SIM card is used if you have 3G or LTE module installed. Do you?
Unless you mixing SIM card slot with memory card slot.

Where did you get your computer from? I believe the SIM card is a manufacturer option, so your original re seller may have opt'd no on it.

It should be open if its available

Oh, sorry about that, my question was stupid. It seems that I don't have a 3G or LTE module installed. Where do I get one of those anyway? Thanks for the swift reply.

Well, I bought it from you guys, and I don't really think I saw you guys offer it, I would've added it otherwise.

It is a factory option, so in some cases where it wasn't specified, there will be no sim card slot soldered on the motherboard. The laptop can't make use of the 3G or LTE module if this is missing. You can find this out by opening the laptop or shining a torch into the slot to see if you can see the pins. If you have the slot on the motherboard then you can go ahead and buy a module. Check out mysn.co.uk for the model number of the two card options, then search google or eBay.

If you got it from us it should be open. The picture I provided is from a NP8651 which is the P650SE. On yours the port to the left of the USB ports is blocked? Can you press on it to make it spring out?

Thanks a lot dude, I'll check when I've got enough time. =)

Well, it really is blocked. I tried to poke it using a hairclip and slid inside but the soft-ish rubber blocking the port didn't go out. I can't really send it to you guys so you could check it since I just made my uncle buy this then ship it to where I am. Will I be able to use it if I were to remove the back panel and pull it the block from the inside?

Can you shoot me your order number and if possible a pic of it. You do need 5 posts to send PM's which you are 1 short. You can get that one more quickly or click on my name in my signature and it will open up an email to me.

Thanks for that, you can edit your post to delete your order number if you'd like. I will shoot an email to Sager to see what's going on and let you know what they reply.

If there is a piece of foam or rubber in that location, it most likely means the sim hardware is omitted.

I can't imagine the cost savings would be much, unless of course there is a lot more to it, such as antenna wiring, additional routes on motherboard, or something else.

I would have thought standardisation to be more cost effective.

We did hear back from Sager and it seems the one we did a video review was actually on the err. Per Sager " Sager does not carry the 3G modem option. There is not hardware to support SIM cards."

I tested an empty SIM card adapter and it fits into my Eurocom M5 Pro.

Not sure if it actually gets 3G, but it doesn't matter to me.

So just to be clear, I can't put a SIM card in it even if I were to buy a LTE or 3G module?

I remember reading about this a while ago, but I can't seem to find the answer to it (I'm probably search for the wrong things). If I were to go with the Sharp 4k panel, does Optimus still work?

And there is no way to get one from sager that can support the sim card?

Another question I have is why doesn't the 8652-s have the option to change screens like the 8652 does ?

The hardware support has to be selected as an option during the build at Clevo it can not be added later, so unfortunately they can not support it by the slot. You may want to check with your carrier to see if they have a USB option and can go that route.

The "S" models do have a few limitations for hardware options. If you want to get it with one of the 4k options let us know which one and we'll ask Sager if they will do so per special request.

XMG / MySN are investigating this now, but from their latest information looks like it's actually due to some software, rather than the hardware, they're just trying to track down which software is causing the problem (possibly Razer Synapse). This is a relief, as my machine came with a good CPU and GPU if the benchmark and OCing tests I've been running are anything to go by, and was hoping that I wouldn't have to risk a possibly inferior replacement.

I am very interested in a NP8652-S with the Sharp 4k screen.

If it is not possible, I'll probably order the non-S version and buy more RAM and a SSD later. The "-S" version makes those upgrades cheap enough that there is little motivation to buy them aftermarket.

I'm going to be serious: if you can't walk with a total of 10 pounds or so of gear on your back, you really should do some exercise. Maybe the laptop will be good exercise for you! =D

If anything, you'll probably have less back problems from walking around with that much weight. 30lbs isn't all that much. Unless you already have back problems or bone density problems.

Kilograms, please. Ah, no, joking. But honestly, the P750ZM looks very appealing.

Does Clevo have plans for the 13-14" market? An aluminium "P630SE" sounds really cool - 2 M.2 slots, a HDD slot, GTX 965M, and a plethora of screen options. And all this in a nice metallic package three-quarters as thin and as light as the W230S series... I'm drooling already.

Well the W230SD still has socketed CPUs and the 960M, so it should suit that fine @SRSR333. Aside from that, only their new N series comes to mind, but I don't know if there was a 13" of it offhand and I'm honestly too lazy to look right now XD.

Overclock 860M in the W230SS by 79 MHz and you have yourself a W230SD

Please. My overclocks far exceed that (see sig). So technically my 860M is more powerful than a 960M stock. Is there any reason why Clevo didn't stick a 965M in the W230SD and opted for a 960M instead? Is the TDP for the 965M that much higher than the 960M?

Because it's a drop in replacement, the 965M requires an entirely new motherboard and cooling solution. It would also land you with a soldered CPU.

If you're going for better RAM than stock anyway, why not go for Corsair Vengeance 2133Mhz Cas 11 RAM? The price is not much more than 1600Mhz RAM. You need to flash the Bios to the Prema Mod one to get it to run higher than 1866Mhz, though, but this is pretty trivial.

Other thoughts - personally I find the noise of internal spinning-platter drives in laptops annoying and also find even 7200rpm drives painfully slow after using SSDs, so just went for a single large (1 TB) Samsung 850 Evo SSD, which wasn't actually that expensive. Might run a little cooler and use a little less power too than an SSD/HDD combo

One other thing - if you have a choice of surface finishes, IMHO the bead-blasted (matte, but with sparkly bits) finish looks much nicer than the brushed finish, but I guess that's a matter of taste.

That is extremely subjective - the 850 EVO 1TB is seven hundred bucks where I live. SSD for OS and applications, and HDD for data is still the most cost-effective combination, I feel. I can put up with X-Plane 10 taking 3 minutes to launch fully, running off my HDD.

For me to specify this as an option in my XMG P505 was £343 (this includes 20% VAT i.e. UK sales tax) which is $529, but assuming you don't have to pay sales tax where you live(?), this would only be $423 without
