May I ask why you don't simply order the 4K Sharp from the get-go? Much less hassle, surely?
-

Yep i can confirm it's for both 3k and 4K an eDP 4 lanes cable (40 pins). Actually anything higher than 1080p requires 4 lanes .

I can understand your nervousness and like you I always triple check when ordering something so precious! However as bigspin said it is likely they will take the payment on dispatch since it's more hassle for companies to refund the money for failed orders.

In any case been following the forums for a while and after the obligatory research over the last couple weeks have finally decided (I think!) to go for the Clevo P650 from either Scan or Schenker ...called both of them to check out their sales/customer service and both seemed pleasant enough. PCSpecialist did not answer the SALES phone call! My question is ..who should I take my business to? Who do you trust the most? I must say that when I called Schenker they said they have the 980m chasis in stock and could assemble and deliver in a week which is making me lean towards them My question is ..who should I take my business to? Any thoughts?

Are there any resellers offering the 4k screen outside of Myth? Seems to be a wide variety of info if the 1080p IPS screen can be upgraded later to a 3k or 4k screen; We should update some info on the front page of this thread once we definitely know.
-

Yeah Pcspecialist are quite busy i think, they need more guys out there ^^.

What you could've done is live chat, (however it takes some minutes for someone to enter the live chat session)

For those that missed this before purchasing in NA (unless you purchased from Mythlogic). My current order with Power Notebooks still has the Sharp 4K panel so I'm good there.flamy likes this.

Intel XTU is what you need for CPU, download here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24075&lang=eng
This is a bit dated, but still applies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRtFy7FpQF4

The fan speed setting is for CPU only. GPU cannot be controlled.
-

But the speeds operate independently? (Eg. the GPU fans can be spinning hard while CPU fan is standing still and vice versa).
-
 @ Sebi97 :

I can say that my fans definately work independently. If I start Furmark the GPU-Fan cranks up. When I stop it and start p95 the GPU-Fan slows down and the CPU-Fan goes up.

 @ all :

I'd like to have updated my mini-review here --> http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...51-np8652-owner-s-lounge-208.html#post9856295
 but only 6 pics allowed.
So here are some FarCry4 results :
FHD, nvidia-settings except using 2xTXAA, 20°C, no cooler, flat on table, 1 hour playing warmup :

FPS rarely under 40. For me that is fine. With 4xTXAA I get about 10 FPS less. With ultra-settings I have about 20 FPS more, seldom under 60.
It looks gorgeous btw. Last edited: Dec 7, 2014IKAS V, Rick_in_ICT, flamy and 1 other person like this. Last edited: Dec 7, 2014IKAS V, Rick_in_ICT, flamy and 1 other person like this.

Thank you. Is the bottom of the laptop metal or plastic? How is the touchpad quality? How is the fingerprint reader? How is the battery life on power saver at ~40% brightness with light usage? How do you find the overall thickness/weight? Do you think it'd be a suitable laptop for college? Thanks!
-
jeanjackstyle Notebook EvangelistNice cou speeds. Do you think the several peaks in couple speeds are correlated with the peaks in the package power plot?
-
The bottom panel is plastic as it is supposed to be.
No complaints about the touchpad, I really like the seperate mousebuttons.I have to get used to every new touchpad, but it feels very good so far.
Haven't tested the fp-sensor or battery life yet but it seems with light usage 4 hrs could be realistic.
The weight is 2780gr for my config. I wish it was a little lighter but for a machine like this it's ok. The thickness is good.
For college ? Well, if you want to play games in your lessons, you couldn't have a better laptop

Would you say it's to heavy to carry daily to class?
-
For ME it would be ok, I travel a lot. But try it yourself, put 6 lbs in your bag and carry them

 Hey Guys,

does anybody know where I can buy the Killer N1525 AC seperately? as already mentioned, mysn doesn't have them on stock, so I would like to buy it by myself. Unfortunately i cannot find any supplier for this card? help would be much appreciated.

 @Praedaedae
Thanks so much for your first impressions! Really appreciate it.
-

Is the CPU fan control firmware/software only available in the XMG P505 Pro or is that software found in all P65XSG's from any reseller? Having the ability to stop the fans randomly spinning up during idle/web browsing usage scenarios would be amazing.

Software made by Clevo, so availability will be universal.Cakefish likes this.
-
The 1525AC isn't out quite yet in general quantities, we will offer it as soon as we can get more than a couple validation samples
-
Thanks for the Far Cry 4 details! Looking like I made the right purchase

On this laptop being suitable for college, I find 6 lbs pretty manageable to carry to and from class. It's definitely not a "brick", but some people really prefer having something very light like the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro. The most important thing is to do your research on lighter/ slimmer gaming models and weigh the pros and cons based on your own tastes/ situation. My current laptop is about 7 pounds, which for me isn't too bad, but not ideal. Any more would be definitely be too much.

Considering the P651SG is a noticeable improvement over my current laptop (15-20 percent lighter, about 25 percent thinner), I decided to go for it instead of letting myself get tempted by the slimmer offerings. But the GS60 seems to be very serviceable if you're looking for something sleeker

Woop woop woop woop woop woop!!!

GS60 is not serviceable, and can void warranty just by opening the bottom panel. It requires disassembling the entire laptop and removing motherboard to replace RAM or mSATA drives or repaste the CPU/GPU. And it is no easy feat.
-
Thanks for the info. Do you also ship to germany?
-
 It's my pleasure.
I as well think you and Cakefish made the right choice. With these temps there is also good potential for overclocking without throttling. The weight and slimness and 8GB VRAM of the P35x is tempting, but you'll have to make too many compromises in my opinion.
-
We ship anywhere DHL will deliver
-
Not serviceable in THAT sense man Serviceable as in it's a pretty good offering. Serviceable as in it's a pretty good offering.

EDIT: But I must say that what you said was kind of the final thing that convinced me to stick with my P651SG purchase. Not being able to take apart your laptop just to repaste, what a disgrace haha.Last edited: Dec 7, 2014

 @mythologic:
thanks, by the way, can I just put it in my notebook? means just replace the old Wireless card with the new? Can you write me a message as soon as you got this card on stock?
 Thanks again.

Anyone else get the Pick Your Path bundle with their P650/651? It's kind of hilarious that all 3 games are at least fairly buggy on PC, with AC: U being an absolute joke. I think I'm going to go with Far Cry 4, as it seems to be the best game and the least buggy of the bunch. The Crew really interests me, but early reviews are far from promising. I've heard from lots of sources that the driving is not good at all. Kind of a big default for a racing game.
-
I picked my path with FC4. AC is not my game. The crew could be nice but if the physics suck, then not for me.
-

+80° under full load in the GPU?
-

I think it's more like 78 That monitoring program doesnt look that great tbh. If you could run HWMonitor in the background and play for an hour keeping GPU under full load and take a screenshot it'd be great. That monitoring program doesnt look that great tbh. You can remove the bottom panel and claim warranty but trying to do anything is nigh on impossible. They put the mobo in 'upside down' where the CPU and GPU are face-up and draw in air from the top. An interesting idea in concept that unfortunately failed to pay off as a significant enough advantage for me to want to keep.
-

Can anyone please tell us the temps of the GTX 980m? From HTWingnut's review, the GPU never exceeded 65 degrees. Is this the case with 980m?
-
I'm dying to know whether I can expect significantly lower fan noise on the p650se than my current p157sm.

This thing is still more than beastly enough for me. But it's a bit of a hair dryer. Drives my girl a bit batty.
-
Oh god, I just had a dream that my P651SG arrived and actually looked like some sort of mid 90s brick of a laptop, while still having the same stuff on the inside. Nightmares
-
jeanjackstyle Notebook EvangelistYou really need your new laptop.
-

SG arrived earlier today, it is beautiful! 3k screen is gorgeous too. I'll take some photos of it against my P150EM to give a comparison in size of anyone's curious.
-

 Congrats kingyr!
Can you compare fan noise when gaming? I'm wondering which fans are louder under load for reference.
 Pics would be great.
-

Thanks right now this thing is alot more quite than my P150EM. Haven't put the thing under load yet, got all my stuff downloading, yay for slow internet! hahaha right now this thing is alot more quite than my P150EM. That is exactly wht I did. These ARE data from HWmonitor, and indeed the max. temp was 78°C - and load was 100% - and I played 1hour before the test. The starting temp is around 70° because I had to go to the desktop quickly to start the tools. Here's another diagram from the same test :

I'm confused, are the P650SE/SGs eligible for the Pick Your Path games? It says eligible desktop GPUs.
Also, I ordered the P650SG from XoticPC, does the Dec. 19th ETA mean my order will process on the 19th?
-
might depend on the seller. I bought from MYSN.de and got the voucher.
-

Thanks for letting us know, sold my P150EM back in the day...great laptop but the fan noise was distracting.
Not sure if I remember exactly how loud it was but would be great to hear from a user that has both....would be great to know once you finish downloading your stuff.
 Enjoy!

My SG has been dispatched today (sunday, 9 AM in UK ) !
 Should get it by Wednesday/Thursday.

Before even turning it on, it will have IC7 and an LG IPS (i never undervolt).

So i will give you a heads up for you guys who ordered LG IPS from Sager regarding the screen (response time etc), all LP156WF4SP xx have the same response time, ~ contrast/luminosity. I'm 99,99% sure Xotic sell (thus,..sager) LP156WF4SP(B1) IPS MATTE, which is my screen.

I have AC unity, Far cry 4, FF XIV, Dragon age III, BF4, not sure if i'll do a review, but if you need a specific benchmark result + temp on one of those games tell me, since they are quite recent. (however i will wait some time before playing AC:unity since it really needs patches/hotfix)
-

About 13° hotter than the SE with about 25% extra performance.
-

You can't compare both like that since it's not the same conditions, If i recall HTwingnut, elevated the chassis for instance.
-
That sums it up. I hope to get around 70° under full load when having repasted/undervolted.
-

I did, but I ran a few of the high temp games again without it elevated, and results were 1-2C higher only. In any case under 80C is still remarkably cool for a top end GPU in a thin chassis.
-
UPS tracking is telling me that delivery is scheduled before the end of today, even though the laptop is still in Germany. Fingers crossed
