Can never assume these sorts of things. You could look to reflash your bios/ECU. Also check fitment is tight on the heatsink.

    Hi everyone :)

Finally I finished school, passed all of my exams and thank god have time to spend on my P650SE after years <3 After being absent for so long, I have some questions if you don't mind.

Although there are no problems with the laptop, I always like to keep my electronics up-to-date, so I'd like to update my BIOS, EC and vBIOS if it's possible. My current versions are:

    BIOS: 1.03.09PM v2 / EC: 1.03.10 (PREMA FTW )
vBIOS: 84.04.1F.00.F1 [MODIFIED] (again, PREMA FTW )
I saw that the latest official BIOS and EC versions from CLEVO are 1.05.01 and the changelog only says 'Windows 10 support'. Is there a mod from Prema with this (1.05.01) version available?

If yes, would someone kindly tell me how to get it, please? If no, would you recommend me to flash the newer stock BIOS/EC from CLEVO/my local distributor, or to stay on my current version? Is the new BIOS worth going stock?

The same goes for vBIOS. I don't really know if there's a newer version available or how to get it.

A big thank you to this great community again, as you helped me solve numerous problems years ago and I'd be really happy if someone could enlighten me on these subjects this time around because I'm lucky I still have an enthusiast in me left after med school :) Thanks to you all in advance :)

Only worth flashing if you are having issues normally.

Another question if you don't mind: Which version of the Control Center is recommended for BIOS/EC versions of 1.03.09/1.03.10 and 1.05.01? I read somewhere that it depends on your BIOS/EC number, not sure if it's true though. And where will I be able to find them?

I am Looking forward a solution to boost the fans. As said preciouly GPU fans are loud sometimes but CPU stray quiet I want make them blow heat on full !

I really appreciate your help thank you very much in advance

Edit : Cpu hit 98° and fan stay slow Anyone know a way to test if its software issue or hardware ??

Try manually ramping all the fans up with 'Fn+1'. That should max all the fans in the notebook no matter the temperature. If the CPU fan still doesn't spin well, your problem is with hardware in my opinion. Try opening the bottom of the notebook and clean the heatspreader fins and the fans. There may be some dust buildup. You could also repaste your CPU while you're at it. If it still doesn't work, I'd contact my reseller for the issue.

Hello everyone, I have a P560SE, today I tried to update my BIOS because of some erros with my video card. Something went wrong during the flashing and now my screen doesn't boot up, my screen stays completely black and the logo doesn't appear. Mashing F7 and F2 also don't produce anything.

Does any one know if there is a way to restore the original BIOS, or update it correctly from where I am?

Hello thanks for your reply, well I already cleaned on repast few days ago.

I hit Fn+1 and surprise ! What a relieve the fans went on max both for GPU and CPU ! Long time that I have note ear the Cpu fans blowing like that !

Now I have to find a way to make then works on its own when temperature goes up without Fn+1

    Thank you

Then a clip on tool to the bios chip and reflash would be the way. It would need a hardware programmer.

    Hello,
I just bought an Asus VG249Q, the one with IPS 1080p 144hz panel, and I want to connect it to my P650SE.
Does the laptop support 144hz at 1080p through HDMI, what about DisplayPort? And also since G-Sync also seems to work on it, is there any way to use the internal GTX970M for that, since from my knowledge the HDMI/DP ports are connected to the iGPU and not the dGPU. Maybe some BIOS option exists to disable Optimus/iGPU and use the 970m for the video output instead (Prema BIOS). Thanks :)

1080p 144Hz will work through DisplayPort. No ability to disable Optimus on any video outputs, so no G-Sync.

Thank you for your help. @yrekabakery . I noticed that with only HDMI I can go to an up of 120hz on the Clevo, but something is strange in that I have a Thinkpad T540p also, with an i7-4710MQ and only the iGPU (so no dedicated one), but in there through HDMI I can select up to 144hz.

EDIT: The HDMI of the Thinkpad dock, if this matters.

I can't discern any visual difference regarding the overall image look when changing between 120hz and 144hz, also everything stays the same in the Intel Control Panel. I think the docking station itself somehow handles this.

Bit of a long shot, but if anyone has a Hackintosh setup running on this laptop with OpenCore, I would really appreciate seeing your config. I'm trying to boot Catalina but I keep running into kernel panics when it attempts to load the HD4600 integrated graphics. Spent the last 2 days trying to diagnose with no success.

Edit: Got it figured out, these are the correct values for the i7-4720HQ variant. Hope it helps someone.

Add these under DeviceProperties > Add > PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0)

    AAPL,ig-platform-id - 0600260A - (Data)
    device-id - 12040000 - (Data)
    framebuffer-patch-enable - 1 - (Number)
    framebuffer-stolenmem - 00003001 - (Data)
    framebuffer-fbmem - 00009000 - (Data)

You also need to create an SSDT-dGPU-Off.aml file and add it under EFI > OC > ACPI in order to disable the GTX 970M.

For SMBIOS I am using MacBook11,2 as it seems to be the closest match in terms of specification.

Hi, I'm having problems with the keyboard on my XMG P505 (= Clevo P650SG, I think). I removed it for cleaning, but cannot reconnect the smaller of the two ribbon cables to the MB.
I'm referring to the orange cable, as seen in linked photos. There doesn't seem to be any mecanism on the MB to hold it in place. I push it into what looks like the right spot, but it won't go any further, and then falls back out.

I can get the larger blue ribbon cable securely connected, but the keyboard doesn't always detect input. And the USB keyboard I connected works perfectly.

    Can anyone help?

Thanks for the reply. Could you be more specific? The plastic tab of the ribbon cable, or of the connector on the mobo? In either case, do you know of any solutions?

my other thread was closed because apparently:
"Prema's work is only available if you purchase a laptop through a Prema partner. Sharing links to downloads is considered pirating and as such the posts will be removed."
no one sells a 6 year old laptop with a gtx970m and prema mod on it ... i can understand when its for the new 10 or 20 series but an old gtx970 ... wtf

OK, thanks. But I just noticed that the orange cable runs to the word "color". So is this cable just for backlighting? If that's the case, shouldn't the keyboard theoretically work fine without it connected if the blue ribbon is securely connected?

I don't really care about backlighting, so is it just a matter of buying a new kb?

OK, so then there's a problem with the keyboard. Before buying a replacement, is it possible that a total disassembly + cleaning would solve the problem? I did a quick search for Clevo keyboard disassembly guides, but couldn't find much.
I guess it could be the ribbon cable connection, but I've unseated and securely reseated several times.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Fair enough. In that case I'll have to buy a replacement. How should I go about that? Do I need to search for the exact model number on the back of the keyboard, or will other models work?

I need a replacement CMOS battery, one that comes with the correct wire attached.

My reseller went out of business a while back. Can anyone recommend another that could help me with this part? Amazon hasn’t been any help.

Part number is 6-23-22015-TE0. If you search google you can find some store selling it.

You can also replace the battery by unsoldering and reattaching a new one to the current wires.

I’m only finding one store selling that part number on google and they want to charge about $100 just for shipping alone.

I’m in the United States. Can any one help me find a reseller of this battery in the US or one that charges reasonable shipping?

I'm able to use the Samsung 970 evo plus as boot drive with this laptop after adding a nvme module in the stock bios following this guide: https://www.win-raid.com/t871f50-Gu...rt-for-all-Systems-with-an-AMI-UEFI-BIOS.html . r/w speed will be limited to around 1650MB.

As I didn't have the bios file, I used the "universal BIOS backup toolkit 2.0" to make a bios backup within windows10. I used the "MMTool 4.50.0.23" to open the backup file, insert the "NvmExpressDxe_4.ffs" and save the bios after that. now use any method to flash this modded bios with the existing bios. after that enable uefi in bios setting and boot from windows 10 setup USB drive, nvme drive will show up in windows setup, and install windows.
