Likely not. You missed the details of what happened, but your persistence will not help you. Patience might. So, relax, wait for an answer, and play with XTU. It will get you started so you can learn your cpu's voltages and tolerances.

Yeah.. I will I understand he is busy.. But I'm feeling good that I should be able to achieve 4.4 through xtu and the gpu will be unlocked with the Prema vbios anyway which is awesome.. So I'm excited

+1 to Throttlestop. Was able to get a stable 4.4 GHz on XTU, but pushed a nice 4.6 GHz on TS. This without Prema (I have since returned my laptop though and ordered one with Prema via HIDEvolution). I also dropped the 980m SLI for the 980 desktop variant in my EVOC.

A single card if it offers a significant advantage over one of an SLI pair can certainly be more attractive for the sake of simplicity of drivers and consistency in what games perform.

this post is for posterity of those that purchased the P870DM thru a non-Prema partner. Hopefully you run across this in your search.

In regards to CPU configuration, at the time of the posting you will not find a Prema system BIOS for the P870DM. But, do not despair. You still can have some control over your system configuration. Please take some time to research and learn @unclweeb's ThrottleStop (TS) [highly recommended] or Intel's XTU applications. After installing and researching the settings, these tools will let you configure some components of your system without having the Prema system BIOS.

This happened? Wasn't even aware of it. Hopefully that doesn't detract from him releasing new BIOS mods and updates in future...

Haven't been on the forums for a while. Just hopped on to read occasionally while at work. Been having less time to use my machine due to work and life.

@Phoenix I see you have a G900 in your sig, how you like it? I bought the Razer Mamba 4 months ago (I honestly am not a big fan of Razer, but the Mamba was the only 1 ms wired/wireless solution I saw), and I bought this immediately when I saw it. So far I love this thing. Too long too late for my wallet though :(

Yep, also why supporting Prema resellers is a great thing to do, even if it cost a tiny but more (while for me it actually cost less).

this is the best mouse you can own hands down.

Gives you the same accuracy and speed of a wired mouse but in a wireless/wired mode. Both are excellent.

I use it with a Razer Manticor mouse pad and it's super smooth and accurate.

Battery life is superb as well, I can get away easily with a 24 hour period without charging then when you run out of battery, simply plug in the wire and continue using it, no more swapping batteries or waiting for it to be charged. Worth every penny even though it's expensive for a mouse.

I bought mine from HIDevolution to get better warranty than having to buy it from Amazon or Logitech directly since HIDevolution's warranty is the best

Been using the mouse for 5 hours non-stop, battery stats.......

Corsair M65 for me. Response time and the weight helps a lot for precision in competitive shooters.

I used a m65 for a while and my k/d ratio slipped. The pointer acceleration is horrible on this mouse. I switch to the g502 (optical mouse) which is the closest to my old g9 I could grind. Much much much better mouse than the m65 and its optical. Just my opinion.

Oh I didn't know about HIDE's return policy on accessories, that's really good! I think one of the reasons the battery life is so good is that its an HD optical with power optimization, which will consume less power than a typical laser mouse. Opticals also tend to be "slightly" preferred among FPS players vs laser (I also prefer optical).

I owned the old 2012 Mamba and it broke my first year. Razer sent a replacement (which had a refurbished tag on the shipping, big mistake) and it also had defects upon arrival. Then then sent me a brand new one, which also had a tiny defect but I was over it. Needless to say I didn't have the best experience.

This current Mamba (which again, was super reluctant to buying and only got it because of its unique features), is actually SO much better than the 2012 version IMO. It feels more responsive and I haven't had any issues whats-so-ever accept some wireless connectivity. They really stepped up with the latest one I feel.

The one thing that made me accept the G900 on day one was the multiple buttons (was used to this on the G602, the Mamba doesn't support this many), the customization of said buttons (via button caps, etc.), a better wireless connection for my environment, no dock (just a dongle), and the feel. But by no means do I think the latest Mamba is a bad buy, It's a good mouse!

The G602 is a great alternative...crazy battery life...like 1~2 months and more buttons for MMO use.

I actually prefer less buttons which is why I opted to get the Mamba. I also prefer when it's plugged in but I like the option for wireless. I was afraid with how much it cost but took the leap. I'm happy so far I hope it lasts!

The G900 looks really nice but I have only ever used Logitech so I decided to switch it up!

Haha nothing wrong with that! Its always good to branch out IMO, you either find a better brand or reaffirm your choice of your current one :D. The build quality feels completely different with the new one vs the old (I have both of em obviously). I think the new one will last yah (at least, I hope it does!).

I bought a second G602 for the sheer reason that the mouse was amazing! Best wireless-only mouse I've bought (wasn't a huge fan of the G700). Still have the other G602 just lying around still packaged!

When is Clevo going to release a new refresh of this laptop? Also, are they planning on putting a properly sized 17 inch keyboard or are they going to make the same mistake by putting a small 15 inch keyboard like they do across all their laptops?

Finally, can you send me the new laptop barebone as a gift so I can review it for you? I will use my CPU, RAM, SSDs, etc. I just want the laptop chassis + GeForce GTX 1080. Hope that's not too much

    Hello everyone,

i am new to this community and interested in your knowledge. Sorry not to post in a specific topic but couldn't find a better place...

    Let me introduce myself first.

Former owner of a M17Xr4, i intend to buy the new Clevo P870 but have a few questions about it. I'm quite good with hardware "do it yourself" but totally stupid with software...You seem to be the most qualified here to help me not to make mistakes before buying, so could you confirm what it have understood reading you:

    - i have planned to buy my precious from a Prema-mod partner: Hidevolution because here, in France, Clevos are not well configured and sold with stock bios you can't change anything inside. Am i right about these two points?

    - I have two 512 GB Samsung SM 951 Pcie M2 SSD. It is supposed to be Clevo P870 compatible ( if not, please let me know ! ). A french Clevo reseller advised me not to Raid 0, because of data loss risk and BSOD. What is your opinion and experience about this ? Could an USB key OS Backup resume a crash problem if it happens ?

    - I own a genuine unused Win 8 Pro Dvd and licence. If Hidevolution sets my Bios to UEFI and activates the Raid 0 option, is it possible to create a Win 10 Pro bootable USB key that would recognize and create a Raid 0 PCie SSds then set the OS on it and only asks me to give the licence number or do i have to go through the DVD installation on a third SSD (2,5") , update to Win 10 Pro, create the Raid 0 link, allocate GBT tables, partiton and format the Pcie disks and then clone the OS from the 2,5" to the PCie SSDs ? I know, i'm hopeless !

    - The french reseller also told me that the 32 Gb of HyperX 2400 Mhz DDR4 i have were not frequency compatible with the motherboard and i7 6700K but the ClevoSager is sold with this option : is it still true with Prema Bios and usable or do i have to buy 2133 Mhz Ram ?

last one: do we have a slight hope to get this motherboard with 1080 GPU within two months ( i would delay my purchase, of course ) ? This is the link with your Topic !

I apologize for the poor grammar and am sorry for the long list of questions but as we say here, it is better to ask God than the Saints...

    Have a good day.

    Best regards.

I'll answer the few things that I know. I don't know the situation with Clevo's configured in France, but ordering from HID will get you both the Prema system BIOS and video BIOS.

Those SSD's should be compatible, I am actually using the older plain M.2 SATA SSD's and even they work fine. The only reason I am not using the PCIe M.2 drives is because I need higher capacity over higher speed.

I recommend the same for RAID and non-RAID users. Backup as often as you can, and at least as often as the amount of data you can "afford" to lose. I feel like I could lose a months worth of work so I usually do a full backup each month. I have been using RAID SSD's for a long while now and have not noticed any more failures than non-RAID. Personally I do not RAID SSD's because of speed, but rather I don't want to have so many separate small drives and prefer a couple larger drives.

The 2400 DDR4 should work, as will 2800(what I have) and I believe even 3000 some others have.

Sorry I can't help on the others, and your English is fine, better than many native English speakers.

Very kind and useful answer, thanks to you, Porter.
I didn't want to buy from anyone but a Prema partner only, to be sure of what i get....

You convinced me: the french reseller wanted to make me buy his stuff !

Last one: do you think that delidding the CPU, using Liquid Ultra to repaste and undervolting it ( - 130 mV ) may reduce the Core temperature if i overclock it a bit ( 4,4 Ghz ), without affecting performance ?

Even with stock good paste + undervoltingis isn't 4.4 Ghz a problem. Delidding + Liquid Ultra opens for +4.5 Ghz.

I am running -90mv @ 4.4 with liquid ultra only, no delid on a standard cpu. I have fiddled with 4.5 but it runs hotter than I prefer. Delid would be even better but honestly I don't think it's worth it unless you're really going for higher clocks like 4.5+.
