Scan said 95% gamut display is not available, but 15" model comes with IPS panel. My guess is its AUO panel.
-
mmm i guess it depends on what your fps is to start with @5fps drop
according to this article here: AMD VSR gegen Nvidia DSR (Seite 3) - ComputerBase
it seems like one can expect performance numbers of around 70% at 1440p / 50% at 1800p / 30% at 2160p when setting 1080p as 100%
shouldnt be too much difference between downsampling and actual resolution, since the processing needs are the same. same goes for Nvidia DSR vs. AMD VSR, should be quite comparable
thx for the clean-up btw

the 25ms ones? As far as other display go do we have a definite on any that way we can use that as an example to find others w/ the same pinout/thickness/compatibility. I DEFINITELY want a 95%.
Ahh, my only issue is swapping back and forth between 1080 and 4k on the desktop since I play borderless window most of the time, hate full screen. I'm sure theres a hotkey or something I can use to set it up though.
Also np, I run a few forums myself so I"m used to it. -
Is there any vendor, other than Bluemobility, that has the Sharp 4k panel as an option?
-
^ Speaking from the above Jay, have you thought about adding a section on the OP depicting which main options sellers are offering? Mainly screens at this point and anything else that might come up as a concern.
-
I was lurking on the interwebz and I found this survey by mysn: https://de.surveymonkey.com/s/QYMQPYC which seems to suggest that they're going to offer the nice i7 4790T.
Talking about performance, it's about 8-10% faster than a i7 4810MQ while consuming less, and just 1-2% slower than the i7 4790S with 20 watt less power usage. A very interesting piece of technology... If I finally decide for this lappy, this may be my processor of choice!

Well I have some bad news! Looks like they won't let me pre-order without making full payment now so I'm just going to wait... Not in much of a hurry and my finances in Jan should be better then now when I actually start making some money before my proper job starts in September 2015... So guess I have to twiddle my fingers... Or wait for someone to buy my laptop..
-
phsew....in theory a nice idea, but in practice itll be a biatch to keep up with like 50+ resellers from different continents... add to that keeping a list of diverse components up-to-date... oh boy
btw, messaged back and forth with MySn and at this point in time it looks like theyre NOT gonna include the ZM series in their xmas xtravaganza special, after all and only start pre-orders in january in parallel with actual availability...
but nothing is written in stone yet, lets wait and see how it goes...
-
So when is mysn preorders going to start?
-
What? If that's true I'm going for the P651SG. I can't wait until mid January...
-
Looks like it's the 20th... I'm going to wait for mySN and PCspecialist.. Even if Scan is the cheapest, their warranty is the worst (it's so short) and they don't even want to give any free gifts other then that headset which is useless for me... They also want to take the money now...
It will be mid Jan whichever way from all resellers.. I'm tempted to wait for a few months since the new AMD HBM cards and NVIDIA cards will come out... -
Scan offer 2 year warranty, PCSpecialist 3year warranty is only 2years, 3rd year is not valid for parts. Btw what are the gifts others offer? Scan didn't charge Cakefish's preorder(he paid via card).
-
pretty much together with actual availability, so it sounded like theres not gonna be "preorders" but rather ordering once theyre available in beginning/mid january.
but even so, shipping date still stays the same, no matter when u order ur machines
warranty is the main reason im going with mysn, u just cant beat their 4yrs all inclusive warranty
-
So not much of a difference. Scan also unofficially confirmed about mid Jan availability.
-
Is Clevo just building up hype?
P670se is also "delayed" until january, avaliability on the p650/1se is also gone until 1-15 january many places..
From what i can see tho.. -
Yeah the only problem is my bank account is currently very empty.. I have half the amount I require for the laptop (need to sell my AW).. I'll probably get it on finance and sell my AW and pay it off... I need to wait for Jan whichever way...
As for Scan, their warranty is pretty much useless IMO after the 1st year as you have to pay for labour+shipping in the 2nd year and I rather pay a bit extra to PC Specialist for their 3 year warranty even if its "2 years ish".... mySn looks to be too expensive... Now it's a matter of when PC Specialist will place the laptops on pre-order and then I can think of something! -
P670 seems to be shipping already.. The batman was always going to come out in Jan so the timeframe is fine IMO..Kaozm likes this.
-
Yes found the owners lounge now, just shortage of it i guess....
-
Scan 2year warranty is parts+labour (2nd year you need to pay for shipping only).
I ordered through Tesco Purchases Credit Card, Its 19month interest free for purchases + you get club card points. I have enough money but decide to split the cost.
http://www.tescobank.com/credit-cards/purchases/index.html -
Good idea.. I'll keep it at the back of my mind... Will need to sort out my part time job first... Which will take till Jan... So yes Jan it is
-
Im sorry to ask this as I dont remember if I got an answer but apart from PCspecialist and Scan, who are the other reliable resellers in the UK?
I dont want to get the Clevos from outside Europe as there will be significant import charges. -

Wow pals nice to see the clean up in the isle 7 bat department, anyway been checking my local retailers in the States and so far still no previews yet. Are you EU region folks able to pre-order now or is it just select areas ? I guess it takes longer to reach my coast but I don't mind the wait, look as a father you learn to be a bit patient. Hopefully next month or sooner we will see what the main sellers on my end do about pricing and packaging options. With the influx of pc popularity I think sales are doing well now and may even pick up more next year as these pc games are becoming the fad now.
A bit off topic but I was surprised my youngest son wants a laptop now I guess the tablet, iphone, pc and all the games consoles gets taken over in this house. For some reason I have a feeling they will end up seizing my new clevo like they do everything else but i'm actually ok with that as long as there is supervision. -
interesting, i just "accidentally" stumbled upon the mysn preorder page for the P751ZM
the upgrade prices are still bonkers though, for example upgrade from FHD to 3K/4K display is 9999€
also, theyre NOT including the 4790K in the cpu options! lets hope thats gonna change...even though im gonna stick to the lowest cpu model i5-4460S and just do the upgrade myself
anyways, by comparing upgrading prices of the P504 (=P157SM-A) and the P505 (=P65xSx) for the 980M MXM and Sharp 4K display, respectively, I´ll be coming to a total of 2350€
Config: i5-4460S / 4 GB Ram / no Storage / 980M / 4yrs extended warranty / 4K Sharp display
Ill be selling the 4460S (current market value for tray = 170€
, getting a 4790K (~310€
, 330W PSU (90€
plus thermal pads and all utensils i need for delidding and repasting with liquid ultra (~65€
summing it up: 2350€ - 170€ + 310€ + 90€ + 65€ = 2645€
thats slightly over my targeted budget of 2500 but i can totally live with that overhead
edit: GOOD NEWS!!!! the technical spec page says that the ZM series is WITHOUT OPTIMUS!

I wont' say link "please".
Link NOW!!!
edit: nvm, figured it out myself: mySN.de | SCHENKER XMG | Schenker Technologies - XMG U505 ULTIMATE Gaming Notebook 39,6cm (15.6")
edit/2: NO OPTIMUS! And 4790T confirmed, nice!Last edited: Dec 16, 2014jaybee83 likes this. -
So my choice is right. i7 4790S is the best this notebook can do.
-
haha totally forgot to include the link, was too excited i guess
anyways, they also have an explanation for not including CPUs over 65W TDP, namely that the 85W models reach temps of up to 100C
but i dont care, still gonna go ahead with the 4790K, and THATS gonna be the best this notebook can do
edit: mkay....were we just hijacked by an indian spammer?
-
I fear that's too much over my budget. I can get the P650SG with 3 years warranty for 1750 € from an Italian reseller... going over 2300 € for Batman is WAY too much for me now, since I'm going to move in February and I'll need the money for my new home.
-
check this out guys: https://de.surveymonkey.com/s/QYMQPYC
its a table made by mySn listing cpu options, their performance and, most importantly, their temps in the P751ZM when running furmark + prime95
-
I'm going to delidd my 4790S and use it until Broadwell hit the market. Delidding can reduce temp by 10C-20C, so I can keep it under 85C.
-
I linked it like 2-3 pages ago
-
u did? seriously? damn... im getting old
edit: found it and liked it

To be honest, mysn CPU/GPU thermal paste job is not good. Yes they use MX-2 but still they apply bit too much. If 4790s can hit 92C without delidding, I can simply reduce it to low 80s by delidd.
-
yup, sounds good
although "too much" thermal paste doesnt really inhibit the thermal transport that much, itll only make a difference of 1-2 degrees
so based on the table, a 4 core / 8 thread haswell cpu with a "suboptimal" paste job will reach 92C under furmark + prime95 at 4 Ghz on all cores.
subtract 10C for delidding, 2C for better paste / paste job and another 10C for NOT USING FURMARK AND PRIME95 AT THE SAME FRIGGIN TIME! so thatll amount to about 70C at 4Ghz. tooootally enough OC room for a 4790K if u ask me
anywhere between 4.4 minimum and lets say 4.7 Ghz is totally reachable if everything is optimized properly
-
Hmm I wonder if that was from stress testing or what not. I know you're made of fire jay, but remember not everything burns as hot as you can
Lol reported that the 2nd it popped up ( set to alerts on activity in the thread ) calvary is already on its way. Or should be any minute, the bat cave will be free of any crap (bat crap excluded ( poor alfred) )

Can't wait for Prema mod for this notebook. Then I can limit the Max voltage from BIOS. If you can limit the Max voltage you don't need to delidd, unless you are trying to OC. On my desktop by limiting Max voltage, I can reduce temp by 10C +

Guys, just placed the order for the P651SG. I called a local reseller and they offered me the laptop for 300 € less than mysn, with 3 year warranty, deliver in 2014.
I'm too much in a hurry to wait for Batman -- I need my laptop for work and the broken keyboard I'm using right now is a PITA. Plus, 1750 € vs 2300-2400+ is a HUGE difference for me now since I'm going to need money for my new house...
Anyways, long live the Batman!
This is going to be a GREAT laptop... for people who can afford the money and the time to wait for it
-
so no support for 4790k ?
-
What is this delidding of which you speak? CPUs have lids now?
Sent from my Nexus 5 -
It supports the 4790K but mySN is probably not offering that option.. Scan is offering it along with bluemobility.. I have a feeling that for the 4790K to run properly, you'll need good thermal paste and CPU deliding will definetly help along with that... Now when is PC Specialist going to open pre-orders? I actually like their financing options...
-
If you are going with financing option. Compare all sellers available. Those financial options underwrite by V12 finance and every reseller use the same company.
I recommend 9month buy now pay later option. If you pay within 9 month you don't have to pay interest and you only need to pay notebooks cost, if you failed! interest rate is pretty high after 9month. -
yeah in that sense Scan stands out as it's the only one who that option... Main problem for me is that I don't have 16 hours of employment yet so the financing companies might not approve it... In Jan, I should... I don't mind trying making the application now but the dates etc make more sense for me to wait for Jan... Also PC Specialist's finance option is better IMO as it gives me 11 months to pay it off...
-
Don't apply now for Credit if you not sure about approval. Wait till Jan. Every time you apply for credit they do checks and record it in your personal credit history. Doing multiple credit checks within few months actually reduce your rating and creditors usually assume you as a risk. I know this because I used to work as a intern in major high street banks credit department.TomJGX likes this.

Thanks for the heads up.. I actually was checking this out and this exact point came out... This just confirms it for me.. I'm going to try selling my AW and if it get's sold, it's perfect... If not, then I'll take it on finance
.. I honestly don't need to upgrade but this forum is giving me upgrade fever
-
oooh yes, upgrade fever is hard to resist
btw, mysn also mentions the 17 inch model to become available in january in their FAQ / technical specs section for the 15 inch model
-
Yeah, I'm interested in the 17" model too... 15" is tempting with IPS screen but I need a 17" screen so I'll be stuck with the TN screens...
BTW, Jaybee look at the mySN preorder page.. if you can place your pre-order now, you have the option to get 980M for $0 extra (looks like a bug)... Might want to place it hence
-
Good idea. Try to sell your AW. If you are going with financing option, make sure to pay as much as you can upfront. try to reduce your loan amount. Example : Total cost £1000- £500 upfront = £500 loan
Higher upfront payment gives you more chance of successful loan approval and lower interest rate due to reduce risk to bank.TomJGX likes this. -
its not a bug, its a feature
haha no, u cannot place preorders yet, or rather, theyre not gonna be accepted since that page is not accessible through the mysn website, u can only access it when manipulating the U702 model order page by changing the browser link to U505
also, the upgrade cost for the 4K display is a biiiit too much for my budget @+9999€
