It's possible yes, but will they do it, probably not, if you make a perfect machine then why would people by any other model? Compromises to each are a common business practice to keep reeling in the masses, and as you can see it's doing its job.
Example A:
People bust into this thread demanding to know why they should buy this laptop when the P651 exists and then ridicule and such as if someone stuck a gun to their head and told them they'd swap out their intel w/ AMD if they ca-*shot* I'm sure you get the point.
Example B:
Person wants laptop, said laptop not available yet, so grabs other, likewise both laptops are part of the same company, so the company wins while the consumer frets~ (stay tuned for this submission btw)
Though yes, I've been in your shoes many times in the past lol, good times~

What's interesting for tweakers is that you can use a high capacity brick natively with a 15" machine which is the first for some time. Considering the ability you get out of the 980m when unlocked *cough* 1400 - 1500Mhz *cough* that could be fun.

sounds like the unlocked 980M vbios is already in testing
24-33% OC ability, i like that
20% should definitely be doable and is considered minimum by myself for any hardware component

haha im having a biga$$ permasmile on my face right now
mySn just informed me that I´m the very first customer to place a U505 / P751ZM order with them in all of europe, because of this and my support here for them they gave me a 7+1% discount, amounting to 200€ off my order
perfect last day of work before the holidays!
edit: by the way, mySn does include the option to upgrade to a 330W psu, after all! but they only give you the option for it as an additional psu to the already included stock 230W. costs 89€ though, so good pricing
edit2: another lil gimmick from mySn

For gaming I expect the best bet will be to cruise the CPU at 4ghz (after delid/repaste) and then crank the GPU as much as possible.
bigspin and Mr Najsman like this. -
yeah, with this cooling system ill always have to watch out for the best thermal balance between CPU & GPU
and make it dependent on my current application
-
It's cheaper than I expected. Now I'm gonna have second thoughts for a long time on my decision to go with the already available little brother.
Oh well, congratulations jaybee

I hate software OC tools. I'm waiting for Svet's V-BIOS tool 980M support, then I can modify BIOS myself.
-
I did price comparison between mysn & scan and it seems mysn is around £150 more expensive than Scan.
BTW JB add resellers to first post. -
I think mySN will be even more expensive.. The UK mySn version hasn't put it on pre-order yet...
-
Been working on one during my int flight home just landed in detroit getting on last flight now will finish up in the air and post.
Incoming soon and grats on prepurchase post the full specs and also do they have info on screens now?
xD i should add that thx! <3D2 Ultima likes this. -
Yep. They might put it on pre order next week. Usually we are 2-3 days behind their EU site.
-
They said Jan when I asked them on the UK live chat so it's not going to be soon...
-
still no other viable option for 4 yrs full warranty. plus the 4k matte display
u mean all the resellers who are gonna offer the zm series? then i could pretty much just link to the international clevo reseller/vendor list
@luna: no info on screens yet, however the resident mysn rep here suspects that the 4k is most probably just gonna be the same sharp model as before just with an extra matte layer on top. but hell keep me updated once the specs are in...
as for my ordered config, here it is:

Wacom died after 6 1/2 hours use, forgot to set it to power saving / balanced lol, currently somewhere over the US using in flight wifi, will finish it either later tonight when I arrive home or first thing tomorrow lol, think this one might be longer than the last one. So apologies in advance but this'll def get some of the crap out there that we deal with xD

Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
Fantastic piece of hardware... Not that I'd really buy one but still =) Lack of VGA connector & especially no Optimus for improved battery life ain't nice at all. Hope it's still able to run on Intel VGA in case NVidia fails...
-
doubtful, since clevo has never provided a muxed system for manual graphics switching. my bet is on completely deacticated igpu.

Hello,
I'am new to the forum so firstly i want to introduce myself. My name is Ariel, i'am 26 years old and it is nice to be here
.
Secondly, I'am planning to get this beast soon but i have some questions that maybe you have answer to.
My provider has two wi-fi options: Intel Dual Wireless-AC 7265 2x2 a/b/g/n/AC + Bluetooth and Killer Gaming Wireless-AC 1525 a/b/g/n/AC + Bluetooth, which one will be better. I'am freaking out when my connection breaks so this is important factor...
There are so many options for procesors. I was told that i5-4690k will be enough for games and difference between it and i7-4790k will be minimal or none (in games). In games the i5 should be a bit cooler too. Any other ideas? Do you know what is the basic screen in this laptop, on provider site it is only "FullHD (1920x1080) matte TN" So not a lot of information...
Thanks for any information you can give me
Cheers
Ariel
P.S. Sorry for bad english -
Killer 1525 WiFi card have less driver issues and overall it can provide solid connection. I myself brought that card.
If your sole purpose is gaming i5 is not a bad choice. You're not going to see any noticeable performance difference.
According to mysn Intel 4790K can go up to 100C during stress test, they recommend 65w i7 4790S for the system. However since we don't have any user reviews, no one can tell how bad is temp situation. I brought the system with 4790S due to low TDP and I'm planning to delidd and replace thermal paste between die and IHS. This will help me to reduce temp around 10C-20C.
mysn and Scan uk provide IPS screen as a default option. I highly recommend IPS panel due to screen quality.
BTW from where you going to purchase this notebook?iFanta likes this. -
Review of new CPU's that's a pretty good read:
AnandTech | Intel Haswell Low Power CPU Review: Core i3-4130T, i5-4570S and i7-4790S Tested
It shows what we can expect for gaming performance between the new low to high end CPU's.
Good sign that even the 35W i7 T series offers pretty much the same gaming performance of the top end 88W i7 K series, your not sacrificing much FPS in games but will have much better temps....that is unless you need the extra horsepower for other CPU intensive work.Mr Najsman likes this. -
I was planning to get one form here: http://sklep.xtreem.pl/ or from http://www.bluemobility.pl/ (here they have more CPU's and some screen choices). To be honest i never delidded a CPU, i didnt even change the thermal paste in my old samsung r580 but i hope i will be able to repaste it somehow...

Since you are in Europe. Try mysn & Scan uk as well.
-
Wont any stupid taxes hit me in that case? And how long will i wait for it to arrive? In new year i will have 3 weeks off and would be happy to get my stuff in this time window. It would suck to resign from job just to get new computer ;P
-
Scan said they expect mid Jan delivery, but those dates can change.
Within European union no import taxes. You might have to pay extra for delivery. Do a price comparison and contact them to know about your delivery and warranty options. -
At xtreem they will have it at 12th january and at bluemobility at 7th... My internet here in Holland is so bad i cant open mysn and scan uk pages...

I'm hoping that the local vendors for my region give up some pre orders and some specifications sometime soon. Yea If I decide to get this zm the lower end cpu's over 3ghz will be more than enough for this ps4/xbox1 gaming cycle. Whats interesting and i'm surprised most don't point out, is that the i7490t/s @ 45/65w is over 200 hundred bucks more than the higher tdp chips. This once again shows us that mobility makes things expensive even if the performance is less. I'm curious to see the battery life in the t and s series compared to the k series.
Also I tip my hat to Eurocom for joining the forum. I see a representative has posted and they have preorders on their website. I always found their instructional how to videos on the internet useful. -
To be honest, if you're buying a high powered notebook for about 4+ hours of battery life, you're doing it wrong. Unless you put in some serious elbow grease with your machine, then most any mainstream machine could get half-decent battery life. But if you want the long-haul you're looking for swappable batteries or ULV chips
-
The hyperthread cores help a few games, but not a whole lot. Watch Dogs and Battlefield 4 are two examples. Most other games won't actually care. It's up to you if you think the few games that may care are worth it if heat or price is your concern. I hope this helps.Xareon likes this.

You can get DP -> VGA adapters if VGA is needed by the way.

That VGA comment should make for a pretty good troll comment in my next piece, thanks for that, good laugh there ~ (pointless post but still a good laugh) we need moar jokes in this thread keep em comin!
Let me translate that post into english
"I'm here for no reason other than to +1 my post count, and state why hindering graphics output options would be a better option for a DTR, I also think that Extreme gamers and desktop users should have use an Intel GPU vs a dedicated as its smart and saves power because who wants true gaming, not to mention VGA is still kicking, why not stick w/ it? Everyone loves 4:3 screw widescreen its just extra $$ for HDMI cables and crap which gives no boost in quality." #techbeach
Yup Luna's back.Last edited: Dec 20, 2014 -

PS/2 port, wutchu sayin Jay this is a DTR give it an AT port !!! Keepin it OOOOLLLDD SKOOOL

-
DO YOU EVEN GAME?! ISA SLOTS ALL THE WAY , then make the premium models w/ 1x PCI (NON -E) Back to EDO RAM that's stuff cheap as hell now if you can find it! Original gamers didn't even NEED to heatsync!
-
lol my suppressed laughter while reading these posts even woke up my gf sleeping on my shoulder here, and shed normally even sleep through the apocalypse
ps: THE DISPLAY!!!! forget 4K widescreen, go all out crazy on your very own 1:1 monochrome screen with 120x120 pixels! 5 dpi rulezzz!!! easier on the eyes

Damn that's to RICH for my blood, least I can TRY to do is meet you halfway, I mean yeah monochrome ALL the way if you want the BEST of the best experience, but if you can't afford it CGA would be a SOUND investment, 320x240 JUST for those additional work taskings that you ocassionally need, and I think we at least have our Robin at this point, the monochrome could go to the Bat xD
