Was it a retail chip? You should be able to sell it on and get a 6700K in the worst case.

If the laptop come from a Prema partner who offered firmware for Kaby he still will need Skylake chips for flashing (if I remember correct).

one more thing, if I cannot get support from prema, is there any stock bios or any other bios what I can use to have kaby support? the retailer is MIFCOM germany, but I doubt that they invest to much energy developing bioses... sticker, marketing and sales...

No official BIOS was ever released with support. It is a very minor performance difference.

As I said it's not as if the 7700k is now worhless. The other thing to consider is if the 8xxx series is modded successfully/reliably it might be a better option. Check the threads in the main section for that.

If I understand correctly the general bios does not support KBL (?) and you need some kind of modded bios to use KBL (of course the best premamod)

Depends on your BIOS version, any version after 1.06.XX supports KBL, and those are official BIOS(non-modded).

if it helps you any: 6700K and 7700K have the exact same performance at identical clocks. only advantage of a 7700K is that its able to clock higher. ive had a high binned 6700K in my P751DM before and had it running at 4.5 ghz all cores 24/7. now with a highly binned 7700k its 4.8 ghz all cores 24/7, so thats just 6.7% faster.

as for @Prema, hes on travels right now, so it might take a while for him to answer.

I had my p750dm hooked up to a friends HP OMEN Accelerator Shell - GA1-1000 with a gtx1080 ti. First it didn't work, but on the second day "magic". Sadly no real test Unigine Heaven Score was 2216, near double to 1131 on the 980m. Also the Thunderbolt version.

I think "PowerShare" is actually a Dell/Alienware name, which gives BIOS control over how much battery life the system will allow an externally charged device to use before it stops charging. Power sharing via USB in general is supported by all the USB ports of course, but on different models there is a powered USB port which will charge an external device when the lapotp is powered off and connected to an AC PSU, or when the laptop is powered off and not connected to a PSU. In your laptop this is the combined eSATA/USB 3.0 port (so you're looking at the correct port!) and when charging a device from the laptop battery (when the laptop is switched on or off) it will provide charging power to this connection until the laptop battery reaches 20% charge. You can't change this % setting in the stock BIOS, but you can toggle the function on and off with the key combination Fn and Power Button.

EDIT - see pages 10 and 21 of the Clevo user manual that should have been supplied with your laptop :)

under windows the FlashMeWinX64 says error 425...

Does anyone has DOS bat files to flash P7xxDM3 and P7xxDM3.rom? I have seen obsidian YT video with the same 775dm3, they have used these two bat file.

thanks for the help in advance

ui: I have borrowed a skylake cpu, the bios and ec was 1.05... BTW I have managed to flash EC without any problem, but these stupid win flashers do not work

@Prema I saw your hard and amazing job with Project Phoenix from @Mr. Fox to run i7 8700k and gtx 1080 on Clevo p870DM-G http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...gtx-1080-upgrade.814711/page-25#post-10712139
and the question is can that custom bios runs on Clevo p75xDM and p77x laptops i think an i5 8600k for exemple it's just better choice then i7 7700k about the same power/same performance for lesser price at least 50$ difference of course if they runs with i7 8700k that's jsut a dream come true

Usually that particular issue is a mismatch between the Sound Blaster software and the Realtek Driver.

Each SB version seems to be coded to ONLY work with specific versions of the Realtek drivers which are often overridden by Windows Update.

I suggest removing the sound device in Device manager and using the option to uninstall the driver. Then disable Automatic driver updates and finally, download the SB and Realtek driver from your reseller and install them.

All that being said, if you use headphones I'd recommend against using the SB software at all as it (IMO) makes everything sound worse and is overly bloated. Often all you need is a good EQ which you can get in the default Realtek package (Under "Realtek HD Audio Manager" -> Sound Effects -> small EQ button) or Equalizer APO+PEACE GUI if you want something more advanced. EqualizerAPO even supports VST inserts so you can get crazy with that.

Hi there, anyone have experience overclocking their P751DM-G? Mine has an i5-6600k, GTX 980m, 8gb 2400Mhz RAM.
Just wanted to know how your temps are, and what can be expected?

Overclocked my i5 @ 4Ghz with Core Voltage Offset at -0.150V. Temps barely reach 80°C in Prime95 (in summer at ~28°C ambient). So I am guessing that is all I am going to get out of it? Cause when I leave Voltage Offset at default and @ 4Ghz it goes into the high 80s, sometimes above 90°C.
Kinda new to this whole overclocking thing, so trying to play it safe.

Would be nice to hear what you guys are getting, cause it is kind of hard to compare my Clevo with desktop PCs concerning temps on this processor.

is your cpu delided? i used to have 6600k delided and on 4ghz as I remember it was below 80C even after many rounds of IBT... but each chip is different however i5 (no HT) should be cooler then i7 for sure...
