quick update: the 970 evo plus runs plenty hot (75c), I had to run the fans at max to keep it in low 60s which makes it very loud. so I slapped an aluminum heatsink on the ssd, drilled some holes on the plastic casing above the ssd and bought a laptop cooling pad. now the temp staying at 55-56c. not pretty but very effective.

Hello everyone. I got a p651sg and was wondering if there is a way to control the fans a little bit better than with the clevis tool. For some reason the fans ramp up on my unit even if I only browse the web.
Unfortunately tools like afterburner don't work with my unit.

Around 85-90°C under load I would say. However with light tasks temps are in the 80-85 range and fans are still ramping up

Can you use fn + 1 to go full fan speed?

Setting fans on Max speed works and this obviously lowers the temps but I want the system to become less noisy.

I know the temps are quite high especially since there is no high load.

Could maybe renewing the thermal paste help me? Or is there a way to undervolt the CPU and GPU?

So it's the fan ramping behaviour? You could look to use intel xtu to undervolt the CPU.

Will try to :) Is there a similar tool that works for the gpu? Afterburner seems to get no access to the settings.

It only can do the modern ones with the clock curve. Otherwise it gets tricky.

Oh curve is completely fine. I just thought since no numbers are displayed afterburner has absolutely no access :) Thanks I'll give it a go

If a curve comes up with ctrl f then that's the main thing and gives full control.

Hi! 2 quick questions for my Clevo p65_p67sg:

    1) My keyboard is absolutely borked. Does anyone have a link to a replacement?

    2) My screen is rubbish (60hz 1080p). Is it possible to upgrade? Does anyone have a link?

    Thanks!

    Your reseller may have one.

Screens can be swapped, have you tried overclocking yours? The main thing to watch out for are the connectors in use. Hardware info will say exactly what panel you have.

60Hz 1080p will usually be on a 30pin edp connector. You should be able to get up to 120Hz 1080p with the same connector, but for 144Hz you will also need to upgrade your connector to a 40pin (will need to be specific for that mobo - best bet from your reseller), however note you might lose the ability to control the backlight brightness.

Thanks guys! I don't have a reseller, I bought this laptop 5 years ago and it's discontinued.

120Hz would be fine but where would I get that screen? Also how do you OC the screen? That sounds pretty awesome.

Also replacement keyboard still needed, this laptop is falling apart haha

I always forget which around this time had the MUX for the GPU, do you have the option to switch between dedicated and optimus mode?

I don't know what that is so I'll say no. It's the 980m

Check the bios, would be in there. If not look in to intel custom resolutions.
