Windows 7 does not really play that nicely with UEFI.

Can someone comment on laptop thickness? I see the height is 1.5 inches. Is this with feet? With open lid or closed lid?

Pictures would be very very much appreciated. Thank you

Dimentions are given as the thickest point, the chassis has the same dimensions as the P750ZM/P750DM if you want to see more pics.

Hello guys! Just order my own 17" batman! 6700k and 970M(whaiting for Pascal).
Could you recommend me good SSD for system, games and space for video editing projects (final storage is 2 Tb hdd). So, I woul like to have around 500 Gb of ssd space at all. I belive m.2 PCIe drives like samsung 950 is a bit overpriced, isnt it?
I think about m.2 850 EVO 500 GB, does it still worth, or somethink more benefit is there? Could be better take 2.5" instead of m.2? I can consider combination of 2 SSDs aswell.
I will be thankful for any advice and execuse me for my english.

the 850 evo 500gb would be exactly the drive id recommend to you, if u hadnt mentioned it urself :) its performance per price ratio is unbeatable, basically a steal for the performance ure getting! so cant do anything wrong with that drive ;)

Crucial MX200 or Samsung Evo 850 500Gb are the drives to go with, especially if you consider performance/price. Between both, take the one which is cheaper. Regarding m.2 and 2.5", again take the one which is cheaper or... hmm... m.2 has the benefit of being smaller (maybe you want to use it later as relatively small external drive), 2.5" has the benefit that both your m.2 slots remain empty for m.2-PCIE-NVMe-drives. Depends on your preferences.

Hi, would you mind sending me your vBIOS for the m5000m? I ordered one of those off of ebay, but the vBIOS is wrong, so it wont work on my p750dm. I'm hoping you could send yours to me so I could flash the vBIOS to my card. Thanks!

Every panel can be overclocked, every panel will reach different levels, expect a fair bit less from high resolution panels due to signaling/bandwidth issues.

Hmm that's one of my questions also.

I am getting ready to order a 770DM-G.

    1. I was planning to deck it out with a new m.2 nvme drive, but:
    a: I hear heat concerns
b: I hear the performance boost is mostly benchmark only
c: I hear there is a new drive technology going to be released next year that is a game changer.

    2. Is the 980M worth it over the 970M? What is Pascal?

    3. I'd really love to do 3D stereoscopic on this display. Any 120Hz panels available?

    4. I'm planning on barebones-ing this from RJ Tech and adding processor (Microcenter nearby) and drives myself and installing Windows 7. Can anyone suggest a reseller that woudl do the work for me and not charge anything? ;)

Thanks for any input. The notebook, I am typing on now is dying a slow, painful death.

3G or LTE (lte=4g) can be installed only under the keyboard.
That is the only available slot for WLAN Combo M.2 2230 Card with PCIe and USB interface (A key).
The other m.2 slots under the laptop (fan area) are both M key.

Have you tried using another windows kit? :)
Or you could update to latest bios from mysn (it will change boot logo to xmg). But i wouldn't recommend bios update if you are not familiar with the process.

The Intel 8260 is working out of the box wheras the Killer pendant had many issues, which forced the users to swap to Intel afterwards.

Dunno, if this (Killer-)Problem has been sorted out at the meantime.

true, it used to be that both intel and killer wifi adapters collected negative posts here from users, but lately, since the 7265, intel has basically silenced any complaints :) so yeah, it "looks like" intel wifi is the safer bet at the moment.

Are most of you guys undervolting the 6700K to 65w? If so, is there a simple guide for a pleb like me to do it safely?

What's the performance and temperature difference by undervolting?

You don't undervolt to 65W. 65W is the TDP, which is only a limit value. Set it to the maximum and you're fine. You don't ever need to look at this value again.

Afterwards you set the speed you need (and can achieve) and the last step is undervolting by lowering the CPU voltage as much as possible (= system becomes unstable).

If I don't do this and leave it as is, are the temperatures for gaming terrible? I am thinking about the 770dm-G. Not concerned about battery life, just temperature.

Let me put it this way, on my p870dm, the stock volt its enough for a 4.6ghz OC but I had issues with thermal throttling on it. As in, I am hitting 100c tjmax on wprime.

Hey guys, how come its rare to see resellers offer the p751dm vs the p750dm? From what I've heard, the difference is only in the exhaust fan detailing (matte vs brushed aluminum). Obviously this isn't a big deal at all, just curious if there were less p751dm's manufactured? I can't imagine they would be more expensive (or by very much). And last question, anyone have a picture or pictures to compare the exhaust fans?

New bios for the u506 and u706 (p751, p771) models from xmg/mysn. Can be downloaded from :

    http://www.mysn.de/driver/XMG/XMG_U506_und_U706/Bios/

    Changelog:
(1). Automatically detect nVIDIA MXM card and output corresponding sound.
(2). Fix "N16-PQ1(M1000M) HDMI has no sound".
(3). Fix "POST display on screen too long."
(4). Add "MXM card brightness control on POST".
    (5). Update Microcode to 55.
    (6). Update ME to 11.0.0.1183.

    LE:
So I installed it. Pretty straightforwards,no issues. It does not seem to post faster, per fix nr 3.
Now I don't know if it's windows 10 fault or somewhere else, but suddenly it does not connect to wifi automatically (got that with previous bios flash) and windows activation failed.

I have it activated with the microsoft account but suddenly it wouldn't work anymore. It reactivated after inputting the old windows8 key again.

    Meh...

Every panel even of the same model is different, especially if yours is a bit more out than normal. You will need to calibrate it manually or get a device.

Hi. Need some help. I can't decide which one to get, 980m or 970m? I'll be using it for work/game 50/50. Will be getting the 4k screen for work purposes. I don't mind gaming on 1080p. But i want this to run future games (3-5 yrs), can the 970m handle it?

    Upgrading from semi-faulty desktop 3770k, gtx670.

    Thanks.

at 3-5 years planned usage, i would definitely go for the 980M. itll give u 30% more performance, thats about one to 1.5 years extra longevity compared to the 970M :)

I can say that I am quite impressed with the 980M. The most graphically intense games I play are Fallout 4 and GTA 5 (both scaled down to 1080). The 980M handles both very well. Fallout 4 is at max settings and only has occasional slow-down. GTA 5 is at max settings as well, and seems to play pretty good as well.

No FPS counts (as I don't really care about it), but it looks smooth enough to me. Bear in mind that the last "competent" laptop I have had is a Macbook Pro Retina, which had a 750M (which I think Apple downclocked if I'm not mistaken), so it was a huge jump from that.

I asked this a few pages back, the TL;DR is that Intel has much better driver support and is more reliable in the long run.

I had the same issue. Ended up choosing 980m. If you look on notebookcheck, benchmarks for 980m on most new games at 1080p can hit 60 fps on ultra, where as 979m can't. This issue may be negated to a certain extent by the fact that the screen has G-sync, so even 40 - 50 fps will look more smooth. Fingers crossed that future Nvidia GPU will still allow mxm b for upgrade.
