review sample was a lemon. It happens. I can't replicate any of that on my P650SG. Solid build quality. Fit and finish is excellent.

I really wanted to get the P650SE it's just a little more expensive than the base model Alienware 17 after a coupon. I'm trying to work out a better discount. If I got the P650SE is Eurocom still the way to go or Xotic? Going to try some more haggling with Dell tomorrow. Got some good advice from someone else on the forum

I ordered mine at Eurocom back on 13th march. I picked the 4870HQ which seems to be causing a lot of troubles to them, indeed I am still waiting for it. They said that everything is ready but they are waiting for the CPU from Intel (isn't that soldered to the mobo by Clevo???). Each week they move the expected shipping date to the week later. I have been proposed to downgrade to the 4720HQ which I wouldn't like, especially if it's just a matter of waiting a few days more...

I have to say that talking with them is not easy. I keep my messages short and direct, but their answer are never really complete. I had to compute the student discount by my self, and asked more times if that was the right sum for the bank transfer (which I promptly did). Now with their proposed downgrade I cannot understand if they will pay me back the difference and how much will that be (that's also preventing me from giving green light for this).

I transferred almost 3K EUR to them and now I'm starting to regret it because of the way they are managing the situation. I hope that my pc will come before Broadwell comes out...

I have read multiple times in the Notebookcheck reviews, that the 48xx and higher numbered CPUs cause significantly more heat and wattage (not sure where it was mentioned, but either one of the P34, P35, P650SX). Of course the CPU is stronger, but I'm not sure how much, and if it's worth the hassle. I'd personally prefer the slower 4720 because of the reports, though I have no first hand experience on it. Maybe others can tell more about it.

I ordered my P651SE from Prostar and needless to say that so far I absolutely love this machine. My only gripe would probably be the rough, sharp edges on my wrists when I type for an extended period of time, however this can be fixed by simply using an external keyboard.

Why I am posting however is to see if anyone else has this same problem as I do and maybe I didn't notice it or I did it.

I opened the beast up to drop more RAM in it. I could only reach the top slots meaning not under the keyboard so there is only 16GB in it as of right now. Everything seemed to go fine, though getting the lid back on was a little tricky. Today however I just noticed that above the charger port, there looks to be a separation or bowing in the plastic. It almost looks slightly bubbled creating a little bit of space in between the machine and the plastic.

What I am not sure about is if maybe I just didn't notice it before, or if it's something that I caused by opening it. There is no give in it, meaning when I try to push it back in to look uniform, it won't budge... which leads me to believe that this is how it is supposed to be and perhaps I didn't notice it. But the logical side of me says there is no way it would be designed this way.

So I ask has anyone noticed something similar?

You might have put the bottom shield on wrong. The trick is you tilt the panel a bit down ward toward the charging port, slide it in, then lower the rest of the panel starting from the back (charging port end) to the front. Open it back up and try that. ;)

Thanks for the timely response, I will give that a try. I am hoping I didn't warp it at all as it was a pain to open the first time. I guess that is what a warranty is for eh?!?! I absolutely love this machine though. Perfect blend of power and sleekness.
