Having a blast waiting for these enthusiast notebooks to release, apparently microsoft will have a announcement concerning windows 10 and most likely games running the new os with dx12 more than likely. The timing is again January' ish so 2015 for me personally will be trigger pulling time.
&jaybee I was also relieved because those shipping fees oversees would be tight on my budget. I Would rather put that money to some local reseller options like a maybe a sharp screen, ssd, a gtx980m with upgraded thermal paste, and a additional year warranty to name a few. -

No, it seems that the Killer cards are purposedly locked out from the Linux world. No one has found a way to make them work under Windows, to date. There are even several threads on the Ubuntu forums, for example this one: [Ubuntu 14 04] Atheros Wireless card not detected
For me it's the main reason to go with Intel. I plan a W8/Mint dualboot, so I'd rather stick with Intel than having to use a crappy USB WiFi stick just for Linux. -

Sort of wish they went with a 3 fan design like they did with the P series but with 2 fans on the CPU and 1 for the GPU.
Is anyone else thinking the 2 fan setup might not be sufficient?
Even with the monster heat sink and beefier 2 fans, I just hope it's enough since I've cut down my list and this and the P series are on the top of it. -
What... P series... had three fans that was not the SLI model? Where?
Oh right, the P6xxSx series. Silly D2

Same here. I'm waiting for this one to come out, and i'll probably be taking the coolest one.

 haha! LOVE IT!

I'd rep you but I gotta rep around a bit before it goes your way again. -

The NP8651 has terrible battery life, especially for a 'portable' laptop. Right now the only 15-inch high-end gaming laptop with good battery life is the Gigabyte P25X V2 (and P25W V2, only difference is the GPU), which is last gen. Hope this lappy changes that.

I'm slowly suspecting Clevo is reintroducing the un-turn-off-able tribal mouspad on the lid.
For now i'm just going with the flow and calling it by whatever the consensus/OP calls it. -
 This is all I got:

lol, I'm probably gonna be making a lot of these in the near future, given the dailies here, I could easily get a section started if the MOD's allowed haha...
Is that your final answer?

Curious to see the different cpu bench results all from this single machine and for different testing games - apps- video editing.
Judging by the design and given its a laptop my guess is that thermal paste will have to be applied to the cpu-pipe connection just as the mobile gpus in most socket laptops but can anyone confirm or negate this ? or would it be snap on just like the desk top I highly doubt but still curious? -

 Hmm it's not pointy enough
are you sure it's not because of BM watermarks?

Too beefy and prolly expensive for me
I only play games and watch animes. Curious how this notebook will turn out though.

Quoted the wrong post lol, check above you.
Also Such ridiculous words shall not be used here lol, this is NBR !!!! *kicks you into the 300 pit * (Assuming by beefy you mean TONS OF POWA!!!)
As for gaming this things built for it, unless you're playing MMO's or old skool games then yeah lol, also the price range for this is looking to be within 100-200$ from the P651 at least from a few areas, can be up or down from there. However Voyeurism is ALWAYS welcome here~
We should have reviews up within a few days of receipt! Got a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG list of stuff to run.
Also guys when quoting LARGE as hell images, please be courteous and use spoiler tags <3 -

Sorry pal I don't follow you, can you explain? -

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The only difference is a heat spreader. You will still need paste between the heat spreader and heatsink.
 -

MichaelKnight4Christ Notebook Evangelist
I'm sorry I may have not have had the correct wording but your reply " whot? 10char" threw me off.
Thanks, I think heat spreader and heatsink are the words I should have properly used and I really give you credit for understanding what I was trying to ask. So in other words unlike the "actual" desktop z97 cpu's that can be placed and removed without pasting, the notebook z97 chips will require paste to the heatsink is that correct?\
new edit:Okay I did not see these images on the first page until now but I think this one answers my question

up close I can see the thermal residue still on the cpu and gpu.

you don't paste your desktop cpu???
shoure you could do the same with a notebook but haven't you got troubles with heat? i would be very afraid of burning this thing... -

4 hrs isn't horribly terrible. Sure it could be a bit better, but 4 hrs useful isn't bad at all. The MSI GS60 with 2.5 hours if you're lucky battery life is not fun.
 -

Wasn't it 3 hours web browsing?
EDIT: My bad, I mixed up the Clevo P651SE and the P650SE.Last edited: Dec 14, 2014 -

same difference, just different chassis
      -

NO JAY but the ears! my god what am I gonna do if I can't find the ears, nothing else matters BUT the ears!!!! *shakes you and catches on fire before running off to quest for some LN2*
 -

lol luna, lets invite u to a refreshing LN2 cocktail

no but i dont really get what datashell is talking about....? batman is about everything BUT battery life
without optimus its gonna be in the range of like 2-3 hours, with optimus it would probably be maxxed out around 4 hours, if at all. and then hes talking about mixing up the P650SE and the P651SE, which are exactly one and the same laptop except one is with brushed aluminum chassis and the other with sandblasted aluminum chassis? i dont get it.... confused! gotta fix myself and my gf a big nice lasagne now, maybe ill be able to think clearly afterwards

AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Edit: Imo I do think Batman is the wrong name.. This pc will not try to save everyone: But it sure will make fun of everything else! so..

To be clear " I don't recommend " most people do what I mentioned but depending on the climate the cpu and the type of pc I have made quick personal builds with low end processors out of necessity and not for extreme games or OC'ing. Low end pc cpu's can be incredibly cool and heat resistant. However, my question was really what the paste/heatsink set up was and how the cpu would be removed and where the paste and piping would be pasted.Last edited: Dec 14, 2014 -

Luna that was just epic to the point of perfect! xD
Make your own thread for this and keep them coming!!

Edit: And lol, was Wingnut supposed to be a lcd screen or a fridge of some sort??

its just cuz hes THAT cool

TWO more days until i can order batman! WAAAHHHH! -

Will the 17" screen definitely be an IPS panel?
 -

umm....this is the owner´s lounge for the 15 inch model
first that and secondly, screen options will depend on each and every vendor / reseller so you cannot really answer this question universally. from what ive read thus far, 17 inch displays pretty much always come as TN models with only very few exceptions being IPS. also, high-res screens will very likely be restricted to 15 inchers. subject to change anytime in the future, of course. this is just what i know / have read thus far.

Apologies for the misunderstanding I got mixed up as I thought this thread was talking about 17" screens as well. Its just that numbers of clevos can be confusing with corresponding numbers from resellers. I am new to these types of laptops so I get mixed up quite easily on top of that I dont quite understand much of what has been said by the great minds on here in the technical sense since following this thread from the very beginning.
I just get the impression that 15" laptops might be a bit smaller for me than 17" laptops but at the same time I want a IPS screen. So I guess I would need to make a compromise somewhere. -

understandable, clevo/sager and their resellers are using tons of different names for the same models, its sometimes hard to keep track even for the more experienced users
as of now theres not much info available on the 17 inch model, but i think that scan uk has them on preorder as well? might be worth checking out their configurator to see what ur options might be

Yeah I can't keep track of all the Sager models and corresponding Clevo models. So many numbers, mix that with Intel processers and AMD and Nvidia GPU's you're sure to get confused.

To be clear, unless one is running a 486 DX4 or below ( or an original Pentium MMX) one should ALWAYS paste their CPU, regardless of climate. Skimping out well... we all saw Chernobyl

lol thx, I'm doing more actually, I had drawn that a day before but crashed since I was sick then finished up the dialogue the following day ( was supposed to have followed my so called rant) As for Wingnut he was a giant LCD bot w/ arms (I'm sure behind the LCD he has a small cooler for beer or other sorts ) I meant to have him projecting diff games on his screen while talking or idling then specific images to get the point across in certain events lol.)
And yeah for all the crazy arguments/scenarios I see, I'll probably be illustrating them to get a point across or just for lulz for people to simply quote w/ in the future lol to replace the "10 char wut" with "strip #4 wut" etc. -

It's a lot simpler over here in UK/Europe where we don't have Sager as a middle man.

We have Clevo builders too, just Sager typically seems to offer the best pricing, likely because of volume. The independent Clevo builders likely have higher costs due to lower volume and more overhead. But they typically offer better warranties and more "mom and pop" type store fronts.
 -

MichaelKnight4Christ Notebook Evangelist
Thats interesting to me I thought that since Clevo is a Taiwanese manufacturer that they would have some other "middle man" for different parts of the world. My question is in Europe are you sure there is not a different middleman brand representing the oem or can you really buy a clevo with actual clevo branding ?
I agree what you said is very correct but what else can I say desperate times called for desperate measures. Like I said its NOT recommended.HTWingNut likes this. -

No, Clevo don't sell them directly to us either but there's one less company in the chain over here.
US; Clevo -> Sager -> various resellers -> customer
Europe; Clevo -> various resellers -> customer
I know not every US reseller get their stock from Sager but I get the impression the majority do.

I just remember the clevo names. They're MUCH easier, as most people with Clevos know what they're built off of, so it's easy to know what to tell them to do. Sager models, fangbook models, origin PC's models, the XMG models from mysn... the Eurocom models... SCREW IT ALL. IT'S A CLEVO MMKAY

Schenker has a bunch of offers from now until Christmas, and look what appears under the letter F

omg... does that mean theyre gonna offer a 10% discount on both the P751ZM and the P771ZM on the 20th???? TOTALLY worth waiting for another 4 days!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAH *goes to take a LN2 shower to cool down*
you always had a mesmerizing aura about u luna

get well soon btw, need your strength to tame batman

edit: dropped a line to Tom from MySn to make sense of that Xmas offer. would be unbelieveable if they really offered a discount right off the Bat (pun intended) on these brand-new models

That'd be awesome, any word from any of the resellers about Screens yet? Given we're nearly there hoping SOME specs have released. I'm holding off mainly till there's a 95% clone available. Since I'm overseas I borrowed my friends P-150EM and as I mentioned earlier I'm completely in awe of the amazingness of this screen. Brightness is perfect color spectrum is beyond my wildest dreams. Allows me to nearly perfect my CMYK for my webstrips if I want to ( since my companion is only 76% gamut w/ a spyder4elite calibration )
<s>OT requested a cleanup</s> Looks like it went through, sorry for cluttering the batcave / scattering the bats <3
Need to pull the specs up on this screen so I know what to compare.
Also its matte and I don't even care because of how beautiful it is, though I can only IMAGINE how amazing it'd look in gloss. <3
I'm sure the 4k variants will have splendid color/brightness, but again, still iffy on the whole running games portion, after Cakefish's test runs with their p35x @ 3k, I can only imagine it'd be a 5fps drop from that at most. When the W570 or w/e its called does its refresh w/ SLI 980's and x99... I bet it'll mame the 4k's with at least 80fps max. 100fps easily w/ a lil oc to both.Last edited: Dec 15, 2014
