ohh man I just noticed that, let me know how you deal with the DPI scaling as we know Windows DPI scaling sucks, some programs adhere to it and actually display perfectly and others don't. Let's see how it goes with you.
I know a lady who bought a Lenovo Yoga laptop with a 4K display and everything was so tiny you literally needed a magnifier to see things. Then we scaled up to 250% and everything looked great but some programs looked blurry or out of proportion.
BTW, did you request for your two 950 PROs to be setup in RAID 0 or single drive setup? -
I'll see how scaling is, on my Precision M4800(15.6") 3200x1800 display, it was okay except apps that weren't high dpi aware.
I only have one 512gb 950 pro. I bought a few of the components separately so I will actually be installing them myself. I also already had a windows 7 dvd so I didn't order an OS either, but hopefully the bios that comes with my computer supports CSM. Eurocom is a Prema partner so it should, we'll see. -
The EUROCOM SKY X9 should support W7 just fine with Prema BIOS. It has full CSM functionality. Unless you can get W7 to run in a pure UEFI environment it will not work with the original BIOS... almost nothing is adjustable with the default OEM BIOS. No point in even pressing F2 without Prema's BIOS because there is almost nothing you can change... it is so sparse that it reminds me of the BIOS on the old Dell Mini 9 netbook I used to have.
Time permitting, I am going to install Windows 7 on the 2.5" SSDs. Hopefully, I won't have to send it back before I have a chance to do that.Bullrun likes this. -

I have integrated the NVME Driver of the 950 PRO along with the NVME Hotfix into the Original Windows 7 Pro DVD ISO that I have then used the eif.cg removal tool to unlock the ISO to make it install any edition not just PRO.
I have uploaded it to my Google Drive so if you want it let me know. It's an untouched ISO other than the above so you still need your own key. If you don't trust me, then the guide to do it yourself is here but it took me a lot of time to do it and extract the driver out of the 950 PRO NVME EXE installer but I did it

When will the BIOS be finished bro? Please share it if it's finished so I can have it ready to install -
Thanks but I won't be needing anything. I will install windows 7 on an external esata drive, upgrade to 10 , then once 10 is activated I will install 10 fresh onto the samsung drive.
I will then dual boot win7/8.0 onto the external drive for benchmarking purposes.

It will boot full uefi IFF you use win 7 without sp1, but there will be issues. Once sp1 is installed, it will hang on boot until csm video is set to legacy. The rest of the csm settings can be set to uefi. Microsoft refused to fix the compatibility of video with uefi to force adoption of win 8 for full uefi computers. So pre-sp1 MAY, but not guaranteed, work with uefi. I did it on Prema's bios though (forgot to switch it to csm, it worked until updating). No guarantee or can be replicated...Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

hi, where did you order it from?
was that a 980Msli or desk top 980? -
I ordered mine from Eurocom. On their Facebook site they posted a link to the SKY X9 so I asked when it'll be available for shipment because my dad is there until the end of November. They said they start shipping this week so I didn't hesitate. After reading through the whole thread I found out I could have saved some buck but as I see not all the resellers might meet my need for a timely delivery so better now than never, I didn't take the chance of the laptop being stuck at our house in Florida while I'm in Europe
EDIT: SLI 980m GTX, as it's been mentioned a few times, this setup will probably beat the single 980 and I need something to be able to play Fallout 4
Also I might be getting the FHD display with G-SYNC free of charge. Not sure if they're sending some generic invoices but I configured mine without it (I was planning to buy an external monitor) and the invoice says DM-G. Definitely not mad about it since Eurocom's exchange rates are questionable because I paid in EURO.Last edited: Nov 6, 2015hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
What kind of battery run time do you think I could squeeze out of this with the 65w 6700 and 980m on power saver with min brightness and wifi turned off? Not while gaming, but using digital audio workstation software.
-
haha, battery runtime, thats cute
no, but jokes aside: consider the psu just as a backup in case of a power outage or to reach the next outlet
tdp rating of the cpu doesnt matter in this context, it would only make a slight difference in load scenarios. at idle, all cpu models would be pretty much equal.
based on other desktop cpu laptops without switchable graphics and also on my own machine id say anything between 2-3 hours, definitely not much more, but rather less depending on the workload ure putting on it.

Hi everybody guys
What you think about my order?
Eurocom x9
Display 4k (no gsync)
Ram 16 Gb (2x8) 2133
Cpu: skylake i7 6700k
Gpu: single nvidia 980 desktop
Windows 10 Home
Killer wireless 1535
Raid 0 enabled on 2x128gb samsung SM951
1Tb hd seagate momentus 6Gb/s
2x330 Watt power adapter
4500$
Please give me some advice, I sincerely doubt about the ram.. I could take that with greater speedLast edited: Nov 6, 2015 -
^Is that price USD or CAD?
1 1/2 hour battery life should be the average under light/moderate load(ideal conditions). On full load I'd say probably an hour at most. With power savings such as min brightness etc maybe 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours max. -
I'm buying almost the same setup, except getting 1080p screen with G-Sync.
My personal rational is that 4k just doesn't seem to make sense on even 17inch screens.
Further I'd wait a next generation shift in video cards before it makes sense on max settings on current games, let alone in the next year.
Further, I'm hoping to use this system for VR Gaming next year which makes 4k even less relevant on this current generation hardware.
Finally the comments I've all read seem to indicate that G-Sync is > than 4k for gaming.
I'm going to be using this system for gaming and development, i may get a much larger external 4k monitor as I like a decent amount of acreage for editors etc. when developing, but I want the built in screen to be ideal for performant gaming.
That's all IMHO
Take care,

I fully agree. I'd never use a 4K sreen on a laptop EVER! Higher requirements hardware wise to run at the native resolution + text and icons look super tiny you ought to buy a magnifier with the screen unless you do DPI scaling which we all know how messed up it is on Windows OSLast edited: Nov 7, 2015 -
hey guys
I can find sager P870's page on xotic pc.
but there's no sign of that on sager's own website
what happened? -
Well, @ Prema and I are working our guts out to get things exactly as they need to be for the EUROCOM SKY X9's firmware. The people that designed this monster certainly did not want it to achieve anywhere near the level of extreme awesomeness we are absolutely going to extract from it by force. I think both of us might need to take a vacation by the time everything crippled by the manufacturer has been fully healed. Prema has already performed miracles considering where we started, LOL. And, I have massive respect for Eurocom for supporting this worthwhile endeavor.
I know you guys are hungry for more. Here's another nibble while Prema continues his valiant wizardry to crack the code. I think you'll like this physics score and well as the memory performance. DDR4-2400 @ 2800 is pretty sweet. No ETA on when it will be all done yet... massive effort required... and @Prema rocks... I always knew that, but I have a totally new level of respect for this amazing man's skills now.

Regarding OS and that M.2, I think you should do these...
Remove that Win10, install Win7 then upgrade it to 10, should save some cash imo.
Better invest in the 950 Pro M.2's...
Don't add those SM951's they are not that efficient
Have bootup issues, take a lot of time to boot up with when Win7 is on any other Legacy drives. As they only run on UEFI OS
+ Issues reported with those drives and the 950 Pros are having the latest 3D V-NAND -
Thanks guys
,
i will change my order now, im Going to remove the 4k display, i even replace the ram with another one more faster and i will put the 950 Pro plus windows seven

It's now available on XoticPC. You can get a nice spec'd one for under $3000. Still not really worth it as 980M SLI will perform better.
I'm assuming we can't throw a 980Ti in there?
Shame, really.
-
It depends on what you will use on the machine. If you're going to be doing any video editing you may want to go with 32GB or 64GB of memory. If you will be running 4 or 5 multiple virtual machines, you may want to go with 2TB SSDs. If you're going to be gaming, maybe consider 980m SLIs.
It really all depends on your most common use case.jaybee83 likes this. -
I just want to make sure everyone understands when you are spec'ing out this machine unless it is a Prema Partner, you will not be getting the custom BIOS you see Mr. Fox talking about.
Oh, it will be available in the future, but it may be many, many months before it is available. I would feel bad if anyone orders and is let down by the stock BIOS this machine ships with and they're stuck until summer of 2016 or whenever.
You may want to request your reseller contact Prema about becoming a partner.
Just sayin'jaybee83, Mr. Fox, Bullrun and 1 other person like this. -
Great point, anyone confirm that Prema is going to provide Xotic with the bios?
-
His fully unlocked BIOS's are always available publically a few weeks after the machines release.. The Prema partners only get a dumbed down version of it which is still good and better then stock one... You don't lose much by waiting 3-4 weeks tops.. Be patient not worth wasting 1000 extra on the machine just because of a BIOS which you can easily get later..

I have not heard of anything like this in the works. It would be nice, but I haven't seen anything planned to break away from the normal Sager installed BIOS. -
With it be labeled as Sager is the bios currently the same between the stock Sager and Clevo? Does the stock bios allow overclocking through intel XTU via multiplier and TDP and so on?
I had no idea XoticPC was so close being in the mid west, great news there. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
It hasn't shipped out to us, so I'm not 100% sure. I would imagine it would be just a stock Clevo bios to start out with. You'd probably have to get a Prema bios in order to be able to do some of the overclocking, but still not 100% on it until I can play around with it hands-on.
Yeah, out here in the middle of corn country. Sagers still can ship from CA, but most other things we sell ships from Nebraska, which makes it nice on shipping times.
-
hey, i check on the p870's page on xotic pc's website but there is no ETA, so is that mean you already have them ready to ship?
there isn't any information on sager's website about P870 though -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
It would still have to go through the standard build time at Sager. Not sure on an exact shipping date at this point still. Will probably find out more on Monday I'm guessing.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
In stock does not mean ready to ship. There is many, many hours of Q&A and such that must complete at the Sager factory before any ship date can happen. It should not be too long...
